BIGFOOT Throws Huge Boulder Into Shanty Hollow Lake, Kentucky

2 Western Kentucky University roommates decide to drive to Shanty Hollow Lake at night in order to observe a meteor shower. While there, they encounter much more than lights in the sky.

I received the following account:

"This happened back in the Spring of 2018 when I was attending Western Kentucky University. My roommate and I are both old country boys who were living in the city. We are both big outdoorsmen and would rather be in the woods than anywhere else. I grew up in Boy Scouts so I spent at least 1 weekend a month from age 13-18 camping in the woods somewhere. It’s just where I feel most at home. So living in the city drove me crazy until I found this beautiful park about 45 minutes outside of Bowling Green called Shanty Hollow Lake. It is a large 135-acre lake with many acres of land surrounding it.

This area is a major destination for college kids to hike to a beautiful waterfall, but that’s the only trail in this massive park. My buddy and I liked to get off the trail and see what we could find. We’d make new trails, climb cliffs, and just explore the area. One thing we noticed a lot was saplings usually about 6-8 inches in diameter snapped at the base and then twisted around another tree; sometimes once sometimes 3 times. I always found this odd and in recent history, I’ve read these could be used as boundary markers. These were usually found off the beaten path nowhere close to where people hiked.

The night of the encounter my buddy and I went out around 2:00 in the morning to go view a meteor shower. We walked down the trail a ways to get away from the light reflecting off the lake to try and get a better view but it was a full moon so not great for view showers. As we are sitting there just taking in the silence we hear slaps on the water and a flock of geese go absolutely nuts and take off flying. It scared the crap out of us because we weren’t talking just kind of sitting there meditating. We think it is a beaver or something and just laugh it off. But then we hear a KERPHLUSH! Something MASSIVE was thrown into the lake. And I mean MASSIVE because it took about 5 seconds for the water to rain back onto the lake. That is what freaked us out the most.

Even though it was very dark, we could see a vast and tall upright form move out of the brush to our right, maybe 150 feet away. There was a grunting sound as well, though it soon faded away. The hair was standing up on the back of my neck and we both simultaneously said let’s get the hell out of here and we booked it out as fast as we could.

I’ll add that there was no one else there at all that night and to my knowledge nothing in the woods could throw a boulder that size. So I ask this question, "Was it a Bigfoot?" I would have to say that it was!" B

OLD PALE BLACK-EYED MAN Encountered In My Columbus, Ohio Neighborhood

A factory worker was driving home early in the dark morning when he approached an old man walking down the street. As he gets nearer, he realizes that this situation is much more anomalous than imagined.

I received the following account:

"I work in a factory during the graveyard shift from 10 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. in Columbus, Ohio. That night I was actually working my 6th day in a row for overtime. I have had this job for a while now and I am used to this kind of schedule. I am bringing this up because typically after I get home I am still wide awake and tend to sleep later in the day. I was totally alert when this happened.

I ended up leaving work early since I completed a lot more orders than usual and I was on my way home around 4:30 am. I turned down the side street that leads to my apartment complex and I immediately noticed it is quite dark as the streetlights are not illuminated. The suburb I live around uses streetlights that have sensors so they light up when people walk by them and turn off by themselves to save energy. As I noticed it was dark I decided to turn on my brights in my car. I am only 6 blocks away from home at this point and I come around a small bend in the road that leads up to a children's park and the only stop sign on this street between my apartment which is a few blocks further.

I notice something in the middle of the road. My first thought was it was some stacked garbage that maybe blew off of the curb into the street, but as I drove closer I slowed down as I realized it was a person walking down the street with their back to me. It seemed like an old person, a very old person actually by the way they were walking. I slowed down a lot because it was very odd, I didn't know if they were going to jump in front of my car or what since there are well-maintained sidewalks less than 10 feet for them to use. The next thing I notice is the clothing. The person was walking slowly, almost waddling, and was wearing a hooded jacket with the hood up and their hands inside the front pouch, sweat pants, and soaking wet slippers (due to the light rain) without socks. This person was about 3 car lengths away from the stop sign and I was close now getting ready to stop and ask if they needed help or something.

As soon as I was just about right behind him (adjacent) this person who I then saw was an old man with wrinkly and very pale skin, whipped around insanely fast and stared at me. My brights were still on and I could see how pale his skin was and then I saw the pitch back eyes. No whites in his eyes just black. I was immediately filled with terror and almost froze up, but I floored it and sped the last few blocks to my apartment, parked, and sprinted inside locking all my doors, and windows.

The next day I realized that none of the street lights were illuminated on my whole street when this happened even though it was within distance to trigger the sensors. I couldn't sleep at all that night. This happened in April 2017." AF

Stranger Than Fiction: COLOSSAL BIRD Attacks Sailors Off Chile

In 1888 the SS Talisman was off the coast of Chile when it was suddenly attacked by a monstrous bird. The creature was said to be 'more terrible than the famous sea serpent in those waters!'

By Jon Wyatt - In 1963 Alfred Hitchcock's masterpiece 'The Birds' premiered on the silver screen and it has a cult following to this day. The story about flocks of birds taking revenge on humanity is fictional but terrifying attacks on people do happen and for high suspense, it's hard to ignore this tale.

In 1888 the SS Talisman an iron-hulled screw-driven cargo fish carrier of 153 tons left Liverpool, England, for South America; she was under the command of a Captain Putt. The ship was new, being launched in Glasgow in 1882, and she was 112 ft (34.14 m.) long, 19.1 ft (5.8 m.) wide, and powered by a 50 HP steam engine and auxiliary sail (she would be later sunk by a German U boat in 1917). During the passage, she received severe storm damage and stopped at the Falklands for lengthy repairs.

After repairs the Talisman passed around The Horn and headed north along the icy SW Chile coast where she ran into changing gales and one day, when the hull lunged, the mate's son, a lad of 15, was thrown from a mast cross-tree into the brine. He was unable to swim freely in his sou'wester coat and when a sailor, Banning, jumped in to help—hell fell! Here is Captain Putt's report:

“The attention of every man on board was given to the two men in the water, but when one sailor raised his eyes and saw an enormous bird make for the boy he emitted a cry of terror, which was joined in by every one as they saw it... it was an enormous creature that no two men would care to battle with under any circumstances.

“When Banning raised his eyes and saw the bird his first thought was to turn around and make for the ship. Fear took possession of him and his strokes grew less powerful.

“Seeing Banning's danger James Gray jumped in after him.

“Just as he reached the water the great creature reached the boy, who was growing very faint.

“At first the bird seemed undetermined what to do. It pecked at the boy about the body, heeding not the shouts of the sailors, who sought to frighten it away.

“It was some time before the boat could be lowered and by the time it was down into the water and manned the boy had gone down once.

“His sudden disappearance surprised the bird, which was about to turn its attention to Banning, when the boy came to the surface again. I ran to the cabin and returned with a rifle to shoot the bird should it grow ugly.

“When I got on deck the first thing I saw was the strange creature rising into the air with the boy, and its mate, which suddenly appeared, almost as large, was attacking Banning.

“He was on his back, dodging the beak of his adversary and swimming toward the vessel with all his might. I never was more excited in my life. I hardly knew what to do. The boy was being carried away and was up thirty or forty feet in the air.

“'Shoot the bird!' yelled the mate, running about the deck like a crazy man and shouting at the top of his voice orders that were not obeyed.

“In shooting I, of course, ran the risk of killing the boy instead of the bird, if, indeed, he was not killed by the fall; but there was not much time to think of this; the bird was still rising and after a hasty aim, I fired.

“It was an excellent shot.

“A wing fell helpless, as if I had broken it, and the bird tumbled down into the water. The second bird, when it saw the boat approach, left Banning and made a fierce attack on one of the boatmen, striking him with its foot a blow that felled him to the bottom of the boat. Another of the crew raised an oar and hit the bird with all his might, when it flew way.

“Banning, Gray and the boy were picked up. The latter was unconscious, but after a good rubbing he was brought to. Banning was bleeding about the face and more or less injured about the body.

“The wounded bird fought viciously when an attempt was made to capture it. It was finally lassoed and taken on board. Three weeks after it died, and is now at Valparaiso [the port near Santiago, Chile] being stuffed.

“The boy said that before he went down he felt himself losing consciousness and grabbed at the enormous bird that was hovering over him. He caught its feet and held on with the grip of a drowning man. He partially regained his senses in the air, but thought he was higher up than he really was and did not dare to let go.

“I have seen many big condors and other large birds,” continued the captain, “but never any winged thing as large as this. The stretch of its wings was over fourteen feet [ 4.27 m ]. The head and neck were destitute of feathers, and the former, which was much flattened, was skinned and bleeding. It had the big, strong beak of an albatross, and the plumage though somewhat darker, was not unlike that of the latter bird. Its feet were only partially webbed. During the time we had it on board and until it died it was not seen to eat, but slept constantly, and it took some rough handling to awaken it.” (Source: Sydney Mail 17 November 1888, p1045, reprinted from the San Francisco Examiner).

Unless there was a huge unknown species out there, the predators were Chilean condors.

Andean condors (Vultur gryphus) - the national symbol of various Latin American countries – are native to western South America and what magnificently big birds they are too. They live for 70 years and their wingspans can reach 14 feet or more. They nest high in the Andes and are primarily opportunistic scavengers and they also attack young livestock and pets—and allegedly from time to time children. In Chile, their cousins nest along the coast on high cliffs and in caves. The “sea vultures” feed mainly on dead marine creatures.

WERE THEY ABDUCTED? Family Experiences Lost Time, Headaches, & Needle Marks

A family is traveling on Maryland's Eastern Shore towards Delaware when they suddenly experience lost time after entering a dark stretch of road. There were physical changes as well.

I received the following unsettling account:

"Hello. I've been reading your blog and thought you might be interested in our experience. This happened in June 2016. The light of the day was starting to fade. We were driving to my mother's house and the small bridge on RT 313 was closed, so we turned left and went through the town of Federalsburg, Maryland. We then turned right trying to find a detour. I had just mentioned how we were making good time because I looked at the clock it was 8:30 PM.

We came upon a very dark wooded area on the road. My mom said, 'Wow, that is really dark.' That is the last thing either of us remember. Then the next thing we knew we looked at the clock, it was 9:25 PM. It literally felt like seconds, before it was 8:30! My 21-month-old daughter had been fussy right before the woods, but she was now very quiet. The dogs had been panting but were now still and quiet. Everything was eerily quiet! We felt very disoriented and realized we were miles from where we originally were and in the totally wrong direction.

Based on my memory, my good sense of direction, and my mother's knowledge of the area it made no sense to be where we were. I then noticed a burning bump in the back of my head behind my right ear. My mother felt very numb and extremely disoriented. We both felt as though we had a sunburn, a hot, tight feeling on our faces. She then noticed a bump in her head in the SAME spot. They looked like fresh needle marks. We drove to my mother's house in Seaford, Delaware in shock and disbelief at what just happened.

After arriving home we experienced headaches, neck aches, and feeling shaky. However, the swelling behind the ear had down on both of us. I was unable to find a mark on my daughter. We are upstanding citizens and this is NOT a hoax! Something very strange happened to us that night, something we will never forget. We are thankful we had each other to share our experience with because it defies logic.

Is it possible that were experienced an alien abduction or a time slip? I can't believe that I say that because I have never believed in those possibilities before that evening." F

Was it a TIME SLIP, Possible BI-LOCATION? Unexplained Experience in Saskatchewan

A Saskatoon, Saskatchewan man had a bizarre and unexplained experience after his friend called him demanding to know why he had left her alone at home, which was 400 miles away!

I received the following account:

“I've got a story for you and I don't know what it is. Time travel, time slip, I don't know. My friend lives 400 miles away from me. She's a girl but it's nothing romantic. I was at home in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and I had a couple of glasses of wine. I fell asleep on my couch watching a football game.

So I woke up at 2:30 a.m. because the dog jumped on me and wanted to go outside and do her business. So I did that and then I went to bed.

I got a phone call about 7 o'clock in the morning from my friend Rhonda and she said to me, 'Why did you leave without telling me you were going?' And I said, 'What are you talking about?' And she says, 'You were here last night, remember?' And I said, 'What?' She said, 'I was sitting in my kitchen crying because she and her boyfriend,' she told me, 'had broken up. And you had spent the night comforting me.' I said, 'Rhonda, I'm at home. I'm 400 miles away.' She said, 'No, no, no, you're pulling my leg.' She said, 'Now I'm mad at you, you're telling me you don't believe me and you were here.'

Anyway, she decided to move back to my home city not long after that night, and, get this, I walked into her house to help her pack. And when I stepped into her house, (I'd never been there before), it was like, 'OMG, I've been here before!' Every hair on my body stood at attention!. It was like somebody dumped cold water on me. And get this, she even said to me, 'Don't you remember that at about 2:30 a.m., you had to take Jesse (my dog) to do her business?'

So, I don't know what that was all about. Was it a ghost story or time travel? And Rhonda and I have talked about it ever since. It's like we are scared to talk about it because it both sends shivers up our spine.” E

Massive BIGFOOT Suddenly Appears in Appalachian Trail Campsite!

A North Carolina hiker recalls his nighttime encounter with a massive Bigfoot while camping along the Appalachian Trail near McAfee Knob in southwest Virginia. It was quite a terrifying experience.

I received the following account:

"Hello, sir. I just watched and listened to your Appalachian Trail encounters video on YouTube. I decided to tell you about my scary experience.

This occurred in the Spring of 2018 while I was hiking the Appalachian Trail near the McAfee Knob in Virginia. I'd been hiking for a week at this point (I live in western North Carolina) and was planning on about another two weeks on the AT. I've been on a ton of hikes but this one was quite terrifying.

It was mid-May and the scenery was breathtaking. I'd been hiking for about five hours that day when I decided to set up camp near a small brook. I was settling down for the night when I heard this rustling in the bushes nearby. Now, it wasn't the sort of rustling you would dismiss as a rabbit or a squirrel. This was louder and heavier. It sent a shiver down my spine. I remember thinking that maybe somebody else was out there or maybe a deer.

I tried not to think about it but the noise continued and in the exact same spot just off the campsite. It wasn't getting fainter or moving along so I grabbed my flashlight and I headed towards the noise. As I was getting closer the rustling stopped but I could feel something. It's hard to explain but it was like I could feel eyes on me. This feeling of being watched was overwhelming like I was on display. I showed my flashlight around but there was nothing to see, just trees and bushes in the blackness beyond my light.

It was then that I heard it. I might even go so far as to say I felt it. There was a low growl, deep and guttural. I could feel it vibrate through the ground. I felt a sense of dread like I was definitely in danger. My heart was racing and I was finding it hard to even breathe. My mind was yelling, 'Get out of there!' But my body wouldn't listen. Then something happened.

This figure slowly emerged from the shadows. It wasn't just any figure. It was enormous, and standing on two legs, silhouetted against the sparse moonlight. I felt my heart leap to my throat. I mean, we've all heard the stories right about Sasquatch or Bigfoot or whatever you want to call it. To actually see one, well that is different. You have to remember that the light wasn't the best. There was no real moon that night, but when my flashlight hit the thing, OMG, I could see that it was gigantic. I mean it was really tall. I'd say easily eight or even nine feet. It towered above me, giving off this sense of pure raw power that can completely overwhelm me. It was broad and its shoulders seemed as wide as a small car. No exaggeration! Its arms hung down almost to its knees, rippling with muscle under the hair that was matted and black sort of blending with the shadows. Around its face, well, that's something I will never forget. It was more human-like than ape-like, but still not quite human. Its eyes were large and expressive, shining in the light with an intelligence that startled me. The nose was flat, more like ours than a bear or a wolf. The mouth, when it gaped open, I could see its teeth and even its breath as it exited its mouth in a slow stream of steam. The teeth were large and they looked very sharp. It was a terrifying sight, the kind of thing you would expect to see in a nightmare, not on a peaceful hike in the Appalachian woods.

The sound it made was a deep rumbling growl that seemed to shake the very ground beneath me. There was like a primal rawness, a sort of power that you can't really put into words. Then suddenly it let out a roar that echoed through the forest, making the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Then, just as suddenly, it disappeared from the light of my flashlight. I swung the light slowly back and tried to pinpoint the thing's current location but I couldn't see anything at all, just that I was alone again, standing there in the pitch black with my heart pounding. That's when I realized that sweat was pouring down from my face and my chest. I hadn't even been aware of what was happening to my body until just then. As you can imagine I didn't sleep a wink that night. Every noise, every shadow had me on edge. I couldn't wait for the day to break.

So just as soon as the sun started peeking over the mountains I packed up my stuff and I headed onward. There was no real place to go but to continue on the AT. I did cut the hike short. I didn't make those full final two weeks. I just couldn't get over what had happened. I will tell you that since the encounter I have been back to the Appalachian Trail but never to that same spot. I can't say I'd ever want to see that section of the trail ever again." HP

BRIGHT LIGHT, MIB, & LOST TIME Experienced on I-75 Near Ocala, Florida

A central Florida man watches a bright light while driving to work. Then, a strange man dressed in black, driving a black vintage car appears. Later, he experienced 5 hours of lost time.

I received the following creepy account:

“One night while driving to work on Interstate 75 near Ocala, Florida (about 2 years ago) I watched a bright light come down from the sky, almost like a helicopter, and shined a light right into the cab of my truck. I was very scared. At the same time, a car came speeding past me erratically. It was late so I couldn't see the car. Instantly, I called a friend to tell her what happened as I was really scared. She told me to pull over and so I did, into a gas station.

It was about 10 pm. I parked and tried to regain myself. Then I saw this man pull up right in front of me. He looked like he stepped right out of the 1950s, black everything. Black car wheels, windows, etc. Everything he had on was black. He also wore black sunglasses. I saw him and felt really odd. His presence took my breath away as he looked right at me. I felt very intimidated, and it was almost like no one else saw him. He went into the store and I never got out of my truck. I was too scared.

On his way back to his vintage all-black car he never stopped glaring at me. I could feel it through his glasses. He got in his car and I waited for him to leave, as I didn't want to chance him following me. He disappeared behind the gas station and never came out from the other side. I waited about 30 minutes, nothing. So I left. When I finally got to work, I sat in my truck terrified. It wasn't over. What I'm going to say next is very odd but I am telling you all what I saw.

It was about 11.30 pm by then, and I noticed clouds about 200 feet away floating over and landing on the tops of trees parked right in front of me. A literal stones throw in front of me. I sat and watched, confused, to say the least. I didn't notice anyone coming or going while I watched. By the time I got out of my truck over 5 hours had passed, I had missed work but was in the parking lot. I'll never know, but my face and shirt were soaking wet as if I was in tears the entire time. I felt a lot of things that night but sadness was not one. I haven't really told anyone this in fear it at happen again, or I would be ridiculed.” P

Possible BIGFOOT Activity Reported on Clearfield, Pennsylvania Railroad Bridge

A witness recalls his experience on an old railroad bridge, located in Clearfield, Pennsylvania. While on the bridge, he and a friend observe a huge rock thrown from the hillside and into the river.

"I'm from Clearfield, Pennsylvania. My friend and I used to go to a local train bridge down from the VFW and hang out at night. It was a peaceful place to go for a short walk. We went down one night and kept having strange vibes about it. We reached the bridge and paused for a moment and then walked halfway out on the bridge. We were there for about 10 minutes, talking and laughing, and then a huge rock flew off the hillside and hit the water so hard that it hit the bottom of the river. I heard it hit the other rocks on the bottom. It did not roll off the hill, it was thrown. There was no other noise until it hit the water.

Anyway, we both paused and shined our lights to the other side and didn't see anything. So we just got up and left because I wasn't hanging around. We got off the other side heading back to the truck. We then heard a wood-on-wood knock and I'm a pretty big and fearless guy, but my butt got the hell out of there as fast as I could.

I still hunt whitetail deer down there despite what happened."

NOTE: I know that this is a very brief account, but what caught my attention is that I have heard & read several incidents occurring at that same location. The railroad bridge is located on the west branch of the Susquehanna River and can be seen from I-80. Below is a photo and an overhead view.

Clearfield County is well-known for Bigfoot activity, especially in the Rockton area. The bridge, at least from what I've been told, is supposedly haunted. If anyone has any further information about the location, please feel free to forward it to me. Lon

Creepy Aussie Tales: ABDUCTED THOROUGHBRED FOAL & HAUNTED NIGHTCLUBS

An Australian resident talks about his father's abducted foal story & haunting tales in various nightclubs & other locations where he used to work.

The following account was forwarded to me by my friends Cam & Kyle at Expanded Perspectives:

"Here's a brief story of an alien interaction with a horse, told to me by my dad when I was a kid. My dad was a former jockey, still into horses, horse breeding, and thoroughbreds. This happened before I was born. Dad was working on a thoroughbred stud farm. They had a champion pregnant mare, so the foal was valuable.

The horse was in a paddock by herself away from other animals like dogs, dingos, and kangaroos. It was an old bush paddock with a pile of old cars stacked up in a corner, and high fencing to prevent animals or people from getting in or out. I believe the stud farm was in a town called Scone, in the Hunter Valley area of New South Wales, Australia.

One night a police officer from the neighbouring valley reported some lights in the sky. He followed them as far as he could. The next morning Dad and another guy went to check on the mare, to see if it had gone into foal overnight. They found the mare, she had had the foal, but there was no foal or afterbirth anywhere. There was a large ring burnt into the ground and the paint on the old cars had been burnt off on the sides facing the ring. Dad also said nothing grew in that ring for a long time. Dad passed away about 13 years ago so I can't get any more information.

My cousins used to tell me stories when I was young about Yowies, and Aussie Bigfoot. They told me that Queen Yowie used to ride a chopper. I didn't know what they looked like. I pictured black ghosts on bikes. Ghosts like in the Scooby Doo cartoons. Here's a story or two about a ghost in an old building.

The building was going to be a church, but it wasn't finished, a priest shot through with the money. The church was turned into a nightclub. I started as a busboy, then barman, and then basically as the bar manager. I opened up and did all the kegs, alcohol, and money. This club/ building had a bit of a reputation as having a ghost. People would say they'd see a figure upstairs, when they were downstairs, and A glimpse into a large mirror behind the DJ booth.

One night I asked a female bussy to work upstairs as we were busy. I went up to see if she needed anything. She didn't notice me standing at the end of the counter, so I flicked a plastic shot glass near her. She took off running back down the stairs. At the end of the nights, we'd have knockoff drinks. Security had kicked everyone out, so the bar staff and security would have a chat and drink.

One night the drinks were at a corner bar downstairs (we had 3 downstairs, 1 upstairs) when all the glasses and a few bottles were smashed upstairs. Everyone took off! We knew no one was up there. We used to operate another nightclub as well, not open at the same time though.

That night I was asked to go to the haunted club the get some alcohol and money. I drove to the club and went in the side door. In total darkness, I had to make my way to the front door, turn off the silent alarm, and turn on a few lights. I then had to go out the back the the cage to get the alcohol I needed, then upstairs to the safe. Once that was all done I had to turn off the lights, turn on the alarm, and get out. I'd been in there plenty of times by myself during the night and day. That night something felt different. As I turned the lights off and the alarm on, I walked past the entrance to the toilets. I felt like something was there. I turned and looked, it was pitch dark but there was a darker spot that seemed to move. It made me move, and I couldn't wait to get out. I stumbled down some stairs and tried to calm myself thinking I was being stupid. I found myself hurrying again the get out and lock up."

HUGE RED-EYED OWL CRYPTID Stalks 3 Shocked Juveniles in Vermont

Three boys from a juvenile detention center in Vermont have escaped and are on the run. They encounter a large winged owl-like creature that seems to be hunting them.

I received the following account:

"I am forever haunted by this experience. It was April 1977. Two other young guys and I were in a juvenile detention center in Vergennes, Vermont. It was way out in the country and we had made plans to escape that day. We asked for passes to walk across campus to the infirmary. Then when we got outside we ran through the apple fields, up along the creek, and headed north. At one point a bull chased us out onto a tree fallen in the water.

We finally got away and continued running for what seemed like hours. It was a heart-pounding, drenched with sweat ordeal, going through brush fields and a slightly wooded area. We were very tired and running sloppy when all of a sudden, what sounded like a helicopter, was overhead. We ran under a tree and a big shadow went over us. We looked up. A giant creature landed on a thick branch. We just saw its back at first. It looked like a person's back but like a bodybuilder's, with rippling muscles and long legs. We were trying to figure out what it was. It was about 5 to 6 feet tall. When its head turned completely backward, these huge red orangish round eyes, that seemed to be glowing, were staring right at us! They had a hypnotic effect. We were all frozen in fear as it looked at us like prey, and it seemed to be looking for the weakest one.

All of a sudden the branch broke from the weight of this big creature, but its claws were locked on and those huge wings unfolded. The wind from those wings was very strong and it carried the branch up over us and dropped it right in front of us. Then it turned its body while hovering above us. I yelled, grabbed a branch, waved it, and made lots of noise. It looked a little bewildered and very quietly turned away and glided off without hardly making a sound. I believe it thought we were injured prey and probably hunted other animals like that. I also believe it was trying to scatter us by dropping the tree limb nearby. It was a huge.

My native people's Owl legend calls them 'big hoots.' They had horns like Horned Owls. It was brown with a grayish-speckled underbelly, huge claws that could grab a person, and an enormous beak. I think this is what people call the Mothman.

One of the guys hung himself a few months later. He was really freaked out after the encounter and turned himself into the authorities. His name was Jim. I believe if we were not hiding from the helicopter we thought was overhead it would have snatched Jim. He was the weakest and lagging behind. It did seem to be concentrating on him when it was staring us down with those big orange-red glowing eyes.

I have been telling this story for over 40 years. Most people think I am crazy when I talk about an owl with a ten-foot wingspan." FP
