Book Blast: Charity's Warrior by Maya James

Synopsis:
Charity Powers is a young, intelligent woman that has left behind her predictable small town life, and even more predictable lover, to gamble on a fresh start in New York. She arrives with no leads or friends, just an armful of optimism and determination. When an attack at a local bar, a possible kidnapping attempt on her, is thwarted by a stranger, her life takes on an unforeseen turn.
Gorgeous and overly experienced Justin Collins saves Charity from her attacker, and continues to save her in many other ways. "He's just the right mix of gentleman and caveman,” is how she describes him. He gives her exactly what she wants, and almost everything she needs, but his damaged past makes it impossible for him to commit.
At a new job, she falls into an online relationship with JP, the company’s owner. She hasn’t seen him, but he fills the gaps of Justin’s absences and feeds a fire Justin left unattended.
The return of her ex-lover exposes the dangerous secrets around her—one of these men has the power and connections to keep her safe at any cost, and the endless love for her to use this power or give it up to keep her.

Excerpt: Justin has his arm around me, lightly playing with the hair behind my ear as we watched the streetlights come to life, quivering over the water's surface. The gondolier is actually humming a song now, but I think it is more to occupy himself than us. Our conversation drops off comfortably, and we enjoy the cool night. I take the opportunity and begin kissing the side of his face, following his strong jawline."If I told you that I'm falling in love with you, would you believe it?" Justin asks me suddenly. My heart is instantly pounding, and much too loudly to deny it. I'm sure it's sending ripples out on the water as it shakes the boat. "Yes," I answer through the huge lump of emotion in my throat. "Even though it would be a lie?" he adds softly."A lie?" I repeat painfully, insulted and devastated."I couldn't fall for you anymore. The truth is I've already fallen. I've even tried to get back up only to have you sweep the feet from under me again. I'm breaking the biggest promise I've ever made to myself, Charity." He turns to me, placing a hand on my cheek. "Despite all my efforts, I am hopelessly and endlessly in love with you. I don't want to know another day without you, I couldn't survive it."He is looking at me for a response through two very vulnerable eyes. There is no catching my breath, or my heart. They are galloping around the lake like wild horses, without any reigns to control them by. I am lost in the dust of their hooves, unable to breathe, to form words and utter a cohesive sentence in reply.
Author Bio:
Indie Author with my first Romance novel, Charity's Warrior, and now the second in the series, Charity’s Secrets, publishing on Amazon Kindle, Creatspace, Barnes & Noble and Smashwords.
I'm very passionate about writing stories full of love, lust, eroticism, and strong characters entwined around each other in an interesting, suspenseful journey.
East coast born and raised, I'm married, extremely happily, with 4 kids, 3 of which are now young adults (not sure when that happened).
I’m a COO in my technology-based "day job,” which requires a mix of technical and creative writing for both internal and client-facing materials, but it was not satisfying my artistic spirit. Writing the “Charity” series has been absolutely fulfilling and exciting.
My favorite writing takes place on my phone while lying on the Southernmost Beach in Key West, where I try to go at least twice a year.

EXCERPT:
“Lex, I love you,” he whispered.
I sucked in a breath of air and fought like hell to keep the tears from falling. It wasn’t the first time he’d ever said it to me, but this time, it felt so…different. A tear fell, and he quickly brushed it away with his lips as he let out a low, soft moan.
“You have no idea how hard it is for me not to make love to you every time I’m with you. I want nothing more than to be with you, but I want it to be right. I want it to be perfect for you. I don’t want us to sneak into a barn or do it in a car. You deserve so much more than that, sweetheart. I want to make you feel special the first time we make love.”
Wow. Oh…just wow. My breaths were coming out faster. I looked at his lips as I licked mine.
He closed his eyes. “You drive me mad with desire, Alexandra. You have to know that.”
Oh dear God…I think I might have an orgasm…right now…right here.
When he opened his eyes, they were filled with something I’d never seen before. The intense feeling of need I had for him grew about a hundred times. I tried to talk, but only a whisper came out, “Will…”
When his lips touched mine, I let out a moan. I opened my mouth to him so that our tongues could explore each other like they had done a hundred times before. I brought my hands up and ran them through his hair. When he pushed himself into me, I felt his hard-on, and I wanted to wrap my legs around him so badly.
The kiss started to become passionate…until I heard someone clear his throat. I snapped my eyes open right as Will pulled back and scrunched up his face.
“Shit,” he whispered so that only I could hear.
He took a few steps away from me as he ran his hand through his hair. Lord, help me.
I wanted this boy, and even though I knew we had just been caught making out in my father’s barn, my desire for him was so intense that I wanted to cry. I never took my eyes off of him.
He winked at me before turning to the side. “Dad, Gunner, um…I mean, Mr. Mathews…um…I mean, sir…”
I closed my eyes and took in a deep breath. Oh…holy…hell. My father just caught me making out in his barn.
I tried to compose myself as I pushed off the wall and turned to face my father and Will’s father, Josh. I wanted to giggle over Will struggling on how to address my father, but when I looked into my dad’s eyes, I knew that wouldn’t be the smartest thing to do.
“So…” Josh started to say as he shook his head and smiled at Will.
“Damn, boy…you picked the wrong girl to get caught making out with in her daddy’s barn.”
I quickly glanced over at Will, who looked at my father and then back at his dad. He smiled slightly, but then he looked back at my father and swallowed hard.
Dragging in a deep breath, my father looked at us. “Alex, Will…I think y’all need to head on up to the house and wait for us on the back porch.”
Will and I looked at each other, and at the same time, we said, “Yes, sir.”
As we walked out of the barn, Will grabbed my hand right in front of my father.
Will looked at me, winked, and whispered, “I think that went well.”
I just looked at him with my mouth hanging open. “You must have a death wish.”

Book Blast: The invisible Series by Michelle Lynn. Stand a chance to win your very own copy of this series.

Synopsis:
Sadie Miller is attempting to change her ways and hide somewhere no one knows her former self. She only wants to finish her final year of college, obtain her degree, and get out from the hold of her affluent parents. Then she meets Brady Carsen, the lead singer of The Invisibles, a popular local band in the college town. She tries to stay away but quickly realizes that, although he might not be what she’s used to, he’s exactly what she needs and more importantly, everything she could possibly want.
Unfortunately, Sadie’s troubled past left her with insecurities that make her question Brady’s true intentions. And while Brady is convinced that Sadie is the one for him, he has his own secrets that he fears will be their undoing. If they want to be together, they will have to stand united and fight the outside influences that are threatening to tear them apart. Can they put their pasts behind them for good in order to secure their future?
Excerpt from Don’t Let Go
“So you knew I wasn’t drunk?” I ask him and he grins.
“Yeah, I knew you were sober. I didn’t knock you down though. That was just luck on my part,” he chuckles. “Then you were there by my side, and I had to go up on stage to play. There has never been a time that I didn’t want to perform more than that night. I told the guys we were going to cut it short. When I finished the second song, I saw you had left and it was all I could do to finish the set. I was so pissed at myself for allowing you out of my sight again.”
“Why are you telling me this?” I ask him.
“I need you to trust me.” He grabs my hand, placing it in his lap. “I can’t tell you where I was Friday night, at least not yet. But believe me Sadie, I wasn’t with anyone else. You’re the only girl who consumes my thoughts, my dreams, and my mind. Please trust me when I say there is no one else,” his voice is desperate, saturating his soft brown eyes.
A big part of me believes him. My thoughts go to Jessa and how she now trusts guys again after what her ex-boyfriend did to her. I need to move on with my life; it’s been over a year and I still harbor all of the hurt and remorse. If I don’t start living my life, it is going to pass me by. Brady’s right, I never gave him a fair shot.
“I believe you,” I whisper, still unsure of my decision to give this a chance.“Thank you, Sadie.” He releases the deepest breath in relief. “Now I have one more favor.” He peers over at me, continuing to hold my hand.
“What, Carsen?”
“Go on a date with me. A real date, just you and me from beginning to end,” he asks, squeezing my hand.
I close my eyes, willing myself to allow me to have this. Give myself the possibility to have happiness and accept the consequences. “Yes,” I answer him.
He picks up my hand and spreads it open, kissing my palm to his lips, and I wish he would continue that kiss up my arm.
“I’ll pick you up tonight at six,” he instructs.
“Tonight? It’s Monday,” I counter.
“I’m not waiting a whole week, Sadie.” He shakes his head and releases my hand, placing the sketchbook back in his bag.
“Alright,” I agree.
“Let’s go, I’ll walk you back to the dorm.” He holds his hand out to help me up and then keeps it firmly in his for the entire walk.
“I have a question.” I look over to him.
“What?”
“How did you know where I lived?”
“Hey, I’ve got to keep some secrets to myself.” He smirks over to me, squeezing my hand again.
“You aren’t some stalker guy who is going to murder me tonight, are you?” I question seriously.
“I promise you, I’m not a stalker and I’m not going to murder you. Kidnap maybe, but not murder,” he laughs.

Synopsis:
**This is a STANDALONE! You do not need to read book 1 in order to enjoy LET ME IN ***
Grant is damaged, selfish, and undeserving of love…or so he thinks.
Jessa is happy, in love, and has overcome her past…or so she thinks.
Grant and Jessa can’t stop thinking about one another since being introduced at a party a month ago. And despite their differences, they can’t seem to stay away from each other either. However, both are hiding secrets of less-than-perfect pasts, fearing what will happen when those mistakes come to light. As they grow closer, they each battle their own insecurities, and neither believes that they are worthy of the kind of love that they both still want. So if it’s true that opposites attract, what happens when the similarities begin to surface?
Let Me In Excerpt
I shut the door after waving goodbye to Grant and a rush of unexpected sadness smacks me. Ever since Sadie persuaded me to move out of the dorms and into Brady’s house with them, I’ve seen Grant every day. Although his jeans and university sweatshirt apparel isn’t normally my preference anymore, I can’t help but notice the way his shirt usually tightens around his biceps. And I really couldn’t help but notice the way his shirt would rise up when he was painting, exposing a six pack that I assume he works for on a daily basis. I also haven’t missed the way his honey-colored hair sticks up in different directions every time he runs his fingers through it when he seems tired or annoyed. It’s only been two short weeks since I first met Grant, but I’m not blind to our connection with each other. I keep reminding myself though that guys like him don’t go for girls like me. Not to mention, I have Rob.Rob treats me well, better than anyone else ever has. I might not like the way he checks out other girls when they walk by, or the way he usually walks through doors in front of me, but he’s nicer than Jason and we are definitely attracted to one another.
“What are you doing?” Sam asks. Now here’s the girl for Grant. My sister’s long chestnut hair is curled in little corkscrews with a few strands pinned back, while the rest flows down her back. The skirt she’s wearing, which looks like she ironed it this morning, is paired with a cute matching sweater. She and Grant would make the most adorable little preppy babies together.
“Nothing … why?” I ask her.
“You’ve been leaning against that front door for the past five minutes,” she laughs, and I quickly remove my hand that still rests on the doorknob.
“Just thinking,” I answer, starting to walk back into the room.
“Not about Rob,” she states and raises her eyebrows in question.
Although she’s mostly correct, I decide to take the defensive, “Shut the fuck up, Sam.” I walk into the family room, ignoring her.
“It’s okay, Jessa. I know you like him,” she calls out to me, but I continue my way through the family room and into the kitchen. I grab a beer out of the fridge and chug half of it before sitting down at the table. I know I shouldn’t be so mean to Sam; she’s my sister and knows me better than anyone. Not to mention, she stood by my side during that horrible time. She’s knows the depression and the hurt I suffered after that asshole destroyed my life. I’ll never forget the night she was my guardian angel. Without her … who knows where I’d be. A hospital, a prison, or not on this earth at all.
Most of all, I know she’s right. I do like Grant, but to what degree, I have no idea. I’m not about to blow what I have with Rob, only to find out that Grant has no interest. I chuckle to myself, thinking about him bringing me to one of those Greek formals.

Synopsis:
A chance encounter. An undeniable connection. An unimaginable twist of fate.
Kailey’s life is crumbling. Her best friend and sister, Jen, is dying, leaving her young family devastated. With little hope of saving her, Kailey is forced to face a reality she never expected.
Trey’s life is fun and carefree. He loves the girls, his drums, and his friends. That’s not to say he isn’t continuously plagued by a difficult decision made years ago—one that changed the course of his life.
Despite the connection they make when their paths unexpectedly cross, Kailey knows her life has no room for anyone else right now. But regardless of how many times she pushes him away, Trey only fights harder to make a place for him in her life and in her heart.
Trey thought he knew heartbreak, but he had no idea until life gave him a second chance, only to snatch it away just as fast. This time he’s determined to keep his place in the life of the ones he loves.
Is there such a thing as fate? If so, can Kailey and Trey hold on to one another long enough to discover there’s no such thing as a chance encounter?
Let Me Love Excerpt
“Trey, thank you for coming, but you can leave now,” I say coldly with no emotion. He can’t be tied down with me, he needs to go and live a life I can no longer be a part of.
“No, Kailey, I’m not leaving.” He stands firm, planting his feet. Uncontrollable anger starts brewing in my veins. I’m mad he won’t listen to me and just disappear. Can’t he see it’s the best for him to forget us?
My hand rests on the lock; ready to twist it open when he steps forward. He turns me around to face him and cages me between his arms against the door. “Trey,” I argue, but he presses his lips to mine and an immediate raging desire seeps into my every pore. As much as my body screams to him, anger still lingers that he’s forcing me to be callous and cruel.
He places his hands on either side of my face, continuing to kiss me as though he’s starving for only my mouth. Instinctively, the irrational, live life in the moment Kailey that he easily pries out of me appears. Something only my sister and her family could accomplish until he came into my life. “Please,” he whispers, and my body starts to sway in his strong hold, as he travels his lips over to my earlobe and down my throat.
“Stop it, Trey, leave me alone,” I cruelly spout, placing my hands on his chest, trying to push him back, but he only grips tighter.
“You know you don’t want me to.” He trusts his keen instincts because they’re usually always right when it comes to me.
Trying to close myself off, I press my lips together when his graze across mine again before his tongue requests permission. But in the end, I’m not willing to deny myself, I open, allowing his familiar tongue to roam around my mouth and mingle with mine. The kiss feels safe and warm, like home. Ever since that fateful plane ride, I’ve felt as if Trey was a part of me. Recalling our first kiss; it was nothing like this. God! He ignited my whole body the first time his mouth pressed against mine. In those three minutes, he ruined me. No man would ever compare. But this, this is what I crave at night when I lay in bed all alone. It’s the familiarity of the one man who knows my lips, my tongue, and my body. My need of one man who continues to enjoy exploring every curve and nuance over and over again, as if he has discovered his own wonderland. When my thoughts unscramble, my lips and tongue are moving carelessly without retention of the real issue.
“Stop it, Trey.” This time, I use all my force to push him back. I’m torn if I’m happy, mad, or just sad. Sheer dejection fills his eyes, and suddenly remorse hits me. “We just can’t,” I softly say, shaking my head back and forth.
“Yes, we can,” he says, stepping forward, but I shake my head violently again. “What the hell, Kailey? All I want to do is love you,” his voice starts escalating, and I need to flee the room. His presence alone makes me jittery and uncontrolled. The sooner I leave, the sooner I can get myself stable again, back into my sealed bubble.
“I told you already, Trey.” I bite my lip, not wanting to lie again, but I will, if I have to.
“Don’t tell me that bullshit again. You and I both know it isn’t true.” He steps closer to me, and my weakness begins getting the best of me.
“Please, I need to get back out there,” I tell him, but he approaches again, pulling me to him similar to a child with their security blanket. I succumb to the haven of his embrace, mindlessly relishing the warmness of home.
“Kailey, it’s taking everything in me not to keep you right here, up against this door, until you admit you love me. I’ll let you leave this room, but don’t say you don’t love me again. I know you do, and no matter how hard you try to push me aside, I’m not leaving.” He releases me after his rant, and I unlock the door, fleeing the room.

Some cowboys are worth getting dirty for.
In her latest adventure, sassy Deputy Laney Briggs discovers the local high school football coach passed out under the stadium bleachers wearing nothing but a smile…and his wife’s lingerie.
Things really start to get wild when she runs into the smoking hot Federal Marshal, Colt Larsen, snooping around the Granger’s house. Quicker than a cold snap comes and goes in Texas, Laney finds herself up to her eyeballs in a case involving a ruthless motorcycle gang, a Mexican drug cartel, a kidnapping, and a shoot-out to rival the O.K. Corral.
In over their heads, Laney calls in the big guns—her very own Texas Ranger, Gunner Wilson, who’s ready to fulfill every last one of her desires. But as things heat up between them, the stakes get higher than ever, and Gunner’s help may not be enough for Laney to get out alive…

I plopped into my chair, tossed my hat on top of the desk, then did the same with my legs. Leaning back, I shifted my weight to get comfortable and opened my mouth to begin telling him everything that had gone down since we’d parted ways at the stadium. “The gentleman I was speaking with is—”
“What the pretty lady was about to say,” a voice said, cutting me off in mid-sentence, “was that I’m the federal marshal she met at the Grangers’ place.”
I peeked past Elroy and wanted to die on the spot.
There, hunkered down in the back corner of the station, a hip resting against the wall, and a muscular arm tossed over the Igloo water cooler, was Colt Larsen. “How the hell…?”
He moved away from the wall and stood in the middle of the room, straight and tall. “More precisely, I’m Federal Marshal Colt Larsen from Tarpon Pass.” The smug asshole extended his hand toward Elroy.
“Tarpon Pass,” Elroy said, shaking his hand. “Now where might that be?”
“It’s down on the coast. Not too far south of Rockport,” Colt answered.
“Never heard of the place,” Elroy said.
“It’s a nice town,” Colt replied, then fixing his eyes on me, he added, “We’d love to have you come out and visit. We welcome folks of all kinds in our town.”
Elroy wiped his mouth. “My, my, a federal marshal.” He shot a look my way. “I bet Gunner’s going to lose it when he finds out you’ve tagged yourself another cowboy.”
Colt let out a short cough. “Do you mean Gunner Wilson?”
“Yeah. Who else would I be talking about?”
“I’ll be damned.” He smiled. “You’re the Laney Briggs.”
I shrugged. “And your point is?”
“It just all makes perfect sense why you shot at me tonight, that’s all.” He smiled some more, crossing by the desk and making a turn down the corridor leading to the single jail cell.
I got up and stalked after him. “Colt Larsen,” I shouted at his distancing back, “I’m warning you. If you take another step, I’ll…”
He spun around. “You’ll what? Shoot me?”
“Maybe.” I fisted my hands at my side. “Are you always a pain in the ass?”
He pulled off his hat and scratched his head. “Yes, ma’am. Well, that’s what my ex-wife used to always tell me.”
That silenced me for a minute. Before I could cough up a reply, Colt took it upon himself to help me out.
“I can’t believe it. The infamous Laney Briggs is speechless,” he taunted, winking. “Is it that you don’t see me as the marrying type?”
I narrowed my eyes and called, “Elroy, get the keys to the cell. We’re about to have ourselves a little chat with Mr. Granger.”

"M.C.V. Egan twists truth and fiction until you question your perceptions...it is a story of real love, triumph and search for self." - Beckah Boyd @ The Truthful Tarot On August 15th, 1939, an English passenger plane from British Airways Ltd. crashed in Danish waters between the towns of Nykøbing Falster and Vordingborg. There were five casualties reported and one survivor. Just two weeks before, Hitler invaded Poland. With the world at the brink of war, the manner in which this incident was investigated left much open to doubt. The jurisdiction battle between the two towns and the newly formed Danish secret police created an atmosphere of intrigue and distrust. The Bridge of Deaths is a love story and a mystery. Fictional characters travel through the world of past life regressions and information acquired from psychics as well as archives and historical sources to solve "one of those mysteries that never get solved." Based on true events and real people, The Bridge of Deaths is the culmination of 18 years of sifting through conventional and unconventional sources in Denmark, England, Mexico and the United States. The story finds a way to help the reader feel that s/he is also sifting through data and forming their own conclusions. Cross The Bridge of Deaths into 1939, and dive into cold Danish waters to uncover the secrets of the G-AESY.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

M.C.V. Egan is the pen name chosen by Maria Catalina Vergara Egan. Catalina was born in Mexico City, Mexico in 1959, the sixth of eight children, in a traditional Catholic family. From a very young age, she became obsessed with the story of her maternal grandfather, Cesar Agustin Castillo--mostly the story of how he died. She spent her childhood in Mexico. When her father became an employee of The World Bank in Washington D.C. in the early 1970s, she moved with her entire family to the United States. Catalina was already fluent in English, as she had spent one school year in the town of Pineville, Louisiana with her grandparents. There she won the English award, despite being the only one who had English as a second language in her class. In the D.C. suburbs she attended various private Catholic schools and graduated from Winston Churchill High School in Potomac, Maryland in 1977. She attended Montgomery Community College, where she changed majors every semester. She also studied in Lyons, France, at the Catholic University for two years. In 1981, due to an impulsive young marriage to a Viking (the Swedish kind, not the football player kind), Catalina moved to Sweden where she resided for five years and taught at a language school for Swedish, Danish, and Finnish businesspeople. She then returned to the USA, where she has lived ever since. She is fluent in Spanish, English, French and Swedish. Maria Catalina Vergara Egan is married and has one son who, together with their five-pound Chihuahua, makes her feel like a full-time mother. Although she would not call herself an astrologer she has taken many classes and taught a few beginner classes in the subject. She celebrated her 52nd birthday on July 2nd, 2011, and gave herself self-publishing The Bridge of Deaths as a gift. Find M.C.V. Egan and The Bridge of Deaths at www.thebridgeofdeaths.com.

EXCERPT“Phoebe draped her wet lingerie over the furthest towel rail, hoping Cole wouldn’t notice. She definitely didn’t want him to see what size she wore. Walking out of the bathroom with her purse, she pasted a smile on her face. “Finished.” “Thanks.” Cole rose from the wooden chair and grabbed his duffel bag, pausing as she walked further into the room. His eyes narrowed in on her chest for a second, before he seemed to recover himself and headed into the bathroom. Only when she looked down at her chest did she remember she wasn’t wearing a bra. Phoebe bit back a smile. Maybe Cole wasn’t so impervious to her after all. Feeling encouraged, she hopped into the bed, wishing she’d had the foresight to borrow a bra from Maddie as well. But at the time, she thought they’d arrive in Jackson late tonight, get everything straightened out tomorrow, and get back to Cheyenne tomorrow night. Now, that timeline just seemed a hopeful dream.”

Today's Book Blast is Scared of Beautiful by Jacqueline Abrahams currently on SALE.

SYNOPSIS:
Maia wants to be free. Free from the social obligations, free from the money, free from the control that her privileged upbringing has taken from her life. And at college, she wants to be unseen, unheard, unnoticed.
Jackson's life has been less than perfect since his high school girlfriend took the back door out of his life, permanently. After years of subscribing to an existence of less than gentlemanly behaviour, he decides to man up and go to college, promising to be done with random hook ups and female drama.
They had it all worked out, each one had a plan.
At least they did...until they met.
Together they run from everything; from life, from happiness, from each other. They are two people both so scared; of heartbreak, of repeating past mistakes, of trusting someone else. Two people simply scared of beautiful...
Please note: Scared of Beautiful is recommended for mature audiences 18+ due to sexual content and language

EXCERPT:
I didn’t, however, take into account that when I was trying to be an elusive ice queen, that I am and probably always will be annoyingly comfortable in Jackson’s company. After stuffing our faces, we order drinks and relax into the evening, which as it turns out, flies by with ease. The more scotch I drink, the more attractive Jackson becomes and my eyes revert more than once to the bulge in his jeans. If he notices, he doesn’t mention a thing, but does casually adjust his pants when I lean forward to grab my phone from my bag, or to reapply my lip-gloss. I know I’m teasing, deliberately bending forward to flash my black lace bra. I want him to want me. But at the same time, I told him not to. More than once in the evening I’m distracted by the head versus heart versus vagina dilemma I have going on.
“This is nice,” Jackson says quietly during our third round of drinks.
“What?” I ask curiously.
“Having drinks, no pressure. I guess we can be friends after all. Who knew?” He gives me a cocky sideways grin.
“Easy huh?” I say with mock offense.
“Not even missing me a little?” I try to sound nonchalant, but the sadness makes its way past my smile.
“Every day,” he says looking down with sudden interest at the label on his beer bottle. “If being friends is the only way to see you, then it’s what I’ll gladly take.”
The conversation stalls right then, because truthfully, there’s nothing either of us can say. We’re both lying and we know it. This awkwardness, this conversation, will always be the elephant in the room for us.
I knock back the contents of my glass and order another. I should stop drinking. That’s what I should do. We should say goodnight and exit stage left to our respective lonely beds right fucking now. But neither of us go. Neither of us can. The Clever Bean around us is alive with the sounds of glasses clinking and drunken merriment. I knock back the next glass as it lands in my hand.
“I should go,” I say with hesitation before grabbing my bag.
“I’ll walk you,” Jackson says standing up.
“I’m fine, it’s a few doors down,” I reply with a polite smile.
Jackson gives me a cocky grin, “Mama said to be a gentleman at all times. Gotta listen to mama, now.”
I shrug and we walk. The whiskey obviously has had a much stronger effect on me now that I’m standing up and using my lower extremities. After me missing the curb twice, Jackson slides an arm around my waist. I would tell him to back off, but he’s all that’s keeping me walking in a straight line. And he smells so fucking good, like soap and fresh mint mixed with an ocean breeze.
This half drunk, half lucid state that I’m in is doing nothing to help me maintain my resolve. I want to fucking leap into Jackson’s arms, wrap my arms and legs around his person and hold on for dear life. The urge almost brings me to my knees a few times in our short walk. I stay silent, as I’m not able to trust myself with whatever could spew verbally from my mouth. Jackson opens my building door and holds it open for me.
“Will you be okay from here?” he asks.
Yes, no, not really, maybe. What the hell do I say? Before my brain formulates a decent response to the question, my body answers for me, and my traitorous lips crash into his. Jackson grabs my waist and kisses me as though he’s been roaming a desert and I’m his oasis, his water.
“Maia.” My name leaves his lips through the kiss in a guttural moan, and it sounds so freaking hot. It must be the alcohol affecting me, because every nerve in my body feels like it’s laced with live voltage.
Jackson pushes me up against the far wall, and the first thought that pops into my head is, thank God I don’t have a doorman. My body rocks between the wall and Jackson, and his hips grind me into the plaster so hard I’m worried for a moment that I’ll go straight through. Our kisses are feverish, almost suffocating us, and the air around us electric. He struggles to find bare skin, practically clawing at my clothing. Without a moment’s hesitation, I reach down for his belt buckle, my fingers clumsily prying it apart. I want to feel Jackson so badly that the thought clouds every other in my mind.

Why did I write Bella's Choice? New contemporary romance by Lynelle Clark

I have read a few books on ménage, and swinging; finding it interesting and fascinating at times. It definitely has its place on the genre shelves. Many couples live this lifestyle as an everyday occurrence. If this is your choice and you are happy with it, I say enjoy. But, I am also curious and often ask questions like:What about the children?Do they know? What effect does this have on them?Bella’s Choice was born from these questions and originally written as an erotic story. However, I thought it best to change it and look at it from a different perspective. In South Africa, there are a great number of people who follow this lifestyle, although hidden in the folds of society. The reason it is hidden is because it’s not acceptable to the normal way of life, and is condemned by the average person. I spent some time on one of the sites available and learned that the people who have chosen this way of life are normal, everyday people with a love for the outdoors and their children, and would do nothing to harm them. Unlike the parents in this book. This is the extreme and has been entirely concocted in my mind. They went overboard, became addicted to the lifestyle, and almost destroyed their children in the process.Everyone I’ve met within the swinging community are caring parents, always careful about whom they meet with and where, never allowing their children to come to any harm. I have met beautiful couples with a love for the adventurous side of lovemaking when they want more than just the average married life. I must admit that I was surprised to see the huge number of followers in my country, even in my region. Not long ago, this lifestyle made headlines claiming this fact.Trust is a major point within this group; you have to be comfortable with each other in order to connect with the right couple or couples; meeting on common ground to test the waters, before plunging in and indulging in sex. If this mutual connection does not exist, it will not happen―ever. It’s a long, sifting process where courting is very important. Not the old fashioned way, of course, but rather by talking and discovering who these people are. Sharing photographs also helps in the connection part of such relationships. Both husband and wife must be comfortable with the idea of sharing, or it will not advance to the next step. These are groups of people who like to explore all possibilities but not lose themselves in the process, or cause those around them any harm.In my story, trust is also a major issue for Anabella―the main character―who suffers from images she’s witnessed at home, which inevitably try to pull her into this lifestyle. She finds herself in situations where she has to defend not only herself, but the choices she makes. It is an individual choice, one that should never be forced on anyone, as is the case with Anabella and her parents. No matter how carefree and wonderful it all sounds, the consequences can be devastating to those around us. We are not alone in this world; our actions do have reactions that can create much pain and suffering to a certain individual.
This is also a story of forgiveness and moving forward, where the choice is to step away and choose something different, something Anabella would be comfortable with. Please read with an open mind. If you are easily offended, please do not purchase a copy.

Sandra Anthony sat in the hotel room after the conference she and her husband, Jason, had attended over the weekend. She switched on the big screen TV to watch some news while she waited for Jason, who was in the bathroom. They would be attending a charity ball that night for street children. Normally, they didn’t attend these kinds of events, but it would help to promote their business. As she flicked through the stations, she stopped at eNews sport. Her daughter had just appeared on the big TV screen, on the starting block for her swimming event; backstroke over two hundred meters.
Her emerald eyes roamed over her eighteen-year-old daughter’s young body, a spitting image of herself, except her daughter’s body was in very good shape, filled with energy and vibrancy. Her innocence was as clear as daylight. Sandra couldn’t help but smirk. She thought it was ridiculous that her only daughter wasn’t willing to share their lifestyle; to explore her body’s urges. With that body, she could introduce her to many willing customers, bringing in more business. Their lifestyle had opened up a very profitable business, one with various benefits which made life exciting.
It had all started when she was only sixteen years old and met her father’s friend, Robert. Robert had been in his early thirties and a beautifully built man with broad shoulders and a heavy chest, narrow waist and firm butt. He was extremely handsome. At sixteen, she’d been very innocent but very curious about sexual intercourse. She and her friends had read all they could on this topic, and secretly experimented with each other. It had thrilled her.
From the moment she met Robert, she knew that he would be her first. One Friday night, her parents had gone out to some function or other, and they stayed at home and watched TV. He was lying on the couch, his well-defined abs clearly visible through his white shirt. She could not help herself; she stared at his broad shoulders and chest unabashedly, and then lower where she could see the bulge in his pants, wondering how it would look.
He caught her staring and grinned, saying, “Do you want to touch?”
Her face has shown her eagerness, so he’d pulled his t-shirt over his head showing off his well-toned, tanned muscular chest.
She licked her lips as her eyes explored him, stopping at the zipper.
Again he spoke, his eyes not missing her actions at all. “How old are you?” he asked in a rough, low voice.
“Sixteen.”
“A bit young, but you will not mind if we play, will you?” He leaned closer to her with a devilish smile, her insides twirling with excitement.
She shook her head, not sure what to say, or even what he meant. Her body quivered. Her eyes were still fixed on him, watching as he stood, unbuttoned, and unzipped his jeans slowly, his eyes watching her every move. When her tongue ran over her dry lips, he started stripping in front of her.
“Sweet Jesus…” was the only thing that came out of her mouth. She had never seen anything like it. A thick, long erect member with a glossy tip jutted out and greeted her.
He chuckled. “Come here. Touch me,” he demanded, and she crawled to him without a second thought, lifted a trembling finger and touched the length of his shaft; it felt like velvet. She grinned wickedly. With greater eagerness, she wrapped her hand around him and told him how beautiful he was. He thanked her. That night, he coaxed her into touching him as he liked it, and she loved it. Going down on him, he moaned, and when she saw the reaction on his face, she’d felt powerful, grinning at him.
He held her head and told her what to do with her hand and her mouth. She was a typical teenager; curious, eager and full of energy. His taste had been exquisite on her lips, better than any fine wine.
He had just dressed when her parents walked into the house; they drank coffee and went to bed. Sandra kept thinking of the feel of him in her mouth and it was exhilarating. She wished she could have had more as sleep evaded her.
When the house was quiet and her parents in bed for the night, she heard her door open and Robert walked in, whispering, “Are you awake?” She replied with keenness, “Yes.” Her heart skipped a few beats.
“Good, now it is my turn.”
He only had his boxers on, his body highlighted in the moonlight as she watched him amble closer to her.
He pulled the covers off, removed her panties, and opened her legs. Her eyes never left him. He grinned as he pulled her closer to the edge of the bed and knelt down. She felt exposed, but in a good way, and the next instant, he went down on her.
“I have never had a virgin before,” he said softly, just before he drove his mouth deep into her innermost private parts.
She thought she’d died and gone to heaven at that moment. From that night on for the next week, he would come into her room, teaching her, and coaxing her into oral sex. She learned his body and he learned hers; she simply couldn’t get enough. After that, he visited often, always introducing her to more pleasure. He always stuck to oral sex until she turned eighteen.
That night, after a party that Robert attended, he brought a friend along to meet her. They had a threesome, a threesome so intoxicating that to this day, she could not forget or ever get enough of. That friend became her husband, Jason Anthony. Robert introduced them to more people, people who opened doors for them, and because of this, they were now extremely wealthy.
Sandra and Robert’s relationship continued for many years, until he passed away five years ago. To this day, she missed him because she’d learned to care for him over the years. He had been more than a friend, one who had changed her life profoundly.
She and her husband had continued with this lifestyle―it was the only thing she knew. She had no idea what ordinary couples were doing, or how they managed to stay together. But she knew that it would never appeal to her.
Even their sons had joined in their business, and she would get such a thrill watching them as their young bodies experimented. They were learning to become experts in the field of sex. Only her daughter refused to have anything to do with it. Sandra smirked again. The little twit doesn’t know what she is missing, she thought.
She watched her daughter gliding through the water as she touched the edge of the pool first, a smile adorning her youthful face.
“Honey?” her husband called out
“Yes?” she queried as she switched the TV off.
“What were you watching?”
“Nothing interesting, are you ready?”
“Yes, let’s go,” he said, kissing her in the nape of her neck while cupping her firm breast in his hand and teasing her earlobe with his teeth.
She gently pushed him away. “Not now dear, I have special plans for you… later.” She smiled seductively.
He moved the piece of material covering her breast with his mouth and said, “I can hardly wait.” Biting her, sending shivers running down her body.
Sandra cupped his face, lifted him to her height and kissed him. A kiss filled with such promise, he sighed. “You are the best.” She smiled, rearranged the silk shirt and kissed him again before they walked out the door.
