Excerpt from FWPB
Jillian Grayson sat up in bed, typing away on the keyboard of her laptop computer. She wore a nightshirt that wasn’t all that sexy, but what she was typing was… or at least it started out that way... Dallas lay in bed, unable to sleep and wondering if Katrina was suffering the same fate—and for the very same reason. Did she want him as much as he wanted her? Katrina was but a few steps away, yet he dare not go to her, for he was a guest, and then there was Katrina’s mother, who was just across the hall. For Dallas, sleep came minutes later, but it would be short- lived, for soon Katrina stood over him, completely nude and pondering how to proceed... Dallas must have been in a deep sleep, since he didn’t feel it when Katrina peeled the sheet carefully off him, exposing his muscular body, six-pack abs, and sizeable manhood. She quivered when his impressiveness sprang into view. For a long time, she kneeled next to the bed, just studying his body and savoring his scent. Taking his sex into her hand, Katrina worked it until it was rigid while she watched him sleep. When Dallas woke, he looked into her eyes, swallowed hard, and whispered, "I’ve been waiting for you." Just as fast as his sex expanded, it lost its firmness and flopped against his leg. Katrina looked down at it in disappointment and then moaned in frustration. "What’s wrong?" Dallas said sheepishly, "Sometimes that happens to me. Sorry. Ever since I cheated on my wife with that whore in the pool, I haven’t been able to—" Jillian stopped typing and thought she might be heading in the wrong direction with this. How did her ex-husband get into the story? But then again, most men are assholes, she thought. Picking up the glass of wine from her nightstand, she took a long sip and then replaced it. She highlighted the last paragraph about Dallas’s problem, hit one key, and it was gone. Just like his boner. She laughed out loud. Jillian wasn’t exactly in the correct frame of mind to write at the moment, especially on this particular subject. She stared straight ahead and wondered about the likelihood of Dallas slipping in the shower, striking his head, and dying instantly. Or maybe an earthquake could strike, and Dallas’s amazingly perfect body would be trapped under a giant beam. What the hell kind of name was Dallas anyway? She thought she might want to give her character a real name like Stewart but figured no one would believe that a guy named Stewart could give you six consecutive orgasms in one night. What was she doing, anyway, writing novels about people having amazing sex when she’d never had any? Okay, maybe once or twice twenty years ago, but none since then. She had no right. If people knew that she was the one writing these books, they wouldn’t buy them. She was a fraud. Jillian picked up her wineglass and took another long drink. She grinned, wiped those unhelpful thoughts from her mind, and started typing again... Katrina took his sex in her hand and worked it until it was rigid. As she studied it closely, Katrina noticed two red bumps on the underside of his pathetic excuse for a penis. She recoiled in horror— Jillian hit the backspace key to erase everything after Dallas’s "sex" started expanding. Romance novels about erectile dysfunction and STDs weren’t exactly big sellers. She closed the lid on the laptop and tossed it gently onto a pillow at the foot of the bed. She emptied her wineglass with one last sip and turned on the television.

Sparks the Matchmaker Blog Tour, Review and Giveaway

Tour Schedule

Sparks the Matchmaker by Russell Elkins
Ollie just wants one thing. The girl. Things haven’t been going so well with Anne lately, though; their relationship has become a perpetual study date, and Ollie’s roommates are starting to worry about him. How to fix things? Why, with a marriage proposal, of course. Unfortunately for Ollie, his relationship with Anne has run out of gas. Life feels like it’s counting down to one. And that one is the only person in Ollie’s life he really cares about: Ollie. Perhaps, then, he should get over himself. But first he has to deal with Sparks, the irritating little Yankees fan who invades his life in order to “help” him. And while Keith, his best friend, is doing all he can to help, Ollie’s other friend Richie never fails to show up and threaten to ruin everything just by being himself. Never mind all the drama Sparks brings to the party by forcing Ollie to take a job actually helping people in need. Will Ollie meet the girl? Will it be in history class? On a road trip to Colorado? Can he get over Anne, or should he try to mend the relationship? Should he pursue the new girl Sparks is trying to set him up with? As the strings of the puppeteer tangle with the strings of the heart, only one person can sort out the mess Ollie has made. It seems that the harder he tries, the more Ollie messes things up. Is Sparks a cruel manipulator, or is he really going to help Ollie find his match?

Praise for Sparks the Matchmaker: I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. How many "romance" novels do you read where the protagonist is male, or even where the author is male? At first, I thought that was going to be the unique focus of this story. I was pleasantly surprised, though. The "Sparks" character was a completely unique take on things. Also, I tend to be one of those people who frequently predicts the endings of books and t.v. shows, etc., but I hadn't seen the ending of this story coming. It was a quick and easy read (which was just what I needed right now) but with plenty of intelligence and creativity woven into the story. I think I can say with confidence that even my teenage son would enjoy it, as well as my Mom. Looking forward to the next installment in the series. Definitely not what I expected from a romantic comedy novel, but in a good way! Can't wait for the next one :)

Although his family moved away from Fallon, Nevada, just a few months after he moved out, he still considers that little oasis in the desert to be his childhood hometown. Even after leaving home, Russell always stayed close to his family. He shared an apartment with each of his three brothers at different times during his college career. They formed a band together back in the 1990s and still perform on a regular basis under the name of the Invisible Swordsmen. They sat in the car outside Anne’s apartment, watching her chat with someone. Ollie had never seen this guy before, which was odd, because he used to practically live at Anne’s place. He watched her laugh at something he said and she slapped his knee. An avalanche of bittersweetness let go inside of him. He felt sick inside at the thought that she only needed a few hours to move on from him, but Ollie also knew it had been a long time since she’d laughed like that at something he had done. He’d forgotten what it sounded like; it was music. Ollie felt foolish, which dragged him mercilessly back to the softball field. He rubbed behind his ear. It was still tender. “Why didn't you tell me the catcher was going to hit me?” “I'm not the one knocking people over at home plate,” Sparks said. “Why aren't you going to admit you're the reason it happened; that it’s not anyone else’s fault?” Ollie glared out the window, resenting everything in the world. Am I really asking for so much? Why can’t I just be happy? He blinked his eyes and groaned. It was masochistic, watching Anne laugh as her hand rested on this guy’s knee, but Ollie needed to punish himself for allowing their relationship to decay. It was like attending the viewing at a close friend’s funeral. “I ended up leaving the game looking like a fool.” “Is that why you think I’m here?” Sparks asked. “Isn’t it obvious? Everything’s your fault.” Ollie knew it was a desperate lie as soon as he said it, and he had a feeling Sparks would see through him. “Can’t you just say it wasn't my fault that the catcher hit you?” “Fine. I shouldn't have done it. I shouldn't have knocked that guy down.” “Actually, you should’ve stopped at third base.” “Come on! Are you really going to make me admit every tiny thing I did wrong today?” “Okay, fair enough. I knew he was gonna punch you. I didn't tell you because I didn't want to.” “Just like that. Because you didn't want to.” Ollie kept staring at Anne and the boy. “That's it?” “It's more complicated than that, but yeah. I didn't want to.” “So why were you ‘helping me out’ in the first place?” Ollie looked at Sparks and made air quotes at him. Sparks grinned at him and said nothing. Ollie looked back across the street to where Anne was sitting. “You know what I think?” “Of course. I think you do a lot of thinking without really thinking.” “So now you're going to insult me. That explains everything.” “It does?” “Yeah, it does. You enjoy watching me squirm, you enjoyed the little awkward dance you made me do in the outfield, and you enjoyed seeing me get hit by the catcher, too. I bet any second now you're going to start pouring some lemon juice into the wound that Anne left for me earlier today. You are, aren't you? You chose to come to me because I'm a miserable person and you’re a miserability magnet.” “Is that even a real word?” Ollie raised his hands in exasperation. “See?” He looked Sparks in the eyes. “You’re a parasite looking to feed on my misery.” “You got part of it right.” “What’s that supposed to mean?” “You're right that I chose you because I think you're miserable.” Ollie shook his head and looked back toward Anne: the object of all his affections, the One Thing he couldn’t have. Every second he stared kept the bubbles of pain boiling inside him, but every moment also brought him closer to letting go. Sparks reached out and touched his shoulder. “Hey,” he said. “I know it’s tough to understand it. It’s just a little more complicated than we have time for right now.” Ollie rolled his eyes. “I promise I’ll give you all the details you can stand tonight,” Sparks said. “I just don’t think you want to know right now. At least not until you’re done staring at… at somebody else’s girl.”

I received the book from the Touring Host for an honest review.
This was definitely a different and unexpected romance story. A story of manipulation, selfishness and surprises. For the first time I am really struggling with rating this book.
It is well written, grabs the attention from a unique point of view. But yet it is a slow read, struggling to really connect with Ollie, the main character of the book. Maybe it is because it is written by a man, and I do not mean this in a negative way. Men can be very romantic and creative, but I think because of the way it was written, I really struggled with the book, at first. It was only the last 30 pages that I really could understand the author's writing, making sense of the plot.
Yes, the plot did surprise me at the end. When I first read the synopsis and saw the cover, I thought it would be a thriller but that was not the case. Far from it. It is written with the greatest of care and compassion actually. You enter the world of caregivers that helps disabled people doing the most mundane tasks just to cope in the everyday world, things that we take for granted, doing it without thought. You are touched by Marie and Greg's stories as it unfolds within the book, creating interesting scenes. Really getting to know Ollie and Lynn.
Ollie was a young man that was dumped by his girl friend, and on the very same day it happened, he met Sparks. Now this was a colorful fellow. I had no idea where to place him or what to think of him. But yet in his subtle way he steered Ollie into the right direction, helping Joy and Scott at the end and find much more than he bargained for.
An interesting story with many surprises in store for the reader and a book I can recommend.

“Hey there, Jody,” he called out.
“Oh, hi….Taggart,” she said with surprise, pretending she hadn’t seen him.
“We really have to stop meeting like this.” He smiled and walked towards her down the narrow hall dotted with luggage.
She laughed nervously at the cliché that was proving all too true if she was to keep her sanity. “I guess so. Well, this is my room.” She fidgeted with her keycard as he came up beside her.
“Mine’s just down the hall.” Taggart pointed behind him, but he just stood there, his tall frame close to her. She looked up at him, overly aware of the scent of sandalwood, one of her favorites. Very masculine.
“Mmm...coincidence,” she said, the hallway becoming smaller by the minute when he flashed that boyish smile, with one corner of his mouth raised. Cocky, but undeniably sexy at the same time.
Unable to break the gaze, she tried to insert the keycard into the lock, not paying attention to what she was doing. The card grazed the slot and she forced her eyes away from his.
“I guess you didn’t find your friends after all?” he inquired, leaning casually against the wall, as she slid the keycard all the way in the lock.
Caught red handed at her own lie, she smiled down at her shoes. “No, I didn’t.”
“So you can have that drink with me after all,” he stated flatly, placing his hand over hers as she held the key in the lock.
Her heart pounded in her chest. She couldn’t move a muscle. “I don’t think that’s a good idea,” she said.
He frowned but left his hand on hers. “Because?”
Because? Her mind raced. She couldn’t tell him it was because she was afraid. Afraid how her body trembled when he was near, how her cheeks burned and her sex thrummed.
“I’ll wait,” he said with a devilish grin eyeing the keycard still in the lock.
“I really don’t think it’s a good idea, is all.”
“You already said that,” he said straight faced, but she could see the playful look in his eyes. As he removed his hand, he continued to lean easily on the doorframe, his face close to hers as if he had all the time in the world to wait for her to be ready. He was close enough she could see the barely visible laugh lines when he smiled and the slight five o clock shadow on his chiseled jaw.
“Look Taggart,” she said, just saying his name made her heart beat faster. “I’m not ready for…” her heart beat rapidly thinking about just what she wasn’t ready for… to be intimate with a man.
“Ready for what?” he teased. A flush of desire rushed through her. He was playing with her, flirting with her.

About the Author:
Teri Riggs was destined to be a writer. As a small girl she didn’t read bedtime stories, she made up her own. Who needed Little Red Riding Hood or The Three Little Pigs when there were so many great tales bouncing around in her head? When she grew up and became a mother to three little girls, she continued the tradition of making up bedtime stories. On the occasions she chose to tell conventional fairytales, Teri usually gave them a bit of tweaking here and there or added a new ending. Her girls loved it.
After her daughters had the nerve to actually grow up and leave home, Teri discovered she had a passion for writing and jumped right in. It came as no surprise she chose to write mysteries and happily-ever-after’s since that’s the genres she loves to read.
Teri lives in Marietta, Georgia with her husband, one of her daughters and two dogs that seem to think they rule the world. And some days Teri thinks maybe they do.

Beefy hands wrenched Eve awake from a fevered sleep, pulled her from the cell, and shoved her into a musty-smelling hallway. I’m being moved? A guard pushed her with one hand, keeping a tight grip on an AK-47 rifle with his other. Her shoulder throbbed in perfect cadence with the pains shooting through her broken wrist, and she had one badass headache from being punched in the face a few too many times. Using her good hand, she walked fingers across one cheek, then the other. The right side was totally numb. Her eye had swollen shut, and she couldn’t see a damn thing out of it. She ran her tongue across her teeth and tasted the tart, copper flavor of blood. Three teeth loose. Well, at least they’re still in place. In spite of the relentless pain, she stayed determined to survive whatever Mendoza dished out. She wasn’t a quitter. No, sir. Duncan Falls, Iowa didn’t grow quitters. Eve ignored the constant ache in her ribs, courtesy of a guard’s overzealous kick, and took in a deep breath. She willed herself to stay alert, to keep pushing. Escape. Third times the charm.Eve slapped the guard’s dirty hand. “Hey, Pedro, stop being so damned pushy. Where we going anyway? We got a hot date I’ve forgotten about?”He looked puzzled then shoved her again.“Don’t understand English, do you, Diego? Bet you understand this.” Eve drove her elbow into the guard’s face. Thick rubbery cartilage gave, and she whooped triumphantly.Blood squirted from his nose and he screamed.Eve stepped back. “Yep, I’m pretty sure you understand that.”Unable to grab the guard’s assault rifle, she clutched her injured shoulder, and took off in a slow jog, no longer able to push any harder. Her escape was short lived.

My 4 Star Review
I received the book from the Touring Host for an honest review.
With strong and believable characters, the author kept your attention throughout the book. With daring acts of heroism, torture and greed, this was an action pack book from beginning to end. The heated encounters between our two main characters kept you wondering if the two will finally commit. Both equally stubborn, headstrong and deeply in love as they had to learn how to compromise and work together to safe the day.Eve Taylor was not willing to be told what to do, finding her own way as she trained to be a highly skilled agent working for the DEA. Running from four alpha male brothers and then Mac, she knew she could stand on her own feet without their constant protection. She was tough, lethal and strong. Her time in the cells of her tormentor made you realize that she could handle much more than the average woman could. There was just no stopping her.Dillon McKenna or Mac was in love with this woman, although he refused to admit it after a two-year separation. He wanted her safe, away from the danger zones of the world, the reason she walked away in the first place. His past was a constant reminder that he was not willing to compromise at this point. When they met, again under gruesome circumstances he knew that he had to compromise. With pride, he watched as she rose from the sick bed and completed the operation needed to shut the evil down.Miguel Mendoza was the epitome of evil. A drug lord with no thought of everyone's life but his own. Seeking revenge after Mac had wounded him some time ago during another operation that cost him more than his leg.It was a battle of wills at the end, who would win? The good guys or the bad guys. The pendulum was always shifting to keep the suspense throughout the story. With startling revelations and heated pages as these two met, it was an enjoyable read and a book I will recommend.
Character Interview Miguel Mendoza
You have many titles, and I can name a few but I do not think you would love that, so what title would you give yourself? Master of the World…No, Master of the Universe. What makes a good villain, in your opinion? Or is it a question for the author, after all she did create you? Teri gave my character plenty of pure evil. I’m greedy, controlling, and like the Grinch, I have no heart. I’m a manipulative, shallow, pathological liar. I kill without remorse, shame, or guilt. I am a perfect villain and everyone fears me.Were you always the bad guy or bully, growing up? I’ve always been a sociopath. Growing up, I was the playground bully in school. You were cold-hearted and evil personified in this book, why did you do these things? Because I could. I enjoy a little torture every now and then. Doesn’t everyone? Well, maybe not my victims.Did you like killing people? Yes. I love the look on a person’s face when he realizes he’s a dead man—or she’s knows she’s a dead woman. It’s a powerful feeling to decide when someone will die.It seems you love to rule by fear, did it make you feel superior? I am superior and my underlings know this. Fear keeps them in line. Why did you need all this power and money? I mean you had everything and more but it was never enough, what motivated you? A man can never have too much money or power. It’s a game and one I like to win.You are surrounded with the best that money could buy, but surrounded yourself with people who failed you constantly, was it part of the power struggle? Did it elevate you? I keep my weak, sniveling brother-in-law because my sister and her bebes wants that. (See I do have a heart!) I kill everyone else who fails me. You hate Dillon McKenna, but over a leg wound, I doubt. What really piss you off about this guy, after all he is the good guy? Mr. Good Guy betrayed me and I am not a man easily fooled. But in the end, it was me who let it happen. So maybe this is why I hate him. No one makes a fool of Miguel Mendoza!Did you had feelings for Eve Taylor or was it just another person you could own? She is a very beautiful woman and I like to own beautiful things. Plus, she would have been fun to break, to bend to my will. Ah, but it was not to be.Why did you have to torture her the way you did? It was inhuman. She would not tell me what I wanted to know. Miss Taylor should not have trespassed on my compound and to steal what belongs to me. Besides, it was mucho fun!At the end this woman you love/hate brought you down, how did you feel about that? I’m not a happy man. After all, it is very hot in Hell!

Excerpt 1:The view from my office was spectacular. It was a beautiful clear day, the sky was a brilliant blue and while most people would have cursed having to work, I was still smiling. Line five on my desk phone lit up. My personal line. I picked up the receiver knowing who it would be. A familiar voice spoke in my ear. “Mr Elkin.”I chuckled into the phone. “Mr Jones.” It was the third phone call that day. “Don’t you have enough to do?”“Oh, I have plenty,” Cooper answered. “But you haven’t agreed yet.”“I told you it wasn’t really my scene,” I told him again. “Why don’t you take one of your other friends?” “You mean younger friends,” he replied. “I don’t want any of them to come with me. I want you to come with me.”Cooper had two tickets to see some god-awful too-loud band at Madison Square Garden, and right or wrong he wanted me to go with him. “Is this not something we could discuss over dinner?”“I like annoying you at work,” he said cheerfully. “Usually if I pester you enough, you’ll just agree with me to shut me up.”I groaned. “Is that a skill you work on, or is it a natural-born talent?”“It’s a Gen Y thing.”“It’s a Cooper Jones thing.”He chuckled into the phone. Then his tone of voice changed to a playful whisper. “Come on, baby. You know you want to. It’s Linkin Park. They’re my favourite.”“Lincoln who?”He burst out laughing this time, and I sighed. “I’ll talk to you about it tonight,” I told him. “Will you come over?”“That depends.” I could tell he was still smiling.“On what?”“On you saying yes to the concert.”“I have a lot to do today…”“Then agree with me.”“Goodbye, Cooper.”I hung up, still smiling, and not even half a minute later, my private line lit up again. I pressed the flashing button and laughed. “All right, I’ll go with you if it will shut you up so I can get some work done.”Except Cooper didn’t laugh. There was only silence. I quickly checked the line to confirm it was on my personal line and not a business call, just as another familiar voice said, “Excuse me?”
Shit.

He looked surprised by my question. “No. Should I be?”

Then Cooper took his hand off my thigh and looked out of the window as he spoke. “If you don’t want to…”
I pulled the car off to the side of the road, right near the driveway to the Casa. I think I startled him. He looked at me, wide-eyed. “Cooper, listen to me,” I said seriously. “I don’t care what anyone else thinks. I know some people will have a hard time with us being together, because we’re gay men, and because of the age difference. But I don’t care. I’m proud to call you my boyfriend. For the life of me I can’t figure out why you’d want to be with me, but you do, and I’m more than happy to walk in there, holding your hand. But I don’t want you to feel pressured.”
“I don’t feel pressured,” he said. “And I can’t figure out why you’d want to be with me either, but you do.”
I nodded. “Yes, I do.”
He smiled, and leaned over the console and kissed me. “Thank you.”
I sighed and looked out of the windshield. “Well, this is it.”
Cooper followed my gaze, to the stone gate posts, to the chiselled sandstone sign on the post that read Casa de Elkin.
“It’s named after you?”
I nodded. “I designed this house,” I told him. “We named it Casa de Elkin, but have called it the Casa for years.”
Cooper gave me a weak smile. “Well then,” he said, trying to sound upbeat. “Let’s do this.”
I slipped the car into first gear and pulled into the drive. I parked the car near the closed garage doors and by the time I’d popped the trunk, Ryan was walking out to meet us. He gave me a bit of a hug, then bumped fists with Cooper. “Hey,” he said. “Most of the guys will get here in the morning. Mom said it might be better if they all crash in the pool room, or wherever they pass out,” he said with a knowing smile. “But you guys have a guest room in the house.”
A guest room.
Ryan looked at me a little apologetically. “Sorry.”
“Don’t you apologise,” I told him. “It’s not my house anymore.”
We grabbed our bags and the gift box from the trunk and walked towards the front door. Cooper asked me quietly, “Have you been back here in the last five years?”
“I spent two weeks here right after we separated,” I told him. “But not since then.”
“Come on,” Ryan said, opening the door. He turned to us and whispered, “Mom’s in the kitchen.”
I took a deep breath and followed Ryan through the front living room and into the large open kitchen, where Sofia was dicing fruit.
She looked well. She was wearing a white dress and her trademark gold jewellery and her brown hair was pulled back in a ponytail. She looked at me, then at Ryan and finally at Cooper. She recognised him immediately. “Oh my, Cooper? Is that you?”
“Mrs Elkin,” he said politely.
She gave me a tight smile, but then leaned in and kissed Cooper’s cheek. “It’s so good to see you. Ryan never mentioned you were coming.” Then she looked at me. “Did you bring Cooper with you? I thought you were bringing your friend.”
There was a beat of absolute silence then I said, “I did.” Sofia looked at me then at Ryan and Cooper, then back to me. “I brought Cooper…my boyfriend.”
Sofia laughed, but when I took Cooper’s hand, her smile died a slow, painful death. She looked kind of horrified. “Is this some kind of joke?”

I am many things; a mother, a wife, a sister, a writer.I have pretty, pretty boys who live in my head, who don’t let me sleep at night unless I give them life with words.I like it when they do dirty, dirty things…but I like it even more when they fall in love.I used to think having people in my head talking to me was weird, until one day I happened across other writers who told me it was normal.I’ve been writing ever since…Where can you find me?

EXCERPT 1
Her heart was beating fast again. While she would enjoy touring the museum with him, she wouldn’t be able to focus on the art. The need for a man thrived within her. With him at her side, she couldn’t help but admire his handsome and strong body. Then the flow of naughty thoughts would consume her. Damn her raging hormones.“Those women told me you are a famous actor here in France,” she said as he took her into the next room filled with more paintings but empty of visitors.“I started modeling in my youth. I played on television shows before I took a break and attended college. I returned to acting in my late twenties and have been in the business for the last ten years.”He stopped in front of a portrait of a half-naked woman.“You must have a lot of fans,” Gwen said.“Yes. It’s difficult to go places sometimes. But this place is big and I can move around without too much attention. Pictures are not allowed.”He turned to the framed art on the wall. As he surveyed at it, she studied him and tried to guess his age. To be an actor for so long after completing his education had to place him in the mid to late thirties. The facial hair gave him an older, more experienced quality. Women tended to appreciate men who appeared with confidence and brains. Add dark hair, tranquil blue eyes and lips worthy of sucking to said male and most women would drool on the spot. Hence the reason her panties were damp and she couldn’t help staring at him.“This is not one of my favorite portraits of a woman, yet I look at it every time I come here. This woman holds fake beauty. Her skin is too white and it has a waxy sheen. She has no moles or hair. Her breasts are too small and the nipples seem unreal. Her expression is impassive. How can this be when she’s laying half naked in front of a man?” He shook his head and said something in French.“Maybe this is a creation from the artist’s imagination and not a real person.”“But why not make the woman more lifelike so we can appreciate her true beauty. Why paint her as something she’s not?”He turned to face Gwen. “I’ve seen plenty of the women portrayed in pictures in the Louvre and their beauty doesn’t compare to you.”A rush of heat reached her cheeks. “Do you say that to all the women?”“No. And I’ve met plenty.” The corner of his mouth twitched. While holding her hand, he lifted his other and touched her shoulder. Slowly, he glided his fingers over her skin and tendrils of longing scurried to her breasts. “I greatly desire to see your beautiful body. Without clothes.”He lowered his gaze to her chest and the yearning within her increased tenfold. But hesitation gnawed at her conscience. She was in the Louvre and she barely knew him. She took a deep breath as she what to do. What to say.“I assure you, my girls are not like hers.”A smile formed on his face. “They are bigger, yes.”“Rounder, yes.”“Full. And your nipples, are they hard?” He moved his fingers to her neck and gently grazed them lower, bringing the tips underneath the fabric of her sundress that covered her left tit.“Yes. Very.” And aching for his touch.“Do they wish to be touched?”“Yes, and sucked.”The yearning in her core spread like a wildfire. His touch made her long for more, made her wonder what it would feel like for his hands to hold and squeeze her breasts. Staring at his lips, she imagined them closed around her perky buds and doing all the wicked fun things a man liked to do. Fuck, she wanted him.“I would enjoy playing with your girls, as you call them,” he said with a sly grin. “But first, I’d have to lick every inch of your body. I want to taste you and the desire inside you. Are you wet, Gwen?” He slipped his fingers deeper under her sundress and into her bra.She squeezed her thighs together. Damn, he was adding fuel to her carnal fire.“I’m a horny forty-four year old woman. Yes, I’m very wet right now.”

Excerpt –
I’m in Vegas staying at the Hilton next to the convention center. There’s a place in the hotel called Star Trek: The Experience, based on the television series and movies. There are games and a Star Trek-themed bar along with artifacts from the show and a “virtual experience.” Two years ago during COMDEX, the largest conference I attend, I made friends with a bartender at the Star Trek Experience. Dressed as an alien character called a Ferengi, with a large prosthetic forehead and enormous ears, he stands behind the bar on a riser. Once he is off the riser to grab a drink or walk the floor you realize he is five feet tall at best. I only know him as Phil the Ferengi, but he may be the best bartender I have ever met. He also owns a string of car washes.“Hu-mon,” he greets me in character, “what can I get you? Drink? Holodeck? Games?”“Hello Phil, good to see you again.”“Ah, yes hu-mon, I thought I recognized you. What are you drinking tonight?”“I’ll have a gin and tonic please.”He steps up on his platform with the drink when he returns. I know I can talk to him because it’s a slow night and I know his name.“How are your travels, hu-mon?”“They’re good, thank you. How is your car wash?”“They are very profitable. All of this desert dust can eat away at a car’s finish. But there’s also a new city ordinance; I have to “go green.”“What will that mean for you?”“I have to add these tanks that collect used water, then filter it, and use it again. They call it gray water.”“I can imagine why.”“Are you sad, hu-mon? Or tired? You don’t look well.”“I’m losing sleep. I’ve never had this problem before. I can usually sleep anywhere, but in the last week I can’t get a full night.”“What’s her name?”
“It’s that obvious?”“It is usually women or money. What’s her name?”“Tatiana. She is both unavailable and my obsession.”Phil grabs the bottle of gin and puts in on the bar in front of me. “Do you know Plato?”“The philosopher? A little.”“Through Aristophanes, who was a peer of Plato’s, we know this one interesting story about early hu-mons. Hu-mons were not separate from one another, but were made in pairs. They had two heads, four arms, and four legs. And they wouldn’t walk around so much as they would roll around tucked up in a ball.”“This is not Star Trek?”“No, ancient Greek philosophers describing the earliest version of humankind.”“Go on.”“So here they were—women and women, men and men, men and women—all sorts of these paired creatures rolling at great speed across the countryside of ancient Greece. The speed at which they move, the power they have, starts building confidence in humanity. The confidence turns to pride. And it’s with this pride, what the Greeks call hubris, that they decide they are better than the gods and try to overthrow them.”A couple comes to the bar interrupting Phil and he takes their order. Once they are settled, he returns. “So the hu-mons think they can conquer the gods. But when the hu-mons attack the gods, Zeus strikes them with such great power that he splits them all in two. Now the hu-mons are sad, desperate, and alone, and they start to kill themselves because they’re having a hard time without the warmth and comfort of one another. Some remove themselves from the community. Others get lost in the wilderness and are never seen again.”“So what happens?”“Zeus is wise. He and the other gods need the hu-mons to worship them. While they are asleep, he changes their bodies to what we know today, so that we walk upright and find it easy to reproduce.”“Interesting.”“Well, here’s the part that applies to you, sleepy hu-mon. After all of those changes, the gods left a memory, a longing inside each of them for their other half. That craving for the other half is instilled so deep inside, that we end up traveling the world searching to fill that absence. And when we are fortunate enough to find that other half, we know instantly—getting lost in the entwinement of friendship and love and intimacy—that we have finally found home. People like this will spend their whole lives together. If you ask them what they find attractive or appealing about one another, they can’t explain it—they just know it’s right.”“It’s a beautiful idea, that something is missing from each of us, and we have to trust others to fill that. I guess the heart wants what the heart wants; there’s no getting around it.”“Easier to say, but I like my story better.”“Thanks for your time and the drinks,” I say, getting up.“Any time, hu-mon. We’re always open.”

Guest Post
“Absence makes the heart grow fungus”
Travel can be so romantic. Around the next corner of a hotel corridor you may bump into someone famous or from the past to alter a day or life. A romantic place captured in our shared imagination like Hawaii or Paris could be the start of the next amazing adventure. When I think about travel, these possibilities are what make it so captivating.
There are also the realities. For many years I would be on the road for my job three weeks each month. There would be times that I was more familiar with TSA agents and hotel desk clerks in certain hotels than anyone back home. Bad food, stale air, germs on everything – that is real.Steven Page, Ed Robertson lyrics “absence makes the heart grow fungus” from the song “Blame it on me” are an insightful twist. Distance from a situation, a time, or a person can make us long and burn for them. Enough time and distance can alter your perceptions. Fantasy mixes with memory and it’s no longer a reality. For example, when I returned to my elementary school, the doors, toilets, desks, all seem to have gotten smaller than what I remember. Someone I had a major crush on years ago seems less inspiring today. A realization my parents had gotten so much older during one semester at university.
Parts of “Peter in Flight” explore this idea. Peter, the protagonist, carries a flame for his married boss, Tatiana (no spoiler here, it’s in the first chapter.) Readers have asked me if there is a real Tatiana. I suspect we all have a Tatiana in our lives. It’s why the story is so relatable. Sometime there is just no good reason why we are attracted to a person. It could be physical, dangerous, forbidden, or chemical. For some reason, you are attracted to the wrong person at the wrong time. And that lyric pops in my head, distance away from that person makes me want them more. It’s not the reality of bad smells, being irresponsible, making bad choices or saying awful things. It’s the fantasy of a great body, nice underwear, the amazing smells, and witty banter, understanding me completely and totally. In this fantasy I can give into the moment and the person so easily.
For Peter, this time away, the memory of this woman he has an inexplicable crush on only gets deeper. It grows like a fungus on his heart as he gets to enjoy only good times talking with her frequently and seeing the photos of fun times on best days. He rarely has to see bad hair days, a poor choice of outfit, the fights, or the arguments. Peter lives in the trade show world where food is delivered, everyone is pleasant, the beds are made and outfits cleaned for him.
Travel, like literature, can do this. A week in Europe, Disney World, or camping in the mountains draws our attention to the moment. The reality of daily life melts away. It’s a world of possibilities where you can go to Rick’s Café and restart a revolution, follow a path of gold to an almighty wizard, or find a notch in a tree with figures placed there by Boo Radley. Travel makes us better and well-rounded people, citizens, and lovers of the world.

Author Quote
"I wrote this story while I traveled extensively for work between 1998 and 2008 taking notes on the things that happened on each trip. I could not include all the good stories. Looking back on my time on the road, I always liked to think of myself as George Clooney from Up in the Air, but in reality, I was John Candy from Planes, Trains, and Automobiles."

Who will be walking up the aisle? Will any of them get their happy ever after – or will an uninvited guest at the wedding ruin it all?
Amazon US - / Amazon UK -
EXCERPT 1I’d always thought of Charlie as my surfer dude, he had that lazy, casual, ‘I’ll sort it later’ air about him, coupled with the type of blond good looks that had girls falling at his feet. Slightly more ripped and he’d be deadly, if he could be bothered. He put his hands behind his head and sprawled. “She was about to invite the vicar, the bloody vicar.”“Sorry, just remind me what we’re talking about.” I tried not to grin. This was Charlie as wound up as he got, and I was starting to get just a hint of an idea about why he’d left home years ago, and had been determined to buck the trend and live his life how he wanted. Charlie might seem happy go lucky, but underneath that boyish demeanour was a man you could only push so far. He knew what he wanted, if he could be bothered to get it, and being organised wasn’t it. His parents, I’d been told, owned half a county, and his mother was used to organising. He’d left the fold in protest, and only gone back because of Anna. And I suspect because he did actually love his family quite a lot.“The engagement party. It’s supposed to be a bit of fun and any second now she’ll be bringing in a boy band and some dancing geisha girls.”“Now that could be fun.” Charlie shook his head slowly and I could tell he was trying not to grin. A startlingly clear mental picture of geisha girls and the vicar was forming in my mind, and it was so not right it was embarrassing.“Or the local hunt and the Master of Hounds.” I glanced back at Dane as his deep voice entered the conversation. I couldn’t help but look at him, whenever I had an excuse. He’d levered himself away from the door frame and started to look interested.“Oh shit, don’t.” Charlie rolled his eyes and I swore he shuddered.“You could have the lot, horns, horses and hounds. A full fanfare.” He was warming up to the subject, and I had this vivid image of a full hunt in red coats, flying horses, hunting horns blaring out, hounds in full voice with their tails in the air all stampeding straight through the middle of the wedding reception. I squeezed my eyes shut to get rid of it, just as the master of the hounds jumped over the five-tier-high wedding cake and a trailing hoof sent the top tier into the crowd. Nobody had five tiers, did they? Not even Charlie’s mum?

I received the book from the author for an honest review.Living separate lives is a book with a definite message. A message that many Christians are not willing to face or live, due to its importance. The author did a great work highlighting this fact through the lives of the four friends and the trail they faced. When God requires obedience, he does not ask if your friends will be all right with it, if they will be offended when doing the right thing. He asks that you will do as He instructs. We all have received grace in the same measure, not one is excluded from this grace. It does not matter the sin.Jesus lived this while on earth, not only in preaching it but also in demonstrating it through His actions. To become the grace of God, that we all needs. The message of the book.Four friends were coming together to reconnect after a long time of separation. Each had different experiences in life, each trying to work it out the best they can with what they have. Yes, they made mistakes. Mistakes are part of growing up, of God’s way to mold us in His image, not to create puppets that all look alike. Each of us has something to bring to His table, and if we allow it, we can learn from each other. When Jordan’s world was rocked, Kaylan and Tiffany did what most would do; they turned their fury towards Candace without listening to her story, listening with the ear of Christ. It cost them to learn valuable lessons from God, lessons that can propel them in their walk with Him.
The author gave just enough for you as a reader to search for more answers, to learn the truths and live according to that which are revealed.

Why did you write your book?
I’ve always had a book inside of me because I’ve been writing poetry for a long time and I’ve always kept a journal. I was an avid reader and became bored with what I was selecting to read or what my book club members had picked. So soon after that, our book club died. Then I was in a brief relationship with a man who had a lot of drama. This relationship took me on a whirlwind and when it was over, 2 people told me on the same day that I needed to write a book about it, so I did. I developed my characters and the rest was magic. Writing gave me peace and I felt empowered to write about different dynamics of relationships in hopes to help someone with their drama. I figured there was definitely a need for my story. My goal was to give it all the elements to become a page turner, something that I haven’t had the pleasure in reading in a long time.
