Proximity Can Sometimes Beat All Other Concerns

My wife and I were going to go out for dinner the other night. There was something specific we wanted at a specific restaurant. However, we were both very tired. There was something else we didn’t really want at another restaurant that happened to be right by us.

Right by us.

Our choice was simple. We could stop right by us and get the thing we didn’t really want or we could drive just a little bit further and get the other thing we actually wanted. We stopped right by us.

Did I mention we were tired?

It’s funny. There was something we actually wanted and we gave it up in favor of something that didn’t really interest us simply because the first restaurant was closer than the second. The vote was unanimous.

Sometimes proximity trumps everything else.

A Literary Side Conversation

I was just thinking of a side conversation for Romeo and Juliet. I’ll share even though it isn’t much:

Rosaline: I’ve been giving Romeo the silent treatment. He kept calling me all the time, but his schtick was so bad I could tell he was just trying to get into my pants. I figure a little time to stew will get him to step up his game and bring me some real romance.

Livia: He’s dead.

Rosaline: What?!

Livia: Yeah, he fell totally in love with Juliet and they end up killing themselves for each other. It was in all the papers.

Rosaline: But he was after me only a week ago! When did this all happen? You know what? Screw him. I’m going after Mercutio, or maybe Tybalt.

Livia: ….

Rosaline: What?!

Livia: How do you feel about Benvolio?

I can see why this wasn’t considered on point enough to make it into the original, but surely this should be in the DVD extras. It’s a viewpoint I feel should be included.

An “Awwww” Moment For You

Here’s an “Awwww” moment for you if you’re into that sort of thing. I was doing some work this weekend and happened to notice that my one pound kitten had forced her way on to the top of one of our cat trees with our 16lb hulking behemouth older cat, the top of the cat tree not even really being big enough for him, and was using him as a body pillow:

Later, they shifted positioned, but stayed asleep, so he was basically using her as a stuffed animal:

I don’t normally put these on the blog, but I decided to this time. They slept for a couple hours like that.

I Have No Idea Why I’m Doing This

I have no idea why I’m doing this. I really don’t. (Courtesy of the theme song for That Girl and dat boi):

Diamonds, Daisies, Snowflakes,

Dat Boi

Chestnuts, Rainbows, Springtime…

Is Dat Boi

He’s tinsel on a tree…0

He’s everything that every boi should be!

Sable, Popcorn, White Wine,

Dat Boi

Gingham, Bluebirds, Broadway…

Is Dat Boi

He’s mine alone, but luckily for you…

If you find a boi to love,

Only one boi to love,

Then he’ll be Dat Boi too…

Dat Boi !

My One “While My Wife Is Gone” Post

A while back, I did a bunch of posts to humorously antagonize my wife while she was on a vacation I didn’t get to go on (I can’t get enough time away from work to go on all the trips she takes). A few people who regularly follow this blog were pretty fond of those. They were hoping I’d do the same while she was in Mexico this week. However, for the most part, I had other things to talk about this week. Still, I didn’t want to disappoint. As such, here is my one “While My Wife Is Gone” post:

Shannon, I’m eating chips in bed!

Encouraging Cannibalism

I’m sure you’ve already heard that KFC is coming out with chicken-flavored nail polish. This is not going to end well.

Personally, I think KFC is encouraging cannibalism. I mean, do we really need to make humans taste like delicious Kentucky Fried Chicken? This seems incredibly dangerous to me.

Think about it. You were on a cruise. Due to a mysterious accident, the ship sank. You made it to a life raft with several other survivors. However, food has run out. You know what everyone is thinking, what people always think in that situation. At what point do they resort to cannibalism? It tends to happen eventually if the struggle goes on long enough. At that time…do you really want to taste like delicious Kentucky Fried Chicken?

Seems like it would be a drawback at that point. Personally, I’d want to be coated in cod liver oil or something else horribly unappetizing to minimize my chances of being cannibalized as long as possible. I’m certainly not going to season myself in order to spur the others on.

Now, perhaps this is a bit of a long shot worry, but do we really need to encourage cannibalism in any way? Perhaps I won’t be stranded in a shipwreck at any point in the near future (not that I wear fingernail polish anyway), but do I really want to see how easily hungry people might break during a long meeting?

Some people resort to cannibalism much faster than others.
