I created a Chrome Extension for an extremely lacking feature on a certain website. It’s a freemium thing. Clocks $150 daily on average…

I didn’t advertise anywhere else except making a post on a Reddit sub for unethical tips

It took 6 months before it started getting any traction. Now it’s just passive income.

This Jan 2024 comment might be the “advertisement” they alluded to.

The extension, launched in mid-2023 AIS Visa Auto Rescheduler

This extension reschedules US Visa application appointment [on this website] to an earlier date automatically.

Got me thinking: what other big websites are lacking features that a Chrome Extension could fix?

Probably a lot of government websites.

First two ideas when I asked ChatGPT for suggestions

DMV Appointment Notifier: extension would monitor availability and alert you when an earlier date opens up.USCIS Case Tracker: Auto-refreshes case statuses and notifies you when there’s an update.

Running this solo alongside my day job, 80% margins

Sounds like his TikTok has been key for marketing

Jacky mentions in the comments that his day job is related to AI, so he obviously had an advantage there.

But here’s what strikes me

There are literally hundreds of AI customer service products on the market, yet a solo developer can still build and launch something within 6 months that earns a decent income.

So as I’ve said many times before: don’t be afraid of competition.

Is there a successful product or service out there that you find to be overpriced or lacking in some way?

How about building your own, better version?

Sounds like they’re selling more than just ebooks though…

The use of a dedicated web app and email support enhances the study process by providing interactive learning tools like practice tests, flashcards, and study guides.

Anyway, this got me thinking…

What other study guides could you sell on Amazon?

Is there a standardized exam for a niche/industry/profession that you’re familiar with?

Could be worth checking if there are any existing guides on Amazon, and if they’re any good.

Might be worth doing some keyword research, see if there’s an opportunity for a job board in a different niche

Billy says he found a client via Upwork, used Replit to build him an app that tracks KPIs for car mechanics.

The client paid him $750, with maybe more to come…

I’ll be able to charge the guy monthly for keeping it up and maybe adding features down the line, so it’s a really good potential recurring revenue stream

Billy shows in the video how to build a similar app via Replit.

One caveat Billy makes it sound like that was the first app he built in Replit, but he also tweeted recently…

So clearly it takes some time and practice to get to grips with it.
