Bits of news
I will officially be back on Internet Hiatus after this post, because the deadline for Spade's book is now within a two month window, and I want to finish it in time to get critiques before I turn it into my editor. There *may* end up being an excerpt of it in the back of DESTINED FOR AN EARLY GRAVE. We'll see if my editor and I can agree on a chunk of a not-yet-totally-edited scene for a teaser. I'll post more on that once I have news.

A long story about a short one
I am done* with my short story for the DEATH'S EXCELLENT VACATION anthology. It's been an interesting couple weeks writing this. I knew it was going to be a Cat and Bones story, but my original idea for the story ending up changing. If you want to hear me ramble on about writing, craft, revisions, etc., click below.
ETA: LJ is acting up again and I can't get this under a cut. My apologies. Don't read more if you don't want to see the writing rambling :)
My original idea had been to mold a story

Now for something completely gratuitous...
Compared to other takers:
You scored 85% on masculine, higher than 96% of your peers. You scored 76% on athletic, higher than 73% of your peers. You scored 45% on exotic, higher than 41% of your peers. You scored 50% on refined, higher than 53% of your peers.
Tough Guys, heh, guilty as charged ;-). And I recommend the test just for all the hot guy pics.

Some fun stuff
A few quick links before I hide from the internet. Why am I hiding? I've noticed a distinct connection between online time and decreased writing productivity (shocking, I know!). And since my goal today is to finish my short story for the Death's Excellent Vacation antho, that means I'll be rationing out my internet time. No, I'm not kidding. I'll allow myself x-number of visits to check email only, and only after I've written x-number of words. Then, if I'm a good little author who finishes lik

Grateful, busy, crazy
My apologies to anyone I owe an email to. Wednesday, my mother was admitted into the hospital, at first in serious condition. I'm thrilled to say she's better now and may even be getting out today or tomorrow, but of course, that meant I wasn't checking my emails or doing much other work. I'm trying to get caught up on things now, and trying to finish my short story for the Death's Excellent Vacation anthology. It will be a work weekend for me, you can bet, but again, I'm so relieved my mother's

LOLBones and panel recap
Clare from Bookspot Central did a great, thorough recap of the "Kick Ass Authors and their Killer Heroines" panel at ComicCon last weekend. So if you couldn't make it to the panel, but wanted to know what we discussed, go HERE . I have to admit this was one of my favorite panels...even though I had to wear a WonderWoman crown ;-).
And now, some late-day Valentine wishes to readers of the Night Huntress series. This made me laugh out loud. All I can say is that some people are truly twisted and ta

Pics!!
As promised, pictures from Friday at Harper, Sunday at ComicCon, and more. Hoping I can get LJ cut to work so this post isn't huge, but my pop-up blockers have been known to prevent me in the past...
On our way to HarperCollins in very chilly weather, author Vicki Pettersson felt sure her face was frozen and would fall off. Note her excellent survival skills trying to keep her face on. Another note about Vicki? She’s TALL. She takes two steps and she’s twenty feet ahead. After jogging behind her

ComicCon recap
I should be getting my pictures back today, so there will be another post, but here's a recap of ComicCon and my first trip to NY.
As I mentioned in my previous post, last Friday I spend most of the day at HarperCollins, meeting several of the staff and doing a video interview for the upcoming UNBOUND anthology. Once I was done with that, I went out to dinner with my agent, Nancy Yost, and my editor, Erika Tsang. We had a great time - especially when we all talked smack about fellow agency-mate

ComicCon latest
I arrived safely in New York and spent most of yesterday at HarperCollins (side note - the security there? Ye gods, I've been in less-protected bank vaults!) meeting several of the amazing Harper staff and doing a video shoot for the upcoming UNBOUND anthology. Author Vicki Pettersson and I were paired off to interview each other about our stories. *snort* BIG mistake, and one that EOS editor Diana Gill swore never to repeat. Authors Kim Harrison and Jocelynn Drake were very professional when th
