Hi again

I am officially Off Internet Hiatus, which means - you guessed it - Spade's book is done. Yes, I emailed FIRST DROP OF CRIMSON to my editor with a leisurely fifteen minutes to spare before I got in the car to drive to RT on Tuesday.

I'll post about the RT convention tomorrow, but I wanted to ramble on a bit first about finishing a book. Simply put, it's a GREAT feeling. To me, the sense of accomplishment I get typing "The End" is one of the most fulfilling parts of being an author. I didn't star

Hiatus. For real this time ;-)

I'm now three weeks away from deadline for Spade's book, which, by the way, has a Tentative Title. What do I mean by Tentative Title? *grin* That's publisher slang for "we like this now so tell everyone it's your title, but we may change our minds in the future to something completely different and then you'll have to do a 'No, really, THIS is my new title!' post."

Okay so the Tentative Title for Spade's book, which will be Night Huntress World, book one, is FIRST DROP OF CRIMSON. I had really

Why yes, I should be sleeping...

...since it's 2:30 am, but needing to take my migraine meds and crash earlier means I'm wide now! Soon I'll have to force myself to sleep or it will screw up my whole day tomorrow, but I saw this and got all nostalgic (hey, nostalgia's allowed in the wee hours of the morning, right?)

WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE was one of the first book I ever remember reading. I'm excited for it to be a movie even if the movie sucks, because at least then, m

The cover!

Just found out that Harper is showing the cover of my fourth book in their press releases, so I'm going to take that as an okay to post it! (and if it's not...shh, don't tell Harper what I'm doing ;).

Without further ado, here is the cover and stepback for DESTINED FOR AN EARLY GRAVE, Night Huntress book four. This image is still a little preliminary; arrangements of the quotes may change.

*grin* Can I just say how much I LOVE my cover artist??!!!!!!

ETA: Yes, those ARE Cat's silver-heeled boots,

Check it out!

The amazing Ilona Andrews sent me this way cool pic this morning because she thought I'd like it:

Uh, I do. So much that I called her and said "OMGwantz! Kthx." Then poor Ilona had to take her time to change the background on my LJ page. Lookie! Isn't it cool??! (you may have to click on my LJ to see the background, if you're reading this from your Friends list).

Granted, Ilona will probably never send me another picture again, but lookie! Cool background!  *iz shame

Succumbing to peer pressure

I did it. I folded under pressure *cough, Melissa, cough*. Even though I'm still not 100% sure how to use this thing, I'm now officially Twittered:

Thanks

Thanks again for all your support and thoughtful comments on my previous post. It's just so tragic and senseless for his family and everyone who cared about him.

Promise I will have less depressing posts in the future. Here's hoping everyone has a good remainder of the week and weekend.

Depressed

Anyone looking for a cheerful St Patty's Day post, stop reading now. Really.  I just found out that a former coworker killed himself. I didn't hang out with him on the off-hours when I worked at my old day job, but I worked with him on and off for a couple years and I liked him. He was smart, funny, talented, and very addicted to drugs. Like most addicts I've met, he was always going to clean up "soon". He had a plan for his life. He had goals and dreams and ambitions. He was just going to party

We interrupt this internet hiatus...

...for a funny post. No, I didn't write it - Sarah from Smart Bitches Who Love Trashy Books did a guest post on[info:]fangs_fur_fey  about why she digs urban fantasy, and some least-favorite paranormal romance tropes.

Some of my favorite lines from Sarah's post:

"Here's your lifemate. Thank you, drive through"
"I don't like you, I don't want to like you, I can't stop thinking about your hair, DAMMIT."
"His rage knows no bounds when I'm in some mortal peril. And I am. All the time."
