7000+ Rare Insects and Reptiles Stolen

Police said it was an inside job: Whereabouts of some rare insects, lizards and snakes, including the venomous six-eyed sand spider, remain unknown — some 7,000 creatures missing in all. Their theft last month from the Philadelphia Insectarium came after security cameras caught employees moving boxes of critters out of the facility, its owner told CNN.

"I'm not sure there's ever been a larger live-insect heist," John Cambridge, the owner, told the network Wednesday. "Our insurance doesn't cover this. Why would they? This is unprecedented."

Missing creatures include zebra tarantulas, desert hairy scorpions and red spot assassin bugs, according to CNN. The New York Times adds more to the list: Giant African mantises, tiger hissers and domino cockroaches also disappeared. Strange Flying Creatures

Kelly in Starke, Florida called in to tell of his bizarre creature sightings:

“I guess I spend more time looking up into the sky then looking around in the woods but I’ve seen three different, distinct, weird things in the sky. One was a snake that had wings, one was best described as a jelly fish way up in the air and one was a bird with a wingspan so big that I was glad I was inside a vehicle when I seen it. And this was all in the middle of Georgia to where I am now, in Starke, Florida area. (Linda Godfrey, the guest, asked about the flying serpent) I had a good look at it through binoculars and I’ve gone through Google and everything and I feel like I’m losing my mind on some of this. But for the life of me, when weird stuff happens like that, you just don’t have a camera with you.”

Mississippi Werewolf

Chris in Winona, Mississippi called in to tell of a werewolf sighting he had:

“In the mid-80s, my cousin and I, we saw this, I’d call it a werewolf. We saw it on a gravel road but I was raised as a Christian so seeing something like this, it looked like it was beautiful but it was evil and it bothered me for a long time until about ‘94 – 1994. My mom called me and she said, 'They seen the same thing you and Elizabeth saw up in Wisconsin.' So I did a little research and it made me feel better. Like it wasn’t just me that saw this. You (Linda Godfrey was the guest that evening wrote the book Beast of Bray Road about a werewolf creature) being a real reporter and not being afraid to tell a real story and not just hiding it, like, I can’t do that, it would make me look crazy. I appreciate what you did because you actually helped me a lot because we saw, in 1986, in December.

I came back from Dallas to my little town in Mississippi where I was raised in. My cousin said, 'They’re having this Christmas party' and I said, 'Look, I want to see a deer. Because I hadn’t seen a deer in a long time so I’d been in the city. She said, We’ll take this poor house road, this little gravel road between these two main highways. And, so, we’re riding in a little Toyota pick-up, and the headlights hit what I thought was a deer, it was kinda hunched over in the road and she said, 'There’s one!' And she took off real fast with the bright lights on and we stopped maybe 25 feet from it, just thinking, it’s gonna run off into the woods and everything but it stayed there and it raised up and it was like, maybe, 7 feet tall but it had its back to us. And a little like rabbit or something, took off. I remember seeing it going off to the right and just for, maybe a second, it blurred. Kinda moved back and forth kind of like when you spin a top and, you know, you can’t see the pattern on the top because it becomes like a blur when it starts spinning. That’s why I think maybe it was from another dimension because it spun like that, I mean it kinda like blurred, then it stopped and then it turned around and it walked straight, not like a regular animal running in the woods to the left and the right to get away. Then it came straight for the driver’s side of the Toyota. I was in the passenger side and it was really, I mean it had fur, it had mud on the rump of it and it was wider in the middle, like you said, it was kind of leaning over toward the front, walking. The legs were, like, big, like a donkey or a mule or a horse but they were like a wolf, they had that backward look. It was an animal but I don’t know... I thought about it for years. I didn’t know. Did I see a spirit? I don’t know. It had the mud on it and it wasn’t afraid of us, like Linda said. For sure, it had a power, like, it looked at us like we were just stock piled in the road.

I think back now and, you know, it could have killed us if it wanted to. It walked right by. When it got to the front of the Toyota, it was a two little wheel drive, I was in the passenger side, it was so tall that I couldn’t see when it got close to the front. And it started walking right down her side of the truck and she looked up at this hing... she looked straight up at it... I couldn’t see what was going on, all I could see was the fur and the rump and all that as it came by her driver’s side window and she made this weird sound, like she was sucking air. Like she just looked straight. And I turned around and looked and as it walked by the back window of the truck and it just kind of, it walked funny like a dog’s legs on the back, you know, there are many different... when it (a dog) stands up, it looks like its almost crippled when it walks. it’s knees were backwards. And as it went on by, I thought, my god, you know, what is that? And it jumped up on a little sage grass bank and it kinda looked... It kinda cocked its head and looked at me just with his right eye. It never looked me right in the eyes, like straight over. I think I would have passed out. My cousin, when it jumped off in the woods, she said, 'That didn’t look right.' And we’re still sitting there idling. (Linda asks if its scratched the truck.) No, but it was so bold, it came along her truck and walked real slow. It wasn’t running or nothing like an animal, it just walked. It wasn’t afraid and I said, 'It looked like a wolf' and she looked at me and she said, 'So you saw the same thing I saw?' And she went to the preacher, she asked them, 'What was it?' He said, some people see demons, some people see angels. But for years, it bothered me so bad but when Linda came out with the Bray Road Beast and I started seeing sketches of it. I thought, okay, that’s exactly what we saw and it really helped me and I appreciate what you’re doing.”

The Most Beautiful People She Had Ever Seen

Near Sydney, Australia - 1978 - 1830 hours: The 18-year old witness, who had earlier felt a strange compulsion to leave for the weekend and rent a room at an isolated, old hotel on the coast, was in her room, which overlooked the water, sitting on a chair, as it was getting dark. After about an hour she noticed a very bright light up in the sky that seemed to be moving in her direction. The bright object suddenly began to descend and began hovering very close to the window, only about 50 feet above the water. Then after an apparent time lapse, she found herself opening her eyes and now lying flat on her bed, it was now daylight and she soon was stunned to learn that two days had passed without her remembering anything. She went back home and as she sat in her room pondering what had happened, an avalanche of thoughts poured into her brain. She soon remembered that as she sat in the chair staring at the light she suddenly found herself onboard of what appeared to be a "spacecraft."

Disoriented she watched a group of "people" standing in front of her. There were two men and three women, the men were the closest to her, and the women just a few feet behind them. She described the humanoids as the most beautiful people she had ever seen. They all had jet black hair, and the most pearl/blue piercing eyes she had ever seen, their skin was extremely pale and their complexions flawless. Feeling scared she reached into her hand bag and grabbed a pair of scissors, holding them in both hands straight in front of her, in a threatening gesture. She yelled at the "aliens" not to come any closer to her. The man nearest to her simply smiled, then very slowly began to raise his arm until it was straight out in front of him. The scissors that the witness was holding suddenly began to melt; each part of the scissors began to roll back in a curling motion, until they wound up in a very tight curl. The man closest to her was the only one to speak and told the witness not to worry that they were not going to hurt her that they only needed to look at something.

The same man told her that they needed to look at her hands. He then gestured for her to follow and walked on a corridor that had a slight elevation upside. After about 10 feet they reached what appeared to be an alcove or indentation on the wall. There was a small apparatus there that looked like a mirrored surface, 2' by 2'. She was asked to place her hands on top of the machine, as they needed to get a record. The man then walked down the corridor and left the witness alone. The man returned then gesture at the witness to again follow him down the corridor. They stopped beside a room and was told to please wait there. Curious she entered the room, and noticed that it was shaped somewhat like a half diamond, with slanting walls and ceiling. The entire room was an odd red/rust color. She then walked out of the room and followed the corridor in an upward direction. The corridor came up to a very large room, that was nearly pitch black, and the only thing in the entire room was a very comfortable looking recliner chair. She approached the chair and placed her hand on the armrest, immediately the room seem to change, and she felt "alone in the Universe." She repeated this several times but soon the now familiar man appeared and told her not to touch the chair again and to follow him, as she walked down the corridor again, she suddenly found herself on the bed back at the hotel.

“So I got a story. Back in about 2005 or 2006, I used to drive a semi and I was diving at night through Monticello, Utah on Highway 491 which is the old 666 quote unquote Devil’s Highway. And I was driving through Monticello, doing about 65 miles per hour. I had the road to myself, not a single soul in sight and something ran upside me on all fours. I had no idea what it was and it kept speed with me at about 65 miles per hour and then it... I swear... it stood up on two legs, it was bipedal, and darted out about 10 feet in front of me and then ran across my headlights to the right of me off the road. It freaked me out and, so, of course, I ran out of hours to operate at about Newcomb, New Mexico, and then I shut it down. Not thinking anything of it. It was just an animal or whatever and then I laid down to sleep and about an hour into sleeping, something... and no vehicle went by, nothing, but something started shaking the cab of my truck, I had no idea what it was. I just slammed on the lights and I just started driving. I still don’t know what it was.”

1st Fukushima Radiation Death Announced

For the first time since a devastating earthquake and tsunami triggered meltdowns at Japan's Fukushima nuclear power plant in 2011, the Japanese government says a former plant worker has died as a result of radiation exposure.

The country's health and labor ministry has said the man's family should be paid compensation, according to state broadcaster NHK.

It's not clear precisely when the man died. He was in his 50s, NHK said, and his duties included "measuring radiation levels at the plant immediately after the severe nuclear accident." He left his job there in 2015, and was diagnosed with lung cancer before his death.

The ministry said that he "developed cancer due to total radiation exposure of around 195 millisieverts," NHK reported. According to Reuters, exposure to 100 millisieverts of radiation in a year "is the lowest level at which any increase in cancer risk is clearly evident." Rogue Kangaroo Loose in Austria

Austrians often lament having their European country mistaken for Australia - which is 14,000km (8,700 miles) away - and a kangaroo sighting there may complicate matters.

The animal, native to Australia, was spotted by residents in the forest and meadows near the small town of Kirchschlag in northern Austria.

Police confirmed multiple sightings over the weekend but told the BBC on Tuesday the mystery marsupial remained at large.

"It sounds unbelievable, but it's true," a local police official, who declined to be named, told the news agency AFP. Read more at Mystery kangaroo in Austria still on the loose

The Face of the 'Hat Man'

Jeff in Austin, Texas called in to tell her weird story:

“Last week I was in downtown Austin, Congress Avenue visiting a local Honda bar. It’s a well-known place for paranormal activity out here in Austin. I met a young man and I asked him if he had any ghost stories about the place. He said that yes, he did. He told me a few. Then he told me, 'You know, there’s something that still bothers me from when I was a kid.' I said, 'What is that?' He said, 'When I was 6 years old, in my bedroom, I saw a dark, shadowy figure that was wearing a trench coat and a hat.' I said, 'What kind of a hat?' He said, 'A little bit of a broader rimmed hat.' I said, 'Like a fedora?' He said, 'What’s a fedora?' I went on to describe what a fedora looked like. He said, 'Yeah, that’s it.' I said, 'What happened then? Did it come closer to you?' He said, 'No, it just stood there.' I said, 'Did you see its face?' He said, 'No, I didn’t see its face.' I said, 'What did you do then?' He said, 'I just pulled the covers up over my head.' I said, 'Of course, I understand that.' He said, 'I looked all over the place. I tried to meet people who saw the same thing. It’s all over the internet,' he told me. I said, 'Ironically, I have not found anything on the internet like that but you just met someone that saw the same thing you did.'

I was 14 years old. I’m 47 years old now. I was in my house. I had an old friend of mine, I grew up with across the street. And the house was wide open. My parents were gone for the evening which was unusual. Front and back doors open. We had screen doors. I was trying to air the place out. It was the summer time. We went back to the old kitchen, back towards the back door to go outside and right on the other side of the screen door, we saw the same thing – this dark, shadowy figure. It looked like it was wearing a trench coat. It was the 'Hat Man.' I looked it up online. That’s what I saw. Here’s the thing that’s different from all the other stories I saw online – I actually saw the face. And the face was a skull. Yeah, it was a skeleton. From what I can tell, the only part of the body I could see was the face. It was a skull. It was wearing a trench coat and it had the fedora cap on its head and it just stood there. And so I looked at my buddy that I had grown up with and I could see his eyes were wide ope. He had the look of fear on his face. I looked at him and he looked at me and we ran outside, through the old house, back to the front of the house, out the door, back across the road to his old house. We stood there wondering, what are we going to do? Before anything, I said, 'What did you see? I know you saw something, I saw your face.' And he told me what he saw. And I said, 'Well, we saw the same thing.' I said, 'We got to go back over there. My house is wide open. I can’t just leave it like that. My parents will come home and kill me.' And so I said, 'I’m going back to the house and you’re coming with me.' He said, 'No I’m not.' I said, 'Yes, you are. You’re coming back with me.'

I was terrified. And that’s not the first thing that happened in that house but that’s another story. But this was the time I saw that apparition, entity, whatever it was. We wet back into the house. Nothing was there. The house was still wide open. Nothing behind the back screen door. Nothing was there. But we did see the same thing. And this young man that I met, at this particular bar in Austin. I was not drinking by the way. I was just asking questions. He said I have other stories about this place and he told me, after our conversations about ghost stories and what not, it was entertaining, but he told me that he had seen the same thing I had. He was 6 years old. I was 14. We both saw the same thing.”

“About 8 years ago, I was living in northern NM in a small town called Alcalde. We had a friend who lived in an adobe house about a quarter mile away. His house had an adobe wall around the house and garage, unlike most of the homes there. He was a religious man and we sometimes discussed spiritual things, much to the amusement of my boyfriend at the time. One night he told me in all seriousness that about 15 years prior, he had seen 3 large man-size owls perched on each side of the wall around his property one night. He said they were about 4-5 ft. tall each, and were making strange cries. He ran back into his house and locked all the doors and windows and prayed, he said. He was shaking, very emotional when he told me his story so I believe he was telling the truth about what he'd seen. I had read that people with ET encounters can have screening memories of grays, so I asked him if he'd seen a UFO but he insisted he hadn't. That's all he would ever say about it.” - Wendy G

San Francisco, CA - 1994-05-10 - 14:05: I was about to take a nap in a friend’s loft on the 5th floor of an apartment building on Market Street in San Francisco in the spring of 1994. I was lying down for about a half hour and not asleep when suddenly a tall white alien figure about 7 feet tall appeared at the right side of the loft bed. It had large blue eyes and a huge white head with two dots for nostrils and a tiny mouth. It had skinny pencil thin arms torso and legs. All long. It was waving its arms up and down and suddenly touched me and numbed me with its left arm closest to the bed. I could not move. Then another tall white head appeared at the right end of the bed and it looked like the other tall white alien. It also numbed me with its waving skinny arm and they both lifted me up and took me through a large window at the foot of the loft and the last thing I remember was looking down over Market Street.

The next thing I remember was being on a metal table aboard their ship I guess. Several aliens of various sizes were standing around me in a room and there were curtains around the table I was on. one of them had a large needle like object. One of the tall whites told me through telepathy that they were not going to harm me and would return me soon. I was scared but the next thing I remember is waking up back in the loft.

I told my friend when she returned as she did alien paintings and I think they were looking to abduct her. not me, because she had had many strange experiences. I had no disruption to my life there after oddly enough and no nightmares.

Years later I did trauma therapy with Jed Turnbull in Manhattan and he works with the group of abductees in New York City, he said as long as it does not affect my life then not to worry.

It hasn’t really affected my life. I think like many abductees I have read about, I wondered if it really happened, but I know it did. - MUFON

'Sick Flight' Lands at JFK

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – A plane from Dubai landed at JFK Airport and was held away from the terminal after several passengers on board reported feeling sick.

The Emirates Airbus A380 arrived at Terminal 4 and was met by the Centers for Disease Control and Port Authority police. Seven crew members and passengers were transported to a Jamaica Hospital in Queens.

Emirates Flight 203 landed in New York Wednesday shortly after 9 a.m. with 500 people on board. It was a direct flight from Dubai and did not make a stop in Mecca as the New York mayor’s office erroneously reported earlier.

Shortly before 10:30 a.m., Emirates Airlines said only about 10 passengers from Dubai had taken ill. Previous reports estimated the number of sick passengers at closer to 100 people.

Bizarre Canine-Like Creature

Sarah in Ashland, Oregon called to tell of her weird dog creature sighting:

“I wanted to tell you about a supernatural experience I had about seven years ago. I live in southern Oregon. And I was driving on Upper Applegate Road to my job at a small ranch and I had heard about a fatality accident. Quite terrible accident that had occurred on that road. The road is rural and it’s quite winding. And so I was looking as I was driving to my job, I was looking onto the road to see if I could see where the crash occurred because I wanted to be a better driver, a more careful driver. So I came to a point where I came around a bend and I saw these horrendous skid marks all over the road and just as I was observing these skid marks, I saw this dog-like creature from my side of the road, run across the road in front of me, right over the skid marks and into this embankment that was on a 90 degree angle. This dog-like creature started to just run right up this embankment that was at a degree angle and then it just disappeared. And then I was driving slowly because it was a difficult corner and I was absolutely in shock because I'm fairly familiar with wildlife and this was the type of creature that I had never seen before or since and it vanished. It vanished into this embankment.

To this day I just have no explanation for what it was. It kind of looks like the pictures of Chupacabra on the internet that I seen because it wasn’t large, it was larger than a dog and kind of hairy and shaggy and hunched over looking. It was very fast. It was very fast and the way it climbed up the side of the embankment was very unnatural for most animals. I don't know what to make of it but I thought it was very eerie to me that I saw this creature right at the same spot where there had been this horrendous fatality accident. I arrived at the ranch, I felt very shaken because I couldn't wrap my head around what I had seen but, you know, that was my story. That’s what I saw. I have no idea what that creature was. It was kind of ugly looking, very shaggy, dirty looking something, I don’t know but it completely disappeared into the side of this embankment. It just disappeared. It startled me because I was on alert because I was looking for the place where these people had skidded out. And, you know, I had my mind on that and I wasn't expecting to see this creature run across the road. It was very unexpected. And, you know, the creature was far enough ahead of me that I didn’t have to slam on my brakes but I could clearly see it. And then it just started up the embankment at a 90 degree angle and disappeared.”

“This occurred about twenty years ago. I was going through a really bad divorce. There was a lot of violence in the marriage and stuff and the doctor had given me some medication to help me sleep. Now I was lying in bed. I was lying on my stomach and all of a sudden I felt a very heavy pressure sit on the side of the bed right next to me and I tried to get up to... Well, I was concerned that it was my soon-to-be ex-husband maybe sitting next to me. But I was trying to turn around to see but I couldn't and all of a sudden I heard, it was like a woman laugh. Like a woman who was a really heavy smoker. And she laughed. Very gravelly sounding or that's what I call it. And I tried to sit up again and it was like she flung herself back on top of me and she was just laughing and laughing. So I tried to reach my arm around and I grabbed the hair on the head and I pulled it... and the head came off. And it hung by the hair and I looked at it. It was a really wrinkly, old face. (Art Bell asked what she did next) I fainted, actually. It woke up while it was in my hand. Then, and I seen my dog was whimpering and sniffing at me. When I woke up, there was a few strands of hair in my hand so, for a minute there, I wanted to throw them away, you know, throw them out, get them away, then I thought, I'm gonna put them on the night-stand and so I did. I sat up in bed for a long long time. Finally the dog fell asleep. He seemed pretty calm. So I went back to sleep fortunately. So I woke up the next morning and I remembered what had happened and I looked over to the dresser where I had put the hair and they were gone and I was so very terrified.”

Vanishing Hermit

Weird story published in The (Camden, New Jersey) 'Courier-Post' on July 11, 1932:

A mysterious hermit, with long- flowing beard and a chilling cackle, led two Boy Scout leaders Saturday midnight to the body of a murdered man in a Delaware County, Pa., woods.

Then, as he showed them the remains, the hermit disappeared.

An all-night and all-day search of the vicinity has failed to locate him. The murdered man has not been identified.

The Scout leaders were Wilmer Brown, 31, scoutmaster of the Colwyn Troop, and Walter Hawks, his assistant. They were on their way to the Scout camp on Darby Creek, Delaware township.

When the two were at the edge of the woods, the hermit appeared. Flashlights of the Scouts picked out his weird countenance from among the heavy brush and trees. "Do you want to see something?" the hermit asked in his strange, cackling way.

"Yes," the two replied, although later admitting they were frightened for the moment. Then the hermit led them through thicket and underbrush, over little used by-paths and through parts of the woods where no paths at all appeared.

He came to a little clearing. Bending over, he parted the underbrush and said one word" "Look."

Brown and Hawks complied. They saw, with startled eyes, the form of a man. A gun lay close at hand. They advanced into the thicket to get a closer view. Then turning to question the hermit, they discovered he had silently vanished.

The Scouts ran to the Springfield township police headquarters. Sergeant Chandler was on duty. He called Coroner J. Evan Scheehle of Delaware County and a searching party set out.

It took them nearly two hours to again reach the spot where the body of the man lay. At first it was believed he was a suicide. But no bullet holes were found In his tattered clothing nor his decomposed body.

The body was taken to the county morgue and an autopsy performed. Then it was disclosed that the man had been beaten to death. Two shots had been fired from the gun near at hand, but neither entered the body of the man.

His clothing, though worn and tattered by exposure, told police the man had been well-to-do. Expensive dental work furnished a clue.

Police are checking with all dentists of the Philadelphia area in hopes of identifying the man. Meanwhile the hunt for the mysterious hermit with the white, flowing whiskers continues.

Pitch-Black Humanoid Figure

Morgantown, WV - 11/1/2004 - 21:00: It was approximately 9PM, and I was in my bed watching television. Directly above my bed are three windows with 12"x"12 glass panels. The television was to the left of my bed. Suddenly, my attention was drawn to the floor approximately four feet from the desk my television was on. What I saw was a beam moving very quickly in small circles in one concentrated spot on my floor. The circle motions it made were not perfect, the best I can describe them as were "wobbly circles". The beam was solid, pure solid light and approximately an inch wide...it was fairly thin. The color was a pure white with somewhat of a blueish tinge around the outside of the beam. The beam itself was bright, but did not seem to emit any light beyond its edges. My room was NOT filled with light, only this beam. I was able to watch for about 5 seconds before I fled my room in a state of total panic. I was not able to tell exactly which of the three windows the beam was aimed through, but assuming that had it beamed straight into my room onto the wall parallel it would be 90 degrees, I would estimate that it hit my floor at a diagonal angle of about 60 degrees. When I got downstairs, I looked outside to see any evidence of a craft (I have never to my knowledge witnessed a UFO) and there was none. There were no aircraft of any kind besides high-flying commercial planes. I did not tell anyone in my house about what I had seen. I wasn't sure if my mind was playing tricks on me or what had actually happened, but I saw something. When I checked the area later, there was no evidence whatesoever of the beam having ever touched my floor.

Two days later, on November 3, 2004, I witnessed one more anomalous event which I believe may be connected, and this time my younger brother was also witness. A PITCH black figure, which appeared to be two dimensional, in a very humanoid form quickly passed across a window and wall which were directly in front of where we were sitting, about 12 feet away. The figure had NO discernable features in its face, no clothing, no hair. Just a round head and human like torso were all we were able to make out. It was impossible to make a height estimate. It was for certain INSIDE our house, not a reflection from outside. The sighting of this "being" lasted 3-4 seconds. There was no logical explanation for what we saw, it was most certainly paranormal. I have seen a figure like that once before and I am certain it was of the same nature. - NUFORC

'Black Bigfoot' Encountered Along I-40 in Eastern Tennessee

I received a telephone call on Saturday September 1st from a truck driver who claimed to have had an encounter with an 8ft tall hairy hominid. The incident occurred on Thursday August 30th at approximately 12:30 AM.

The witness stated that he was traveling eastbound on I-40 between Nashville and Knoxville, Tennessee. He had been having trouble with the right headlight on his rig going on and off, so he pulled off near the 334 mile marker, a few miles west of Roane County.

He pulled back the hood in order to work on the headlight. He had a super bright LED flashlight with him. As he was examining the headlight, he heard movement in the trees behind him. The trees were only 20-25 feet away, and the sounds were similar to those of a person walking.

He pointed the flashlight in the direction of the trees, when he instantly noticed bright 'eye shine' looking back at him. As he continued to observe, an unknown creature stepped out into the open. He was mortified because he had never seen anything like this. I asked for a description. He stated that is was an '8-foot man with long black hair all over its body' and that the face looked 'strange...deformed.' He also stated that it had a 'narrow waist, huge wide shoulders and no neck.' I asked if he thought that it was a Bigfoot. He hesitated and stated 'I suppose it was, but it didn't look like the ones I've seen on TV.'

The being stood beside a medium-sized tree and simply glared at the witness. There were no sounds, though it slightly swayed side to side. The witness said that it stood silent for almost 20 seconds, then ducked behind the tree. It continued to watch the witness, who quickly closed the truck hood and left the area.

The witness stated that he has been an outdoorsman and hunter in eastern Tennessee for most of his life, and that he had never encountered anything like this before. He regularly travels I-40, usually twice per week. I asked if he has ever heard of similar encounters by other people, which he responded 'I've heard stories, but never believed that those things existed around here.'

The witness found my sighting report advertisement on Google and decided to call. He stated that he was hesitant to make a report, but the encounter 'shook me up so bad' and 'I felt I needed to tell someone.'

“You wanted a strange story so here’s my strange story. First let me say that I'm the ultimate skeptic. I’m not one that believes in ghosts and stuff that goes bump in the night. As you can tell, I'm from the south. I do a lot of fishing at night. I call it lazy man fishing. You put a lure on the end and put a bell on the end and you pole watch the thing.

So I'm fishing one night. I'm down there on the lake. And I gotta say I keep myself...I'm always armed. I like to believe that if you can get through twelve rounds then you can get to me, so I feel pretty safe. So I'm fishing one night and I get through fishing and I'm getting ready to leave. I load everything up and I pull out onto the main road and I see this dog come across the road, or what I think is a dog. It’s about 50 yards up the road. It turns around and looks at my direction. It looks straight at me but it ain’t got no eye-shine which I find weird because it should have eye-shine. So I get along and it’s in the left hand lane and I drive by. I look down at the dog and the dog looked weird to me. I thought, there’s something strange about that dog. Well, I go on past him and go up the road, curiosity gets the best of me so I turn around.

So I come back down the road and there’s the dog, or the animal, down in the ditch. Now to give you an example of the size of the animal, I have a Mountain Cur named Charlie. He’s probably 45 to 50 pounds, if you know what a Cur dog is, you know about the size I’m talking about. So I pull down into the ditch. I mean, headlights on bright, you know, I’m less than ten feet from this animal, I’m looking at it out the windshield, I'm looking at it. This dog ain’t got no hair and his eyes are a little bit larger than normal what a dog’s eyes would be and they are solid black. I have no idea what it could be. Like I said, I'm a skeptic. I know what I saw. If I'm lying, I’m dying. (George Noory, the host, asks if it had mange) that’s what I thought but no, it looked..it didn’t have the, you know, usually with a dog with mange, it’s got patches of hair on it. This didn’t have no patches of hair anywhere on it. (Noory asks if it was a dog) Well, I say it was a dog but with black eyes. You never know. It was strange. I cant explain it.”

A Lifetime of Strange Events

Hello Lon, I really enjoy your site, you have an honesty about you, which I trust, and is the reason I'm sharing my experience with you. I'd like to request to remain anonymous, people would think I'm crazy and I already have enough on my plate in my life at this time. Why tell my experience then? Well, because I feel it might help someone else who may have experienced something like I did. I have 4 encounters to share with you. 3 happened where I currently reside.

I was working at a hospital at the time and went to walk my dog at about 4:30 in the morning. As I was coming down the stairs I happened to glance up and saw exactly what your friend saw in her backyard, for a split second I noticed something just like that in the predator movies. It moved towards the chain link fence surrounding the front yard, I KNOW what I saw and I KNEW "it" knew I had seen it, since I was going down the stairs, I didn't want to fall and had to look down and when I looked back up it was gone. I know within my soul what I saw and it seemed a little amazed/startled that I saw it although I got the strong sense it wasn't particularly friendly. The best way to say it was it seemed a little annoyed with me for actually seeing it, like an adult would be if a child saw them doing something maybe they shouldn't have been doing. I continued to take my dog, walking towards where I had seen it. I wasn't afraid because somehow I knew it wasn't there anymore. My dog didn't notice it at all.

About the same time, maybe a few months later, I was walking out of work to take a break. The sun was just starting to rise, the sky went colors were light to dark blue and I happened to glance over to see a large airplane moving across the sky, in its path leaving an orange trail of exhaust. I remember thinking how pretty the dark blue, light blue and orange colors looked in the sky. That's when I notice two UFO'S by the plane. One was below it by the back end the other was above it almost in the middle but more towards the back end. Again I looked down for a split second and when I looked up again they were gone and the plane moved out of my range of view. They were both shaped like a short stack top hat, I was in awe that I saw this.

The next one happened when I was sleeping one night. I remember waking terrified, never experienced any terror like I felt that night. I could not open my eyes at all. I know all about sleep terrors from reading about them but don't believe this is what happened to me. I was panicking inside, full of horrible terror and all of a sudden heard what I KNEW was two beings communicating with each other, in their language, which sounded like clicking noises of different degrees, but I could also understand them telepathically and knew what they were saying. The one that was farther from me, who seemed like someone in a superior position to the one next to me, told it, 'she's awake.' I got the sense he was a little startled that I was awake and aware of them, then still terrified beyond words I just knew I had to wake up. I still couldn't open my eyes but was fully awake and aware, it was like being in two dimensions at once. I moved one arm against what I believed was their will, to my other arm so I could scratch my other arm as hard as I could to wake myself up but just couldn't. All this time I'm screaming in my head for my daughter in the the next room to come out and help me. In my mind I'm screaming 'help, help me wake up,' but I could hear myself quite clearly and was only moaning really loudly. Something told me to say the Lord's prayer, which is about the only Bible verse I know, and I did. All of a sudden I felt a sense of the most blissful eternal peace you could ever imagine, no words can even describe that sense of peace that came over me like a blanket. In a instant I was in a very deep sleep. I woke the next day holding on to that sense of peace for a few days. It was so intense but at night, before going to sleep for the next few days I slept with a knife under my pillow. I knew it couldn't have done anything to help me if they came back but it gave me a little piece of mind.

A few months later I woke up again, inside myself but unable to open my eyes. Same situation but this time I felt stronger and yelled / moaned really really loud and my daughter woke up and came out and started shaking me. It felt like I was pulled "into" my apt. It hasn't happened again, thank God!

The last happened when I was around 8, we lived in California. I was sitting in our living room playing with a new kitty, and across from the living room was our kitchen. I was the only one in the apt at this time, when all of a sudden, the kitchen light turned off and the kitchen door opened and closed, just like someone was leaving to go to the store for a minute. I was so scared I ran outside to stay with my sistes boyfriend. This apt was supposedly haunted by a man who was stabbed and died in the living room, which nothing ever happened in the living room, only the hallway and kitchen. My mom, sister, her boyfriend and two of their friends saw the face of a ghost in the hallway. Also at Christmas time, our tree stood right next to the hallway entrance and several times presents would fall over and ornaments would fly off the tree when no one was over in that area. I tried to look up and find any information on someone dying in that apt but couldn't find anything. I have also noticed that I sometimes have weird things happen when I'm around electricity, like lights have switched off, and streetlights will go off when I'm under them, hand-held electronics will go a little haywire when I use them. I read something about this and found it interesting. It doesn't happen all the time, just occasionally.
