Elimination of anonymous comments won't make a damned bit of difference.
While the morons and spammers decried YouTube's decision to make it harder to post anonymous comments, the more rational among us (yours truly included) applauded the move. Anonymity is a key piece of the Greater Internet F***wad Theory first established in 2004. (http://goo.gl/qLjAl) Take that away, the whole equation crumbles, and such behavior will vanish, right?
Wrong.
Need proof? Read the comments on NASAs post about Typhooon Haiyan from last Saturday: http://goo.gl/yqPNCh
Second comment? An idiot. And once you get past a few dozen, the thread quickly unravels to a mix of "I CAN TYPING!" (http://goo.gl/jgvDHG) asshats. The signal is completely lost to the noise.
Here's the message, Audacious Marketers: There is no brand safe way to engage in comments. They are or eventually will become a cesspool at some point.
Post great content. And then walk away, leaving the battleground to the empassioned idiots who don't care about tarnishing their reputation.

English is a living language, Evo. Chill out.
Unique Modifiers drive me insane
Data It's plural
Medium Has no context without something on either side
Literally != Figuratively
Apropos != Appropriate
Reoccuring You meant recurring
But as I say... I should probably just get over it.

Looking at the ratio of thumbs-up to thumbs-down, it appears YouTube's integration with Google+ for comments isn't going over so well.
Then again, maybe there's a better way to judge the relative success of this move other than slacktivism? It will be interesting to see if views increase. I'm betting they will.

What if we're wrong about indie publishing?
A lot of us -- and I roll my self up in that gross generalization -- view indie publishing as either substitutive or complimentary to traditional publishing. More to the point, today's "traditional" publishing deals look a lot like "indie" publishing, so the distinction is blurring.
But that's not disruptive or all that innovative. That's natural and obvious progression.
So what is disruptive an innovative in the space. Book sprints? Maybe. Publishing automation? Sure. Lean publishing? Probably. In-browser books? OK. And a lot more.
In all this uncertainty, there are two things I know:
1. Disruptive forces won't rip apart trad-indie (new word) publishing anytime soon, so keep on keepin' on if that is where your comfort lies.
2. I'm already bored with trad-indie and am moving on. Let's break some shit and see what happens.
