Episode 26: Gini Murphy – The Body and the Mind and Pilates for the Real World

How do you move when moving hurts? The one thing that calms my body and my mind and doesn’t make me feel like I got hit by a truck the next day is Pilates. Since I have a radio show I thought, why not bring my personal Pilates trainer, mentor and friend to the show so you could get to know her, ask her your questions and learn a few things you can do at home to get your body and mind back into alignment. Especially your body.

The first time I went to Pilates I had been in pain for a long time after some injuries to the discs in my lower back after a VERY bad round of golf. After 15 minutes, the pain was gone and my body and mind felt calmer. I got hooked and each time I go, I not only learn more about my body but more about the mind body connection and how they play tricks on each other.  If you aren’t sure what I mean just tell yourself to stand up straight with your chin back to align the head and then look in a mirror. It surprises me every time.

If you are a breast cancer survivor, Gini Murphy also shares tip on reconditioning after surgery and will tell you about a free class she offers every month in Vero Beach, FL to help you.

Episode 25: Barry Laub – Does Your Language P.O.P.? And Why it Matters.

Which comes first? Your purpose or your objective? Do you know the difference? Does your plan further them? Do you know how the language you use matters at all levels of your life and business?

We often hear that we must know our purpose and that if we are not living our purpose that is why we are left unfulfilled at the end of the day. I have struggled with this concept for many years and felt like I was failing because I couldn’t articulate my purpose as it seemed it is supposed to be articulated.

Then I met my guest, Barry Laub and he presented the concepts in a different way that challenged me to look at the words I was using and the words being used by others. Pieces started to fall into place that had not seemed even remotely relevant to success and purpose.

Listen with an open mind as we discuss how objective is the thing we want to be looking at and defining and once you have that, the rest begins to fall into place.

Episode 23: Steve Olsher – Mr. Bold – What is Your What?

My favorite question that helps me get through so many challenges in my life and in my business is, “why?” Not just, “what is my why?” but, “why this goal?”, “Why did we end up where we are right now?” “Why did my brother die so young?”. Get the idea?

I never forgot the other questions like, Who?, What?, When?, Where? and How? but they were not the questions that seemed to unlock the door to my inner knowing like why? did. I would use all the other questions to dig deeper into the why yet there seemed to be a piece I was missing somewhere. I understood my why but I needed to also know an essential piece of me, my what.

The what is essentially the core essence of who you are and what you were born to do. I would get glimpses but then it would slip. It would manifest in many different ways yet I could not verbalize it other than to describe myself by what I did for a living.

As I was preparing for this show, I was watching Wayne Dyer’s movie, The Shift and thinking, how do you unlock what is already inside of you to have the greatest impact on those you encounter along the way.

My guest today wrote a NY Times bestselling book called, What is Your What? Discover the One Amazing Thing You Were Born to Do and in it he lays out a plan to help you unlock the What you were born with and then how you can bring that into your life in every way. If I have to look at more than Why?, which we all must, then this interview will give you some steps you can take right now to begin unlocking your what and get a free copy of Steve Olsher’s book so you can continue your journey after you listen to this show.

Steve-Olsher Steve Olsher is known as the world’s foremost reinvention expert. Famous for helping individuals and corporations become exceptionally clear on their WHAT – that is, the ONE thing they were created to do – his practical, no-holds-barred approach to life and business propels his clients towards achieving massive profitability while also cultivating a life of purpose, conviction, and contribution.

A 25+ year entrepreneur, Steve is the Chairman & Co-Founder of Liquor.com, an online pioneer who launched on CompuServe’s Electronic Mall in 1993, New York Times bestselling author of What Is Your WHAT? Discover The ONE Amazing Thing You Were Born To Do, author of the Business Technology Book of the Year, Internet Prophets: The World’s Leading Experts Reveal How to Profit Online, creator/host of Internet Prophets LIVE!, international keynote speaker, and in-demand media guest who has appeared on CNN, Fox Business and other national outlets.

Episode 22: Terry Brock – No Way to Not Yet, Overwhelm gone and lots of Video tips

What happens when you get Terry Brock in the studio and record the first video of the radio show? No, this is not the song video killed the radio star! Yet it did create some interesting conversations and interactions and raised a few questions in my mind about video and its place in making an impact.

My guest on this episode is the incomparable and totally fun Terry Brock. We challenged each other to figure out how to add video to the live radio show when the studio does not have any cameras and has no capability of accepting newfangled methods of communicating like internet calling. How were we going to do it and still provide a good show, which you are all used to by now!, for the live listening audience that has a radio in their car, home or was listening on iHeart radio? If the show was just a recorded podcast we could always redo it but we were live on terrestrial radio!

Feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the planning and inability to test in the studio until we went live, I decided to ask my guest how he deals with overwhelm. He does have a popular Tedx talk on Overcoming Overwhelm!

From there we talked about video and its use in providing value related to your brand, the questions you need to ask while figuring it all out and learned a number of great resources when you are looking to add video and ramp up your marketing.

One of my favorite shows from the shear fun of the conversation and figuring out all the tech to make it work!  Tweet to @TheLauraSteward and tell me what you think!

Terry Brock About my guest: Terry Brock brings a passion for technology, a sense of history, and real-world business strategies for success to your event.

He became the Editor-in-Chief for that distinguished publication coordinating a staff of over 100 geniuses in areas of social media, Cloud Computing, Mobility and Security. Episode 21: Dr. Joe Serio – Time Management – 50 Lessons on Finding Time for What’s Important

Time Engagement? Self-Management? Time Management is a spiritual pursuit? What I do know is the time we have on this planet is finite. Once a day is over, it is over. We cannot get that time back and our future time is unknown. We may have days, weeks, months, years or just seconds left on this planet. How we spend our time is a choice.

But how do you decide where to spend your time? I teach goal setting and time management and I am the first person to tell you that some days I have no idea where the day went and I certainly don’t always see forward momentum towards a goal. Some days I think time managment is more perseverance than perfection.

My guest just released the latest book in his Get the Nerve to Succeed Series; Time Management – 50 Lessons on Finding Time for What’s Really Important. If you are looking to become more productive on what really matters, you won’t want to miss this show.

I myself had a few ahas as I was thinking over the show on my way home from the radio station. Share with me on twitter what made you stop and think. Tweet to me @TheLauraSteward!

Getting the Nerve to Succeed

Dr. Joe Serio has cracked the code for improving personal leadership, decreasing stress, and increasing productivity. But before he did that, he had to deal with the fear that was holding him back.

His quest to live his best life has taken Dr. Serio to some unlikely places.

He was the only American to work in the Organized Crime Control Department of the Soviet National Police prior to the collapse of the USSR. He later served as director of the Moscow office of a global corporate investigation and business intelligence firm. Dr. Serio is the author, co-author, or translator of nine books, including the critically-acclaimed book, Investigating the Russian Mafia.

He is also author of the Get the Nerve™ series of books, which includes Overcoming Fear: 50 Lessons on Being Bold and Living the Dream, Public Speaking: 50 Lessons on Presenting Without Losing Your Cool, and Time Management: 50 Lessons on Finding Time for What’s Important.

He has studied Russian, Chinese, and Spanish, including translating books from Russian and Spanish into English; learned to play the harmonica and guitar, and has recorded on CDs and played on stages in several countries; served as Editor-in-Chief of an international magazine; and taught at the university level, among other things.

Dr. Serio was a founding instructor of an institute for ethical leadership development for a county government agency and is a regular instructor on overcoming fear, emotional intelligence, time management, positive interaction with difficult people, leadership, customer service, public speaking, and managing personal finances at county government agencies, associations, and corporations.

He has made three documentary movies for A&E’s program, Investigative Reports, and has appeared in media around the world, including CNN, BBC, New York Times, Washington Post, Legal Realm (China), Sekai Nippo (Japan), Sol de Mexico, and others.  Find out more at www.joeserio.com
