#Walking on Sunshine Blog Hop Party. Ailsa Abraham.
Hi all:
Hugh Roberts fromHughs Views and Newsis hosting a blog hop party. Its wonderful to be able to invite you all to enjoy the promised sunshine now that Spring has arrived. I was invited to join by Lord David Prosser himself, a great blogger, a generous man, and an envoi to the Queen (don’t miss his books to learn more).
I had great problems choosing only one blogger and was tempted to invite many, although suspect we’re all bound to be inviting each other, and as I was thinking, I read a post by Ailsa Abraham, a great author, a witty blogger (The Bingergread Cottage, a must read, recently with great interviews), an otter with a very peculiar style, honest to a fault, and who can make you laugh and a second later have you in tears. And, who I recently discovered has a beautiful voice too. And I though, yes, who wouldn’t want Ailsa in a party!

Ailsa Abraham
Here what she says about herself in her page:
From my home in rural France, the little village under the mountain, an hour from everywhere, Ill be updating you on my writing, quirky things that happen here and welcoming other authors into the Bingergread Cottage. Its called that because its an upside-down house (more space up than down) and so the reverse of the usual witchs dwelling.
Dip into the liquorice all-sorts box and see what you come up with. Shamanism, healing, writing or any of my other varied interests? Youll probably get to meet my hounds, Titch and Lily and the Old Feller himself, The Ancient Mariner. Dont forget to come back regularly to check for competitions, special offers, free short stories and work in progress.
If you are wonderingwhy the otters? Well they are one of my totem animals and my Shaman name is Otter, Ottie to my friends. Watch out for lots of pictures of them in this blog.
And her two books:

Shaman’s Drum by Ailsa Abraham

Alchemy by Ailsa Abraham
Here is her page in Amazon.

Hi all:
Today I couldn’t resist taking part in this blog tour. As you know I’m working on a YA/NA series myself and I’m trying to submerge myself in the ins and outs of this world, and the setting of this novel made it irresistible for me. Salem…Yes, that Salem. I include my own review, don’t miss the giveaway, and also the playlist. I was intrigued by having a playlist added so…

Enjoy Happy Geek Media’s debut tour of Come, the Dark, Book 2, in the Forever Girl series.

Come, the Dark, Book 2 of the Forever Girl Series

Rebecca Hamilton
Genres: Fantasy, Fiction, Historical, New Adult, Paranormal, Romance

Rose desperately wants to escape the abuse of the father who impregnated her and the dark spirits that haunt her life. Being thrust from Georgia 1961 into the era of Salems infamous witch trials isnt what she had in mind, and now her daughter is left hopelessly out of reach.
The only way to return to her daughter is by facing certain death to banish the dark spirits that plague Salem. If she doesnt eliminate these dark spirits in time, they will destroy civilization and trap her in this strange new place, ages away from her daughter.
Even if she can complete the task in time to return home to save her daughter, theres still one problem: shes falling in love with a man who cant return with her. Achieving her goals will force her to choose between the only man who has never betrayed her and a daughter she cant quite remember but will never forget.
A heart-wrenching tale of a mothers love for her daughter, this romantic paranormal fantasy underlines the depravity of both historical and modern society while capturing the essence of sacrifice and devotion.

Now myreview:
Come, the Dark. (Forever Girl, Book 2) Rebecca Hamilton. A reluctant heroine that eventually kicks ass
I must confess I havent read the first book in the Forever Girl series but decided to take part in the blog tour and review the book because at the moment Im particularly interested in Young Adult/New Adult Books, I was intrigued by the background to the story (with the setting in Salem at the time of the witch hunts), and the premise of the book sounded intriguing.
The book begins with a bang. Roses family situation is terrible and the events that take place in the first chapter show her as a girl whos suffered greatly and who seems to have some paranormal abilities (she sees things, or rather creatures, that others dont). When shes suddenly transported to a different historical period and wakes up as a different person, one of the advantages of the book being narrated in first person is that you experience her confusion and puzzlement with her.
Abigail (the person she is now) lives in Salem in difficult times. I felt the setting of the story could have been used to more advantage as the main character seems to come and go (and at some point is locked up) there, but has very limited interactions with the town and the trials. When she comes into contact with some true horrors, the paranormal background and underlying plot of the story seems to reinterpret the actual events and only a comment at the end puts this to rights. There are situations where reality puts fiction to shame.
Rose/Abigail/Cordovae is one of the most reluctant heroes (heroines) Ive met. She struggles with her new role and powers/obligations bestowed upon her, insisting she wants to go back to the person she was because her daughter, Anna, needs her. William and Tess, who act as guides and try and bring her up to speed with the universe she lives in (not only the human one, but mostly the paranormal and the variety of creatures and the cosmogony that explains them) try to convince her, but she resists. Although the explanations are a useful way of introducing readers who are new to the series, I felt they slowed the action somewhat and I was not sure I could really grasp the differences between all the supernatural races. (But then, neither does the protagonist, who learns as she goes along.)
It took me a while to connect with the main character and I grew somewhat impatient of her reluctance to engage. Also at times the first person narration meant we spent a long time reading about her doubts, her memories, and her determination to leave. However, although it is somewhat long in the coming, eventually Cord becomes a true heroine, selfless, brave, intuitive, and a great fighter, and you cant help but root for her. As I mention in the title, she does kick ass indeed. The battle scenes, although not described in gore detail are imaginative and vivid, with some very visual and beautiful touches. They would be very spectacular if adapted to the screen.
The twist at the end is satisfying and to me it is a fairly happy ending, given the circumstances. Although I havent mentioned it until now, theres a love story too (both protagonists try and resist for very good reasons) and all loose ends are tied up for the current story, whilst leaving open the possibility of further explorations into the world of the forever girls.
Overall I felt the book has some ups and downs, but it gains pace in the second half when it becomes a very good read. The premise of the series is intriguing and I suspect there are a few more to come. If you like YA paranormal series with strong heroines and some very dark elements, youd do well checking out this novel.

Recomendaciones y reseas.

Reviews and recommendations: ‘The Contract’ and ‘See You in Hell’
Hi all:
You’ll remember a couple of weeks ago I published a post on reviews (by the way, many thanks for all the comments. It was one of the most dynamic posts I’ve published and I enjoyed the discussion it created). As I mentioned, apart from just reading for the blog and posting the reviews in a variety of sites, I do reviews for BTS e-magazine (click on the widget at the bottom of the post to go to the current number if you enjoy reading about new books and checking reviews) and although the actual reviews belong to the magazine, I like to share some of the books if I think you might enjoy them.
I’ve read some pretty heavy books recently and I don’t know you, but I like to combine light reads with heavier stuff. I reviewed these two books for the magazine, both by female authors, that I enjoyed and were like a breath of fresh air. I’ll give you a taster and you can see what you think:

The Contract by Violet Ryan
The Contract by Violet L. Ryan
Orphaned Grace Barnett receives many proposals because her property has a dependable year-round water supply. She agrees to marry Jacob Cooper, the stranger from the ranch next door who claims hell never fall in love. Theyll have only a straightforward contract.
Jilted two years before, Jake doesnt trust women. He wants water rights, heirs, and a peaceful home. He expects the boyish girl next door to provide these without the messiness of emotions. When he sees her walk down the aisle, dressed as a woman, clean, and lovely, an inner struggle begins. Two strangers learning to live together in a house filled with emotional conflict and family intrigue will test their ability to cope and hinder chances to fall in love.

One paragraph from my review to give you an idea of what I thought:
With arch-villains, scheming ex-loves and relatives, handsome cowboys, formidable women, sexy Native-Americans and plenty of action, what the characters lack in psychological depth and consistency, they make up for in the sheer variety of misunderstandings and adventures they get involved in.
It reminded me of ‘The Little House of the Prairie’ and it made me smile.
I loved the heroine who is innocent but resourceful and I think you’ll like her too. And the rest of the characters added to the mix.
The author has written quite a few books and she sounds like someone I’d like to meet. Just check her page here:

On quite a different note, setting and everything, but again written by another formidable female author (Australian in this case), I read:

See You in Hell (Mel Goes to Hell Series Book 2) by Demelza Carlton
See You In Hell (Mel Goes to Hell. Book 2)
A devilishly hot CEO. The angelic new office temp. A match made in Heaven or Hell?
Melody Angel takes a job as a temp at the HELL Corporation. Surrounded by eternal bureaucracy gone mad, demons who love making life miserable, and dying for a decent coffee, it may take a miracle for Mel’s mission to succeed. She must find out what evil plans Lucifer and his minions have in store and stop them, using any means necessary.
Adding trouble and temptation to Mel’s job is Luce Iblis, the damnably hot CEO, who has set his smouldering eyes on the new office angel and he’s determined to claim her, body and soul.
Can ultimate evil and angelic perfection escape a limbo of desire and find a paradise of their own?
A tiny taste of what’s in store:
“Do you know how long you’ve made me wait?” Luce lifted his chin. “Close the door.”
Mel turned and kicked the door shut with the sole of one shoe. The click of it closing coincided with her eyes meeting Luce’s once more.
“Now strip and get your arse on the desk,” Luce instructed.
Mel stared at him. He couldn’t be serious, could he?
“Every other girl in this building knows how to do as she’s told. Do you know how many girls I’ve had on this desk? You should consider yourself lucky. The last one I had in here was so quick getting undressed that I managed to give her a full fifteen minutes of my time. At this rate, you’ll be lucky to have five.”
Mel became transfixed by the timber desktop. “Did you wipe it clean afterwards?”
“What?” Luce’s face reddened.
Mel Goes to Hell series
This is the second book in the Mel Goes to Hell series, which includes:
Welcome to Hell (#1) – FREE
See You in Hell (#2)
Mel Goes to Hell (#3)
To Hell and Back (#4)
The Holiday From Hell (#5) (to be released 26 March 2015)
Melody Angel’s Guide to Heaven and Hell.

This book I must tell you I thoroughly enjoyed. Despite what you might think, it is not erotica (it’s not high in my list of priorities and unless I’m really interested in the book I’ll avoid books where that’s the main focus) and no descriptive sex, although it is sexy (but you might disagree). What I don’t think you’ll disagree on is that it’s a good read and fun.
This is the beginning of my review:
If like me, youve also imagined hell as a bureaucratic nightmare where political correctness and paperwork are masters and your boss is Lucifer himself, you should read this novel. Imagine a world where Hell is in charge of most branches of the public sector.
There is romance, a fantastic angel at the centre of the book, and the cast of characters reminded me of Greek gods, as angels and demons are very human and recognisable, and by the end of it…Oh well, you go on and read it.
And, extremely good news. If you want to try the first short story in the series, this one is free:

Welcome to Hell (Mel Goes To Hell Book 1) by Demelza Carlton
Welcome to Hell (Mel Goes to Hell Book 1)
“Good morning. Welcome to HELL.”
Mel hates job interviews – and this one’s shaping up to be the interview from Hell.
From the grumpy receptionist to the disturbingly demonic interview panel and the sleazy CEO, it seems landing her first job is the least of Mel’s worries.
Can she make it out of the office alive without selling her soul?
A tiny taste of what’s in store:
Lilith opened the door, waiting for Mel to leave first. Mel did so, almost running into a man in a dark suit.
His coffee splashed high, yet he caught most of it in his cup. Not a spot landed on Mel – just one on the man’s shoe. “Damn,” he swore, swiping at it with a black handkerchief that appeared almost instantly in his hand. As he rose from his crouch, he took in Mel’s attire, from her toes to her raised eyebrows.
He summoned a smile that clashed with the stormy expression in his eyes. “I don’t believe I’ve seen you in the office before and I make it a point to know all of my staff intimately.” He handed the dripping cup to Mel’s haughty interviewer, who took it without a murmur, even as some of the coffee slopped onto Lilith’s shoes.
He held out his hand to shake Mel’s. “Luce Iblis, CEO of the HELL Corporation.”
Mel gave him her fingers, in such a way that he couldn’t crush them in his firm handshake.
“I’m Mel,” she began.
“This is her first time here. She’s being interviewed for a position here at Health, Environment, Life and Lands Corporation – as my executive officer,” Lilith said.
Luce’s eyes stared hungrily at Mel as she lowered her gaze. “Is that so? I suspect I’ll be seeing a lot more of you very soon, then. I look forward to welcoming you to HELL.”

When I finished the previous one I wanted to start reading this one but unfortunately my Kindle hadn’t downloaded it properly (only to the Cloud) and I had no connection where I was at the time. And then I started reading another book so… But I must say I found the other one therapeutic.

Ladrones de Almas I

I prepare my posts a few days in advance when I can, and on the same week when the post was due to come out I read one by Christoph about his new book.

In Search of a Revolution by Christoph Fischer. Out on 26th March
In Search of the Revolutionis currently available in preorder here.
In 1918 young Zacharias Nielsen boards a ship in Copenhagen to join the Red Guards in the Finnish Civil War.Encouraged by an idolised teacher with communist leanings, he follows the call for help from his Nordic Comrades, despite his privileged background.
His best friend, Ansgar, has opposing political ideals to Zacharias but, for his own personal reasons, finds himself soon stuck in the Scandinavian North with Zacharias and Raisa, a Finnish nurse who helps them in their new life.
Through the years that follow the brotherly war the trio see the political landscape in Finland and Europe change as Communists and Fascists try to make their mark and attempt to change the world order.
Our heroes must find their own personal and ideological place in these turbulent times as friendship, honour, idealism and love triangles bring out some personal truths.
The book spans almost thirty years of history and the various Finnish conflicts: Civil War, Winter War, Continuation War and the Lapland War. Watch the political and personal self discovery of characters in search of their own revolution.
Just in case you want more information on the book, including an excerpt, I leave you the link to Christoph’s post. And if you don’t know his blog, I recommend it. Cul es vuestra Alaska?
Hola a todos:

Denali. Mt.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alaska

The Alaska Organisation (Expert Travel Advice from Alaskans)

What’s Your Alaska?
Hi all:

Denali. Mt. McKinley from Wikipedia
As you know my posts are a bit…whatever. I know the title of today’s it’s a bit weird, but let me explain.
This year (early May, to be precise) it’s a big birthday for me. OK, OK, I’m going to be 50. No big secret. I’ve been saying for a while that I wanted to do something a bit special. Not a party (I don’t mind parties but in general I prefer to meet with a few friends or even have chats with people in a relaxed atmosphere and not keen on organising anything big at this moment), but I fancied a biggish trip. I don’t know why I got fixated on Alaska. It’s always been an attractive place for me. I imagine movies, adventure books, and the ring of it, the variety of climates, the sheer scale of the place, the many activities, and the outstanding beauty…
Here if you want to read more about it in Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alaska
I’m sharing some pictures on Wikipedia in this post and I’ll share some other links that I found interesting too.
Due to personal circumstances some of you who read my blog regularly will be aware of, I don’t think I’ll manage to make the trip this year (I wasn’t necessarily planning to do it on the date of my birthday but at a more convenient time, as with Alaska I think planning the right time for the trip is all important). If any of you have visited or has any specific tips or sites they use to plan their trips, I’d be very grateful, as I intend to do the trip, even if it might be next year….

Augustine Volcano
The question at the top of the blog refer to what’s your Alaska? in the sense of, what’s that think that you’ve been thinking about doing for a while, the top of your bucket list, or simply something that you’ve always saved for some better time to do? For quite a while I wanted to jump off a plane in a parachute, although I did that quite a few years back (and I loved it! No, not in tandem, by myself, although of course you have to do a course, etc, etc…). Alaska is not the only place in my list of places where I want to go. Like my list of TBR books, that’s quite long but…

Did you realise it was quite this big?
So go on, tell me, what’s your Alaska?
As promised, I leave you a couple more links about Alaska that look very good (and it’s a way of having them handy for when I get down to planning the trip in more detail):
The Official State of Alaska Vacation and Travel Information (This one has beautiful pictures. Don’t miss them)
The Alaska Organisation (Expert Travel Advice from Alaskans)

Forget-Me-Not the State flower
Because this is me, and for somewhat evident but bizarre reasons, the post made me think of a singer whose real name is Olvido (Forgetfulness) but has always been known as…yes, you’ve guessed,Alaska. So here a couple of her songs from quite a few years back, that I love. Very eighties. Ah, ladies, if yo check the second one for the cover of the record (that now I have in CD, of course), you’ll see another reason why I love this album:
(How could you do that to me?)
From the same album: Deseo Carnal: Un hombre de verdad (A Real Man)
Thanks to all for reading, watching, and remember to pass any tips on travels that you might have, and comment, share, like and CLICK if you fancy!

I’ve read this year they had to move further North because it was too warm.

Hi all:
My blogger friend Teagan Geneviene alerted me to the Sexy Saturday blog hop a while back, and although I joined the Facebook group and I’ve been following with interest I hadn’t got myself organised enough to post. But when I saw the sign-up list and the mention of kisses, I thought maybe I could share a few sentences of my WIP, the third book on my series Angelic Business (Angelic Business 3: Pink, Angel or Demon?)
This is my entry:
And then he leaned towards me and kissed me. And although I didnt hear bells ringing and saw no fireworks, it was amazing. It was crazy, it was messed up, wrong, he wasnt my type. For crying out loud! He wasnt even a human being! But still, I didnt want it to end. And we might still have been there now if it wasnt because Jackson started coughing behind us, evidently to alert us to his presence.
