RWA recap, take one

Just got in last night from a very long train ride. Seems the train from Florida to D.C. goes a lot faster than the train from D.C. to Florida. On the train, I had no internet access, which made the time feel like it was passing even slower, lol. But! I am home now, wading through emails and trying to sum up the convention in a concise, succinct manner (and if you believe I can ever be concise or succinct, I have some lovely swamp land you might be interested in buying...;)

Hello, blogging. Been a few days, hasn't it? ;)  Extended silences on my part usually mean one of two things: a deadline is drawing near, or I'm soon to be at a convention. Right now, both apply. The RWA (Romance Writers of America) convention is next week, from July 15th - July 18th, in Washington, D.C. Tuesday morning, I will get on a train to head up there. Got back late Tuesday night from NC. It was a sort of working vacation, in that I had about 1-2 of business each day to take care of, but it was the closest thing to a real vacation that I've had in years. This will be a short post because I'm supposed to be on vacation, but I couldn't resist showing the book trailer for my fourth novel. This is the first trailer I've done, and the process of working with the production company to pick out the pictures, music, script, etc., was really interesting. I must say, I'm very pleased with how the trailer came out, and I'll probably do one for my next book, too.

Good news and thoughts about good news

In the past two weeks, some friends of mine have had nice things happen. Yasmine Galenorn's new book, DEMON MISTRESS, debuted at #16 on the New York Times. Yasmine's other novels have been consistently hitting the USA Today and the extended NYT, but this was her first time hitting the printed NYT list. Congrats again, Yasmine!

I knew with the lineup in this antho, there would be a lot on entries. There were. 372, to be exact. Um, WOW. Contest six was only open from 3pm to midnight yesterday, and there were 194 entries. You guys are like me - you love free books! I read every emailed entry, and all the "I hope I win, but I never win anything" comments make me so sad. I wish I had more books to give away, but since I was only sent two ARC's from my publisher, two are all I can offer for this contest.
