2 Days Left in My Goodreads Giveaway!

Happy Sunday, me hearties!

I'm just back from taking a trip to see my son and getting the chance to pin on his new rank in a battalion award ceremony. My youngest son is a Sergeant now. Woot!!! What a great accomplishment for him and a boon to my spirit to be able to share that moment with him! (Now I have two Sergeants in the family: an Air Force TSgt and an Army Sgt. Not to mention my nephew is a Sgt. in the National Guard.)

We all have moments in our lives when we enjoy having family and friends there to share them. What a special memory an event like this becomes too. I will cherish it always and I hope my presence created a special memory for my son. I'm so extremely proud of him for serving our country!

But that's not the only thing exciting me today. My Goodreads giveaway is almost at an end. Which means 3 lucky winners will receive an autographed copy of my paperback Duke by Day, Rogue by Night. And... I'm going to throw in some swag too for the winners, me hearties!!!
So don't miss this chance to sign up now, okay?

Here's the link:

Lots more going on in my life but I'll share in later posts. Until then, may you all be well.

Keep your eyes on the prize!!!

Blessings,
Katherine

Becalmed

Happy Easter, me hearties! (Sorry for being a day late with my blessing.) My family and I celebrated by going to visit my rogue's family for Easter dinner in Tennessee, with a booksigning thrown in. Good times!

Today, I want to talk about being becalmed. Yep. The moment when the wind stops blowing and a ship sits sweltering in the hot sun until a breeze can send it on its way. That's how I feel these days after a week in Cancun on vacation and two weeks taking care of my grandson. Becalmed.

But that's also an illusion. Thoughts are echoing in my brain. Ideas for books. Which one do I write now? Questions about promotion. Am I doing it right? Career goals. Where do I see myself in five years? So many thoughts with too little answers. What a conundrum!

So if I've been absent of late, chalk that up to me having been on vaca and cuddling my infant grandson. Woot! And if you listen closely, you can probably hear the wheels turning in my head as I try to figure out my immediate future plans.

Until then, don't forget you still can sign up for a chance to win an autographed copy of Duke by Day, Rogue by Night in my Goodreads giveaway, which ends April 9th!

Blessings!

I've been out of touch for a bit because I spent a week in Cancun, Mexico. (That just happens to be the place the beginning of The Rogue's Prize came to me. Woot!)

I'm spending two weeks at darling daughter #1's house helping to take care of her 3 month old son. He's my youngest grandson and I'm having the time of my life caring for him!!!

Soon, I'll be heading off for another adventure to witness handsome son #2's promotion to Sgt. Yippee!!! Can't wait!!

I promise to post snippets of my adventures soon, me hearties. As you can guess, my time is very limited with an infant under my wing. But I'll be back in action soon. I promise!!!

Down Time

I've been enjoying some down time since turning in the second book in my Nelson's Tea Series, The Rogue's Prize. What is your favorite thing to do when you want to relax?

Reading is my favorite pastime, other than knitting, quilting, and gardening. I used to can my own jam, spaghetti sauce, applesauce and tomato sauce, as well as peppers, pickle relish and salsa, but those days are gone. While I miss the yumminess of homemade goodies, so many other wonderful things have taken their place... like writing books, my ultimate passion. There's only so much time in a day, right?

And so, it goes without saying that during my own down time, I'm picking up my latest passion in another author's book. Lately, I've been rereading the wonderful books that have inspired me through the years. Authors like Shana Galen's Comte De Valere series, THE MAKING OF A DUCHESS, THE MAKING OF A GENTLEMAN and THE ROGUE PIRATE'S BRIDE. Wonderful characters fill these exciting action adventure romances. The amazing thing is, you know great books when you can't put them down after reading them for the 2nd time!!! Brava, Ms. Galen!

I've neglected to read as much as I should lately. My muse is hungry for sustenance, me hearties. So I'm pulling out all the stops, buying books for my Kindle, pulling out my favorite books from my shelf, digging into my TBR pile, and having the best time of my life.

Another fabulous thing I'm doing in the interim between Book 2 and Book 3 in the Nelson's Tea Series... I'm working on another project completely different from what I've published to date. It's an exciting story. The story of my heart.

So if you haven't picked up Shana Galen's books, I urge you to do so. You won't be disappointed, me hearties. But if you've also got favorites you've stored in your book shelf, grab one of those too. Nothing is more wonderful to the soul then returning to characters you've loved and still continue to be an influence.

Wishing you joy!
Blessings,

Katherine

Lost Treasure, Captive Princess Has Arrived!

As you can imagine, I'm dancing a jig today. Lost Treasure, Captive Princess, my first contemporary romance, has finally been released via Crimson Romance. And in 3-4 months it should be out in print!!

Written like a HQN Presents for the 2011 HQN Mills & Boon New Voice's Contest, the book was a joy to write. Gian-Paolo Montovanni sure had his way with me, me hearties. Seriously, he was an alpha male to remember, leading me about his palace, speed boats and yacht, flashing all of his wealth and prestige. He's a man who knows what he wants and is willing to go as far as he can go to get it. He knew how he wanted his story written and once, when I balked at where he wanted to take his story, he kept me from writing for two weeks until I finally relented, to prove it. Devilish rascal!

What's an author to do when her characters take on lives of their own? Well, I'm quite happy to have heroes and heroines like that around. Makes for great writing and living, since I live with them for the entire time it takes to write the book. I hope you find Gian-Paolo and Carolina just as much fun, dear readers!

Today, you can find me on the Crimson Romance Editor's Blog at: http://www.crimsonromance.com/ and at my Rogues, Rebels & Rakes blog at: http://www.katherinebone.wordpress.com

Until we meet again!

Ciao!

Katherine

4 Days Until Lost Treasure, Captive Princess Arrives!

I'm celebrating today. Why? My debut contemporary Lost Treasure, Captive Princess via Crimson Romance will be released in 4 days, me hearties!!

Writing Gian-Paulo and Carolina's story was such a joy. But I'll tell you, my Italian prince, GP, could be quite demanding. There was a scene he insisted on taking part in that I didn't want to write. By jove, the devil blocked me for two weeks until I would write that scene for him. Once I broke down and did as he requested, he gave me no more trouble. Wily charmer! Passionate Italian!

How do characters become so vibrant for a writer? I've heard someone say that a writer controls the book. I've also been told that I'm an instinctive writer. For me, that means my characters lead the story, not the other way around. They materalize out of the nether, talk to me, sometimes badgering me until I give in, and urge me to help them find their HEA. Only when I agree to write their stories is it possible for them to become real. Writing books is a fabulous adventure, don't you agree?

I'm having the time of my life, dear readers. Here's a snippet from that scene:

“I want you, Carolina.”

Inches away now, he hesitated, drawing expectancy from her that both shocked and amazed her with its potency. Then, ever so slowly, he moved in to devour her lips, easing them apart with his tongue, instigating a battle of wills that somehow manifested itself into undeniable need.

Carolina wrapped her arms around him, clung to him, wanting him more than she’d ever wanted anything in her life. Their sexual encounter earlier in the day had only prepared her for this moment. She needed more of him and nearly fainted from the power of that need.

Thankfully, Gian-Paolo wasted no time. He lifted her into his arms. She moaned as he pressed against her and she welcomed the feel of his hard torso against her body. He set her down on the table and hiked her dress over her thighs, then deepened his kiss, thrusting his tongue inside her mouth, branding her with his heat, his taste.

He tore his lips from hers. She whined.

“I can’t wait for the dinner bell,” he said, sweeping his arm out, sending the expensive table setting careening against the wall. Glass shattered to the floor.

“Gian-Paolo — ” she admonished, before he took her lips again. He was mad! Crazy wild! But she matched his exuberance as she leaned back to give him better access against the polished table.

“Say my name again, Cara,” he implored.

“Gian-Paolo.”

Italians are passionate men, aren't they? I hope you'll enjoy Lost Treasure, Captive Princess as much as GP and I did, me hearties! Four days and counting...

Blessings,
Katherine

The Rogue's Prize!

Good morning, me hearties!

Found out some great news yesterday. The Rogue's Prize, Book Two of the Nelson's Tea Series, now has a May 6, 2013 release date. I'm so excited about Captain Henry Guffald's book. In an attempt to redeem himself, he meets a pirate he'll never forget.

Here's a blurb:

CAPTAIN HENRY GUFFALD is no ordinary captain. A member of Nelson’s Tea, he’s learned the hard way what treachery will achieve. As a result, he’s sworn an oath never to give in to his ambition. Daring, proud, Henry sets out to rescue a comrade captured in Spain. But when his ship is attacked by a female pirate roving the Cornish coast, waylaying his plans, Henry is forced to make her his prize if he’s going to save a good man’s life.

LADY ADELE SEATON has been raised in a family profited by a lucrative smuggling business. Though her parents wish otherwise, she would no sooner give up the call to rove than marry. But obtaining independence is a challenge when her brother faces a hangman’s noose. Planning to save him, she captures an English ship. But things go awry and she is dragged home in disgrace, forced to ally herself with the one man with the power to anchor more than her ship— her heart.

Have a wonderful Thursday!!

Blessings,

Katherine

Duke by Day, Rogue by Night Available in Paperback!

There are so many challenging but wonderful stages of being a published author. But nothing tops being able to hold your book in your own hands! Today, that possibility opened for me when Duke by Day, Rogue by Night became available in Print on Demand!!!!

(Psst! I've ordered my first 5 copies!!!)

Needless to say, I'm jumping stars tonight. I'm grinning ear to ear and my cheeks are already sore from smiling so much. What a joyous thing this is!!!

Like many of you can imagine, I've been checking Amazon and B&N for a few months now, hoping upon hope that my turn at bat would come and my book would be available in POD format. Today was one of those days I'd actually neglected to check. It wasn't until one of my Crimson Romance sister's published the new list that I realized I hadn't checked in a few days. And Woot!!!! The best surprise of my life!!! And I really needed a boost like this today. Starting new projects is always tricky business. I'm in the beginning stages of a new/old project now. Not sure if I'm happy with it at this point, but perhaps that will change the further I go along.

But there is this excitement to get my boosters popping! In the meantime, if you want to take a peak at my POD on Amazon, here's the link:
http://www.amazon.com/Duke-Rogue-Nigh...

As always, it's such a pleasure sharing a bit of myself with you.

Walk tall, dear readers. Speak proudly. And share your life with the ones you love!

Blessings,
Katherine
