Just found your stories a few days ago. Usually when I find something new and epic, it is unfinished and hasn't been updated in years. So happy to discover this is still ongoing!

Thanks! And I know what you mean—I hate running to the end of an awesome story and finding out that it’s been, like, five years since the last update. (*cough*WheelOfTime*cough*).

Hello! It just occured to me that Milo speaks/understands Common but never took a skill for language (English). Does that mean that all common human languages are "Common"? As in, does Milo intrinsically understand French and German? Or is this more a fact

Common is English in Milo’s world, specifically Canadian English, because the mysterious spirits that are the DM and four Players speak Canadian English (there have been a couple of mentions in the book, I think, that he has a vaguely-American accent). I’ve always sort of imagined Common being the same as whatever language the group playing the game speak with each other. He’d have to use a spell or put a rank in Comprehend Languages (or take a trip in the TARDIS) to speak French or German.

Man, back when you were just making mysterious noises about your "Super Secret Side Project" I couldn't wait for you to just hurry up and tell us what it was. Goes to show you should be careful what you wish for: now waiting to actually get my hands on it

Hah hah, yeah. I got a lot of that from all sides when I went on hiatus over the holidays (partly because I did such a lousy job of keeping people informed). I’m glad you’re excited now, though! Answering people’s questions about the game on tumblr is actually a lot of fun for me. It gets me super pumped, which in turn makes me want to work harder on it.

You, sir, are amazing. I've been reading this fanfic for a year now, and I must say that it is the best I've ever seen. I love Fiona, it's such an interesting character, and you managed to integrate her perfectly. I keep getting the feeling that she will b

Thank you!

Fiona started off as a walk-on character who was supposed to just beat Milo up, deliver a line or two, and generally remind people that the order of close-combat talent goes Anyone with any training at all > Milo > Anyone without training.

But something about writing her was just so much fun that I couldn’t let her go. I was pretty hesitant at first about expanding her role—fan fiction communities can come down hard on original characters—but the reaction was generally positive, so I let myself go wild with it. The London shootout between people with guns and people with wands, neither of whom were really expecting it to escalate as far as it did or really understood the capabilities of the other side, was probably my favourite thing I’ve written ever. At least in terms of how much fun I had doing it, if not quality in how it turned out. The only other thing that came close was when I realized how Milo could brew that potion in front of Snape and Fudge and everyone back in Book 1. There was a lot of rubbing my hands together in glee and cackling to myself. You know, general good DM stuff.
