Throwback Thursday! We’re All Gonna Die!

(02/16/13) “We’re all gonna die!” It seemed very funny to shout that during a fire drill my freshman year at Cicero High School. It was still funny to my friend John Martin and I after we realized our only consequence would be a stern talking to by the principal. Yes, when confronted I dragged my friend into it. He dared me to, I said.

What happened was that in the midst of 2000 students being evacuated from our high school I turned to my friend John and said, Do you dare me to yell “We’re a...

Top Ten Tuesday! Ten Things That Are Better Than Ezra

Yes, I realize that this would have been so much funnier had I done it 20 years ago, but it just occurred to me today. In the 90’s though there may not have been a better song than their song Good. So, without further explanation, here are Ten Things That Are Better Than Ezra:

10: Ezra’s older brother Chuck: Chuck was the big athlete, homecoming king and seemed to have a gift with the ladies while Ezra stayed home practicing his guitar.

9. Zima: Both Zima and the song Good came out in 1993....

Facebook, or FaceCrook?

Clever title, right? Take that Mark Zuckerberg you evil twerp. Based on that last sentence and my title I’m pretty sure that the Facebook algorithm will find a way to bury this post waaaay down people’s timelines.

We’re all doing it. Sometimes we do it in the privacy of our own home. Sometimes we do it in our cars, sometimes we even do it at work. It takes only a few minutes if you’re good at it. We “Facebook”.

‘Facebook’ has become a verb. The grandfather, or maybe I should say Godfather of...

TBT! If We We’re Having Coffee I’d Probably Want To Punch You

(02/28/15) On Saturdays many people post a “If we were having coffee…'” post as if they’re telling you what they would tell you if  you had coffee with them. This is my “If we were having a beer…” sarcastic version of that after a really annoying week.

The Dress: Seriously? Why did the whole world spend all of Thursday staring at a picture of this dress on the internet? Is it blue and black or gold and white? Who cares?!!? Idiots! I’m doing internet research to find out what company makes th...

Top Ten Tuesday! Top Ten Rejected Candy Heart Sayings

You know those chalky candy hearts that for the better part of a century have been shared on Valentine’s Day? They’re so cute with their little candy inscriptions of “I love you” or “Hugs” or other nonsense. I imagine though that there were some ideas that didn’t make it.

10.  It’s not you, it’s me

9. Not a cold sore

8. Maybe Next Time

7. Better late than never

6. It’s eczema. Yes, there.  I swear.

Music Monday! Sweet Disaster by Dreamers

I love this song. I love the sound and the lyrics. I also love that throughout the song they reference several other bands. I think it’s cool when a band tips their cap to their predecessors in a song. The old school video game graphics make this video a fun watch and listen. If you’re seizure prone I would caution you about visiting Dreamers website.

If you can survive the flashing graphics on their site, it’s interesting. They have issued a manifesto and have a form where you can join the...

The Big Pickup People

The title can be interpreted two ways. This could be about large people who like to go to bars and find companionship for a night, or it could be about people that have idiotically large pickup trucks. For most of the second group I’ll have to speak slowly and put the sarcasm in italics so they understand when they’re being made fun of.

Yes, you know who you are. You’re one of the big pickup people, aren’t you? But which kind? There are two types of big pickup people:

1) the ones that live o...

Fifty Shades of …

I am absolutely outraged! Just because I’m a small time author, some big movie company thinks they can steal my title, change a word and pretend it’s their idea. My Fifty Shades of Phil book came out in June 2013, so obviously I had the idea first. I’m considering legal action.

Because of this weeks movie opening of Fifty Shades Darker I thought I’d capitalize on all the people searching the web for info using the phrase #FiftyShades by putting my book on sale Many people may visit my site...
