Caffeine free for 2 weeks hasn't killed me.
But it has made my tinnitus much more tolerable!
Two weeks ago, my otoneurologist recommended I cut caffeine out of my diet in an attempt to lesson my tinnitus symptoms. As a daily all-day consumer of yerba mate and someone trying to watch his weight, this news was met with some scorn.
But hey, if I can live for a month on 1500 calories a day worth of beer and sausage, I can handle this!
The results? The high-pitched 7500 Hz whine I hear has faded to the background. Oh, it's still there and will be staying with me. But at a much more manageable level.
Now I'm trying to decide if I want to add it back to my diet or not. I do miss the ritual of mate and coffee. That, and my gourd and my aeropress are looking kinda lonely.

In a recent survey of would-be authors, it was found that most are unaware of the difference in royalty payments between indie publishing and a traditional deal. Almost all are under the illusion that traditional publishers will take care of marketing for them, and more than two-thirds are convinced they are unable to make a quality book without a traditional publisher.
Of course, you don't think that. You know the score. But knowing what others are wrong about can help you better position yourself and take advantage of the less-educated masses. On this episode of The Books & Beer Hangout, we'll dissect the survey a little more, have a good laugh, and hopefully point you in the right direction.
The Books & Beer Hangout is a weekly video chat on topic related to something in or around the world of digital publishing … with beer! You can ask us questions during the show, and by all means bring your own beer! Follow us on Google+ at https://plus.google.com/+ePublishUnum and go to our page during this time to watch or join in!

In the '90s, I was in Los Angeles, listening to KROQ non-stop. In fact, I still listen to a bunch of music from that time.
Ever wonder what happened to those artists? Many are still making killer music. Props to +Songza for putting together this playlist of new stuff from '90s bands.

Will see the end of the 40-hour week soon?
"Who only works 40 hours each week?" you might be thinking. But as it turns out, the 40-hour week was meant for assembly line workers -- and we're not that. Some companies are taking the first tentative steps to re-define work time.
Even if you can't make such bold movies, you probably could try out the four tips presented:
1. Write a realistic to-do list
2. Create cycles with your work
3. One day with no work
4. Find a true metric to measure your tasks
Give it a shot!
Props to +Sheila Dee for the original share!

Having a hell of a time finging #Yutu's YouTube channel or live Twitter feed. Come one, China. These are basic requirements for space exploration at the end of 2013.
(Also, props for the first soft landing on the moon in almost 40 years.)
