Model Rockets Were Fun, But Way Too Much Lead Up

I used to love building model rockets. Everything Estes, because I’m not sure there was anyone else in that business back in the 80s and 90s. It was way too much lead up though. As fun as it was to buy a kit and put it together, decorating the rocket and all, you spent days putting it together for a thirty second send off. If you were lucky, you’d get the rocket back (extremely luck if undamaged) and could shoot it off again…at some point. How many could you do at once? How hard was it to get to where you could shoot one off? Were your parents not the most helpful about letting you shoot them off or get you to where you could?

It just wasn’t enough. I only put together a few, and lost interest fairly rapidly due to that latter part. Even had my own launch pad and electronic igniter.

Never did use one to stop a demon lord.

I Found This Randomly And Had To Share On A Friend’s Wall And I Need To Share It With You Too

I found this randomly and had to share it on a friend’s wall and I need to share it with you too.

I have no idea what this is, or why. I mean, I know it’s some kind of SNL skit with a fake Guy Fieri shaking a boot full of uncooked hot dogs, but strangely that plethora of detail still doesn’t explain much.

Yup, it’s about what you’d think. Weird thought to enter my head this morning, but I’m apparently not alone.

Here’s The 90s Animated GIF I Chose For Today

I decided to make the post today a 90s animated gif. At first I thought of looking for an animated gif of a Hypercolor shirt changing, but wasn’t satisfied with what I found immediately. Then I almost went with a snap bracelet demonstration, before settling on this:

I think we can all agree this was the right choice.

Some Relatively Recent Short Fiction Of Mine Accessible Online

Once in a while, I like to share links to my short fiction that has been published relatively recently and is available online. Remind everyone that it’s out there in case they haven’t taken a peek yet. I always maintain a list at my writing website, but I thought this would help anyone who doesn’t feel like looking there:

I Still Haven’t Gone To Water World Because Of That Crappy Movie

People keep telling me I need to go to Water World here in the Denver area. I keep getting told that it’s one of the best parks like that in the area. We’ve been to Elitch Gardens a few times, used to go frequently though not so much in the last few years. No Water World though. And why? That crappy Kevin Costner movie.

Seriously. I’ve never even seen the movie and just how bad it was supposed to be talks me out of going to the park. We’ve been here almost nine years now and still not a single visit. Thanks, Kevin. Thanks for a move that can keep me out of a theme park even though I haven’t seen it.

No one has recommended I try Lakeside yet.
