To Beat The Devil: Author Interview with M.K. Gibson!

51O7h-lESgL

An author friend who has a small independent publishing company recently asked me to read and review a recently published first novel by a new author. Admittedly I was a little leery. I’m very picky about what I read. I’ve started and stopped three different novels over the last several months because I didn’t enjoy them. My friend told me a little about the plot and I agreed to try To Beat the Devil by M.K. Gibson. Remember those three novels I never finished? I flew through To Beat the Dev...

Being John Malkovich the Thief

imdb.com This is NOT me.

imdb.com This is NOT me.

Yes, I’m calling out for stealing ideas from my blog. What a jerk. In a post I wrote two years agoI outlined how I’ve written and scheduled Facebook, Twitter, and blog posts to last until well after I’ve passed. (Don’t worry. I’m never really going to die. I’ve got that covered. Or I may be dead already. This could be one of those pre-scheduled posts) Now John Malkovich is essentially doing the same thing, but with a movie.

Earlier this week John Malkov...

TBT! I Vie, You Vie, We All Vie for Wi-Fi!

yaelah.co

yaelah.co

(05/09/15) That’s the dream isn’t it? Free wi-fi 24/7, everywhere we go! The idea for this post came from a thought of mine last week. Yup, I had one. Hard to believe, I know, but sometimes I do. I thought to myself, what would I sacrifice to have free, 24/7 wi-fi everywhere I go? Has anyone else had this thought?

I thought that I could give up the pinky toe on my left foot for free lifetime wi-fi. I briefly thought I might let doctors implant a tiny wi-fi router somewhere in my bod...

Top Ten Tuesday! The Ten Worst Tattoos You Can Get

25-of-the-worst-tattoos-of-celebrity-faces

I know I look squeaky clean and about as cool as most sit-com dads, but I do like tattoos. I have a few myself and so do others in my family. When choosing a tattoo, my philosophy is that you should choose wisely because you are, for the most part, stuck with that on your body forever more. Some people aren’t so picky though. Based on seeing others, these are my top ten worst possible tattoo choices. In the comments, tell me what your ideas are.

Skinheads of The Caribbean!

DSC07771 - Copy

Since I’m still on my Disney World trip, I found this post from my 2005 trip to Disney World. It may be an ancient post, but if you haven’t read it, it’s new to you. Hopefully I’ll have more good stories from the trip for next week.

(May, 22, 2005)For the most part I enjoyed all the rides at Disney World and most of the people who rode them with me and my family were well behaved and considerate. I was a little disturbed by the 40-ish woman who went on Splash Mountain alone, sat next to me,...

Throwback Thursday! The Drunk That Saved Pittsburgh

wonka

I pulled this post out of the archives to celebrate the fact that me and Mrs. Phil are heading to Disney World without the kids today. Tomorrow we will be eating and drinking our way through every country in the Epcot section of Disney World. This post is a classic from my first trip to Disney with my kids eleven years ago.

(May 22, 2005)The first and most enduring memory of my trip to Disney World is of the shuttle bus ride from the Orlando airport to the hotel. Prior to my trip I had thou...

Top Ten Tuesday! Top Ten Possible Donald Trump Vice President Candidates

It appears that Donald Trump will win the Republican nomination for President. In the United States this is big news and the subject of much debate and consternation. I’d be curious what my friends from other countries have heard and think about this. Let’s try to pick a suitable vice-presidential candidate for him. Here are some possibilities and their pros and cons

Pop Culture Commando

How do you like the title? I’m thinking of starting a second blog with that title just to make fun of the famous. What do you think? Should I do another blog dedicated to weekly mockery of those who live a lifestyle most of us can’t comprehend? Or maybe a weekly feature? Anyway, here’s this weeks installment of Pop Culture Commando:

TBT! The Man with the Scorpion Tattoo

grey-ink-scorpio-tattoo-on-head

This is a classic Phil Factor from 2011 but is still one of my wife’s favorites.

No, this is not a male version of the popular novel The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. This is much better than that. It’s my blog where I make fun of stuff. I’m pretty sure nobody had very many laughs reading that dragon tattoo book. The Man with the Scorpion Tattoo also is not a fictional character. The Man with the Scorpion Tattoo is a guy I see at my Starbuck’s almost every morning. To be fair, it’s not really...
