after about 7 layers of paint and color i ended up here. several paint layers, glazes some stencils, rub ons, and a bit of ink i am really loving the grungy result!

monogrammed mugs...

you know all those ideas you pin on pinterest that you are going to do one day and forget about...?
well i pinned this idea for monogrammed mugs and busted out the neon and black sharpies and the kids and i had a blast!
we picked up some plain white mugs from target and dug out the stash of alphabet letters i have hoarded
once you stick them securely to the mug start making dots around the stickers using a sharpie/s.

i am so addicted to using joint compound now thanks to Kate Thompson's workshop. her workshop totally made me rethink my process and think outside my personal creative box.

i have been interpreting her techniques on fabric to paper and loving building layers of texture and the playing!

the eyes are the windows to the soul...
if you have been following my blog recently, you know that i am really having fun learning how to draw faces. at one time i "poo-pooed" the idea but in truth it was because i couldn't do it...that is i THOUGHT i couldn't do it.
the truth is, if someone explains it to you in a way that makes sense...not mathematically or anatomically, in REAL language and shape talk anyone can learn to draw faces. with the push from Dina Wakley and the guidance of Stephen i have gained so much more confidenc...

FORWARD MOTION: not giving up on a creative idea just because it isnt working out the way you may have expected it to.
todays piece is a perfect example.
this 36 x 36" canvas began here...
yep thats my canvas on the right. i started working on it in the studio with dj when she was here. (hers is on the left)
at some point we decided lets do houses.
we started collaging on large pieces of paper and houses emerged
i kept moving forward but i wasn't feeling it

we got a small burst of brushes sent in
after the last brush update so i am hoping this encourages all those
with brushes that still need altering to take the plunge! many of you have told me you have one but just havent done anything with it yet...lets see if i can give you another nudge to get them all gussied up and sent back this summer!

taking them "on the ROAD!"
i have three brand new Road Workshops to announce that will run the second half of this year into next!
but i always like to beta test them first at my studio first before they make there big debut! come and be my first class to take all or any of them next month on August 15-16th during the Charlotte CKC Event.
