6 Foot Hairy Cryptid Roaming Rural Haralson County, Georgia

A rural Haralson County, Georgia resident has encountered an unknown hairy being around their property. There have been reports of animal attacks in the area as well. Is it a Bigfoot, or something else?

I following account was recently forwarded to me:

"I live in rural Haralson County in northwest Georgia. One night as I was taking the dogs out, I was standing on the edge of the patio. And while my senior dog was pulling to go back inside and I was trying to coax him onto the grass, my pup suddenly lunged forwards and was really freaking out. When I looked up, I saw 'IT', or at least I’m 99% certain that what I saw was it. It was standing by one of the big trees at the edge of the woods, sort of half hidden behind it.
It didn’t really remind me of a Bigfoot all that much, at least from what I imagine they look like (sort of like a gorilla/person, right?). I tried looking further into it and stumbled upon the 'Alabama White Thing,' since I live just a few miles from the Alabama border.
It stood about 6 ft tall when I compared it to the branches on the trees (I tend to do a lot of work at those two trees it was standing at). It seemed to have light colored fur or hair. It was bipedal but the ‘legs’ were more like an animal’s anatomically. It had fairly long arms in comparison to its body. I didn’t really see its face but if I had to guess I wouldn’t say it was very flat nor very ‘snouty’. I didn’t see a tail but it wasn’t all in clear view. This is a description of me laying eyes on this thing for like a few seconds max, as I hurried to drag my dogs back inside.
Needless to say I didn’t mind one bit that they had accidents that night, and started taking the dogs out in the front yard. I would cross the road with them but there’s more woods there.
But speaking of the woods across the road, a week or so after I started going out in the front, it seemed to have caught up on that. Now I either hear it coming from those woods (at least there’s more distance between us there), or from the woods in the back but further to the left (where I would be visible from).
A week or two ago I had a friend over for the night because their car broke down near me and it was Sunday so it couldn’t be towed until the next day. At around 1 am they wanted to go get some snacks and my dogs were being annoying because they didn’t get to play that day, so we decided to make the 20 min walk to a small gas station. But we kept hearing rustling in the woods, like something was following. And as usual with this thing, the dogs didn’t seem to know whether to lunge out or run. But when we encounter animals it’s all excitement and wanting to go check it out, nothing like the fight of flight battle they were having. We had somebody come pick us up at the gas station and drop us back off at home.
I’ve also overheard a conversation about a neighbor’s dog that passed. I’ve seen her a couple times because she used to break off from her tie-out. She was a nice dog, a husky malamute mix I believe (why anyone would have one of those in Georgia is beyond me, but that’s beside the point).
Apparently they let her out at night and she didn’t come back. The following morning they went looking for her and found her with a broken neck but nothing else. I’m not sure how true that is, but it does frighten me for my own dogs.
And somebody about a 10 minute walk out used to have horses on their property but apparently had to move them because they began breaking out.
So that’s where we’re at now.
My dogs are staying leashed 24/7 now, I always have a flashlight handy, and I’m looking into my self defense options as an immigrant...
I just hope things don’t get any worse." LM

The 'Egg People' of the Pocomoke Forest, Maryland

I found the following information recently. There are a lot of strange stories that come out of Maryland's Eastern Shore, but I can't say that I have heard much about the 'egg people.' If you have further information, please feel free to forward to me.

"In 1973, a local journal in Maryland told about a Mr Wood who told, among other stories, that his friend Dan Long, from Somerset county, told him that one night in the Pocomoke Forest, apparently in 1965, he had met the "Egg People".

This Mr Wood told that Mr Long told him that he went on a beer blast with some friends in that forest around Westover, in an area where a Perdue poultry farm was located, and where there was one spot near that farm where the company would dump all the unfertilized or otherwise faulty eggs.

Apparently this Mr Long and his friends, near this dump, were startled when dogs barked, and then saw four or five Egg-People, whitish and glowing, with large egg-like heads, coming from the egg dump.

There were apparently more rumors about these "Egg-People" in the next years."

Mark Opsasnick reports that the following account about an occurrence in the late 1960s, in town of Westover, Somerset County Maryland, appeared in the October 25, 1973 edition of the Eastern Shore Times and was run again in the same paper on October 31, 1974:

"Mr Wood also tells of a story that he heard from Dan Long, a friend of his from Somerset county. Mr Long had recounted his experience one night in the Pocomoke Forest, when he met the Egg People."

"According to Mr Wood, Mr Long told him that he went on a beer blast with some friends, into the Pocomoke Forest around Westover. This was in an area where a Perdue poultry farm was located. There was one spot near the farm where Perdue would dump all the eggs that were unfertilized or had something wrong with them."

"Mr Long and his friends were near this dump, when they were startled by a sound of dogs barking. Then from the dump came four or five "People" - whiteish and glowing - with large egg-like heads."

Mark Opsasnick notes that all the following "Egg People" or "Egg Monster" stories are said to have taken place during a 2 or 3 week period around Halloween of either 1968 or 1969, and at this point in time none of the witnesses he contacted could remember the exact dates.

There are dozens of stories about the Pocomoke Forest: ghosts, the ghost of a little girl looking for her lost red shoes, "Egg-people", a "Goat-Man", some "white bigfoot" etc.

Mark Chorvinsky (1954-2005) was a Fortean researcher of skeptical orientation and was the editor, publisher and founder of Strange Magazine. He is famous for debunking the the British Museum Crystal Skull and the Mitchell-Hedges Crystal Skull mythology in the 1980's.

Mark Opsasnick is well-known for his book on The Doors' Jim Morrison and interviews of band members. He also has an interest in Fortean phenomena, possessions, and Bigfoot, and wrote numerous articles for Strange Magazine and a book on the Maryland Bigfoot sightings.

What we have there is however nothing more than a story by the man who heard the story from the man who saw, the whole according to a newspaper, without particular confirmations.

'O'Hare Mothman,' UFOs & Alien Being Experiences Continually Reported by Airport Personnel

The following account was posted by Phantoms & Monsters Fortean Research investigator Manuel Navarette on UFO Clearinghouse. A cargo company employee at O'Hare International Airport reports various unexplained sightings and encounters experienced by himself and others on the job. Any further interviews and information will be posted.

This report was sent in to the UFO Clearinghouse email late last week. The witness is an employee at O’Hare International Airport and works for one of the large cargo companies that fly in and out of the airport. In his report he tells of multiple sightings of UFO’s, and humanoid entities, including a winged humanoid both at work and at home. The witness has been contacted by UFOCH investigators to set up a face to face interview. As soon as the witness has been contacted, we will post any new developments and investigation information to the website within 24-48 hours:

My name is *redacted* and I am 34 years old and live in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. I work at O’Hare International Airport for *redacted* where I am a member of the ground crew. I have worked for *redacted* for the last 8 years and have seen a lot of strange things in my time there. I have also heard from others of the strange things that are seen and heard at O’Hare at all hours of the day and night. Anyone who has worked in and around the “cargo” facility for more than a few months has seen the strange lights in the sky or have seen anything from ghosts to strange creatures of all manners at least once. The entire airport itself is spooky, with many strange tunnels that are sealed off and forbidden to even go near to strange military vehicles that come and go at all hours of the day and night. There’s even an old graveyard on the airport grounds.

I have seen my fair share of things, I’ve seen a lot of UFO’s in the air above the airport, strange creatures that seem to hang around the airport, including the one they call the Mothman. These sightings mostly occur toward the evening and night. I work second shift, so I get out later in the evening and have seen many of these strange lights after 10-11 p.m. There is one object dubbed the “Diamond Craft” it’s a large diamond shaped light that frequently appears in the sky around the perimeter of the airport on some nights. It’s pretty well known to many of the ground crews that work throughout the airport and can sometimes be seen 2-3 nights in a row. It frequently appears in the same general area and hangs around for about 5-10 minutes before disappearing.

One night, about the 4th of July 2020, I was outside overseeing the unloading of a plane when myself and a group of four people all saw what looked like a large person with wings fly over us, it was about 20 feet above us and flew right over us with very little sound. It looked basically as I said, a large man about 6 feet tall with a very large pair of batlike wings. It was solid black, so much so that it stood out against the sky and lights of the airport. It was over in a matter of a few seconds and people joked that we had just seen the “Mothman” and the conversation quickly turned to the many sightings that people have had in and around the airport of something similar. I have had multiple encounters with UFO’s and their occupants that have been ongoing for the last 2 years.

I have seen what I can only describe as aliens on at least 8 occasions, both at work and at home. It all started back in 2018, it was around May and I looked up into the sky as I was moving from one building to the next and saw a large circular object that was giving off a green glow, it hovered silently about 100 feet from the ground and I as I looked up at it, I got the strange sensation that the object or something in it was looking back at me. I picked up the pace and tried to get into the building but the closer I got to the door an overwhelming urge came over me to stop and look up at the object. It finally got too much to bear and I stopped about 20 feet from the door and looked up just in time to see the object slowly drift away and higher into the sky. It continued its upward trend for about 10 seconds before it simply disappeared from sight.

My first encounter with seeing one of the aliens happened a month later, I went to the office to get a set of extra keys that were needed to access a storage locker. The office was dark as the people in it had all left sometime earlier. I went in, got the keys and was walking out when something made me stop and look out into the hallway toward the stairs and I saw what looked like a medium sized man looking right at me. We looked at each other for what seemed like a minute before I turned away and when I looked again, it was gone. The freak out then came over me, It looked like what you see on TV, grey skin and very large black almost insect like eyes. It had no lips to speak of, only a thin slit and was at least 3 inches shorter than I am (I’m 5’10). I must have sounded like an idiot basically hyperventilating in an empty dark office but within a few minutes, I had regained my composure. Surprisingly, I was not afraid and have not ever sensed a reason to be afraid, they can look scary as hell but I have never felt like I was in danger. I have since then seen them only from a distance, usually in the shadow or trying to hide and observe.

I have sensed them at home, but have never seen them inside the house, I have caught glimpses of them looking into the window but those were only momentary glimpses as they seem to be able to anticipate me looking toward them and quickly get out of sight. I have a dog who will bark at the window or the door unexpectedly at night as if he is trying to warn me but when I go to look, I end up seeing nothing. I also have a cat but if she’s seen anything she’s not telling or is indifferent to the whole thing. I have only had one encounter with one at home where I have seen it, and that was the reason that prompted me to write to you.

It happened about a week ago. I had days off and was at home at about 1030 at night when my dog started growling and then ran toward the back door. As I got up and followed him, I saw that the backyard lights had been triggered and that standing on the back deck in front of the back door was what looked like the same alien I had seen the first time. My dog was going berserk and would charge the door but stop short of hitting it and then back up again. It looked right at me before it took a step back and straight out disappeared right in front of me. I didn’t freak like the first time but felt a little unnerved that it had come so close to my house and had allowed itself to be seen.As before, I felt like I was in no danger but did feel like it was trying to communicate with me in some way. My dog stayed in front of the door growling for another 10 minutes before it came back to my room with me. I stayed up for a while trying to make sense of what had just happened. That’s when I got online and started looking up information about what had just occurred that led to this website and the reports of the sightings at O’Hare.

INVESTIGATORS NOTES:

The witness has been contacted and we are anticipating talking to him within the next few days. We have requested a face to face interview with a UFOCH investigator and any and all new information will be posted on the website within 24-48 hours.

'Black Goblin' Suddenly Appears in Living Room

The following account was given to me in 2016 by another investigator. At the time, the investigator believed that it was a spirit. I don't think that there has ever been a satisfactory conclusion:

"I've been struggling with what I saw and whether or not to share it. Part of me wants to know if I'm not alone in my experience and the other part wants to believe it was just in my imagination and I shouldn't attempt to learn more. On the grand scale of experiences this probably won't be that interesting to some people, but I'm afraid because of it and that is what has led me to share.
Two nights ago I was in my apartment with my 1-year-old son. His dad was working the night shift at 1 am so I don't know the exact time this happened but I'd say between 2-4 in the morning. We have a king-sized bed and our son fell asleep with me so I let him stay there.
At some point I woke up to the baby rolling around the bed and kicking me. At the time I didn't know what his problem was but he was keeping me awake. This lasted for a while because usually when my son sleeps next to me he doesn't move so much and I figured he'd eventually be still. He didn't though. He kept moving around half asleep and I was worried that he'd roll off the bed. It felt like this went on for at least 30 minutes if not longer and I got frustrated that I was awake so I decided to move him to his playpen in the living room.
I laid him down and then went to the bathroom. From the bathroom I could see the living room (I left the door open). I should also mention that even at night it's not completely dark in our apartment so you can still see fairly well. As I was on the toilet I looked over to where the playpen is just for a few seconds and I saw some kind of creature. It was all black and hunched over like it was hiding behind the playpen but not very well. The playpen is made with see-through netting anyway so you can see right through it. This thing had long arms and my memory says it was slightly muscular on its upper body. What struck me as "off" about the whole thing was that it had long pointy ears like an elf but bigger. WTF?
I finished and rushed to the living room and nothing is out there, so I walk into the the bedroom with the image of this thing lingering in the front of my head. I tried to discount it or come up with an explanation, but I don't have one. I know it's natural for people to see faces or human shapes but this thing was not human looking, and I've never seen anything like it. There's no reason my brain would of just made this thing up while I'm trying to go to the bathroom and I'm worried about my son. I ended up grabbing the baby and he slept with me anyway, I wasn't going to take any chances.
The next morning he was sick with a cold so I'm guessing that's why he was so uncomfortable, but it's been a couple days now and I can't shake off what happened. If I had to give this thing a name Id say it resembled a large goblin. It also had a larger than human-sized head.
I guess I'm looking for input or some kind of advice. Do I pretend nothing happened? How do I protect my family if this was something paranormal and it comes back? I've had a few unexplained experiences in my life time but never anything like this in my own home. This whole thing has me very worried." AM

Bat-Winged Humanoid Encountered in Carol Stream, Illinois

A Carol Stream, Illinois resident observes a winged humanoid on 2 occasions. Once while it lifted into the air and the other when it flew in front of their vehicle.

I received the following information recently:

Has anyone from Carol Stream, Illinois (DuPage County - Chicago northwest suburbs) sent any sighting of the winged humanoid? Twice now I’ve seen 'something' about 4 foot tall, brownish, two legs and bat-like wings. Both times late night, around 3 am or so. By ponds off of Morton Rd. On one occasion flying right above the headlights. I know there was another car that stopped to 'look' also. Thanks. ECM

I responded to the witness and received an update:

Both times I saw it during last summer on Morton Rd. The first time I only caught a quick glance as it took off flying from the side of a small pond. I figured it was a crane that got spooked by coyotes or something. But they are not nocturnal. 

The second time was at the corner on Morton Rd. as I was waiting at a stop sign for a car (not far from the pond). It began moving through the intersection. I began turning left and it flew right in front of us (the other car stopped also to check it out). It then turned sharply. That's when I saw its bat-like wings as it flew through nearby backyards. It definitely wasn’t a large owl. ECM

The Old Stull, Kansas Cemetery: Portal to Hell

Just west of Lawrence, Kansas is the hamlet of Stull. The Old Stull Cemetery is said to be a Devil's playground and one of the portals to Hell. Though 'Big Red' as never actually been seen, he has supposedly been the cause of several weird incidents, including buildings mysteriously catching on fire; horrific noises recorded; werewolf jumping out of the bushes and a few other unexplained happenings.

"It's just a big old hoax that somebody started and we want it stopped," said the otherwise friendly cemetery-goer, who has had the graves of her relatives vandalized repeatedly. "Go bowling or something ... leave our cemetery alone." The bitter sentiments stem from stolen gravestones, vandalism and obnoxious thrill-seekers who find the need to party in the cemetery while waiting for Satan to appear...now requiring constant patrolling from the county sheriff.

"That first year (on Halloween night of 1988), I tell you, it was terrible. 500 people standing on graves, hoping that devil would come up," stated a local woman "One man wrote and said a relative of mine was a werewolf, and that really made me mad."

On March 29 (Good Friday) 2002, the old brick church came tumbling down. With the much-mythologized church gone, attention turned to preventing vandalism of the adjunct graveyard. A fence was erected along the street and pasted with 'no trespassing' signs. Nonetheless, the stories still continue...prompting the occasional trespassers to venture into the cemetery at night.

Here are a few of the incident attributed to the Old Stull Cemetery:

* The cemetery was supposedly the middle point of some kind of Satanic triangle and was responsible for converting some fundamental Christian kid from Baldwin into a Satan worshipper.

* The devil returns to Old Stull Cemetery, only on the Spring Equinox and on Halloween...because one of his wives is buried there. A permutation holds that the devil returns to visit the gravesite of his infant son, who was born of the Devil and a witch. The child was so deformed that he only lived for a few days and the body was buried in Stull. Some say that his ghost may walk here, as there supposedly was a photo taken a few years ago that shows a “werewolf-like boy” peering out from behind a tree.

* The devil has been appearing here since the 1850’s and insist that the original name of the town was “Skull” and that the later corruption of that into “Stull” was simply to cover the fact that the area was steeped in black magic.

* In a 1995 trip to Colorado, Pope John Paul II redirects the flight path of his private plane to avoid flying over the unholy ground of Stull.

* Reports of abundant paranormal phenomena from residents in the town: raps and banging; voices-often reported to be the voice of an old woman; weird clocks and indoor windstorms; ghostly children playing at night in the cemetery; time shifts and discrepancies, inexplicable loss of memory and disorientation.

* Before the church was demolished, it was said that bottles thrown at the walls would not break. A permutation held that if the bottle didn't break you were going to hell; if it broke, heaven (some said vice versa).

In November 1974, an article appeared in the University of Kansas student newspaper that described a number of strange occurrences in the Stull churchyard. According to the article, Stull was "haunted by legends of diabolical, supernatural happenings" and the legends asserted that the cemetery was one of the two places on earth where the devil appears in person two times each year. It said that the cemetery had been the source of many legends in the area, stories that had been told and re-told for over a century. The article also went on to say that most students learned of Stull's diabolical reputation from their grand-parents and older individuals, but that many of them claimed first-hand encounters with things that could not explain. One student claimed to have been grabbed by the arm by something unseen, while others spoke of unexplained memory loss when visiting the place. Like many other locations of this type, the tales of devil worship and witchcraft also figured strongly into the article.

There was one story told of two young men who were visiting Stull Cemetery one night and became frightened when a strong wind began blowing out of nowhere. They ran back to their car, only to find that the vehicle had been moved to the other side of the highway and was now facing in the opposite direction. Another man claimed to experience this same anomalous wind, but inside of the church rather than in the graveyard. He claimed that the sinister air current knocked him to the floor and would not allow him to move for some time. Incidentally, it is inside of this same church where “witnesses” say that no rain would fall...even though the crumbling building had no roof.

In 1980, an article appeared in the Kansas City Times that added further fuel to the rumors about Old Stull Cemetery and the abandoned church. The article was quoted as saying that the Devil chose two places to appear on Earth every Halloween. One of them was the "tumbleweed hamlet" of Stull, Kansas and the other, which occurs simultaneously at midnight, is someplace on the "desolate plain of India." From these sites, according to the article, the Devil gathers all the people who died violent deaths over the past year for a prance around the Earth at the witching hour. The article adds that he appears in Stull because of an event that took place in the 1850’s, when "a stable hand allegedly stabbed the mayor to death in the cemetery’s old stone barn. Years later, the barn was converted into a church, which in turn was gutted by fire. A decaying wooden crucifix that still hands from one wall is thought to sometimes turn upside-down when passersby step into the building at midnight..."

In 1999 a paranormal researcher received an email signed 'Ryan' referencing the the portal to Hell:

"There are 'stairs' that lead somewhere down. They are behind the church on the right side of the church if you are facing the church. They aren't easy to find, however, because they are well covered by the grass that has grown on top of the lid that covers them. It is not easy to find them, it took a friend and I about 3 hours of snooping around. We came upon this about 6 years ago. If you really want to see or hear awful and weird stuff, if you can, try to campout behind the church for a night. Do this behind the church to avoid the patrol that do drive by there at night every hour or two. Take a flashlight and plenty of batteries, because you will have a ton of trouble keeping the flashlight working and it will go out a lot, trust me, I know."

Here is an anonymous post on a ghost hunting forum:

On Halloween night of 1999, reporters from local newspapers & TV stations went to the cemetery to join the curious onlookers, to see the devil make his appearance at midnight, as the legend claims. Sheriff deputies were on hand, but didn't ask anyone to leave until 11:30 pm, when a representative of the owners (the cemetery is on private property) arrived & insisted that everyone leave. The deputies had no choice but to honor the representative's wishes and everyone, including the reporters, had to leave.

If these legends are untrue as the locals claim, why didn't they let these people stay and see for themselves? It may have dispelled the myths. On Friday, March 29, 2002 the old stone church was mysteriously torn down. A man named Major Weiss, who owns the property with two other people, said he did not authorize the demolition.

Today it is advised that if you go to Stull, Kansas, to enter the cemetery at your own risk. The old church may be gone, but the legend lives on.

The following narrative was posted on a Yahoo forum in 2007:

I can't believe I'm seeing this, lol. I remember Stull very well, and thought everyone had forgotten about it. I lived near Topeka for a long time (not too far of a drive to Stull, near Lawrence), and I remember a group of us went to Stull one year around Halloween. Somebody had already cut the bolt on the church door (owners got sick of people messing around there) so we decided to investigate some of the urban legends surrounding the place. Turned out some of the legends had truth behind them. 

First, we were told if you threw a glass bottle against one of the church walls, the bottle would not break. So, we tried it. We got a regular Budweiser bottle and we took turns throwing it against the outside of the church (sounds bad, I know). We tried threw with varying speeds and force, but the bottle would not break. Mind you, we were all football players and one of us was a city-league baseball pitcher, so that damn bottle should have broken, lol. After a few minutes, we gave up and entered the church area. It was definitely creepy and dilapidated, just the kind of place you would imagine as crazy-mad haunted. But we weren't there for ghosts, lol.

The second 'myth' is that one could never reach the bottom of the staircase that leads to the basement. Well, this was also true. We had the intentions of busting this legend, but we couldn't. We took two stop-watches with us, and we all had flashlights and extra batteries, just in case. We started the first watch at the top of the stairs and started down. After 45 minutes we decided that it was becoming ridiculous, so we stopped. It shouldn't have taken more than a minute to reach the stupid basement-that-we-never-saw. We turned around and started the second stop-watch and headed back up the stairs. It only took us four minutes to get to the top again! And we had the watches to prove it. We were not running or hurrying in any way, going in either direction. Now, for the creepiest part of the whole deal. When we got outside of the church again, there was a group of eight guys talking and stretching. They freaked the hell out and almost ran when they saw us walk out. They asked how we got in and we told them that we had just tried getting to the basement, without success. They called us liars and said that they had just come off the stairs barely five minutes ago, then they showed us their stopwatches. They had been going down the stairs for almost two hours, and had turned back only because they were worried about trying to climb so many stairs back to the top. And, as you may have guessed, it only took them four minutes to get back to the top! We showed them our stop-watches and we all decided to freak out together, lol. 

We ended up getting busted by a couple of county deputies for trespass. They let us go when we explained what we had been doing, and showed them our watches.They obviously knew of the legends, but they had been asked by the property owners to keep an eye out for vandals and trespassing. The guys in the other group ended up getting a ticket and fined because they were the ones who had cut the lock in the first place, lol. Anyway, thats my own experience with Stull. Is it a gateway to hell? I don't know, but with the vibe of the place and all the weird stuff that went on there, it wouldn't surprise me one bit.

Yeah...I wouldn't be surprise either.

UPDATE: Cryptid Canine Sightings Recalled in Rural Northeastern Pennsylvania

A boy  in rural northeastern Pennsylvania,  had several sightings of an unknown canine that he refers to as 'my werewolf.' It's an interesting series of encounters, so I asked Phantoms & Monsters Fortean Research investigator Butch Witkowski to follow up with the witness. After Butch contacted the witness, the following email was forwarded:

Hi, Butch,

Thank you for your discretion, firstly.

My encounter took place in Wayne County, outside of Honesdale, PA.

It was very dark in color, definitely dark grey or black as opposed to brown. In general, when standing, it was human looking, with the exception of its feet which were more canine. Its ears came up when we looked at each other but then laid against its head like in the picture with 5 in the corner.

It would be hard to be 100% sure in the dark and at the distance, but my impression was the creature I saw was fully furred.

I'd be curious about any information you have on Northeast PA that's shareable. Does it seem like the Lycan Loop runs up there? Is Wayne County popular for these sorts of encounters?

Here is the original I email I received from the witness:

I grew up an only child in rural northeastern Pennsylvania. I used to sneak out of my bedroom and go hang out in our backyard on summer nights when I had trouble sleeping or woke up in the middle of the night. This was around the age of 8 in the mid 90s.

I’d go sit just below the top of the backyard hill, where I was out of sight of our kitchen window. There were trees to the left with a wild open field across the rest of a mile wide valley. We had a large hill, with a bump in the middle, that was perfect for sledding in the winter. Below that was a field with a deer trail cutting through the bottom of the hill, and a creek beyond at the center of the valley. On a clear night with a bright moon, you could see across the valley, to where my best friend’s house had their flood lights on all night behind their house. It was about a mile distance.

And when I say rural, I mean VERY rural Pennsylvania. Parent teacher conferences were scheduled the first day of hunting season, and kids would often be out for a couple of days just for that. We had two houses in eyeline of our house from that backyard. It was more than 30 miles to our nearest Walmart.

I also grew up very familiar with deer, bear, rabbits, and even saw a mountain lion once while hiking with family. All of this to say, I am familiar with wildlife there.

The first night I saw the dogman was like any other. I was chilling in the grass, thrilled to just be doing something my parents didn’t know about.

I saw something moving quickly down along the deer trail. It was dark black against the rest of the night. Part way through its path from the woods beside my house, it noticed me and stopped. We just stared at each other for what felt like a long time. It stood up, and its ears were long enough to notice from a 100 yard or so distance. It was too thin to be a black bear, which I’d already seen a few times at that age. The staring continued for a long time. Eventually, it put its ears back down, put its front paws on the ground, and sprinted across the valley.

I called it 'my werewolf,' because of the shape of it standing up. But after that first sighting, I went and sat outside a lot more. I remember once on a new moon I sat on the porch because I was too scared to go too far with how dark it was without the moon.

I saw it 3-4 more times after that. It was usually running into the woods by my house, which were more than 10 full acres owned just for hunting season. My werewolf never bothered me after that, but I remember I was really disappointed when it got cold outside and I’d have to stop going out at night because I wouldn’t see it." TK

Bizarre Rapidly Hopping Cryptid Observed by Witnesses in Coles County, Illinois

Witnesses come forward to describe a rapidly hopping tall, skinny black hooded being or creature observed in Coles County, Illinois. One witness states that there may have been folded wings on the back.

On Saturday, I received the following account:

"Last night, I heard the most amazing strange story that happened in Coles County, Illinois. It was a creature / being I've never heard anything of before. Have you ever heard of some sort of being / creature that is like 8 to 9 foot tall, very skinny, wearing a black hooded cloak and instead of walking, it hops very high and very fast to move?

I talked to a woman who saw one cross a road in 2012 down by Mattoon / Charleston, IL.

Another friend said she and her husband saw the same thing in 1989 about 8 to 10 miles from the area she called Airtight Bridge. She said the damn thing jumped about 3 feet in the air each time, was upright, and it jumped so fast that it was humanly impossible. It moved forward slowly though because it had to jump so many times to cross the road she said it must have jumped a few hundred times so fast it was almost just a blur. She saw no knees bent while jumping. It eventually made its way across and disappeared into trees. She said it had very high shoulders, almost as if there were wings underneath the cloak. It was very early morning around 5 am and still relatively dark, and she was headed to work. It never turned to look at her, so she didn't see a face, but there was a hood over it's head anyway. It was illuminated by her headlights. Very strange indeed." CJ

NOTE: I'm not sure what to make of these sightings, but I believe that one could draw a possible connection to the winged humanoid phenomenon being reported throughout Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana. As you may know, there have been a number of other humanoid sightings in some of the forest preserve areas throughout northern and eastern Illinois.

CJ also stated "I talked to the witness, and several others who confirm that the story is exactly as she told them in 2012. It was seen on North County Rd. 1200 E. about a mile south of Illinois Rt. 16. She is still terrified and baffled by this incident."

Coles County is located in east central Illinois, between Springfield and the Indiana border.

The Airtight Bridge is a steel bridge spanning the Embarras River approximately 8 miles north of Charleston, Illinois. The bridge was built in 1914 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1981. It reportedly got its name from the unnatural stillness encountered when crossing it.

In 1980, a dismembered corpse was found on the east bank of the river 30 yards downstream from the bridge, causing quite a stir in the local media. Police investigated for years, but were unable to determine the identity of the victim until 1992, when DNA testing produced a match to a missing person from Kankakee, Illinois. Once a cold case investigated by the Illinois State Police, the victim's husband was charged with the murder on March 2, 2017.
