Alicia was standing outside Sonia’s office, talking on her phone when I arrived.“No, really, it was me. I was clearly reading the signs wrong. I can’t apologize enough.” Alicia’s eyes gleamed with smugness when she caught sight of me entering Sonia’s office. What was all that about? “We’ll forget it ever happened. I shouldn’t have crossed my professional boundaries. I don’t want this to come between us…” I didn’t bother to listen to the rest of her conversation as my eyes caught Sonia.“Jade,” she said as she stood up from behind her desk. That was new. Sonia never stood up for anyone. “You can close the door.” I closed it with a puzzled look on my face. “Alicia doesn’t know I’m bringing you in on this mission yet.” It was a mission! Thank God! No, wait…if Sonia was bringing me in, it could only mean one thing! Damn it!“The mission involves working with Alicia,” I groaned, taking a seat in front of her desk. “Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad this is a mission, but do I have to work with her? Can’t someone else do it?”“Jade, I’m afraid you’re our only hope. I’m about to go against everything I’ve ever done while running the Seductors, but I can’t see any other way around it. Alicia has been on this case for almost two months and has gotten nowhere.”“You want me to take over Alicia’s mission?” I frowned. Since when had Alicia had a problem seducing a man? Everything started to dawn on me then, and I clutched the arms of my chair tightly.“I need the two of you to work together. This steal…it’s asking a lot. We aren’t even sure if it exists.” Now Sonia was losing me. “If we secure what we’ve been hired to find, our clients are willing to pay over one hundred million dollars. Maybe even more. There is no real price for it.” I was sure my mouth fell to the floor. One hundred million dollars? What the hell was the steal? “Jade, I’m asking a lot of you here, but I’ve hit a wall. If Alicia can’t work her magic, it can only mean one thing.” With bated breath, I was hanging on her every word. “He isn’t over you.”

Disobeying her own rules, she remained in his arms, lost and bewildered, barely understanding what she was doing and why his orgasm had affected her in a way quite differently from her own. His climax made her tender, made her want to become part of him and get him to love her. Unlikely, she told herself. Lose that schoolgirl’s dream. He fell deeply asleep, his face pale, and she watched him. From now on she wanted to invigilate every passing moment of his life so that he could never leave her. But that was impossible. This was the wrong man, and she must put an end to the affair. Otherwise, the hurt would become more acute and she would be unable to play her music, mourn for poor Jack or even survive. This was a wrong choice and she should not have made it. All that rubbish about only enjoying sex and not falling in love. That was nonsense. Who could live and love in such a way? Nobody could, the rules were flawed and stupid and she blushed as she remembered what she had said to Foley in her pompous little voice, in this same bedroom an hour earlier. Very gently she disengaged herself from his arms and crept away like a thief. In the spare room she lay down, every nerve tingling from the emotions she had just experienced and, to her dismay, every part of her yearning to return to his embrace. This wouldn’t do at all. She had only got to know him the day before yesterday and she tried to order her thoughts as she lay there under the cold sheets of the spare bed, shivering from the chill and desire. On the shelf stood a row of Britton’s antique lead soldiers— personal possessions, she supposed. Had they come from Foley’s childhood or did he collect them? Her chances of winning this man were hopeless and she had decided in advance she must be cool and controlling if she were to achieve any mastery over her own feelings and his. But the greater her need for him became, the less she would be able to control herself in his presence and she would be bound to flare out or become awkward or worse, let him see how much she was beginning to love him. With Jack it had been different. She had been secure in his response to her extravagance of feeling, her passionate love for him and her rages at his occasional infidelities. But this man was guarded, wary. He had suffered, had been hurt. Those scars on his body meant there would be inner scars as well which he was too proud to show anyone. Whatever horror lurked in his past life to make him hide so deeply within himself put him beyond her reach and she would have to win him without appearing even to want him. He was considerate, passionate and loving but he would never love her or any woman, unless that woman was clever. She would have to be cunning and deceitful, make him imagine she didn’t care, run the risk of hurting him, simply in order to stay with him. And did she want that? Was he worth the effort? All her previous plans for dealing with Foley stood in disarray. What had happened tonight robbed her of her plan never to fall in love with him. I should be with him now, she thought, trying to control the tears. I should nurse him, cherish him, smile when he smiles, get what I want from him. But he can’t love me like that, and after tonight maybe I shall never lie in his arms again.AUTHOR BIOJ S Goubert lives in East Anglia and has published several previous books under different pseudonyms and a number of short stories. EXCERPT
The darkness blurred and shimmered, bringing to life a man of moonlight and darkness: Aryne. Before him Aryne could see her, lying in bed, tears of loneliness staining her pillow. She made his heart ache. He softly stepped to her side. His hand touched her face and gently pushed back her hair. He leaned over and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead, turning her dreams from sadness to joy. Her body arched toward his touch as the skim of his hand, the heat of his skin traced the edges of her curves. He stepped back…and then within the shimmer of dreams disappeared.Night after night her loneliness cried to him. Unable to resist, he came to her. Subtly he inserted himself into her dreams, into her arms. Aryne knew it was wrong. As a guide, his job was to bring sweet, peaceful dreams. But no one affected him like she had. He was unable to resist comforting her, drawing her into his arms, covering her body with his…but only in her dreams. There Aryne stole the passion from her lips, igniting an ache in his body that would not go away.Touching her shattered him. He knew instinctively that her touch would be his downfall. Her touch could keep him here in this splinter of his world, isolated as all of the Outcasts were. Generations had gone by; those exiled had died long ago, their children mixing amongst the races of the universe. He had tried to stay away, fearing this. He was adrift, swept away, drowning in her passion, breaths away from losing himself. Giving in, acknowledging the power she unknowingly had over him would condemn him, keep him here if she was unable to travel to his world. Very few could navigate between worlds. And this world would drain his power rather than enhance it. Even the short time he spent there took its toll on him, the drain only in abeyance when he was in her arms. Try as he might, he could not resist her siren call. Only by controlling her and the passion between them could he make sure that he would not become lost. Lost in her. Trapped forever in her world. He had done his best, gentling her to his hand, to his control. She knew the unspoken rules, knew the consequences. He played them out in her dreams, a dark symphony of passion and restraint. Perhaps unforgivable for a guide, but he could not resist. And just her body was no longer enough. Eventually he would capture her heart and soul.A man of shadows, it would be during the midnight hours of her slumber.

Beverly Ovalle lives in Wisconsin with her husband Edmond of 24 years and two Chinese Water Dragons. Having her own Dragons is expected as she is dragon crazy and anyone that walks in her house can tell. Her son Nicholas visits when he is on leave from the Marines. A Pirate's Wife is currently on sale at Smashwords. I thought to repost the Interview I had with Falcon back in 2013.

Buy Link: Smashwords
I was fortunate enough to get the villain from A Pirate’s Wife for an interview. Falcon had no last name but was well known in the 1600's. A man who instilled fear over the seven seas through out his time. Cunning and sly, brutal to those around him and …

Falcon: “Now just stop there Missy!”
Me: “Why?”
Falcon: “What do you mean I was the villain?”
Me: “Well, you did do all those horrible things to people and you died at the end.”
Falcon: “I call it survival of the fittest Miss.” and he spit tobacco to the side, sneering at me in disdain.
Falcon: “Who are you anyway?”

Me: “The Author of the book.”
Falcon: “Women cannot write; they are simple minded.”
Me: “No, we are not," I said harshly, "you are a condescending man Falcon," and I glared at him as I point out. "We live in the 21 Century and women can do all things now.”
Falcon: “Imbeciles, never! Women can do nothing. They are only good for one thing.”

He slammed his fist on the table, and I must admit the man had me shaking in my boots.
Me: “We are not in your Century anymore Mr. Falcon.” I reminded him matter-of-factly.
Falcon: “Bha, women are only good for one thing.”
Me: “Must I remind you, Mr. Falcon, that you were killed by a woman.”
Silence fell among us as the beady eyes darted over the restaurant we met earlier on. One of my favorite hang outs and I felt very pleased with myself to get the notorious Pirate here. Even if he was dead.Falcon: “It is because you wrote the story, you know nothing of honor.”
Me: “It wasn't honorable what you did to the Almaida family or Rosa-Lee,” I pointed out.

Falcon: “She sure was pretty,” and he grinned slyly.
Me: “Yes she was, and married to Roberto. They were happy and they sure did deceive you.”

Falcon: “I was furious!” his fist hit the table again cursing at the fellow who stared at us and he looked away.
Me: “Easy there, we don't tolerate such bad behavior in public anymore.”
Falcon: “Bha, I still cannot believe she killed me.”
Me: “You did dare her, and you threaten her and her baby’s life,” I pointed out.
Falcon: “If it was my baby she would have felt differently about me.”
Me: “But she didn’t, she carried Roberto’s baby.”
Falcon: “Do not mention that traitor’s name in front of me,” he hissed.
Me: “But he was your son.”
Falcon: “Imbeciles! Do not mention his name, I will kill you!” His glare made me shiver and I took another sip of my water, just to calm my nerves.
Me: “So much violence. You died just as you lived.” I couldn't help myself as I continued to point out the facts.
Falcon: “I had a noble profession.”

Me: “No, you were a villain, thief and murderer.”
Falcon: “There is that word again, how dare you! I had mouths to feed.”
Me: “There were other ways to feed them!”
Falcon: “Bha, typical woman, know nothing!”
Me: “If I know nothing, then inform me so that I can understand why you became a Pirate?”
Falcon: “It is a long story.”
Me: “I have time, would you like some tea?”
Falcon: “What do I look like to you, a woman?”
Me: “No, but I thought tea would help you to calm down.”
Falcon: “I do not care for tea, I need rum!”
Me: “Tea and coffee, nothing else. This is a family restaurant. What about a nice Espresso, which would calm you down definitely.”

Me: “Very strong coffee. Drink.” I smiled at him as the waiter placed the small cup in front of him with trembling hands.
Falcon: “Nice and strong,” he said, smacking his lips, twirling the dark liquid in his small cup.
Falcon: “What did you call this drink?”
Me: “Espresso.”
Falcon: “Espresso. Hmmm,” smacking his lips again and gave me a grin as he waved the waiter closer, ordering another cup.
Me: “Please tell me why you chose the Pirate’s life?”
Falcon: “I ran away from home when I was only a lad of twelve. My father used to beat us with out reason; always drunk and in a bad mood. My mother, a pretty little thing was broken and had no more life in her.” I swear I could saw a tear forming in the corner of his eye but he brushed it away quickly, and I decide not to say anything.
“She could not defend herself against the onslaught, and finally he beat her to death, when I put her in the ground I disappeared never to return home. I found myself work in an Inn, but that was no work for me. All that cleaning and scrubbing just did not sit well with me. I wanted to explore the world. I listened to all the stories from the sailors who passed through the Inn, watched as they told in great detail about their ventures and I was hooked.” Taking another sip, he smacked his lips once again.
Falcon: “I met Brutus,” he chuckled looked at me and said, “now there was a villain, the devil personified,

Me: “How long did you work for him?”
Falcon: “I was a grown man by the time he died. Brutally, I might add. His second-in-command finally got to him and whacked him with an ax. Now that was a bloody mess.” His toothy grin showed ugly black stains and I shivered in disgust.
Me: “If you do not mind, spare me the gory details.”
Falcon: “Bha, women!”
Me: “Please go on.”
Falcon: “To my surprise the men chose me to be their new Captain. The task was overwhelming but I have learned to be tough. Trained by Brutus, I ruled with an iron fist. Tolerated no nonsense from my men. We sailed the seven seas, conquered everything that came in our sight. Including women. Now those were the days.” and he cackle his appreciation.
Me: “Today they will hunt you down.”
Falcon: “Who?”
Me: “The authorities.”
Falcon: “I am not scared.”
Me: “I know, because you are dead.”

Me: “I will not tolerate that tone with me, and I must remind you that you have been dead for centuries.”
Falcon: “Bha!” he sneered once again.
Me: “Tell me your thoughts about Rosa-Lee.”
Falcon: “She was a pretty little thing.”
Me: “You said that before, what else?”
Falcon: “Brave, very brave. I would have loved to have her for myself but at the end the best man won.”
Me: “So you do not mind that Roberto…”

Falcon: “You are a dim wit, of course I mind.”
Me: “Sir if you don't mind.”
Falcon: “What! Will your authorities capture me?” he sneered once again with an ugly grin.
Me: “It is impolite to talk like that.”
Falcon: “Impolite! Bha. That Rosa-Lee was the same. Annoying b…”
Me: “Falcon Sir!” My patience was dangerously low, so he continued to answer after another glare.
Falcon: “She was brave, and a good fighter with the sword.”
Me: “Yes I know.”
Falcon: “How will you know, you are so young?’
Me: “I wrote the book.”
Falcon: “Bha!”
Me: “Why didn't you like women? I would have thought after the way your father treated your mother that you would be better?”
Falcon: “Women cannot think for themselves and needs a firm hand from a man.”
Me: “I am sorry sir, but women can think for themselves. In this century, they have good professions, trained to do any work. There is no limit anymore to what a woman can do.”
Falcon: “Bha! I don't believe you. A woman need to know who is in charge, who is the better man.”
Me: “That doesn't make you a better man.” I was truly annoyed with this old geezer.
Falcon: “I do not have to listen to this anymore!”
Me: “Fine, I don't talk to ghosts either.”
Falcon: “Bha!” and he was gone.
Just like that.
Me: “Well there you have it, even in death he is impossible to talk too.”
Falcon: “Imbeciles!”

Important announcement: American Recall Center, a brand new site wants to raise awareness for all women: What is Power Morcellator? How does it effect you as a woman?
Today I have something totally different on my blog. Something that effects all women. The purpose of the post is to create awareness about some new and possibly dangerous developments within the women's health community.
Power Morcellators, a device commonly used in hysterectomies (the 2nd most common procedure for women in the US), have recently come under scrutiny from the FDA. Power Morcellators are used to cut tissue into small pieces to be removed from the body. The problem is that if the tissues carry undetected cancer, it's being spread within the abdomen and pelvis during these procedures. Many women are battling uterine cancer as result of Power Morcellators being used during their hysterectomies, and shockingly, the average life span following accidental morcellation of acancerous tumor is only 24-36 months. Because of this, it's our mission to spread the word about this to as many people as possible before the upcoming FDA hearing on the device. Everyone knows someone who has had a hysterectomy, so its important that we get this message out.

Power Morcellator
Power morcellators are medical devices used during various laparoscopic surgeries, such as hysterectomies and myomectomies, that aggressively cut uterine tissue into small pieces.
This permits the tissue to be removed through a small incision site, with the proposed benefits
including shorter recovery periods, fewer complications, and less pain. However, due to recent scrutiny and a rise in reports in the medical literature, the FDA issued
a safety alert in April 2014 discouraging the use of these devices in uterine and fibroid
removal procedures, as they may spread an undetected or unsuspected uterine sarcoma.
In this safety alert the FDA also noted there is no reliable method for accurately detecting
uterine sarcoma prior to hysterectomy or myomectomy. In addition, according to the FDA,
an estimated 1 in 350 women who undergo these procedures may have undiagnosed uterine
cancer. In response to this FDA communication, Johnson & Johnson’s power morcellator
manufacturing unit, Ethicon, hassuspended all worldwide sales and distribution of
power morcellators (though it has not issued a permanent market removal), affecting all
Johnson & amp; Johnson morcellator products including its Gynecare Morcellex, Gynecare
X-Tract, and Morcellex Sigma. Several hospitals have suspended use of these devices.

Power Morcellator Risks and Side EffectsThe inherent risk of power morcellation is the dissemination of the broken-up tissue. Benign tissue can become implanted on abdominal structures and organs, resulting in conditions such as fibroids, endometriosis, and adenomyosis, potentially requiring further surgery. Furthermore, power morcellators can spread malignant tissue from an undiagnosed uterine cancer, including leiomyosarcoma, endometrial stromal sarcoma, carcinosarcoma, and endometrial adenocarcinoma, and significantly worsen a patient’s prognosis from treatable to deadly.Allegations Against Power Morcellator ManufacturersAccording to The Pittsburgh Business Times, Johnson & Johnson may have been aware of the serious risks associated with power morcellators well in advance of the FDA’s warning. In 2006, eight years before their suspension of sales, Dr. Robert Lamparter, 63, then pathologist at Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, wrote to the company imploring them to “reconsider the risk [of power morcellators] to the patient” as these devices “may lead to dissemination of malignant tissue” during the removal of the uterus or uterine fibroids, as prescreening for cancer before the procedure is not always effective. As Lamparter pointed out in his complaint, “When the operative procedure is a standard hysterectomy, no damage is done. If a morcellation is done, the patient’s survival is jeopardized.”The email correspondence between Lamparter and Dr. David Robinson, then medical director of Ethicon Women’s Health and Urology division, indicates that the Johnson & Johnson subsidiary company responded only by including a precaution in the labeling for their morcellators’ instructions for use, but neglected to act further at the time.Lori Pasternack of Ethicon’s World Wide Customer Quality department dismissed Lamparter’s complaint in a May 10, 2006 letter. Lamparter appealed them to reconsider, saying the morcellator’s “potential to inadvertently do harm” was too great of a risk to ignore. It was not until after the FDA’s issued warning in April 2014 that Johnson & Johnson suspended the marketing and distribution of their power morcellators. For more info about the subject you can either go to the website Power Morcellator Lawsuit or email: general@recallcenter.com
