HORNED BLACK SHADOW 'CREATURE' Plagued Canadian Victim

A Toronto, Ontario, Canada writes about their experiences with a frightening black shadow 'creature' with horns, along with clawed hands and feet. Was it a corporeal entity?

I received the following account:

"My experiences took place in the early 80s in Toronto, Canada, and just like the fellow writing of his experiences on your site, mine also took place in a very old house. The house then was at least 75 years old and has since been razed to the ground and a brand new structure was built in its place. When my family moved in there we experienced the same sort of events, arguments, abusive situations, and strange phenomena but not to the point where we all noticed it right away. In fact, my younger brother was a skeptic up to the point where things began happening to him as well. I think he took this attitude to allay the fears he must have had. Our father moved out of the house after the first year and away to another part of the country so just the three of us were left. At one point we had family come and live with us before they too departed.

My experiences began with an event I will never forget when I was 16. It was summer and I had difficulty sleeping. This went on for one month approximately. Then one night I had fallen into a light sleep when I was violently awakened. I recall hearing a sound that I thought was an explosion and thinking that our stove must have exploded in the kitchen below me. I opened my eyes and looked around the room in the darkness but saw nothing to indicate anything was happening. Suddenly my bed began to shake violently up and down and it felt as though I was being electrocuted through my solar plexus. I couldn't move but I could see my feet moving as the bed was jumping up and down. Some objects rose up off my dresser and shot towards the bed I thought they would hit me as they approached with such speed. In fact, they stopped suddenly and began to swirl around in a counterclockwise direction above me, and from the center of this swirl a bright white light appeared and some voices which were like high-pitched shrieks or nails on a blackboard said quite clearly. "The message we bring is to tell the people he is still alive." And then everything stopped suddenly. I was terrified and basically thought I would end up in a nut house. I remember shaking from fear so much I could barely get out of bed. I made my way to my mom's room to tell her about it at which point she assured me I was having nightmares. Say your prayers and go back to sleep she said. I returned to my room after an hour or more but I couldn't sleep. It was a long time before I could sleep there in fact.

The next event happened the following January. I was coming home very late one night and decided to take the shortcut through the alleyway by our street. I passed a parked van with windows all around and I saw a movement in the van which made me feel somehow by its shape, size, and response that it was a Doberman someone had left outside in their van. I kept walking but the thought pestered me that someone should leave their dog out in mid-winter in the night. So I went back to the van cautiously peering in but there was nothing at all. Not even a cushion or anything hanging from the ceiling. Ok, I thought I guess I imagined it. I happily kept walking home and when I was in the alley I suddenly heard footsteps behind me in the snow. I got a little freaked out and when I turned my head I didn't see anyone there. As I got to the end of the alleyway and turned onto my street I looked back to the entrance to see if anyone was following me. What I saw shocked and terrified me. There was a streetlight right at the corner and in the pool of its light was standing this enormous creature. It was at least 8 feet tall and huge. What struck me was that its form was completely black, there were no reflective surfaces on it whatsoever. In fact, the light was shining directly on it and it seemed to absorb that light. It had large things on its head which I took to be horns or ears and its fingers ended in points like claws and the feet as well. Its eyes were red completely and staring right at me. I don't think my feet touched the ground I ran so fast.

After that experience, I had a few others with the same creature. Another night I came home late again and I fell onto my bed after shutting the door just wanting to fall asleep. My cat was in the bed with me when we both heard a voice laughing in the room. A masculine voice. My cat freaked out and ran to the door scratching and miaowing loudly to get out, I opened the door and she took off. I just didn't want to believe anything was in there with me so I pointedly turned my back to the rest of the room and went to sleep. Another night I turned over and opened my eyes early in the morning and there was the same creature, smaller though, standing in front of my closet staring at me. I recall I got really mad and told it to eff off and turned around and went back to sleep. Meanwhile, my brother had seen the exact same creature but he had yellow eyes. He confided the story to me years later when we had left the house and had no knowledge of my experiences. He told me he had awakened early one morning and found that he had left the light on in his room, thinking that he should get up and turn it off he turned onto his back and opened his eyes and there sitting on his bed's headboard was the same creature, talons on feet and hands, completely black with no reflective surfaces, but his was he said about 4 ft tall and squatting on the headboard staring at him with yellow eyes. He said he was terrified and decided not to turn off the light after all. I don't remember if he said it vanished quickly or if he shut his eyes and when he opened them it was gone. He said he never saw it again but had other strange experiences in that house.

One day we decided that we should trade rooms. So I moved all my stuff out to his room and vice versa. I teased him and said he'd have to share my room with a visitor but he was disbelieving. After I had moved to his room I had my last experience in that house that was in the shadow people realm. I woke up one night to a sound in my room like rustling. I was wide awake because I thought it might be a mouse. I switched on my lamp and looked toward the other end of the room but seeing and hearing nothing I lay down again with the light still on. I turned to look at the clock and saw that it was 2:20 AM. Then I saw these two large globes of light beyond my nightstand. I was frozen up on one elbow because I had been about to turn out my light again. They moved in a way that reminded me of balloons falling. The larger of the two was golden yellow in color and the smaller was blue. They looked like spheres lit from within and emanating a misty light from their forms. I somehow could sense that they were intelligent. They knew that I was looking at them and they wanted me to see. The larger golden one floated almost majestically to the door whereupon it flattened to a pancake shape in under half a second and slipped under the door. The second smaller one followed along and did the same. I was very nervous and scared at that point but only because I had to go to the bathroom and this meant I had to go out into the hallway where they had vanished to. Our hallway was very dark and without a proper light as the house was old and not renovated very well. I waited for as long as I could which was about 15 minutes and then I cautiously opened my door and went. The hallway was pitch black so my plan was to inch my way to the bathroom with my back to the wall so nothing could sneak up on me and once I got there I could turn on the bathroom light to illuminate the hallway. I followed my plan through and as it turned out when I turned on the bathroom light it shone down onto the stairs and the first landing. In the light were two shadow people. I've only ever thought of them that way because there was no other way to describe them. They looked like shadows, only they were in the light. They didn't look like the other creatures I had seen, in fact, they looked like people in the sense that they had a head and arms and legs and torso and hands. They threw up their hands as though in surprise, like I'd caught them unexpectedly and then they flew down the stairs without a sound. It took me a long time to come out of that bathroom as I didn't want to encounter any of these things again.

Unlike your other poster, these creatures never touched me, at least to my knowledge, and never tried to hurt me. Although they did scare the dickens out of me. I recall telling these stories to people years later in other parts of the world hearing similar tales and wondering just what they could be. Somehow we don't seem that much closer to knowing. I would conjecture though that as is the case with plant and insect life here we certainly haven't got all the facts in yet. Perhaps these creatures share the world we live in but differently and we have learned to ignore them or pretend they don't exist. Maybe they are trying to tell us they do exist. Perhaps like us, there are those with good intentions and those with not-so-good intentions. It's my opinion that we are getting closer to the truth every day.

A side note here: I read a book a year ago called 'Initiation' by Elizabeth Haich in which she distinctly mentions the shadow people and the effects they caused on the lives of people she knew including her own son before WWII. If this is true then perhaps these are beings who've been with us for a very long time. Then again if they are time travellers all things are possible. Sincerely, Pema"

What are the Reptilians? These ‘lizard beings’ are called ‘Saurians,’ ‘Draconians,’ or ‘Reptoids.’ Some researchers describe them as ancient shapeshifting humanoids who have inhabited Earth before the time of man. Some conspiracy enthusiasts believe these entities come from a royal extraterrestrial lineage that currently dominates world governments and financial markets. There are also claims that they are related to the Anunnaki, who were supposedly a winged Draconian race, who had descended into Mesopotamia during human pre-history with the knowledge of the planets in the solar system, the precession of the equinoxes, and an understanding of complex medical procedures. It has also been said that the Anunnaki gave the Sumerians a ‘stargate’ before leaving Earth.
I’m not going to make any argument as to the identity of these entities or if they existed in antiquity. But I will acknowledge that their presence is mentioned in many experiencer encounters and abduction accounts and that numerous theories are quite prolific. As a result, there have been thousands of articles and books written about the subject.
So, do I find any facts in these encounter reports? Well, I’ve heard and read a lot of unexplained phenomena over the years. I find it prudent to not make assumptions based on personal bias because you may eventually be proven wrong. What do you believe?

Possible FERAL HUMAN Encountered in Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains

A Virginia woman is hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains when she observes a cave opening on a mountainside. She climbs up the face to explore the opening. She soon regrets that decision!

I received the following account:

"I traveled about an hour from my home in Lynchburg, Virginia to do some exploring in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I'm not big on hiking or whatever but I had recently gone through a breakup with my boyfriend. I just needed some fresh air and some time alone. I parked and just started wandering. I didn't follow a specific path. I was mesmerized by the gigantic trees, the fauna, and the wildlife. I was really enjoying myself.

I'd been hiking for about two hours when I saw this large hole on a nearby mountainside. It wasn't too far seemed like it was a manageable climb. so I climbed up and when I got to the grotto I stuck my head in and it was dark. I turned on my phone's flashlight and that's when I realized this was a deep cave. I got a little carried away thinking about how I had discovered a cave wondering if anybody else had ever been up here. It was sort of exciting. I ducked down and I walked in.

I went in a few feet I was very careful but I could see a smooth rock floor beneath me. I felt safe. So I continued walking forward following the light from my flashlight. I was maybe 15 or 20 feet in when I realized I was in a cavern. There were a few openings in the walls surrounding the cavern. I picked the closest one to me and I looked in. It was another tunnel. It was big enough to walk through, so I stepped through the opening and I carefully walked a few more feet. That's when I heard scampering. I stopped walking thinking maybe I had kicked something. I looked all around but saw nothing.

I then heard the scampering again and when I raised my phone up to look ahead of me I saw a person! Only like not a regular person, but a humanoid. It was fully nude and it looked very malnourished. It was crouched down on its hands and feet about four feet in front of me. It was so pale, like maybe it had never ever even seen the Sun. Its face was sunken in and I could clearly see the cheekbones. It had totally black eyes, not just the pupils but all black! Between its hands was a half-eaten rabbit

I heard the chattering sound and I realized that this humanoid was making the noise. I don't know how I knew but it was calling out to others. I moved back toward the entrance but I kept my flashlight on it. It seemed fearful of the light and didn't try to move towards me.

I was able to get back through the entrance and I took a look around. I didn't see anything else. I then ran for my life back the way I came and I could hear the chattering and it was getting closer and louder. There had to be more than just one. I felt like I was being hunted. I was able to see the light from the original opening. I tripped I quickly got up and rushed out of that hole. I ran and slid down the mountain. I only stopped when I was sure nothing had followed me. Then I realized I had no phone. I must have lost it when I tripped. I had no idea where I was but I was just happy to be alive.

I did eventually find a trail and I managed to make it back to my car. I found the local police station, but it was pointless because they wouldn't take me seriously. So I just drove home. I cried so much on that drive and when I got home I checked my phone's location with the satellite feature. All I could see was a heavily wooded area.

The last time I checked the location of my phone it had moved several miles away from its original location. I'm sure the battery has long since run out.

I have done a bit of research online and found references to crawler humanoids. But I'm just wondering if this was a feral human of some kind? Regardless, I'm not going back to that area." M

NOTE: This may seem like a far-fetched story to some readers, but I have heard and read similar accounts. After corresponding with the witness, I'm not really sure what she encountered. The location, from what she could determine, was in Montgomery County, south of Lafayette, VA.

I don't necessarily believe that it was a crawler humanoid since its reactions and demeanor were different than most of the accounts that I have been told previously. Was it a feral human? Possibly, I suppose. Lon

Actress GOLDIE HAWN: Aliens 'Touched My Face'

In a recent article in Newsweek, actress Goldie Hawn describes her close encounter with 3 aliens with triangular-shaped heads in her early years in Southern California.

Goldie Hawn opened up about her close encounter with aliens, saying they touched her face and it felt like "the finger of God." The actress spoke about her long-held belief in extraterrestrial beings, saying that they visited her after she called out to them when she was 20 years old.

"That was a time when, you know, there was a lot of UFO sightings," Hawn said about her time working as a dancer in California in her early 20s. "I remember this so clearly: I went outside my door, and I sat on the little ledge, and I looked up at the dark sky. And I saw all these stars. And all I could think of was, How far does this go? How little are we? Are we the only planet in the whole wide universe that has life on it?"

The actress then called out to any aliens that may have been listening: "I know you're out there, I know we're not alone, and I would like to meet you one day."

Four months later, Hawn was working on a dance job in West Covina, California, when she asked to take a nap in a friend's car. As she settled down, she said she "got this high-pitched sound in my ear." While hearing the "high frequency," Hawn claimed to see around three "triangular-shaped heads."

"They were silver in color, slash for a mouth, tiny little nose, no ears. They were pointing at me, pointing at me in the car as if they were discussing me like I was a subject. And they were droning," she added and described how she was unable to move during the episode until she was able to "burst out" of it.

Hawn spoke about how the aliens "touched me, and it felt like the finger of God. It was the most benevolent, loving feeling. This was powerful. It was filled with light."

Hawn would later go on to study crop circles and even dreamed of seeing aliens again the night before a mysterious circle appeared near where she was staying. "We got to the spot, and, by God, I was standing on this hill, looking down over a dark valley. That was exactly the spot in my dream," she said.

"We can never ever lose our wonder," Hawn said. "It's just no fun. It's really an important aspect of being an adventurer, where nothing is impossible."

Experiencer Claimed Her Son to be a DRACONIAN REPTOID HYBRID

This account was forwarded to me several years ago by another researcher, a friend of the experiencer, who had read my book 'Alien Disclosure: Experiencers Expose Reality.' I was asked for my opinion.

"At the time, I lived in Northwest Michigan. My hybrid son was taken in mid-April of 2012. They used the word 'claimed.' I carried him for about 2 months. I knew he was a boy and I named him Drax. Named after Max (his human father) and the Draconian Reptoids I am involved with.

During my pregnancy, my ex was shut down and I was taken for several hours. When I was coming to I saw a figure standing at the side of the bed making circles above my stomach. I knew I had just been returned and I knew they were making one last check on the baby. He was brought to me on October 10, 2012, for feeding and bonding. He would leave claw marks on me while feeding. He didn't mean to hurt me. There was absolutely no feeling to the red and infected-looking claw marks and they were basically gone in 4 hours.

There is so much more to this than I could possibly try to write. "They" have been manipulating my pineal gland. They can use me as a computer, loading and downloading information. I feel as if I am "ahead of time." I have received many messages from them and continue to.

I have many very credible witnesses. They include an attorney, a fireman/farmer, and a prison guard. I have been regressed 5 times and some are recorded. The psychologist who regressed me would be willing to speak.

I need help. I have reached out to many people. The only time I feel okay is when I am sharing what is happening to me. Some of the things that are happening are difficult to share because they make others very uncomfortable. So I am left holding all this inside. I have been doing illustrations, writing down everything, and keeping track of dates the best I can.

This all started in 1961 when I was 12. It was a sighting (daylight) with several witnesses including two police officers. I am still in contact with the Chief of Police from back then. Unfortunately, he is 93 and in bad health along with good and bad memory days. He was at the station and said he fielded calls for over 20 minutes. One of the calls was from a fellow officer at the scene and another was a city councilwoman. I was discouraged from talking about this in hopes that I would forget. It was the worst thing my parents could have done. I never talked about it for 50 years. It was only when I met a ufologist and college professor on September 1, 2011, that I opened up. I told him of the sighting. That's all I thought it was for 50 years. But, I lived with PTSD and panic attacks. I haven't had a pap smear in 20 years and still am unable to watch someone get a shot or IV. He was a smart man and knew there was more to it than that so he found the regression therapist. At the end of my first regression, I felt myself immobilized and going up into the ship.

One of the very first messages they gave me in 2011 was, "All memories are packed and taken with us in each new life. When the load becomes too heavy or we no longer have the energy to carry it we travel as LIGHT, KNOWLEDGE, and ENERGY." L

MOTHMAN Makes Itself Known to North Georgia Eyewitness

Years ago, I received an email from a woman (who I will refer to as 'EW') from North Georgia who thought she had encountered a Mothman. After many months of correspondence, the witness agreed to allow me to post the event, but only under strict circumstances. She reviewed this post and agreed to the following content being published:

"Hello. I am hoping you can shed some light on an incident I had a few years ago. I was twenty-five at the time and was driving to my friend CW's house. It was quiet at 11:30 PM as I drove south on an old country road off of (redacted) highway near (redacted) in North Georgia. Very few people pass this way because it leads to nothing but a small group of houses. I turned on the radio but nothing came on. I figured it was a blown fuse but then I started to hear weird scratching sounds coming through the speakers. It sounded like a distant voice but I couldn't understand what it was saying.

Suddenly, something flew in front of the car and hit the windshield with enough size and force that it totally mangled the grill and hood. I immediately stopped the car. I heard what sounded like wings flapping on the roof, but then something rolled down the back window onto the trunk then eventually onto the road. I thought I killed whatever it was. A woman in a truck had pulled up from behind and said she saw the thing hit the road. She said that its eyes were glaring bright red. As we looked more closely at this thing it resembled a man with large bat-like wings. The woman walked back to her truck pulled a shotgun from the back and pointed it at this bat-like creature.

It was starting to move and we backed off. It slowly stood up on two large raptor-like claws, turned, and stared directly at us with those terrible bright red eyes. The woman pumped the shotgun. It slowly levitated off the ground with wings spread until it was about 10 feet up then instantly, it let out a deafening screech as it just disappeared with a loud 'swoosh'. The woman (who I found out later was CW's aunt) and I just looked at each other.

This thing had the body of a well-built man. It had no feathers but charcoal gray skin like that of a bat with some hair on the shoulders and around the eyes and legs. When it spread its wings, it had a span of 12 feet or more. I estimate it was about 8 feet tall. It had no head, however, just the eyes embedded on the shoulders that had brows. I didn't notice a mouth or nose. There is no way I was going to report this and CW's aunt totally agreed. We both drove off to CW's house. I was so shaken up that I stayed the night.

The next morning, I went outside to inspect the car. There was a huge crack in the windshield and the grill was mangled beyond repair. The hood also had a deep 25-inch dent. I started to walk back to the house when I noticed something lying in the grass beside the garage. It was CW's Golden Retriever lying dead from massive lacerations up and down its back. I just knew that thing did it.

That was 3 years ago and I constantly dream of this creature. I was told by a friend that I had encountered a Mothman. It looked more like a Batman, to be honest. I decided to look up a few of the sightings by others and saw your name and blog. Many of the images on Google were very similar to what I saw. I wrote to someone else about a year ago but they never got back to me. I have included 2 of the images I think look the most like the creature I hit with my car that night. NOTE: I contacted EW and tried to answer her questions. I have no doubt she witnessed a winged humanoid and most likely a Mothman. She agreed to let me post the incident provided I leave out several of the more personal points from the original email. I will say that EW has experienced many of the same anomalous events claimed by a few of the original Point Pleasant, WV witnesses, including some I discovered myself through research and witness interviews. 'The Cannibal in the Jungle': Does EBU GOGO Exist?

This is an article that I presented in 2015. I thought that it deserved another post.

I had the opportunity to watch the two-hour scripted fictional feature The Cannibal in the Jungle on Animal Planet several years ago. The promotional description of the presentation stated:

...it follows the story of an American scientist who was convicted of killing and cannibalizing two colleagues in the jungles of Flores, Indonesia in 1977.

Branded “The American Cannibal” by the press during his trial, Dr. Timothy Darrow defended himself by claiming a mythic human-ape creature was responsible for the murders.

Animal Planet’s dramatic story is an imaginative leap inspired by real science. In 2004, a study in the journal Nature announced the discovery of bones of an entirely new, remarkable species of humans. Fully grown adults stood only three feet tall, yet they were able to thrive in the chaotic and dangerous world that surrounded them. The new species was nicknamed “Hobbits,” after J.R.R. Tolkien’s diminutive heroes. These real hobbits are purported to have lived less than 20,000 years ago, which would make them the last other species of human to live alongside ourselves.

But did these hobbits fully go extinct? Later, 60 Minutes sent a film crew to investigate the Nature article. While on site in Flores, the crew unearthed the local legend that the creatures may have never died out at all.

Animal Planet’s scripted film THE CANNIBAL IN THE JUNGLE follows an expedition team deep into the heart of Flores Island to investigate Darrow’s claims and find out once and for all if these legendary creatures still exist.

Personally, I thought the overall presentation was entertaining and imaginative. It brought together the 2003 discovery of Homo floresiensis 'Flores Man' and the local Ebu Gogo legend...a being that the Flores islanders believe to be real. The show went a step further and created a fictional story where Homo floresiensis had survived and evolved during the past 12,000 years into murderous cannibalistic beings. Despite the fictional story, it may not be beyond the possibility that a breeding population of hairy hominids may exist in the foreboding jungles of Flores.

So what's the story of the beings known as Ebu Gogo?

Ebu Gogo is a group of human-like creatures that appear in the mythology of the people of the island of Flores, Indonesia. In the Nage language of central Flores, ebu means 'grandmother' and gogo means 'he who eats anything'.

The Ebu Gogo are described as small, nasty people with a voracious appetite that sometimes included the devouring of the occasional human baby. Ebu Gogo has hair-covered bodies, longish arms, big bellies, and protruding ears. They were said to walk awkwardly and could be heard murmuring in their own language and were said to be capable of mimicking human speech. When they could tolerate the Ebu Gogo no more the Flores islanders drove the small people in the direction of the caves, perhaps near Liang Bau, or perhaps they burned the survivors alive. In any case, these stories were probably told to keep truculent Flores children in line in much the same fashion as some Western fairy tales are told.

Indonesian culture just like any other has folklore about ghosts, little people, and mysterious beings. Word-of-mouth folktales are handed down from generation to generation. Indonesian village people would talk of an ape-like creature that walks like a man.

Some scientists believe that the Ebu Gogo folklore may be a shared cultural memory of Homo floresiensis but there is no solid evidence to support that theory. However, legends have the Ebu Gogo disappeared about 400 years ago at the time of the arrival of the Dutch and Portuguese explorers. Scientists working on the Homo floresiensis find have also referred to the Ebu Gogo as 'Hobbits'.

From October 2004 - telegraph - Richard Roberts, discoverer of the 'Hobbit', says local tales suggest the species could still exist.

When I was back in Flores earlier this month we heard the most amazing tales of little, hairy people, whom they called Ebu Gogo - Ebu meaning grandmother and Gogo meaning 'he who eats anything'. The tales contained the most fabulous details - so detailed that you'd imagine there had to be a grain of truth in them.

One of the village elders told us that the Ebu Gogo ate everything raw, including vegetables, fruits, meat and, if they got the chance, even human meat.

When food was served to them they also ate the plates, made of pumpkin - the original guests from hell (or heaven, if you don't like washing up and don't mind replacing your dinner set every week).

The villagers say that the Ebu Gogo raided their crops, which they tolerated, but decided to chase them away when the Ebu Gogo stole - and ate - one of their babies.

They ran away with the baby to their cave which was at the foot of the local volcano, some tens of metres up a cliff face. The villagers offered them bales of dry grass as fodder, which they gratefully accepted.

A few days later, the villagers went back with a burning bale of grass which they tossed into the cave. Out ran the Ebu Gogo, singed but not fried, and were last seen heading west, in the direction of Liang Bua, where we found the Hobbit, as it happens.

When my colleague Gert van den Bergh first heard these stories a decade ago, which several of the villages around the volcano recount with only very minor changes in detail, he thought them no better than leprechaun tales until we unearthed the Hobbit. (I much prefer Ebu as the name of our find but my colleague Mike Morwood was insistent on Hobbit.)

The anatomical details in the legends are equally fascinating. They are described as about a metre tall, with long hair, pot bellies, ears that slightly stick out, a slightly awkward gait, and longish arms and fingers - both confirmed by our further finds this year.

They [the Ebu Gogo] murmured at each other and could repeat words [spoken by villagers] verbatim. For example, to 'here's some food', they would reply 'here's some food'. They could climb slender-girthed trees but, here's the rub, were never seen holding stone tools or anything similar, whereas we have lots of sophisticated artefacts in the H. floresiensis levels at Liang Bua. That's the only inconsistency with the Liang Bua evidence.

The women Ebu Gogo had extremely pendulous breasts, so long that they would throw them over their shoulders, which must have been quite a sight in full flight.

We did ask the villagers if they ever interbred with the Ebu Gogo. They vigorously denied this, but said that the women of Labuan Baju (a village at the far western end of Flores, better known as LBJ) had rather long breasts, so they must have done.

Poor LBJ must be the butt of jokes in Flores, rather like the Irish and Tasmanians.

A local eruption at Liang Bua (in western Flores) may have wiped out local hobbits around 12,000 years ago, but they could well have persisted much later in other parts of the island. The villagers said that the last hobbit was seen just before the village moved location, farther from the volcano, not long before the Dutch colonists settled in that part of central Flores, in the 19th century.

Do the Ebu Gogo still exist? It would be a hoot to search the last pockets of rainforest on the island. Not many such pockets exist, but who knows. At the very least, searching again for that lava cave, or others like it, should be done, because remains of hair only a few hundred years old, would surely survive, snagged on the cave walls or incorporated in deposits, and would be ideal for ancient DNA analyses.

Interestingly, we did find lumps of dirt with black hair in them this year in the Hobbit levels, but don't know yet if they're human or something else. We're getting DNA testing done, which we hope will be instructive.

Are Orang Pendek and Homo Floresiensis related...or the same species?

From December 2004 - smh - Chief Epiradus Dhoi Lewa has a strange tale to tell. Sitting in his bamboo and wooden home at the foot of an active volcano on the remote Indonesian island of Flores, he recalls how people from his village were able to capture a tiny woman with long, pendulous breasts three weeks ago.

"They said she was very little and very pretty," he says, holding his hand at waist height. "Some people saw her very close up."

The villagers of Boawae believe the strange woman came down from a cave on the steaming mountain where short, hairy people they call Ebu Gogo lived long ago.

"Maybe some Ebu Gogo are still there," the 70-year-old chief told the Herald through an interpreter in Boawae last week.

The locals' descriptions of Ebu Gogo as about a metre tall, with pot bellies and long arms match the features of a new species of human "hobbits" whose bones were recently unearthed by Australian and Indonesian researchers in a different part of Flores in a cave known as Liang Bua.

The unexpected discovery of this tiny Homo floresiensis, who existed until at least 12,000 years ago at Liang Bua, before being apparently wiped out by a volcanic eruption, was hailed as one of the most important archaeological finds in decades when it was announced in October.

The chief adds that the mysterious little woman in Boawae somehow "escaped" her captors, and the local police said they knew nothing of her existence when he quizzed them.

The prospect that some hobbits still exist in pockets of thick, fertile jungle on Flores is extremely unlikely, says Douglas Hobbs, a member of the team that discovered Homo floresiensis. But it is possible they survived near Boawae until 300 or so years ago, when the chief's ancestors moved into the area, he says.

The detailed stories that the villagers tell about the legendary Ebu Gogo on the volcano have convinced the Australian and Indonesian team to search for bones of hobbits in this cave when they return to the rugged island next year, says Hobbs, an emeritus archaeologist with the University of New England, who discussed excavation plans with the chief last week.

Getting to the cave on the 2100-metre-high Ebulobo volcano, however, will be no simple matter for the team led by Professor Mike Morwood of UNE. The blood of a pig must first be spilt in this society where Catholic faith is melded with animist beliefs and ancestor worship.

The sacrifice and the feast will please the ancestors and bring many villagers together to talk about the cave, says the chief, whose picture of his grandfather, the king, in traditional head-dress, sits framed on the wall next to images of Jesus.

If the right rituals are followed, "then we will be able to find the road to the hole again", he says.

A Dutch palaeontologist, Dr Gert van den Bergh, a member of the team, was first shown the cave at a distance more than a decade ago, after hearing folk tales of the Ebu Gogo, which means "grandmother who eats everything".

People living around the volcano told him a consistent story of the hairy creatures that devoured whatever they could grasp in their long fingers. The villagers tolerated the stealing of food until the Ebu Gogo began to snatch babies and eat them too. They then set upon the little people, forcing them out of the cave with bales of burning grass.

Van den Bergh dismissed the tales as akin to those of leprechauns and elves, until the hobbit bones were found.

While the search for more bones is being planned, a political furore has broken out after a leading Indonesian palaeoanthropologist - with no connection to the find - last week "borrowed" all the delicate remains from six hobbits found at Liang Bua against the wishes of local and Australian team members. Professor Teuku Jacob, of Gadjah Mada University, who has challenged the view that Homo floresiensis is a new species, had previously taken the skull and bones of the most complete specimen, a 30-year-old female hobbit, from the Indonesian Centre for Archaeology in Jakarta, where they had been kept.

Professor Morwood said it was wrong that the team who found the remains were unable to analyse them first. "It is not good for the Indonesian researchers nor their institution."

However, he said Professor Jacob had signed an agreement to return all the bones by January 1.

Were There Historical DOGMEN?

Have there ever been actual dog-headed humans, dog-like humanoids, or bi-pedal dogs in recorded history? Let's look at a few references:

The Kynocephaloi (or Cynocephali) were an Indian and African tribe of dog-headed men. The name Kynokephalos means dog-headed, from "kuôn," a dog, and "kephalos," head.

"On these [the Indian] mountains there live men with the head of a dog, whose clothing is the skin of wild beasts. They speak no language, but bark like dogs, and in this manner make themselves understood by each other. Their teeth are larger than those of dogs, their nails like those of these animals, but longer and rounder. They inhabit the mountains as far as the river Indos. Their complexion is swarthy. They are extremely just, like the rest of the Indians with whom they associate. They understand the Indian language but are unable to converse, only barking or making signs with their hands and fingers by way of reply, like the deaf and dumb. They are called by the Indians Kalystrii, in Greek Kynocephaloi (Cynocephali) (Dog-Headed). They live on raw meat and number about 120,000.

The Kynokephaloi living on the mountains do not practise any trade but live by hunting. When they have killed an animal they roast it in the sun. They also rear numbers of sheep, goats, and asses, drinking the milk of the sheep and whey made from it. They eat the fruit of the Siptakhora, whence amber is procured, since it is sweet. They also dry it and keep it in baskets, as the Greeks keep their dried grapes. They make rafts which they load with this fruit together with well-cleaned purple flowers and 260 talents of amber, with the same quantity of the purple dye, and 1000 additional talents of amber, which they send annually to the king of India. They exchange the rest for bread, flour, and cotton stuffs with the Indians, from whom they also buy swords for hunting wild beasts, bows, and arrows, being very skillful in drawing the bow and hurling the spear. They cannot be defeated in war, since they inhabit lofty and inaccessible mountains. Every five years the king sends them a present of 300,000 bows, as many spears, 120,000 shields, and 50,000 swords.

They do not live in houses, but in caves. They set out for the chase with bows and spears, and as they are very swift of foot, they pursue and soon overtake their quarry. The women have a bath once a month, the men do not have a bath at all, but only wash their hands. They anoint themselves three times a month with oil made from milk and wipe themselves with skins. The clothes of men and women alike are not skins with the hair on, but skins tanned and very fine. The richest wear linen clothes, but they are few in number. They have no beds, but sleep on leaves or grass. He who possesses the greatest number of sheep is considered the richest, and so in regard to their other possessions. All, both men and women, have tails above their hips, like dogs, but longer and more hairy. They are just, and live longer than any other men, 170, sometimes 200 years." - Ctesias, Indica Fragment (summary from Photius, Myriobiblon 72) (trans. Freese) (Greek historian C4th B.C.)

There are other references to the Kynocephaloi:

"In the same part of India as the [crimson-dye] beetles, are born the Kynokephaloi, as they are called--a name which they owe to their physical appearance and nature. For the rest they are of human shape and go about clothes in the skins of beasts; and they are upright and injure no man; and though they have no speech they howl; yet they understand the Indian language. Wild animals are their food, and they catch them with the utmost ease, for they are exceedingly swift of foot; and when they have caught them they kill and cook them, not over a fire but by exposing them to the sun's heat after they have shredded them into pieces. They also keep goats and sheep, and while their food is the flesh of wild beasts, their drink is the milk of the animals they keep. I have mentioned them along with brute beasts, as is logical, for their speech is inarticulate, unintelligible, and not that of man."

"After traversing the Egyptian oasis one is confronted for seven whole days with utter desert. Beyond this live the human Kynoprosopoi (Cynoprosopi) (Dog-Faces) along the road that leads to Aithiopia (Ethiopia). It seems that these creatures live by hunting gazelles and antelopes; further, they are black in appearance, and they have the head and teeth of a dog. And since they resemble this animal, it is very natural that I should mention them here [in a book on Animals]. They are however not endowed with speech, but utter a shrill squeal. Beneath their chin hangs down a beard; we may compare it with the beards of Drakones, and strong and very sharp nails cover their hands. Their whole body is covered with hair--another respect in which they resemble dogs. They are very swift of foot and know the regions that are inaccessible: that is why they appear so hard to capture."

"It occurs to me now to mention the following additional facts relating to Kynokephaloi (Cynocephali) [thought to derive from travellers accounts of baboons]. If a Kynokephalos finds some edible object with a shell on it (I mean almonds, acorns, nuts) its strips the shell off and cleans it out, after first breaking it most intelligently, and it knows that the contents are good to eat but that the outside is to be thrown away. And it will drink whine, and if boiled or cooked meat is served to it, it will eat its fill; and it likes well-seasoned food, but food boiled without any care it dislikes. If it wears clothes, it is careful of them; and it does everything else that I have described. If you put it while still tiny to a woman's breast, it will suck the milk like a baby." - Aelian, On Animals - (trans. Scholfield) (Greek natural history C2nd A.D.)

Then there is this reference:

"Men go by the sea ocean by many isles, unto an isle that is called Nacumera, that is a good isle and fair. And it is in compass about more than a thousand mile. And all the men and women of that isle have hounds' heads, and they be called Cynoceptales (Greek for 'dog heads'). And they be full reasonable and of good understanding, save that they worship an ox for their God. And also every one of them beareth an ox of gold or of silver in his forehead, in token that they love well their God. And they go all naked save a little clout. They be great folk and well-fighting. And they have a great targe [shield] that covereth all the body, and a spear in their hand to fight with. And if they take any man in battle, anon they eat him." - The Travels of Sir John Mandeville (Penguin Classics)[image error]

In the Eastern Orthodox Church, certain icons covertly identify Saint Christopher with the head of a dog. The background to the dog-headed Christopher is laid in the reign of the Emperor Diocletian, when a man named Reprebus, Rebrebus or Reprobus (the "reprobate" or "scoundrel") was captured in combat against tribes dwelling to the west of Egypt in Cyrenaica. To the unit of soldiers, according to the hagiographic narrative, was assigned the name numerus Marmaritarum or "Unit of the Marmaritae", which suggests an otherwise-unidentified "Marmaritae" (perhaps the same as the Marmaricae Berber tribe of Cyrenaica). He was reported to be of enormous size, with the head of a dog instead of a man, apparently a characteristic of the Marmaritae. This Byzantine depiction of St. Christopher as dog-headed resulted from their misinterpretation of the Latin term Cananeus to read canineus, that is, "canine.

As well, in the Chinese record History of the Liang Dynasty , the Buddhist missionary Hui-Sheng describes an island of dog-headed men to the east of Fusang, a nation he visited variously identified as Japan or the Americas. The History of Northern Dynasties of Li Yanshou, a Tang dynasty historian, also mentions the 'dog kingdom'.

The Travels of Marco Polo[image error] mentions the dog-headed barbarians on the island of Angamanain, or the Andaman Islands. Polo states that, although these people grow spices, they are nonetheless cruel and "are all just like big mastiff dogs".

There are many other references to dog-headed men or people with canine ancestry...though, these seem to be more legend than reality. For instance, the Koniagas, a tribe of North American native people on Kodiak Island. They trace their pedigree back to a dog...not unlike many other native Americans who believe the wolf or the coyote are the true origin of their people. Could any of this be factual? I've been known to say that a legend most likely has some truth behind it.

VIDEO: Alaska Store Worker Conversing With An Unseen Entity?

On October 22, 2023, at 11:34 AM, a Marshall, Alaska store worker named Melanie Rose was loading a freezer when she heard a woman speak to her. She turned and had a conversation with her. When she went to into the office, that is when Melanie noticed something odd on the security camera. The woman she was talking to wasn't there.

On October 22, 2023, Melanie, on her personal Facebook page, posted this comment along with the security footage from the store's camera (which runs about 49 seconds).

“Recent but not recent. I thought I was having an actual conversation with a person. She came asking me where do we get the charge slips. I tried to tell her 3 times but she didn’t bother to look. So I decided to show her where. [She] said she didn’t come to [the] store in long time. Ugh I wouldn’t forget it.”

The footage seems to show Melanie actually turning and speaking to a person who isn't there. Melanie eventually becomes frustrated by the woman's inability tounderstand her and then walks towards the office (per her statement) and out of frame. At no point does another person appear in the footage with Melanie, anddefinitely not in the place where Melanie claims that she was standing.

The comment section of the clip, no surprise, was filled with people asking about the video and the phantom female that Melanie chatted with. Describing her, Melanie noted, “She was an elder, with a parka. She had a birthmark on her forehead right side. She was between the Mountain Dew (bottle stack) and the freezer. I didn’t notice she was there till she talked.”

One skeptical commenter suggested that was merely a NVR Police Officer getting off shift (which might make sense if you ignore every aspect of the encounter - sigh - skeptics). “Pamela, this was at 11:30 AM,” Melanie replied. When people asked about what happened when she went out of frame, Melanie said. “When I left to go show her the office. I told the office worker she wanted a charge. But when I looked at the cameras I saw no one ... After I noticed there was nobody on the camera in the office I didn’t see her again.”

The Lost Girl in the Bennington Triangle

The Bennington Triangle is another one of these mysterious 'hotspots' that seems to attract strange and bizarre activity. This is a well-known and unexplained incident.

"I'm going to hike on the Long Trail."

These words were the last that anyone heard from Paula Welden, the now-legendary Bennington College student who disappeared mysteriously 68 years ago. Her story is without a doubt Bennington's most infamous unsolved mystery and one that continues to appear in New England authors' histories of the occult and unexplained.

Dec. 1, 1946, began like any other day in Bennington for Paula Welden, an 18-year-old sophomore at the college. She worked two shifts at the school's dining hall, came back to her room, and conversed for a while with her roommate, Elizabeth Johnson. Then, she told Johnson, "I'm all through with studies, I'm taking a long walk," and headed out around 2:45 p.m., according to Johnson's recollections. She was wearing a distinctive red coat with a fur collar, jeans, and lightweight sneakers.

Given that it was a cold, though the snowless day and the temperatures were predicted to be subfreezing by nightfall, she seemed either underdressed for a walk in the woods or was only planning to be out for a short while. That is only one of the unsolved mysteries surrounding Welden's appearance and behavior that fateful November day.

Shortly thereafter, a blond, slight, red coat-clad young woman was seen by Danny Fager, the owner of a gas station that at the time was across the street from the college gates. Fager said the girl ran up the side of a gravel pit near the college entrance, then ran down it again. Then she went out of view. Later, search parties would call in a bulldozer to sift through the gravel pit on the off-chance that she had been buried alive. No evidence was found.

Just before 3 p.m., Louis Knapp of Woodford picked up a girl hitchhiking on Route 67A just outside the college entrance. His description of her matched Welden. When climbing into his truck, the girl nearly slipped, and Knapp warned her, "Be careful." No further words were spoken between them until Knapp let her off near his driveway, which was on Route 9 near the Long Trail, where the girl had told him she wanted to go. After thanking Knapp for the ride, Welden headed for the trail.

The next sighting of the girl was roughly 45 minutes later in Bickford Hollow, where several residents reported seeing her headed to the trail. One was Ernie Whitman, a watchman for the Banner, who warned her about heading up into the mountains dressed so lightly and at such a late hour. She continued on anyway, into the woods, and out of sight forever.

Night fell, and there was no sign of Welden anywhere. Johnson, her roommate, was reportedly very nervous but chose not to inform college authorities until the next morning, when college President Lewis Webster Jones was notified of Welden's disappearance. He in turn called Welden's parents to see if she had gone home for the weekend. Welden's mother reportedly collapsed from shock and was confined to her bed, while her father, W. Archibald, headed straight for Bennington from their Stamford, Conn., home to commence a search for their missing daughter.

Welden's father arrived in Bennington and immediately organized a large group of volunteers from all corners of the community, including local residents and members of both Bennington College and Williams College. Classes at Bennington were suspended so that all students could participate in the search. By the evening of Dec. 2, however, the college students had reportedly become frustrated with what they saw as an incompetent search, and they shared their criticism with Welden's father and President Jones.

Welden, an engineer who was well-known in his home state, used his influence to call in State Police from New York and Connecticut. At the time, Vermont did not have its own state police force, and the search for Paula Welden was unfortunately disorganized and lacking in resources.

Vermont did have a state investigator by the name of Almo Franzoni, and within days of Paula's disappearance, he was put on the case. He, along with representatives from the New York and Connecticut police departments, took over the search. Those who had been volunteering to comb the Glastenbury wilderness for Paula switched their efforts to raising money for a reward. Collectively, they raised $5,000.

Their efforts would be to no avail, however, as the days went by and there was still no trace of Paula. There were several tantalizing and unquestionably strange leads that kept investigators looking, such as the claim by a waitress in Fall River, Mass., that she had served dinner to an agitated young woman at a table who matched Paula's description. This lead struck her father as so promising that he disappeared for 36 hours to follow it, without telling anyone of his whereabouts until he returned to Bennington. This led some to point to Welden as the prime suspect in his daughter's disappearance, a theory made even more compelling by the facts surrounding the week before Paula's disappearance.

Apparently, Paula was expected to go home to Connecticut for Thanksgiving, but she called her parents and told them that she would be staying in Bennington. Apparently, according to Johnson, she and her father had had a falling out not long before her disappearance, and Johnson retracted her original statement that Paula was "not distraught" to say that, in fact, she had been quite depressed.

Many speculated that Paula's depression was centered around a faraway boyfriend, and her father at one point posited a theory that his daughter had a boy from her hometown who "wanted to call on her," and could have been a suspect. Mr. Welden could never provide any evidence to substantiate his claim, however, though he claimed that a clairvoyant from Pownal insinuated a man's involvement in Paula's disappearance.

On Dec. 16, Paula's father packed up his daughter's belongings and returned to Connecticut, but not before lambasting Vermont for its lack of a professional police force. He deplored the alleged irresponsibility of those heading up the search, especially the fact that there had been no records kept of the first 10 days of the investigation. This was not overlooked by the small army of reporters from across New England who had descended on Bennington to cover the story, and the negative press the state received in the weeks following Paula's disappearance helped lead to the creation of the Vermont State Police in a legislative session in July 1947.

As soon as Welden left, the out-of-state reporters also bid Vermont adieu, although the Banner continued to cover the story as front-page news until late December. Volunteer search parties would continue to make expeditions on the Long Trail, but by early January harsh weather conditions and lack of hope ended their efforts. Any evidence of Paula Welden, if it ever existed, was buried under snow and the passage of time.

Or was it?

In 1955, a lumberjack who had been in Bickford Hollow near the Long Trail where Paula had disappeared said he had followed a girl fitting Paula's description into the woods. More importantly, he told a friend that he knew where Paula's body was buried. After interest in Paula's case had been revived and the man had been extensively questioned by then-village attorney Reuben Levin, the man admitted that he'd been joking and had no knowledge of Paula or her whereabouts.

The case remained unsolved and was nearly declared cold until, 13 years later, an unidentified skeleton was found in Adams. Investigators excitedly awaited the results of an analysis on the bones, only to find that they were too old to have possibly been Paula's. Closure once again proved elusive for the Weldens and investigators of the case.

After the Adams skeleton, no significant leads were ever uncovered, leading people to formulate their own theories as to what became of the girl. Speculations have been widely varied, from the more practical — she ran off with a boyfriend, she died of exposure in the wilderness — to the paranormal. The most intriguing of theories in the latter category is raised by New England author and occult researcher Joseph Citro. He coined the term "The Bennington Triangle" to describe an area of southwestern Vermont within which five people disappeared between 1945 and 1950, including Paula. He links these disappearances to a special energy that inhabits the Glastenbury wilderness area that attracts visitors from outer space, who most likely snatched up Paula and the subsequent missing persons.

For his part, the current Director of the Vermont State Police, James W. Baker, has no particular theory on Paula's disappearance, saying that "since I wasn't directly involved, I can't speculate on the case." However, one thing he can say definitively is that the Vermont State Police came into existence because of Paula, and since their inception in 1947, they have been responsible, by statute, for all wilderness search and rescue missions.

Noting that states like Maine and New Hampshire have wildlife agencies do wilderness rescues, Baker said that the Vermont State Police's mandated responsibility to coordinate wilderness search and rescue efforts comes directly out of the Paula Welden case.

He also said that just two weeks ago he was talking with the head of the State Police Search and Rescue Committee and she had expressed interest in researching the case, to put, as Baker put it, "a new set of eyes on the case."

So is the case of Paula Welden cold? Technically, yes, says Baker, but it still remains open, should any leads come up. Whether or not any new information emerges, it is unlikely that anyone familiar with Bennington history will be able to head up the Long Trail and not think of Paula Welden's ill-fated journey 60 years ago. - benningtonbanner.com

She has a cleft chin and an upturned nose.Clothing/Jewelry Description: A red parka with a fur-trimmed hood, blue jeans, size 6 1/2 or 7 white Top-Sider sneakers with heavy soles, and a small gold ladies' Elgin wristwatch with a narrow black band. The watch has the repairer's marking "13050 HD" scratched on the inside of the back case.

Details of Disappearance

Welden was a sophomore at Bennington College in Bennington, Vermont at the time of her disappearance. She was last seen on December 1, 1946. She worked the breakfast and lunch shifts at the dining hall, came back to her dormitory room in Dewey Hall, and spoke to her roommate for a while before saying she was going for to go to take a study break and go for a hike. She didn't say where she was headed. Welden left campus shortly after 2:30 p.m. She was probably carrying little or no money at the time, and she left behind an uncashed check her parents had sent her for her living expenses. She was also under-dressed for the cold weather.

A passing motorist picked up Welden, who was hitchhiking, near the Bennington campus at 2:45 p.m. She told him she was going to hike on the Long Trail off Route 9, near Glastenbury Mountain. The driver dropped her off on Route 9 three miles from the trail. Several others saw her that day walking on the trail. The last confirmed sighting of Welden was at 4:00 p.m. when she spoke to a man on the trail who asked her how far it extended. He told her it went all the way to Canada. The sun set at about 5:00 p.m. and it began snowing a few hours after that, accumulating three inches.

Welden has never been heard from again. Her roommate became concerned the next morning when she realized she'd never returned home the previous night. Later that morning, she notified the school authorities of Welden's disappearance. At the time, Bennington students were required to sign themselves out if they planned to stay out past 11:00 p.m., and then check in with the school security officer upon their return; Welden had done neither of those things. When she failed to attend her classes the following Monday, Bennington College officials notified her family and the police.

An extensive search of the Long Trail and its environs turned up no sign of Welden and no significant clues. The search was hampered by the fact that Vermont had no state police at the time. Eventually, officials from Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New York stepped in to help. Investigators initially believed Welden had gotten lost in the mountains and died of exposure, but as time passed without their finding any sign of her, they began to consider other theories.

Authorities looked into Welden's background to see if she might have left of her own accord. She was a good student, majoring in art, but she had lately become less interested in the subject. She found herself drawn to music and botany instead and may have been thinking of changing her major. Although there were reports that she was somewhat depressed at the time of her disappearance, her family and friends said she only had normal problems for a girl her age and was not unhappy enough to commit suicide or run away from home. She had never had a steady boyfriend. She left all her belongings behind, and her family stated she was not the type of person to leave without warning. There is also no hard evidence of foul play in Welden's disappearance, although many believe she was murdered and buried somewhere near the Long Trail.

Welden lived with her parents and three younger sisters in Stamford, Connecticut when she was not in school. She enjoyed painting in oils and watercolors, pencil and charcoal sketching, and playing the guitar, she was physically active and an experienced hiker and camper. In part because of her father's lobbying after her disappearance, in July 1947 Vermont passed a law creating a state police force. The Bennington Triangle

The Appalachian Mountain Club calls it the "Triangle of Doom". But, while the happenings in the Bennington Triangle remain a series of unsolved mysteries, can they be classified as paranormal phenomena?

Nestled between the Taconics and the Green Mountains, its rich history and scenic beauty make Bennington a favorite spot for hunters, hikers, and historians.

One of the earliest chartered towns in Colonial America, Bennington is also the site of Vermont's first church, aptly named the "Old First Church", its cemetery is the final resting place of poet Robert Frost. Bennington is also the place where Ethan Allen formed the Green Mountain Boys, a group of three hundred woodsmen who were instrumental in helping the American Colonies win the American Revolutionary War.

Bennington was a quiet town, quite near mysterious Glastenbury Mountain. Native Americans shunned the mountain, believing that the four winds "met" at the top of it and they used the mountain only as a burial ground. European settlers told tales of strange lights over Glastenbury Mountain. Unsourced odors and tales of Bigfoot-type sightings permeated the mountain woodlands.

Yet, the real mountain mystery began in 1945 and lasted for five years.

Seventy-four-year-old Middie Rivers was familiar with the area wilderness. An experienced hunting and fishing guide, on November 12, 1945, he escorted a party of four hunters into the mountain woodlands. Leading the way back to their campsite, Middie disappeared from view and vanished leaving only one clue. After an extensive search, investigators found a single bullet beside a streambed but no trace of Middie was ever found.

Rivers's disappearance was the first in a series of missing persons over the next five years. A year later, on December 1, 1946, Paula Weldon, a sophomore at Bennington College vanished while hiking along Glastenbury Mountain's "Long Trail". A couple behind her reported they had seen her turn a corner, but when they reached the corner, Weldon was gone. Although the ensuing manhunt brought in the FBI and even used a clairvoyant, as in the case of Middie Rivers, no trace of Paula Weldon was ever found.

Exactly three years later, on December 1, 1949, James E. Tetford, a resident of Bennington Soldier's Home disappeared from a commercial bus. Although he was seen boarding the bus and at the stop before Bennington, when the bus reached its destination, Tetford was gone. Although his luggage was found in the luggage rack and a bus timetable lay open on his seat James E. Tetford was never again seen.

On Columbus Day 1950, eight-year-old Paul Jepson disappeared from the family farm. No trace of the child or his bright red coat was ever found, although hundreds of volunteers combed the mountainside in search of him.

Not quite three weeks later, 53-year-old Frieda Langer slipped into a mountain stream while hiking with her cousin. Promising her cousin that she'd catch up with him after changing into dry clothes, Frieda disappeared on the walk back to camp. Hers was the only body found, but not until the next spring. On May 12, 1951, Frieda Langer's decomposed body emerged near the Somerset Reservoir, although the area had been thoroughly searched at the time of her disappearance. Oddly enough, the one "solved" disappearance was the final disappearance on Glastenbury Mountain.

Because four of the five disappearances remain unsolved, rumors and theories are plentiful. Indian legend tells of a "rock that swallows" those who step on it. Some folks believe that the Bigfoot-like "Bennington Monster" is responsible for the mishaps. Of course, others cite alien abductions as a possible cause and some speculators talk about a gateway to some new dimension. Were these five autumn disappearances the work of a serial killer or just a string of coincidental misadventures? Missing People in The Bennington Triangle:

1945 - Middie Rivers was serving as a mountain guide in the area on November 12, 1945. When he was guiding his group back to their camp, he got ahead of the bunch and was never seen again. The event happened near the Long Trail Road, an area that 75-year-old Middie was presumably familiar with. Police and volunteers searched for the man, but no clue to his fate was ever found.

1946 - Paula Welden a college student went hiking on the Long Trail one day, she was never seen again and no trace of her has ever been found.

1949 - Three Hunters went missing in the area around 1949, but there is little evidence to back up the claims.

1949 - James E. Teford got on a bus in St. Albans, by the time the bus reached Bennington, he was gone and never to be seen again. No evidence supports that he actually went missing in the Bennington Triangle area.

1950 - On October 12, Paul Jepson an eight year old went missing. His scent was followed by dogs, but it was lost on a highway.

1950 - Frieda Lander disappeared on October 28, 1950, when she was hiking with her cousin. Frieda had separated from her cousin to head back to camp to change after getting her clothes wet, but she never returned to the camp. A massive search was mounted by police, volunteers, firemen, and military sought the woman, but nothing turned up until the following May. Her body was found in a field that had been searched extensively in the previous months.

Creepy 'PLANARIAN WORM-LIKE' ENTITY Observed in Store

A grocery store patron observes a dark black mass that is shaped like a Planarian Worm. It was attached to a young woman who may have been under the influence of drugs.

I received the following account:

"Hello. I was at a Korean community grocery store in September 2015. I went to buy some items and as I was approaching the counter to pay, I noticed this twitchy small woman (young in her mid-twenties I'm guessing) but she looked like she was in the DTs in need of a fix. It's a shame really. I thought she would have been pretty if all cleaned up. Well, I still thought she was pretty.

She was asking for matches but she had no money. I made my payment and asked for matches for the lady and it was just then at the corner of my eye I saw a darker-than-dark mass just behind her but taller. I turned my head and looked directly at it. It was moving like iron filings that would shift as you moved a magnet, but not unlike an insect. Its eyes were bright like diamond white and angular like a diamond but on the sides (<> <>). Its head was also pointed and the head and back were not unlike a Planarian Worm. The weird thing as I looked down I saw the lady's arms and legs were wrapped from behind and underneath her appendages and the things body was pressed so close like a piece of clothing or blanket. That's when it moved, like an insert would like a twitch, when it moved so did the lady. Then as I look at its face just above her head like someone peering over someone, just not fully. It turned and looked directly at me.

I have to tell you I knew enough from experience that you do not show fear and remain calm when all you want to do is scream and point and run, which I really wanted to do. I acted like I was looking through it and looked around not caring that I was just seen and almost ran. The clerk handed her the matches and she thanked me then I left. As I left I was looking straight ahead but internally I was concentrating behind me wondering if it was still looking at me. All this time happened in under a minute.

I began wondering what I had seen and drew it once I got home. I showed my siblings a few days later and told them what happened. They claimed it could be a possession or a Djinn. I'm still not sure. But know this, I look at people now differently who are on drugs or under the influence. How they move or walk is exactly like how this creature moves. What if that is true, and part of the reason why they can't stop? You know if you watch Zombie movies like Walking Dead. They kinda move like that too. It's just a weird way they walk, and shuffle.

I haven't seen anything like this before, nor since. Maybe you or your reader might know what the heck I saw? This occurred in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Best Regards. EU"

NOTE: Possibly a possession (maybe a thought-form manifestation or attachment, similar to a poltergeist entity).
