Music Monday! Judah & the Lion

This song by Judah & the Lion has been on the radio about 6 months. At first I wasn’t sure what I thought about it, but it’s grown on me. It’s different and catchy. The foursome from Nashville, Tennessee broke onto the scene in 2013, but no one seems to be able to settle on what category of music they fit into. They’ve got their own unique sound that is a mix of bluegrass, folk, and alternative rock.

Have a great Monday! ~Phil

Do You Smell Like A Sociopath?

I do. I smell exactly like a sociopath, and you might too.

One line in and I’ve got you wondering, what type of odor do sociopaths give off, and why does Phil smell like one? That’s exactly what I want you to be thinking, because I’m a sociopath and I enjoy manipulating people.

So how exactly do sociopaths smell? Mostly like Axe body spray. Just kidding of course. Only a sociopath like me would slander a popular product and the millions of Tap Out t-shirt wearing, man-bun having guys who us...

Indie Author Friday: Aloada Bobbins (Haylee Alexandra)

Most of you know her as Aloada Bobbins, but her real name is Haylee Alexandra and in case you missed it, she published her first book Tiny Tales and (very) short stories: A collection of Six Word Fiction last July.

It’s a cute and whimsical collection of six word stores that spring from one word prompts with waggish illustrations intended for a young or young at heart audience. Being one that is challenged by word or character limits I certainly appreciate Haylee’s brilliant gift of brevity....

I’ll NEVER BE LIKE MY PARENTS

Hey everybody, I found a new, funny blogger and I was his first follower this morning. Let’s give a warm welcome to Darryl Callahan! Go read and follow him

Darryl Callahan Media

Remember when you were a kid and your parents gave you crap for something, grounded you, punished you, smacked you, and you thought your parents were the worst parents ever. Growing up did you ever tell yourself “I’ll never be like my parents.” Now that you’re a parent or maybe just an adult now do you find yourself...

Throwback Thursday! Retirement Advice for President Obama

I was apparently ahead of my time when I wrote this three years ago. There’s some funny references in here that were more pop culture relevant in 2014.

03/01/2014) This week all the news programs aired a video of our President and Vice-President jogging around inside the White House in their shirts and ties. The idea of the video is to support Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” initiative to fight obesity in the U.S. It’s ironic that to reduce obesity she wants us to sit down to watch a video.

Music Monday! Catfish and the Bottlemen

I’ll be seeing these guys as the open for Green Day tonight! They’re from the U.K. originating in Wales actually. Last year they won the Brit Award for best British Breakthrough. Catfish and the Bottlemen were founded in April 2007, when Ryan Evan “Van” McCann and Billy Bibby began playing guitar together at Billy’s parents home, a bed & breakfast in Llandudno, Wales. They promoted themselves by by playing in parking lots outside other artist’s gigs, including bands such as Kasabian.

Me and Billie Joe Armstrong

This isn’t quite Janis Joplin‘s Me and Bobby McGee. Depending on when you were born, you may not even know that song reference. Just to be clear, I’m also not old enough to remember that song on the radio. When I was very young my dad would just sit down with his guitar and sing songs. Most of it was country music. My dad wasn’t a cowboy, he was a straight ahead, square, suburban dad with a 9 to 5 job. There was nothing country about him, except his love of countr...
