Throwback Thursdays! Female Bodies (6/11/05)
I work in an office. I work with a lot of women. That is generally not a bad thing. Often I happen to be the only guy in the office with about 8 women. That can be a bad thing. I have to say, I’m a big fan of female bodies. Maybe one of the biggest. What I have discovered, however, is that when men aren’t around women are waaaaay too comfortable talking about their bodies and the various functions of them. Apparently if a man leaves the room, women immediately begin talking about their biolog...

North by North West
When Kim and Kanye Kardashian saddled their new child with the name North this week it gave me an idea. I’m going to become a lawyer and move to Hollywood. “But Phil, why would you quit your lucrative blogging career?” Thanks for asking, I’m going to tell you. I believe that being a lawyer in Hollywood will be a very financially sound career move in about 15 years. “But Phil, aren’t there already millions of sleazy lawyers in Hollywood? How would you be different?” My but you’re the curious o...

Cover Reveal: Fifty Shades of Phil
Throughout history many great religions have been centered around sacred texts containing beliefs and doctrines. The Bible. the Talmud, the Koran, the Torah, Book of Mormon, and Dianetics are included in this illustrious list. This book, Fifty Shades of Phil, is funnier than them all. Fifty Shades of Phil is a sarcastic, and sometimes ego-centric, look at the first decade of 21st century American pop-culture through the eyes the self-proclaimed Grand Poobah of Leisure and author of the hilari...

Throwback Thursdays: Celine is French for Satan (Sept. 5, 2005)
I like this post from Sept. 5, 2005 because it’s kind of newsy and I still hadn’t mastered the use of the multiple paragraph form in my blogging.
*WARNING* The following may contain material that is offensive to Celine Dion fans and Canadians (not that there’s a difference). Yes, I agree that the results of Hurricane Katrina have been tragic. On that point Celine Dion and I agree. After that point, however, I believe that Celine and I would come to fisticuffs. And believe me, Celine would be i...

Meet the Author: Christopher Moore (yes, that Christopher Moore)

For those of you who may not be familiar with Christopher Moore’s work he is the author of thirteen published novels and a graphic novel. Whether the genre be suspense, fantasy or the skewering of the vampire craze, you can always add the word humor in front of anything Christopher Moore writes. Christopher Moore is also one of the most fan friendly authors you’ll ever meet and if I’v...

Candy Crush Intervention
Like Angry Birds and Words with Friends another game designed for the tiny screen of our phones and the tiny span of our attention has seemingly captivated millions of people who would otherwise have productive lives. I was thinking of naming this post “10 Ways to Beat Candy Crush Saga” because I knew that as soon as that title showed up in Google searches I’d get about a billion hits. That would be a cruel joke to play on the millions of Candy Crush addicts.
I’m here today however to address...

Throwback Thursdays! Color Blind (7/21/05)
It’s funny to look back on my blog posts from the early days. Apparently in 2005 I hadn’t yet become familiar with that complex literary device referred to as the paragraph. The following paragraph below is a post titled Color Blindthat I blogged on July 21, 2005 when The Phil Factor was barely 3 months old.
You know how they say that people see in color but dogs see in black and white? I’m not sure who “they” are, but if this is true, I have a whole other level to add to this theory. A sort o...

Books for Children
Reblogged from Say What? Savannah Mae:
I got this amazing idea while reading The Treasures of Destiny by Laurie Harman Wilson. My idea has now become a vision. The only way I can make this vision come to life is with your help!
I am reaching out to the public to get this going! Here is how WE are going to make this happen:
You purchase a specific children's title from Amazon.com that I post and have it mailed to me as a gift.
This is a great idea and a worthy cause. Giv...

Reviewers are a Readers Best Friend: 9 Indie Book Review Sites
Usually on Tuesdays I try to introduce you to one of the great indie authors I’ve become acquainted with. Today I’m doing something a little different. Since I published the first edition of my novel #WhitePicketPrisons last Fall I’ve become acquainted with several book reviewers and book review sites. For those of you reading books by big name authors and publishing houses you’re still paying $9.99 and up for the books you download to your Kindle or Nook. The fantastic little secret I learne...
