Vicks Vapor Rub, Who Knew?

Last night I learned something new. I put on some Vicks Vapor Rub (I have a cold). One of my three cats, Turtle, was all over me, sniffing it. He couldn’t get enough. Then he threw himself onto the floor, rolling and squirming. It’s exactly how he behaves after smelling catnip. If you’ve never seen a cat on catnip, you have got to witness it to understand. It’s hysterical, like kitty crack. I looked it up on the internet. Apparently, it’s pretty common. The camphor in Vicks and Carmex drives them wild. It isn’t all cats though. My other two don’t react much. The other male just sniffs and the female doesn’t do anything. So, that is your feline lesson for today. Go forth and educate!

Chapter 6 Ho!

Chapter 5 is finished and I’m on to the next. Usually I agonize over every phrase. I’m obviously not doing that this time. Rewrites will bite the big one but I need to hammer out the story first. This book is essentially a rewrite of my first book. The problem is that a lot has changed. Working the story together with all the new elements is harder than writing it from scratch or it seems to be. I’ve got 3 more days off, so I better get back to it.

Yesterday I got stuck pretty bad. I painted myself into a corner with a scene but managed to work it out finally. I’m well into chapter 5 now. Back to it!

Update

I talked to my boss and I still have this week off. *Phew* Chapter 4 is almost finished (about 500 words to go) I should have Chapter 5 started before the day is out. Rollin, rollin, rollin… It was hard to get going yesterday but when I did, it clicked. I’ve been farting around online this morning with marketing and some other things I needed to do. Now I’m off to my little universe. With everyone home, I’ll need the headphones today. Toodles!

Ring of Truth Update

Another 6 1/2 pages so far today. There are about 6 more to finish Chapter 4. I won’t finish today but I’m going to keep working until bedtime.

I’m so mad I could spit. Management where I work decided to change the rules at the last second. My days off this week have been cancelled. I am not allowed to use my vacation time until after Christmas, which is full. Is it a coincidence that this happened after WIP went up because they cut our hours and staffing is low? I seriously doubt it. I love it when ‘Company Policy’ is flexible (for the company, not me). So much for my plans.

8 Days Left

There are only 8 days left of my time off. I’m hoping to get two to three chapters finished in that time. *fingers crossed*

Chapter 4

Chapter 4 is approximately a quarter of the way done. I find myself wondering how long the final book will be; I have no idea. While I’m working on this book, I am also trying to come up with a crime/mystery for the next. I know what I want to do in the personal lives of my characters but no crime yet. Any suggestions? Lil’ Miss Abby is here today and tomorrow, so I won’t get much more done until Thursday. I don’t have to work this weekend, yippee! It’s snowing again. Nothing serious, just the lazy flakes floating out of the sky. It’s pretty. My husband doesn’t think so. Hee-hee.

Yay!

I got my wish! Over a foot of snow! It kind of back-fired on me though. The kids are off school today. The drive home was fun.

My 11 days off begin today. Gotta hit the keys hard. I had my doubts if I would get anything done today. I came downstairs to find my husband watching a Metallica concert at full volume. He said, “The new Metallica album comes out tomorrow. Isn’t that great?” Yeah, wonderful. There’s no way headphones playing Mozart is going to drown THAT out.

Let it Snow!

We are supposed to get dumped on tonight and tomorrow. Okay, dumped is a strong word; only 6 inches accumulation. I’m hoping for more. (My husband will string me up if he reads that.) I love driving in it. Am I warped? Nope, I drive a tank or close to it. It’s fun if you don’t get stuck and sometimes even then. LOL. I work tomorrow and then have 11 days off. It sucks to be me, doesn’t it. What am I going to do? Write, write, write and then I’m going to write some more. I’ll keep you posted.

Chapter 3

Hey everybody! Chapter 3 is done. I didn’t do the rewrites, just notes. That’ll have to get done later, I guess. Lil’ Miss Abby is here tomorrow, so there won’t be much more done this week. I might be able to squeeze in Chapter 4 this weekend, in between work and such.
