It is the new year and most of the world will be setting resolutions to get rid of their physical behind. Most of those resolutions will end as quickly as they began with little to no change having happened. Why? According to my guest it is because of your BUT. Those three little letters that when combined can stop any resolution from starting and even can stop it, once set, from finishing.

How do you stop your BUT from stopping you? Take a listen and pen paper and pen or keyboard handy as we take you through an exercise to gain awareness of your BUT and stop it in its tracks.

036: Mary Riesberg – Hula Hoops, Life and Holding Yourself Up

What does a Hula Hoop have to do with the inner you? More than you can imagine. Picture this: You are a child playing with a hula hoop. Learning to spin it around and around without it dropping. As you are learning, it falls to the ground. You learn that you must be fully present in the motion of the hoop around your body in order to keep it spinning so it does not fall to the ground. While it is spinning your mind quiets, your joy expands and time passes quicker than you ever thought possible.

Now imagine all your responsibilities. Got them? Put them inside your hula hoop. Can you keep it spinning easily? No? Now bring some support to the hula hoop as it starts to fall from the weight. Better?

My guest today talks to us about how you can create your own personal hula hoop support system to find balance, create momentum and create a relationship with your faith.

34: Dr. Anna Cabeca – Normal may not be optimal

What if what you have come to accept as normal levels of health are not normal and definitely not optimal? What if the level of pain, swelling, physical and mental fitness that snuck up on you as you got older didn’t need to stay? How would your life be different? Be better?

I have been dealing with health issues for a number of years now and been asking question after question. Once I was told I was sick because I was depressed because I wasn’t with a man. As a woman, our symptoms are often discounted. It is up to all of us, women or men, to be our own best health advocate and to challenge the in-range blood work when we know there is something wrong.

My guest today challenges us to ask those questions and also gives us answers. It IS all about the questions you ask and on this show we learn some questions to ask yourself and your doctor and a few tests that everyone should have run the next time they go to the doctor’s for a physical.

Anna cabeca Dr. Anna Cabeca is a board certified Gynecologist and Obstetrician, as well as board certified in Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine, an expert in Functional Medicine, and an expert in women’s health. Dr. Cabeca earned her medical degree from Nova-Southeastern University of the Health Sciences in Florida. Since completing her residency at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, she has maintained a private practice in Southeast Georgia.

Dr. Cabeca frequently lectures nationally and internationally regarding restorative health and women’s health issues. She is a consultant and trainer for other physicians in Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy and Functional Medicine Principles.

A mother of five, Dr. Cabeca is a native English speaker who is conversant in four languages. Growing up in a multi-lingual and cultural household nurtured her love for international medicine and travel, which she pursues to this day. She has traveled around the world learning healing modalities from leading physicians, scientists, and other practitioners across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and South America.

Her belief is that the advantages of creating health and hormone balance are that we not only improve our own health, but also improve the health of our generations to follow.

031: Vero Beach Book Center – 40 years of books

40 years of books being an everyday part of life. Growing up in a bookstore with access to any book you could possibly want to read. I can only imagine what that would be like! My guest today runs the family bookstore that is an integral part of the local community and that regularly gets some of the top authors in the world today to come and speak and sign books and interact with their fans.

What makes them so successful when so many bookstores are closing? What have they learned about what makes a book successful? How do they work with new and emerging authors who don’t have major publishing deals yet have something to say in their books? How do you, as a potential author make sure you are doing the best things to get your books into a bookstore? What are they doing to celebrate 40 years of success?

And we answer the question everyone wants to know the answer to: Can you judge a book by its cover?
