9 ways to set goals!

Goals stimulate a person. If it wasn’t for a goal man would have never reached this kind of advancement in science. Goals are absolutely necessary to achieve great things. With proper goal setting one can surely reach his goal.

1)  HOW MUCH, BY WHEN?

Goals must not be vague. Vague goals will give vague results. It should be specific by all means. If you want to lose say 10 pounds you simply can’t say you want to lose, “I want to lose 10 pound”. Instead it should be specific “I am weighing_____ on 10 December, 2013.

2)  A GOAL VERSUS A GOOD IDEA

A good idea is “ I want a Mercedes Benz” but a goal is specific, so it should be, “I love riding , a black Benz by 20, September, 2014”  Good ideas are just wishes, but a goal is very specific.

3)  WRITE IT OUT IN DETAIL

A goal which is not in writing is not a goal, but it is a wish. A goal must be in detail. If you want a house, write: I live in a mansion, surrounded by lakes, with a huge fire place , and with gothic posters…. and my room must overlook the lake, so that every morning I will enjoy the sunrise.

Make the goal as vivid as possible.

4)  YOU NEED GOALS THAT STRETCH YOU

Goals must stretch you. The problem with many of us is that we set very little goals, so once we reach them, we settle. Goals need to build us, as Jim Rohn says, “Get to work on your goal, and eventually the goal will get to work on you.”

5)  CREATE A BREAKTHROUGH GOAL

Besides, all the material, spiritual and relationship goals. One goal must be a breakthrough goal. This goal must be so big that it will change you literally. Like publishing a book, starting your own band or anything for that matter.

6)  REREAD YOUR GOALS THREE TIMES A DAY

If you don’t saturate your mind with success then it is going to very difficult. At least three times a day say your goal out loud if appropriate. Then visualize the outcome.

7)  CREATE A GOALS BOOK

Creating a goals books can be fun. Stick it pictures from magazines and stuff. Make is visual. And check the goal book every morning and every night.

8)      DO IT NOW!

If you set a goal get to work immediately, do not postpone. Just do it. You might not know how you are going to achieve it, but eventually you are going to find answers. So set your goals today.

4 reasons why you shouldn’t be paranoid about success!

Every negative event contains within it the seed

of an equal or greater benefit.

NAPOLEON HILL

We are all prone to this. We all think that someone is against our success. We think others are out there to sabotage our dreams. This is simply a false impression. It is called fear. That is the reason we are afraid to dream more and do more. We simply think the universe is plotting against us. But there are some ways to break it.

1)  HOW DO I USE THIS EXPERIENCE TO MY ADVANTAGE?

This is the most powerful question that you can ask to get rid of paranoia. W. C Clement the author of Success thorough a Positive Mental attitude was considered as an inverse paranoid. He thought everyone in the world was plotting to do him good. What an attitude! If we think that we can really become successful, all the negativity in the world cannot stop us.

2)  LOOK FOR THE OPPORTUNITY IN EVERYTHING

This might look like a common thing, but how many of us do this. Even in the worst situations one must look for the good in life. This is not easy. But sometimes blessings come in disguise. We might be vexed about losing our job, but in fact we can use the opportunity to improve ourselves and get our dream job.

3)  HE SAW THE OPPORTUNITY

Some people see opportunity that others don’t. The author of the chick

en soup series, Jack Canfield was met by his friend Mark Victor. As soon Jack told about the project, Mark wanted to join. He told Jack that he could be a great asset, and he could sell many books for him and he sold many books as well. ( Millions of course.) So look for opportunity every day and every time.

4)  GOD MUST HAVE SOMETHING BETTER IN STORE

Sometimes all the things don’t go according to plan. Sometimes we won’t get the job we desire, or the relationship won’t work out. But always remember that we didn’t get that because there was something better in life. And even the bible says, all things work together for them to love God. Sometimes bad things happen for good reasons. So be up and doing and strive until you win.

I ain’t a chicken, but an eagle!- Dad and daughter story!

Today is Sunday, so I didn’t want to sit and research and write an article. Instead I thought to write about some special people I have met in my life. Well this will follow every Sundays I suppose.

To begin with, I had spent three years in a weird, God forsaken college. I despised the college, but I decided not to be miserable but to take initiative. I was from a convent, so studying English was not much of a problem for me. I assumed everyone taking the course will be like me, but sadly this is not the case. (Yes this is the college I have ironically portrayed in my novel.) My classmates came from poor families and villages. They just choose to study English to become teachers. But this is a sad fact. Those who choose Literature are considered dumb, and utterly hopeless. Even the college, after filling up all the others courses with the top scoring students send the miserable ones to English. It is really pathetic. They think studying English is a silly thing and those students who pursue English do not have analytical reasoning or aptitude. Another misconception of English or any other language for that matter is to label it just as the understanding of stories. This is so not true. We are all stories by the way. To study mankind, we need to study man, that’s why stories are so important.

Anyway, I am not going to defend the greatness of Literature. Perhaps some other time, for now I want to simply tell about this person. You see, my classmates had this big problem. They were not appreciated, they were constantly nagged and they were told that they will never amount to anything. I was shocked by the negative comments of the teachers. A teacher was supposed to build them up, not curse them and label them as useless. However, I decided to do something about the situation. I went up to the HOD and asked her permission to give a small pep talk every day. I knew she will never agree, but ironically accepted. That was the time I was beginning to read Self-help literature, so to learn more and apply the principles, I needed to teach somebody and this was a perfect opportunity for me.

So I was up for the challenge, I began to motivate them.  I said you guys are the best; you can do anything in Life. I slowly began to influence them. And you won’t believe what happened. These melancholy, inactive folks suddenly became proactive. They began to do well in class. I became a very good friend to them.

That was when I understood the power of appreciation. People are ever hungry for it. Sometimes I think we have lost our human touch. Sometimes we are too mechanical. We are afraid to say how we feel. Then they all openly came and told me their stories. Some will make you cry and some stories you won’t believe. But you are the judge.

These stories are the ones I am going to share with you. But you cannot expect a plot line or something; they are just pure feelings that you need to experience. So today I am going to tell about Anbujothi.

Anbujothi was a Pentecostal Christian. She did not wear jewelry of any kind, and certainly she was the most silent student in the class. However, her silence was often misunderstood as a sign of shyness. But that was a very big misunderstanding indeed.

Jeba, a fat boy loved to chat and irritate others. He had decided to irritate Jothi on a particular morning he had called her and said: “Hey how is your sister, can you give this rose to your sister.” Anbujothi face went red. She stared at him and began to bellow. “ You can talk to me as a friend. But giving my sister roses I cannot allow that…”

That was the day everyone knew Anbujothi though silent and petite was not to be taken for granted.

Jothi had lost her dad when she was really young. She had two sisters and four brothers. The loss of her father had greatly disturbed her. Once her father had fought with her mother and gone out of the house. The young girl was devastated. “When her dad returned she asked, “Dad why did you leave me?” and he replied. ‘Oh, will I ever go away from you darling.” But he was gone. He was gone to a place he could never return from. Jothi still remembers her dad, and she is protective of her sisters, but most of all she is full of love and she believes that a loved one never really leaves the world.

If you can relate to her feelings or have any comments, please do comment. Really appreciate it if you share this blog. And you can get my novel to have a good laugh and that book is about these people. Until next week take care.

1-The words and writers who changed the world.- Queen Elizabeth 1

“I know I have but the body of a weak and feeble woman;

But I have the heart of a King, and of a King of England too.”

Queen Elizabeth was considered as an illegitimate child of Henry viii, but she was certainly one of the most influential women in the history of England. In her reign England emerged a powerful nation.

They had an almost unbeatable navy. And it was in her reign that England won the Spanish Armada. The surge of self-confidence under Elizabeth’s reign also led to a dynamic and unprecedented cultural flowering , a golden age of English Literature.

Words have power; this is a speech on the Eve of Facing the Spanish Armada.

“My loving people, we have been persuaded by some, that are careful of our safety, to take heed how we commit ourselves to armed multitudes, for fear of treachery; but I assure you, I do not desire to live to distrust my faithful and loving people. Let tyrants fear; I have always so behaved myself that, under God, I have placed my chiefest strength and safeguard in the loyal hearts and good will of my subjects. And therefore I am come amongst you at this time, not as for my recreation or sport, but being resolved, in the midst and heat of the battle, to live or die amongst you all; to lay down, for my God, and for my kingdom, and for my people, my honor and my blood, even the dust. I know I have but the body of a weak and feeble woman; but I have the heart of a king, and of a king of England, too; and think foul scorn that Parma or Spain, or any prince of Europe, should dare to invade the borders of my realms: to which, rather than any dishonor should grow by me, I myself will take up arms; I myself will be your general, judge, and rewarder of every one of your virtues in the field. I know already, by your forwardness, that you have deserved rewards and crowns; and we do assure you, on the word of a prince, they shall be duly paid you. In the mean my lieutenant general shall be in my stead, than whom never prince commanded a more noble and worthy subject; not doubting by your obedience to my general, by your concord in the camp, and by your valor in the field, we shall shortly have a famous victory over the enemies of my God, of my kingdom, and of my people.

Queen Elizabeth I – 1588

5 Reasons for believing in yourself

[image error]The previous article dealt with belief and how important it is to believe in one self. Believing its possible must always be followed with belief in oneself. If you do not believe in yourself, how can you expect to win or how can you expect others to believe in you. So take heed, no matter who trusts you are not, believe in yourself.

1)     BELIEVING IN YOURSELF IS AN ATTITUDE

Attitude is the most important word in the English language. Milton said it well when he said, “Hell of heaven, and heaven of hell” It is our attitude that makes hell heaven, and heaven hell. If a person has a good attitude then he can change any situation into a positive one. But if the person has a negative attitude he will certainly make mountains out of mole hole. Even believing in oneself is an attitude. And better it is a positive attitude.

2)     THE CHOICE OF WHAT TO BELIEVE IS UP TO YOU

There is always a choice, either a person can choose to go for it, or wait for a miracle to happen. There are many people in history who were told that they cannot achieve anything in life, but they had belief in themselves that they could achieve anything in life and then did it. Edison and Newton were both chucked out of school as they were not very “intelligent” but they decided not to carry on with the attitude of a failure, but to carry out an attitude of success.

3)     YOU HAVE TO GIVE UP “I CAN’T”

Many times we say “I can’t” This actually dis-empowers us. Whenever we say we can’t we are putting a limitation to our abilities. I can’t have money, I can’t study well, I can’t do that and this… blah blah blah… But instead of saying I can’t you can always say I will give it a try. Who knows you might achieve it. So take your chances.

4)     DON’T WASTE YOUR LIFE BELIEVING YOU CAN’T

Some people will live a life of mediocrity. They will go school, then get a job, afterwards get married…and after some years retire then die. This is a normal cycle of life. But then one day you tried cycling, and suddenly you find out that you love cycling, and you regret you haven’t done that for many years. Sometimes we decide not to go after our dreams. But afterwards we will regret it. We believe that we can’t , and then when life is run out, we understand that we  have wasted our life.

5)     WHAT OTHERS THINK ABOUT YOU IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS

Here is the truth, nobody cares about you, or thinks about you. You are simply wasting time. There is a principle called, 18/40/60, i.e at 18 we care about what other people will think. And then at 40 you don’t give a darn about others, and at 60 you realize that nobody thinks about you. So it is none of your business to think about other people. Don’t waste you life thinking about others. Think of your dream and go on…. Believe in yourself.

3 Ways to Believe It’s Possible to win

[image error]Hey folks, how you are all doing? I hope everything is fine, even if it isn’t read on, you will feel a little better I promise.

You have a dream and you have set a goal and you have gone to work on it, but sadly nothing seems to be working. Well that happens to every one of us. The universe is a mystery, no matter how hard you work, but you don’t believe in yourself then nothing is going to work. Doubt is actually nothing but fear. Subconsciously you fear losing. This is common, but this can be overcome.

Sometimes you must just go on with your dream. Sometimes you got to feel the fear and do it.

1)    YOU GET WHAT YOU EXPECT

This is a universal truth. In the book of Job( Bible) Job fears disaster will come upon him, and guess what, it came true. The strongest expressions in your mind are going to come true. You fear something then the thing you fear most will come true, but on the other hand you expect to win, guess again, that is also going to come true. In the Power of Positive Thinking, Norman Vincent Peale, says that no matter how bad or hopeless the situation looks, just expect the best, and not the worst. So today expect for good things to happen, and that is what is going to happen.

2)    YOU GOTTA BELIEVE

People are so critical these days that they are always talk about disaster. Every day we are feed by negative news and it seems people are living in constant fear. Personally, we are all prone to doubt, but we have a choice to believe or doubt. Never give into doubt; you gotta believe that it is possible. Just repeat to yourself, “I believe I am going to _____________” Fill it with whatever you want.

3)    GO FOR IT

Believing without action is like a foot without a joint. Faith and deed go hand in hand. If you say you believe in your dream but you sit before the TV for the whole day chanting I believe, I believe… my friend you are going to be disappointed. If you believe in your dream so strongly, make a plan, and go for it, don’t sit and wait for the right time. Just go for it. Your actions will show how much you have believed in yourself and in your dream. Don’t listen to others. JUST DO IT.

6 Ways to decide what you want.

When your purpose is clear then you must decide what you want in life. Without a definite purpose, it is impossible to do anything in life. Decide, go for it, and preserve is the simple formula for success.

1)    DON’T LIVE SOMEONE ELSE DREAM

From an early age we are conditioned to accept things as they are.  We become engineers because that’s what our parents want us to become. We are never allowed to do what we love. This is the reason why a person lives in mediocrity. There is no passion in the work they do.

2)    STOP SETTLING FOR LESS THAN YOU WANT

As mentioned above, we are not allowed to dream big. You might want to be an international tour guide, but you might settle for a local job. This is the reason deciding on what one wants is of prime importance.

3)    MAKE AN “I WANT” LIST

To decide on what one wants, one must make a “I want” list. This list can contain anything you want. You might want a Mercedes benz, a castle in Scotland, or your own private jet. Just make a list. It really helps.

4)    CLARIFY YOUR VISION OF YOUR IDEAL LIFE

This is just a continuation of the “I want’ list. But clarify your vision. Make it clear. You must know at present where you are so that you can get to where you want to go. Be inspired. What do you want, how much money, level of health, career. Clarify these visions.

5)    HIGH ACHIEVERS HAVE BIGGER VISIONS

We can dream small or we can dream big. And it is all our choice. High achievers have bigger visions. Edison was chucked out of school for being miserable in studies, but he became one of the greatest scientists in the world. So if you dare to dream, go for a bigger dream by all means.

6)    DON’T LET ANYONE TALK YOU OUT OF  YOUR VISION

In the book, Success Principles, Jack Canfield, the renowned author recalls about his friend Monte. His friend Monte was asked to write his dream for his school assignment. And Monte wrote he wanted to own 200 acre of land and have his own ranch. His teacher failed him and explained that his dream was plausible. And the teachers insisted Monte to rewrite his assignment if he is to pass. For which Monte replied, “You can have your F, I will have my dream.” Oh! What an attitude. So folks, don’t let nobody talk you out of your vision.

4 ways to understand your Purpose of Life.

“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.”― Eleanor Roosevelt

“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”
― Ralph Waldo Emerson

You can’t be successful, if you don’t know why you are here. Failing to find the purpose of life can be frustrating. You can be successful in terms of money or other luxuries. But still you will feel empty. This is because of the lack of understanding of your purpose in life.

Even success varies from person to person. For some having a million dollars might be success, and for others taking caring for the family in the best way might be success. So this makes the purpose of everyone unique.

1)      Death Ceremony

The best way to understand the purpose of life is to envision death. Imagining about people who will attend your funeral and what they ought to say is actually what you really want in life.  What do you want your spouse or children to say about you? Teachers?

Colleagues? Friends?

So, thinking about the death ceremony can actually give a blueprint for a wholly life.

2)      Make a List

Yes, just make a wild list of whatever you want to do. From jumping off a cliff, to surfing just make a list, and go do it. Sometimes doing such wild things will give life meaning.

3)      Helping People

Helping others get what they want can help you get what you want. The greatest purpose of life is serving others. No matter what field you are in, help other people, that is the greatest thing you can do.

4)      To live, To learn, To Love, To Leave a Legacy

This can be your motto in life. Stephen Covey 8th habit explains how to live, love, learn and to leave a legacy. However, this can very well be the purpose of every individual. So keep living, learning, loving and leave a legacy.

5 REASONS TO TAKE 100% RESPONSIBILTY

The world is full of pointing fingers. Complaining, excusing, reasoning are the key words at present. Responsibility has become something of a negative word. Nobody takes responsibility, the people blame the government, parents blame the children, and children blame the parents. But in the long run, we are all blaming and complaining each other.

Stephen Covey, in his 7 habits says that we are responsible for the emotions, feelings that torment us. We have a choice, we can stop the blame game or complaining and step out to achieve.

1)      You’ll feel empowered

When a person takes 100% person responsibility for their actions, and emotions they feel free and empowered. Complaining and blaming weakens a person. But taking responsibility will set the person free.

2)      You will feel strong

Taking responsibility will improve the emotional muscles –for instance when a person tries to lie to his teacher, he feels ashamed. But having the courage to say that he hasn’t done the work will surely make him feel strong.

3)      Nobody can hurt the person

If you have been in a relationship for quite some time you will understand that getting hurt is part of the relationship. But one should not be governed by their emotions. By taking responsibility, all the old hurt, ego vanishes.

4)       Successful life:

By taking 100% responsibly the most wonderful benefit is success. Of course success involves many other factors. But taking 100% responsibility will throw away all the lame excuse of abused childhood, colour, race, and all the other factors people often point to when asked for the reasons of their failure.

5)      Legacy

What if, Lincoln complained about his poverty and lack of education and what if Edison accepted his teachers remark that he was dumb? No, they didn’t. Despite their problems, they took responsibility and they had achieved. So take responsibility this very day.

Sometimes you might feel great. You might be doing amazingly well for a week with your commitment, or even for a month. But then you slack off, you get in a rut, and before you know it, you are doing the same old things.

Well how to get out of this rut?

Step 1

Listen to Switchfoot, Dare you to move, or Justin Beiber’s Never Say never.

Music has this incredible power to bring hope immediately.

Step 2

Listen to any motivation speech’s. Ex.  Zig Ziglar, Les Brown. Anthony Robbins.

Step 3

Self Talk to yourself that you can do and you are the best.
