Thursday Doors!
All over the WordPress universe every Thursday, people post pictures of doors. This tradition is the brainchild of Norm of Norm 2.0. I’ve never participated in it before because I do Throwback Thursdays, but a little part of me has always wanted to be a part of the zeitgeist that Norm created that dominates the Thursday posts. This past week I came across a couple good door pictures from my trip to Barcelona five years ago. So for the first time ever, here’s my contribution to Thursday Doors:...
Throwback Thursday! These Glutes Are Made For Walking!
If you haven’t read it before, it’s new to you!
(06/13/15) That cartoon above will be me one day. My favorite post every three months is this one. Since I started doing this two years ago I’ve seen others do it too. I’d like to take credit for being the first. You’re welcome. If you come from outside the blogiverse to read this, what I’m talking about is the fact that in our control panel we get to see what search terms people type into Google that bring them to our blogs. So uh, yeah, you m...

Top Ten Tuesday! The Ten Best Books I’ve Ever Read. What Are Yours?
Like the title says, these are the ten best books thatIhave ever read. They’re my favorites. Yours may be different. In fact, I’m hoping they are. Either in the comments or, in your own blog post with a link back, I’d like you to share some of your favorite books so that we can all maybe find a new favorite book or author from each other. Of course I won’t shamelessly plug my own books by putting them on my list, but if you want to, I won’t argue.

Music Monday! Motion City Soundtrack
I love this band and on Saturday my son and I are going to Philadelphia to see Motion City Soundtrack on their final tour. One of my favorite parts of every show is that at some point during the show lead singer Justin Pierre turns around and takes a panoramic selfie with the audience behind him and later posts it on Facebook and Instagram. It’s always fun to try and pick yourself out.
Unlike so many of the bands of our childhood who have all had several retirement tours, I believe this ban...

Ground Control to Major Tom: Celebs in Space?

Billionaire owner of Virgin Galactic, Richard Branson, has sold tickets, at $200,00 each to several celebrities for a ride into space. $200,00 for a trip into space doesn’t sound bad, until you consider that it’s the cost for only fifteen minutes in space. That’s like paying to go to the movies, which is close to $200,000, and only getting to see the previews! If I’m paying $200,000 to go into space, first you all are going to have to buy a lot more of my books...

Author Interview: Danielle Wilkinson Steiner!
Now this is an interview I’m really excited about, although truth be told, I’m a little disappointed that I can’t interview the main character of the book. Nina Puppalina is real and has the best dog name ever, which is perfect because she is a dog. Her owner and the author of the story of Nina Puppalina and her erstwhile human companion Lizzy Lou, is Danielle Wilkinson Steiner.
TPF: Danielle, welcome to The Phil Factor and thank you for taking some time for my readers and dog lovers. Witho...

Throwback Thursday! Extortion at the Corner of Happy and Healthy
06/06/15 You know the Walgreens commercials with the voice of John Corbett, the D.J. from Northern Exposure? He’s always saying that “Walgreen’s is at the corner of happy and healthy.” I’d like them to update the commercial to say, “Walgreen’s is at the corner of happy, healthy, and blackmail.”
You often hear the line in movies, “Blackmail is an ugly word.” Yesterday it got ugly for me right in front of a Walgreens and Josh Corbett was not there to talk me down with his soothing voice. I’m s...

Wordless Wednesday! Pebbles
The picture is titled Pebbles and was painted last year in my hometown by Swedish artist Andreas Englund. Andreas Englund, based in Stockholm, is mostly recognized for the realistic and humorous oil paintings depicting the everyday life of an anonymous superhero. The series ranges from the superhero’s first mission as a toddler to being an old man, still struggling with everyday trivialities. I feel very fortunate to have one of these murals in my town because he has painted this specific ch...
