Revealing Part Six of Taming The Fae An Exsilium Short Story

Nanini “Would you like some warm milk or something?” Lada asked again. “No, I am fine. It’s just… I don’t know. I feel all this anger towards him, and yet when he brought me home, I felt… something else.” My mind was still running over the details. Gently, he shifted me to my room. “Everything is going to be alright, Nanini. I will not try and force this upon you, and we will let this grow the way fate decides to take it,” he whispered as he stepped away from me. “And do not fear for Kasadya. You know she won’t be beaten, even by her hellhound. Chax will bring her home.” I didn’t answer. I was still pissed off at him and Vulcan, and in shock to know my best friend was facing her death in the morning. Would she be okay, or- no, Max was right. She won’t let her hellhound destroy her. If there is one person that can kick an ass, it’s Kasadya. “Sleep well, Nanini,” were his last words before he shifted out. Finally alone, I did what any freaking girl would do. I planted my butt on the ground and cried. Yes, even warrior females have the right to break down once in a while, and this was my once and a while. I didn’t want a mate. I didn’t want to be responsible for another’s life. I wanted to just be me, and do my thing. And now? Now I am the one who must keep a hellhound in place and make sure the human hosting the creature stays alive. Holy crap! I can’t do this! It was at that very moment that Lada opened the door and decided that a choking hug was the solution. I stood at the window, watching the first rays of the sun peeking out behind the horizon. With a silent prayer, I prayed that Kasadya kicks butt and comes home. I need her bad ass attitude to get my own back. This night just totally drained me. “I forbid it.” Vulcan’s words echoed in my mind. I suddenly felt very guilty for saying that I would kill Max. This wasn’t his fault. Destiny is a freaking big bully, if you ask me. Okay, so I have the guilt trip thing going. “Nanini, you have to talk about this, girl. You have been standing there for a while having a mental battle with yourself and it’s not going to be of any help. Just plant your butt down here and let’s talk.” Lada patted the bed. I did as she said and planted my butt on the bed. My feet, however, were still jumping on the floor. I could blame my adrenaline, but I knew that this was my nerves.
“Okay, so you and Max, hey?” Lada tried to start this very awkward discussion. “Un-freaking- believable, hey?” I chewed on my bottom lip, unable to look her in the eyes. But still, I could feel the blush creeping up from my neck towards my face. Lada’s giggle didn’t help at all. “Nanini, it’s okay, you know. It’s actually what we here on earth and Exsilium call normal. Did you really think that you would be doing Mission Impossible without Tom Cruise?” Lada had an epically bad way of explaining something, epically. “You had to use Tom Cruise? Why not Batman and Robin? Why not Scooby and Shaggy? You had to use Tom Cruise?” Yep, the girl knew how to turn my pissed off button on. She burst out laughing, creating a smile on my face. “Okay, okay. Not Tom Cruise then. But you knew it was coming. You would not have been able to stay single so long. We are fallen, and unfortunately, urgently need more fallen for the cause. It was going to happen. At least you got a pretty cool guy.” “Cool guy?” My eyes was going to pop out of my skull before the sun fully came up. “Now, you know he is pretty cool. A gentlemen even. Don’t even try that Godzilla crap on me; you know I am right. Just look how he treated Kas when they were, well… sort of together. He is stubborn, make no mistake, but he is not some hot jock that will be breaking your heart around every corner.” She had a point, which I will never admit. He was, per say, not a huge jerk, but he had this really annoying way of trying to control situations. Sometimes I didn’t know who was worse, Chax or Max. They are way too bossy. He wasn’t a real jerk like Marcus or the other guys, but still, he was a jerk in other aspects. “You’re doing it again,” Lada complained “Doing what?” “Over-thinking it. You know it’s true. Why don’t you just try, Nanini? Don’t try and bite his head off. Just try and be friends with him.” “Friends? What the hell did you drink tonight? I want some too.” I jumped up, making a joke of it. Friends. Hell no. Vulcan chose that moment to inform us via Corra that Kasadya was about to go born. Both of us jumped up and walked to the window, naturally taking each other’s hand. “Come on, Kas, you can do this,” Lada breathed. “You kick that hellhound’s ass and get the hell back here. We need you; I need you,” I silently sent out to her. Outside I could see Max standing at a tree, looking at the landscape, his face worried. An awful and quite creepy roar echoed in the distance, sending birds into the sky and animals scattering out of the woods. Oh crap, Kasadya’s born is out. Max’s head jumped into the direction of the roar, and I could actually feel his distress. He was worried for Kasadya. We were both worried for Kasadya. Suddenly, his head snapped up and he looked right at me. Something epically weird was happening. His worried face slowly changed and a small smile remained. “Good girl, Nanini, you are doing it.” Lada patted my back “Doing what?” My eyes couldn’t leave his. “You are feeding him counter emotions, calming him.” He nodded at me and then walked back into the house.
Holy shit.

With all gathered to hear their Sire speak, God rose and addressed his Angels. Before all, he proclaimed His Son, Jesus Christ, was equal to Him. That Christ’s words should be obeyed as if they were His own. Christ would command the heavens, with the same authority as Him. All the Angels bowed down before Christ and accepted their Sire’s proclamation, all except for one…
An Archangel was furious with this proclamation. He was his Sire’s right hand, the deliverer of justice, the commander of many legions. He had served his Sire for centuries, and never failed him. It should be to him that God bestow power, not a Son whom had never even seen battle.
With his heart filled with hatred and jealousy, he gathered all the angels in secret. He told them that their days of sweet liberty were at an end. That God has now placed Christ as their ruler and that they should now obey his wishes. Many angels were angered at such a false statement, but many also agreed with the Archangel. He had led them for many years; why should they now question his leadership?
The faithful Angels fled to God and told Him what was happening, and together they prepared for war. With the sun rising on a new day, God and his Angels stood ready for battle against the Archangel and his followers. The battle only lasted a day, the Archangel and his followers defeated before the sun set for the night.
Seeing the angels on their knees before Him, He gave them one final chance… “Repent and declare your loyalty, and I will forgive you, my children.” He told his beautiful angels, tears falling with each word. This was His family. This was His love. How could they betray Him? Some of the Angels cried their penance, begging Him to forgive them for their deceit. They claimed that the Archangel deceived them, and they followed him into battle, as they have done for centuries.
God took pity on them, but still believed that their deceit must not go unpunished. He had spoken many times about the importance of punishment, that lessons learned must be earned... “I herewith grant you mercy, but as punishment you will be sentenced to an earthly realm. I will take your beauty as payment for my children lost today. In the place of your beauty, I will give you purpose. In mercy, and because I love you still, I give you life in this realm. Let this be known, that I was merciful this day,” God finished.
He placed them in an earthly realm, and called it Exsilium. In this realm they would carry their deceit, and earn their place with him. He took their beauty and replaced them with elements of his earth. Half would be of animal and element, and would resemble punishment. The other, in a humanoid form, and would resemble mercy. He called them his Fallen.
The Archangel, and those whom did not repent, were not that lucky. God looked into the eyes of His once faithful angels and only saw destruction, hatred, jealousy, and heartache. He knew that His beloved ones had died this day, and that others needed to be protected. But how could you destroy one you loved? He placed the Archangel, and his followers, in another earthly realm, but where Exsilium was above the earth, this one was in the center. With one wave of His hand, their beautiful forms were replaced with forms as ugly as their hatred and deceit. Using His word and blood, He sealed this realm from any other.
As He looked into the many eyes of hatred, He spoke his final word... “This realm will be called Hell, and you will be called demons. You, my once faithful Archangel, you will be called the Devil. Your angel name will be erased from the past, present, and future. You will be forgotten,” He proclaimed and left them to their demise.
Many years have passed since that day. God created mankind and cherished his new children. The male and female were his new hope; in them he would find peace again. But the Devil had grown strong through the years, and somehow managed to enter God’s garden. Here, he found the female God created, using her to strike back. He whispered words of deceit in her ears, and watched as God’s new children stepped into sin. With her first bite, a crack appeared in the seal around Hell, and demons escaped to earth.
From that day onward, the Devil and his demons created chaos amongst God’s new children, leading one after the other into sin. God looked upon this and decided to fight for his loved ones. He went to Exsilium and spoke to the Fallen... “You, my children, have proven your loyalty in the years that have passed, and so I came to offer you another chance at Heaven. If you slay the Devil and his demons to protect mankind, I will give you a place in my Heaven once again. With your last breath on this earth, you will join me and your brethren in Heaven,” He finished. The Fallen agreed and God gave them the power to move in and out of Exsilium to battle the demons. The war between Good and Evil began.
But as mankind spread over the earth, sin became their followers. And with each sin, the demons grew stronger and created more demons to torture mankind. The Fallen were now fighting against millions; they needed assistance to ensure victory. God had watched the battle from Heaven and saw that they were failing because of their numbers. He also saw that the demons grew stronger than the Fallen. He intervened and created a new creature. This creature would have features encompassing the best of both worlds. One half was as strong and loyal as the Fallen, while the other was as hard and enduring as a demon. This was His ultimate weapon. This would be His greatest creation. To ensure that these creatures could not be swayed, He placed Heaven’s soul into them. He called them His hellhounds.
The hellhounds delivered justice swiftly, as strong and just as the Fallen. Yet hard and durable like the demons, they conquered the earthly realm and the demons retreated. Not one hellhound could be swayed. All stayed true to their calling. God, knowing that the Devil and many more demons had retreated, gave His hellhounds life, and offered them a place among the Fallen.
Until this day they still watch over mankind, protecting them from evil. Will we be worth it?

She just found her love and place in the Fallen world; will she be able, and willing, to sacrifice it all?

I stopped completely and looked at him. Reaching for my necklace, I held it.
“I am so sorry, Chax. This is the only way; we can’t win any other way. I know; I have seen the end too many times,” I replied.
His face fell even more and he looked around, searching for a way out.
“I want to thank you... for being there for me. For searching for me when I went missing. For enduring all of my crap. I am sorry I messed up so many times. But not this time; this I promise. But most of all, thank you for loving me.” Even my mental voice broke down on the last part.
Chax started to scream and pound at the invisible wall, while others joined him. I looked at Nanini, shocked that she couldn’t get out.
“Take care of Max for me,” I sent to her.
Tears formed and ran down her cheeks, but she nodded.
“Kas, let us help you!” Lotan yelled. My friends, my family were still trying to save me. Tears ran down my own face now.
“I love all of you. Thank you for always being there for me.” Finally my mental voice began to a sob.
I turned away, afraid that the sight of them would stop me.
“Kasadya! Don’t do this to me. I beg you!” Chax yelled at me.
Demons were closing in around me, but my heart was so broken I just let the tears and heartache spill out of me.
“I am so sorry, Chax. Forgive me.” With that, I stormed forward.
I used my g-force punches to clear the masses out of my way. When that stopped working, I started shifting. Demons grabbed at me and some got in a slice or two. But I wasn't stopping.
I saw Ballen trying to flee from me. He thought I was heading for him. Good. I needed him on the other side when I blew it up. Using my wings for momentum, I sent a massive g-force punch into the horde that remained between me and my target. They flew backwards, clearing the way for me to advance. I swiped at a few too close and took their heads. Blood sprayed all over me. Searching for the hole to make sure I was heading in the right direction, I saw the shoulders and arms of something freaking big, already beginning to breach.
I need to move faster!
I lifted up with my wings. They were tired, but I had no other option. Now I had the flying demons to contend with. We fought and sliced and I sent a few down to earth without a head. At last, I was advancing on the hole. Pain shot through my left wing and I tumbled to the ground, hitting hard. At the last moment I made sure that the front of my body hit the ground and not the back. Demons jumped me all at once. Ballen was yelling at them to stop me. I used everything I had left and flung out with my wings and arms. They went flying and just in front of me was the hole with the devil stuck in it. Ballen was standing at the entrance watching me, his face a mask of shock.
With a deep breath, I reached for the pouch and took hold of the balls. Now armed and ready, I just had a few feet to go. I stormed through the demons, not caring if they sliced me open. I wasn't stopping for a fight anymore. I held the balls to my chest, sealing them from any other impact. Then, finally, I was at the entrance of the hole. With the last of my strength, I leaped into the air and went flying straight for it.
There were many things that go through your mind that moment before you die. I remembered my first step into Exsilium. Meeting Lada and Nanini. Meeting Chax and hating my first day. I remembered our fun at the beach, the Hellhouse and the grub spot. Seeing Lada and Lotan kissing for the first time. Meeting Max and Ryan, and then all of the rest. My heart no longer troubled by Kali or Seth or all the others who had betrayed me. I remembered finding Chax and the Fallen again. Seeing my parents again. So many memories bombarded me at that last moment. I remembered my day and night with Chax, and how it felt to be loved.
“I love you,” I sent a final message to him.
He was still screaming my name, begging for me to stop.
I remembered why I was doing this. For them I gave my heart, my life. Ballen's shocked face was in front of me, right in my path. Just when I reached him, I dropped the balls and slammed into him.

Only life would never be normal again for Lana, because she came out of the ordeal with an unsettling knowledge that she had never been truly happy before. The deeply terrifying events she had endured had done something she hadn’t expected; they had awakened something dark inside of her, a lust that could only be satisfied under the protection of a black hood. She found that only in that darkness, could she truly be free from her inhibitions.
When Daniel Morrow, the man who had held her captive is released from prison, Lana’s nightmare begins again, and she fears she will never be safe again. Her life, her future now relies on one man, the man she had once dismissed as unable to satisfy her longing, her former boyfriend Sergio Marsilis. Follow along with Lana as the darkness is awakened inside of her, and then as she searches for the one thing that has always eluded her, perfect sexual freedom.

“Are you on his visitor’s list?”
“I believe I am.”
Lana Martin had no idea if she was in fact on his visitor’s list or not, but the letter she had received in the mail indicated that she was. He had been brief with his short letter. No hello, no apology, just a simple line that told her she was on the list. Whether the action itself had been borne of arrogance or some continued intent to inflict pain, she didn’t know any more than she knew why she was standing here now.
The uniformed woman behind the glass – most likely bullet proof, she presumed – only took a second to verify her name and then motioned to a door to Lana’s right. A low buzzing could immediately be heard, followed by the dull clunk of the door’s locking mechanism being disengaged. She crossed the short distance and pulled the door open. It opened into a small room that was cut in half by a thick glass wall. Every three feet, the wall was sectioned by wooden partitions. A chair sat between each set of partitions and she could see a phone on either side of the glass in each section as well. Hollywood had apparently gotten this visitor’s room right in the movies, because it looked just like the ones she had seen on television.
There were seven places for visitor’s to sit with a corresponding chair on the other side of the glass for the prisoner they were visiting. Two of these sections, both off to Lana’s left, were already in use. A guard motioned for her to take the chair directly under the red stenciled 6, one chair from the end. As she took the chair, she saw why she had not been searched before coming in here as she had been expecting. There was no slot or opening of any kind in the glass. The visitors couldn’t pass anything along to the prisoners even if they were inclined to try. So no cakes with a file inside, no pack of Marlboros or even so much as a pinup poster of Christy Canyon, the old school porn star could be given to the prisoners here. And clearly they couldn’t even hear through the glass, thus the necessity of the phones.
The separation between her and the man who would be soon sitting across from her and the safety it implied did little to ease her fears. It wasn’t him she was afraid of, not in this moment. He had done unthinkable things to her and if given the chance he would probably do worse, but it wasn’t what she knew he was capable of that scared her. She was more afraid of why she was here in the first place. She had asked herself that several times on the drive over, and again at the building’s front doors, but she still didn’t have an answer for it and that scared the hell out of her.
Tom Tinkerton would absolutely flip his lid if he knew she was here. Hell, if he even knew about the letter, she was certain something most horribly final would have already happened to the man she was here to see. Tink had that sort of pull, and she couldn’t fool herself into thinking he wouldn’t kill the man if he knew he had contacted her at all.
She glanced back at the door and the guard standing beside it, wondering if there was still time to just get up and leave. But time wasn’t the issue. She didn’t want to leave, not yet anyway. And then he was sitting in front of her, inches away and separated only by a wall of glass. Daniel Morrow, the man who had reached deep down inside of her and ripped out her very soul. What had remained, what had been revealed, she still couldn’t fully define or understand, but when she saw him retrieve the telephone, she did the same and waited for his voice to come through the line.
“Lana, I knew you would come.”
That same smooth voice she had come to loathe while she had been in his captivity still held within it the same confident undertone she had recognized at the very beginning. In this setting, with any and all chances of danger absent, it was as if she was hearing his voice for the first time, and the way her name rolled off of the tip of his tongue was somehow incredibly alluring. She wanted to bolt for the door, but she couldn’t move, trapped there in that chair by his mesmerizing stare.
“I want you to do something for me,” he said, his penetrating eyes locked on hers. Was he serious? She wanted to scream at him, tell him he had no right to ask anything of her. Instead, she continued to sit there in silence, her gaze still fixed on his. She couldn’t say anything.
“I want you to slip your hand under the table while no one is watching and touch yourself.”
She felt the anger threaten to boil up from inside her, but it was only a threat, so she tried to make herself feel surprised, but that too was nothing more than a wasted effort. Had she really expected anything different? Had she really wanted anything different? She looked down at her hand and then she did feel genuine surprise. Her hand was slowly moving toward the edge of the table.
“I have to go,” she managed, without looking up at him.
It was all she could do to keep from running as she left the room and then crossed the lobby. Once outside however she broke for her car. Lana dropped her keys twice before she was able to get the car unlocked. When the door mercifully closed behind her, she started the engine and took out her phone. Before she could hit the send button after scrolling down to Tink’s name, her hand was already between her legs. A low moan escaped her lips as she heard him answer the call.
“If you can sneak away for a bit,” she whispered into the phone, “I really need you inside me right now.”

Revealing Part Five of
Taming The Fae
An Exsilium Short Story

Part Five
Max
This was not going to be easy.
I kept my eyes on the little vixen as she stomped down the hallway after
Vulcan. Her small frame sassing around even when she was clearly pissed off. She was going to be a handful, or two. I
rubbed my face and quickly pulled away my hand when it touched my bruised lip. Damn, the little girl could give a punch.
Following them into the cafeteria, I stopped just inside and kept my eyes
on her. She was fuming, her adrenaline disorder going into overdrive. Instead
of the usual jumping around, she was trying to step holes into the tile floor.
Up and down she prowled, giving me the promise of retribution every time she
would turn towards me. Hell, this was not
going to be fun at all.
Suddenly tired, I plopped down into a chair. Closing my eyes, I tried to
run the day’s events through my mind. Maybe
somewhere in the events is the clue to the future? A kettle whistled,
signaling the return of Vulcan. I opened my eyes and found Nanini still moving
up and down. Her eyes ablaze, she was still trying to find a way out of this. Can’t blame her. Suddenly I wasn’t sure
of anything anymore myself. Sure as hell didn’t see Kali as a traitor, nor did
I see the possibility of a hellhound guarding the relics. But most of all, I
never saw Nanini coming. Shitty day
indeed.
“Alright, who wants to go first?” Vulcan asked, sitting down at the nearest
table, yet far away from both of us. I looked at Nanini, giving her the opportunity
to have her say, being a gentlemen and all. She gave me one look and took off,
not even putting a full stop into one sentence.
“You tricked me! How could you do that to me? I should never have
listened to you. Because of you I am stuck with this jerk.” She blasted Vulcan,
her small finger making sure he knew who the trickster was.
“No, I did not,” he replied, all casual.
She had a point. From all the females willing to have taken an Apprendo
that night, he did match me to her. Even when she complained, he still wanted
her to train me. “Did you know?”
He looked at me and a small smile formed on his always serious face. “I
will not lie about that. Yes, I knew that Nanini was your charm, and that is
why I paired you together. It was the same for Kasadya and Chax, and many more
pairings. It would seem that I have a gift to spot the mates of hellhounds and try
and save them from their demise.”
“You knew! Why the hell didn’t you tell me? I could have made a break for
it then!” She was still not calming down.
“Yes, I know. It’s the very reason I don’t tell young fallen when I have
felt such a connection. And before you give me the speech that you are not
young, you must know that you have a very explosive nature my dear, which
qualifies you into that category.”
About that, the male was right. She
was a walking, breathing time bomb.
“Well, too bad for you, it’s not going to happen. Over my dead freaking
body!”
“I see, and how exactly are you going to pull that off, Nanini?”
She stopped and glared at him. “I’ll kill him.”
I should not have felt that awkward pinch in my chest at her words, but I
did. It cut deep into my soul, sending even my hellhound into a dark corner of
despair.
Vulcan’s calm face dropped away instantly. Getting up, he slowly
approached her. “I forbid you. If you even try, I will personally hunt you
down. We need all the fallen we can gather, even more so hellhounds. Because of
Kasadya and all of you, we face the greatest battle against evil we might ever see.
So you will suck it up, little girl, and you will learn to live with this. Do I
make myself clear?”
I could see her small throat swallow the lump stuck in it. She nodded,
and the glitter of a tears appeared in her eyes. My instinct took over
instantly. Shifting, I landed between them and pushed Vulcan away from her.
“She understands. But you will never threaten her again. Do I make myself clear.” The words were
laced with violence and promise.
Vulcan however, simply nodded and returned to his cup of tea. “I suggest
you both return to Chax’s home. In the morning, we will be unleashing Kasadya
Born. Go home and prey that Chax reaches her and is able to save her in time.”
His words send a cold spiral down my body. Behind me, I could hear Nanini
suck in a breath. Shit. He better
save her or he would have to answer to me. But now at this moment, I had my own
mate to think of. I turned around and found her holding her face in her hands
and shaking. “Let’s go home, Nanini,” I softly whispered and gently laid my
hand on her arm, shifting her with utmost care.

Prologue
There was a time when heaven was filled with peace and serenity. God, Jesus Christ, and all the Angels lived in harmony; no evil and no sin existed. Until one fateful day...

“Kasadya, don't do this to me,” Chax spoke, using Corra.

Trey’s band is recording a new album and with Aurora as his muse, Trey is writing songs like never before. After being hired by their record label to paint the cover of the new album, Aurora has a legitimate reason for spending so much time with Trey and his band mates. Aurora can’t deny the unexpected connection she has with Trey, which is fueled by glimpses into his emotions every time they share a kiss. Caught between two worlds, Aurora must attend celebrity award shows and vampire rituals, find time to feed, and protect Trey from the dangers of the night, all while preserving her secrets.

Species: Vampire
Age: 23, but technically I haven’t aged since I became a vampire at 19.
Nationality: My father was Caucasian and my mother was Egyptian.
City or town of birth: Chicago, Illinois
Currently lives: Clearwater, Florida
Height: 5’8’
Weight: 115
Hair color: Black
Hairstyle: I wear it long and straight, or in big waves
Eye color: Green (Trey says they are the color of old-fashioned 7-Up Bottles.)
Personality: I’m a bit of a recluse. It just comes with the vampire territory. Maybe it’s partly because I’m an artist. I’m an observer. I’ve always been more into watching things unfold around me than jumping right into the middle of them. My OCD kicks in when I’m at work, whether it’s organizing my paints, mixing up a fresh batch of varnish, or arranging the way my work is displayed on the walls at my gallery. I don’t have a lot of friends, but being with Trey has taught me to open up a little. I’ve adopted the rest of the guys in the band as brothers They’re sort of stuck with me now whether they want me or not.
Likes: I love rain, which is convenient when you live in Florida. I also love Root beer (there’s just something nostalgic about it.) I love painting, and not just because my livelihood depends on it. Painting is therapeutic. I also apparently have a thing for guys who play guitar. Dislikes: Alcohol. Not just because it tastes awful to my vampire taste buds, but because my parents and brother were killed by someone who was driving drunk.
Fears/phobias: I have a fear of death. I know most people probably do, but I think being immortal was the biggest thing that attracted me to being a vampire. There’s just something about the idea of not existing on this earth anymore that totally freaks me out.
Favorite color: Red.
Hobbies: Painting, hanging out at the local vampire hot spot called Club Sanguin, giving my best friend Mark a hard time, and more recently, sketching Trey while he works in the recording studio and beating all of the guys in the band at Guitar Hero. Taste in music: Anything Trey sings. Lol. But seriously, I have eclectic tastes. I have a soft spot for pop rock and alternative music, though.
Talents/skills: Let’s talk vampire skills, since that’s more interesting. My moon-given talent is to be able to block my thoughts from the prying minds of other vampires. I’m able to ask for other abilities at each new full-moon cycle, but this is the one skill I have with me any time the moon is out. I’m also super fast, strong, and a bit on the sarcastic side. Current job title and description: I’m the owner of an art studio/gallery called The Waking Moon. I named it after one of the names for the full moon in April because that’s the month I was made a vampire.

Age: 22
City or town of birth: I was born in Clearwater Florida, and I still live there today.
Height: 6’ 0”
Figure/build: Slim, Athletic
Hair color: Dark Brown
Eye color: Light Blue
Tattoos: I have a tattoo of the band’s name and logo, Catalyst, on my chest on the right side.
Personality: I’m a hopeless romantic. I don’t fall easily, but when I have someone that I love, I want to spoil them and give them my heart completely. Living like that opens you up to getting hurt, but the rewards are worth the risk. I like to think I’m spontaneous. I’m pretty laid back and easy going, except for when it comes to my music and the band. I feel responsible for every note and every word I write in a song. I’m a bit of a control freak in that sense, so I like to be involved in the details in as much of the creative process as I can, from the moment we start writing new songs for a record, right down to designing the stage we use.
Likes: I like dogs. Cats make me sneeze. (Sorry cat lovers.) I like the ocean. I used to spend a lot of time surfing, but the band takes up most of my spare time these days. I like writing songs and being on stage. There’s just something about being able to tell a story with my guitar and my voice. I’m completely addicted to every aspect of my job. I’m the luckiest guy in the world that way. I love Legos. I’m like a 10-year-old. I even have a working guitar a fan made me out of Legos. It’s the coolest thing ever.
Dislikes: Fake people. Tabloids. Paparazzi that hide in my bushes in my front yard. (You know who you are.)
Fears/phobias: I used to worry that I was never going to find someone who could deal with my crazy life and my career choice. Aurora has changed all that for me…. Oh, Spiders! I don’t do spiders. They are pure evil. Favorite color: Old-fashioned 7-Up bottle Green. ;)
Hobbies: Music, pretending that I know how to paint with Aurora, playing with my miniature pinscher Cowboy, hanging out with my bandmates.
Taste in music: I play rock, so I tend to listen to rock. I’m a big fan of Mayday Parade, Paramore, Jimmy Eat World, The All-American Rejects, and a bunch of other bands like that. I also love some of the classic bands like Kansas, The Eagles, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. My iPod has a weird combination of bands on it.
Favorite food(s): I love pizza and pasta. And Chinese takeout.
Disliked food: Sushi. I just don’t get it. I really don’t.
House/home: My house is huge. Too big, really. I went a little overboard when I was house shopping. Aurora calls it the mansion. I wish I could say that is an exaggeration. The pool is the best part, though. I did it all for the pool.
Current job title and description: Leader singer and rhythm guitarist in Catalyst.

Top 10 – Book Crushes Heather Jensen
1 – Trey Decker (Blood And Guitars series) It wouldn’t make much sense if he wasn’t at the top of my list, right?
2- Damon Salvatore (Vampire Diaries) I read these books long before they made the TV show, but I have to say, I like the TV Damon better than the book Damon. (Oh no she didn’t!)
3- Gale Hawthorne (The Hunger Games) What can I say? I know everyone loves Peeta, and he’s great, but I like a guy who’s willing to jump the fence and hunt for his own food. Just how my daddy raised me.
4- Dimitri Belikov (Vampire Academy) I’m just going to say how much I love Dimitri without ruining for anyone who hasn’t read the books yet. (Why haven’t you, exactly?) Dimitri is the ultimate forbidden love.
5- Christian Ozera (Vampire Academy) I know, I know, another VA guy, but Christian is great, and his wit and sarcasm are hilarious. He’s staying on the list.
6- James Stark (House of Night) There is a definite vampire theme going on here, but just stay with me. Stark is handsome and still manages to be a bit of a bad boy without being a total jerk. Again, I might have a thing for guys who can hunt, and the fact that he’s a perfect dead-on shot each time with that bow of his? Hot.
7- Jack Swift (Heir Series) Fantasy, but not so much Paranormal here with this one. Jack is a great guy caught in a love triangle while he tries to come to terms with learning that he’s a Warrior Heir. Wizards, enchanters and magic. ‘Nuff said.
8- Louis de Pointe du Lac (Interview with the Vampire) My vampire obsession may or may not have started with Louis. I saw the film adaptation before I read the book, but the book is amazing. Plus, imagining him as Brad Pitt as I read didn’t hurt. He’s the original brooding vampire with a conscience. How could that not make the list?
9- Zane Cobriana (The Kiesha’ra Series) Amelia Atwater-Rhodes is one of my favorite authors, and this series is part of the reason for that. It starts with Hawksong, but you get more about Zane in the second book, Snakecharm. These are shape shifters, people, but not like you imagine. Zane is a Cobra. Everything about these shape shifters is unique, and Zane is just icing on the cake. (My only son’s name is Zane. Need I say more?)
10- Ian O’Shea (The Host) Ian is described as being tall, muscular, with black hair and sapphire blue eyes. He loves Wanda for her personality in the story, and is so desperate to be with her that he helps find her a new body in the end to do it. He definitely deserves a spot on this list.

“Blue!” Noelle had followed him out, but he ignored her. “Blue! Stop!”
“I need to be alone.” Shame made him sharp, but he should have known better than to think that would stop her.
“No, you don’t.” A tiny hand slipped into his, entwining their fingers. “You need to be reminded who you are in the here and now. You need to talk about it. You need to trust me.”
“I…” He didn’t even know who this version of himself was. He stopped in the hallway, uncertain where to go. Nowhere felt like it would be the sanctuary he needed more than anything else.
“Chloe, can you give us an hour and then bring breakfast for two to my room, please.” Noelle took over, seeming to know what he needed better than he did. The sub standing behind the reception desk nodded once, flashing a concerned glance at Blue. He couldn’t believe he was letting anyone see him like this. “Come on.” He followed her up the stairs, meek and trusting. She seemed so certain and he felt so numb, like his brain was full of cotton wool.
They entered her room and she pushed the door shut behind them, hitting the lights and drawing the curtains. Her hands went to the buttons of her blouse and he swallowed. “What are you doing?”
“Giving you something to lose yourself in until you’re able to deal with this.” She shrugged, dragging the blouse from her shoulders and letting it pool on the floor.
“You said you weren’t ready.” He replied automatically and she nodded.
“I did. But you need this.”
“How did you know?” He reached for his own buttons, only then realising that his hands were trembling.
“Know what?” She was shimmying out of her jeans, kicking her shoes across the floor.
“That you’re the only place I feel safe.”
She blushed, the warmth radiating over her creamy skin. “Because you taught me that.” She took over removing his clothes. “Home isn’t always a building. Sometimes it’s a person or people. Sometimes there’s more sanctuary in someone familiar than there is in a house you grew up in. Let me be that for you, Blue.”

From story two, Handy Hubby Hire 18 rated excerpt
AUTHOR BIOSara got through the front door before she lost her composure. Smiles wreathed her face. She grasped the business card and looked at the words embossed there. She read it aloud focusing on the name. Griffen Fox, and what a fox he is. He is…gorgeous. What will happen tomorrow? I know what I’d like to happen. Will that be it, he’ll rock up, do the jobs and disappear as if we didn’t have sex, as if we didn’t gaze at each other and want more, want to fuck each other’s brains out all night? She sighed. She sat at her desk and relived his kisses. Her nipples hardened. She pictured his huge, hard cock. Her pussy clenched and drenched her fresh panties. She licked her lips. I wish I was with him now. I want his lips on mine, his hands on my ass. This is probably not good for me. I’ll crave sex again now. Damn it. Sara remembered the months after Jem left. She missed him, their conversations, their walks, but she missed sex more. She missed the hard shape of a man’s body, the taste of his cum. She missed it badly and she’d craved it until she despaired. There’d been no one else. She didn’t meet men in everyday life. She went to make more coffee. I’m addicted to this stuff. That night Sara tossed and turned. She considered masturbating because she needed release, but she knew she longed for a man’s fingers, a man’s mouth on her breasts, preferably Griffen’s. Her own fingers wouldn’t do, not after sex with Griffen. Sometime just before dawn she fell asleep. She sat bolt upright as the sun streamed in through her bedroom window. The angle of the rays told her it was quite late. She leapt out of bed and checked the time on her cell phone. Half an hour to shower before Griffen Fox arrived. Her heart started beating faster as she daydreamed about his kiss and his mouth on her skin. She raced to shower and dress. Her hands shook as she made a cup of coffee. She went to look out of her front windows and watch for his arrival. “Calm the fuck down,” she told herself aloud, but when his truck pulled into her driveway her heart thumped.

My spine itched, but no matter how many times I checked my back trail, it stayed empty.
We were only a couple of streets away from The Dragon, but here urban renewal was slow to encroach. Inky eyes of dark storefronts watched my game of cat and mouse, their entryways offered minor concealment. Sprinkled in-between these were the occasional boarded up abandoned shops. Trailing someone on a quiet city street is far from easy. Headlights from passing traffic played havoc on both my eyesight and ability to hide. Watching my steps, I tried not to invade some poor soul’s cardboard home even as bass-pounding, tricked-out cars drew attention at the most inopportune moments.
By the time Ramirez ducked under a flimsy excuse for a fence, sweat coated my spine. Even after nine at night the temperatures were still hovering in the nineties. I picked up my pace and crossed the street as he disappeared into the weed-choked lot. Standing on the cracked sidewalk, I took in the tall, looming shadow hovering in the narrow space between buildings.
Streetlights failed to hold the darkness back, but I could still make out the boards haphazardly covering what had once been windows. Large signs proclaiming the penalty for trespassing ringed the lower half of the two-story structure. Someone even added a few lines of spiked wire and metal rods. As if that would deter anyone from entering. Didn’t prove much of a hindrance to me or to Ramirez, who had disappeared somewhere inside.
My soft curse as one of those barbs scratched along my shoulder had Kayden coming across the line. “Where are you?”
“Between First and Central on Monroe. Ramirez just disappeared inside an abandoned building.” I worked my way around the side accompanied by the clicks and hums of an overly loud chorus of insects.
“Hobbes just paid his check, I’ll meet up with you.”
“No,” I said, spotting a gaping hole in the far back corner. “Delacourt’s orders were to stay on him, so stay. I’m fine.”
“And if that changes?”
“It changes,” I shot back.
“Shaw,” Wolf broke in. “I’m twenty minutes out.”
“Fine,” Kayden growled. “Cyn, you keep your ass in one piece until I get there.”
“Don’t forget my camera,” I reminded him. His grumbled curse made me grin. Standing outside the ragged opening, I wished for a flashlight. Instead I pulled my Sig free and with a sigh, warned the team, “Going quiet.”
It took some serious contortions to make it around the rough edges of the opening. Once inside, the heat was stifling and sweat popped out on my forehead. With both hands on the Sig, I used my shoulder to wipe it away before it stung my eyes. I held still, waiting for my vision to adjust to the shrouded interior.
I’d come in from the back of the building. Some diffused light made it in-between the gaps of boards and a series of holes peppering the back wall. Unidentifiable piles were scattered across the floor. Walls divided the space into a maze where anything or anyone could hide. Underfoot, a thin layer of grit layered the concrete floors, making it hard to keep my steps silent. From the ceiling, large panels hung like drunken Legos just waiting to fall on the unwary.
Sound reached my ears. I held my breath, straining to listen. The indistinct murmur resolved into voices. Did Ramirez have company or was he talking to someone on the phone? Dust trickled from the ceiling as someone walked across the second story floor. Stairs, somewhere there had to be stairs. Doing a slow scan of my surroundings, I found them crouched in the far corner.
Keeping my back to the wall, I drifted forward. Shifting shadows added a creepy vibe to the gaping doorways and piles dotting the open floor. The tang of smoke found its way up my nose. Using an outstretched hand, I brushed my fingers along the rough surface of the wall. Bringing it back, I could make out the smudge of black now staining my fingers. Great. I got to creep around in burned-out building.
Staying close to the wall, I lowered my gun and kept my finger on the side of the trigger. Trying to hold my gun upright for too long would result in muscle fatigue. More dust rained down as whoever was upstairs walked across the floor. Maybe Ramirez was pacing? Or were there two people up there?
Time to brave the unknown. Was there any other way to the second floor? One that wouldn’t dump me in front of Ramirez and his possible company? It took time and a nerve-wracking patience to work my way through the lower level, but it paid off in a small second, narrow flight of stairs near the front of the building.
Sending a quick prayer that they would hold my weight, I began to creep upward. A handful of steps from the top, a board underfoot gave a loud protest. Dropping into a crouch, I kept my gun aimed at the dark opening and tried to calm my pulse. The murmur of voices stopped. A tense, waiting quiet crept in.

Knowing he’s no good for her, Sin has stayed far away from Taylor since the day she walked into his shop, but when the little spitfire propositions him in the middle of the bar, there’s no way he’ll be able to walk away from the temptation. A scalding attraction. An irresistible passion. A pity she’s the one woman he can never have…
Dane Coulter is mourning the loss of his best friend, fellow Special Ops buddy, Cody. Oh, Cody didn’t die. It’s worse. He’s getting married. Cody is, in Dane’s opinion, whipped.
Dane swears he will never suffer the same fate. But when he meets a woman who can take all his dominant loving and beg for more, he realizes he may have met his match. It’s a damn shame she’s the one woman in the world his man-code deems untouchable…his best friend’s sister.
Chief Sin
Sayde Grace
A taste of Sin isn’t enough. Instead she wants all of him, including the heart she once broke.
Mavis Tanem has the world at her feet. She’s young, wealthy, and independent, yet none of that means anything. All she cares about is vengeance. Destroying her father. There’s no place in her life for softness—for love. Yet one missing brother brings her back to where it all started, and back to Bowie Sinet, the man she broke.
The devil was back in Tanem, Texas and Bowie is ready for the smart-mouthed and sexy as hell woman who’d torn his heart to pieces. As sheriff he’s used his handcuffs for a lot, but what he wants to do with them and Mavis might just be against the law, in more ways than one.
A single night is too much and yet not enough for either of them. They both know it’s too late to change the past, but maybe together they can exorcise the ghosts that haunt them, and find some peace.
Make Me Surrender
Tina Donahue
When it comes to two of the hottest guys in town, she has a proposition…to win their attention, passion, hearts.
For over a year, Mercy’s had her eye on Travis and Dutch, two of the hottest guys on the Oregon coast. Dark and dangerously virile, Travis owns a saloon that caters to bikers. Dutch looks like one, right down to his impressive tats, and operates a motorcycle repair shop on the premises.
When a position opens in the saloon’s kitchen, Mercy sees a way to be near these sinfully sexy men, wanting the job and lodging, her cabin snuggled between theirs.
Travis isn’t so sure about having Mercy nearby. She’s deliciously curvy, but too nice. He’s into temporary fun. To Dutch, forever is a dirty word.
Imagine their surprise when sweet little Mercy encourages wild nights of carnal pleasure with a dash of bondage and spanking…followed by friendship and tenderness.
Before she’s through, these tough guys won’t know what hit them.

AMY RUTTAN BUILDING BRIDGES
Welcome to the world of men brought to their knees by love! This STEAMY collection by acclaimed erotic romance authors will test their heroes to their limits! Read on for more about this steamy set by A.M. Griffin, Amy Ruttan, Anya Richards, Cynthia D'Alba, Danica Avet, Felice Fox, Jennifer Kacey, Lynne Silver, Sabrina York, Sayde Grace & Tina Donahue.
In Amy Ruttan’s BUILDING BRIDGES Vet tech Molly has the hots for new rancher William, even though he’s ornery and a bit of a lone wolf. She’s willing to take a chance and enjoy a stolen moment of passion in his arms, but she’s having doubts about leaving everything she knows behind to follow her dream.
William has saved up for years to finally get his grandfather’s ranch up and running again. Escaping into the foothills of Alberta is a good place to hide from the ghosts of his past. All he wants is to be left alone, but that’s kind of hard when a sexy vet tech seems to be always around.
After a sudden storm during an Indian summer forces them indoors, the temperature inside the cabin begins to rise. William helps Molly see that her dream is worth pursuing while she shows him maybe he doesn’t have to be alone after all. As the temperature plummets William gives Molly one ride she’ll never forget.
Here is a teaser featuring William and Molly’s first encounter.
Molly tried not to roll her eyes. “Look, I’d love to discuss my credentials with you Mr. …”
“Sharples. William Sharples.” He wiped his hand on his jeans and held it out. Molly took it and shook it, firmly squeezing his hand just to show William Sharples that she meant business.
“Nice to meet you, Mr. Sharples, but I really have to get a hold of that colt and give him a check-up before the vet gets here.”
She tried to take her hand back, but William wasn’t letting go.
“Seeing how you know my name don’t you think it’s only fair I know yours?”
“Molly Brooks. I work with Dr. Shaw. I’m his tech.”
William nodded. “Well, you’d think a vet tech would know how to properly handle a colt.” And with that statement, he let go of his hold on her and moved past her toward the stables.
Molly, stunned, watched him walk away.
Ass.
And as she watched him move across the corral she couldn’t help but notice the jackass did indeed have a fine specimen of one.
Stay strong.
“So much for helping out a damsel in distress, eh?” She yelled at him, pleased she got in that last little jab.
He turned around, his eyes twinkling and a strange smile quirking on his lips. “Are you saying you need my help, Ms. Brooks?”
“No. I’m saying a gentleman would’ve offered to assist me.” She picked up her baseball cap from the ground and whacked it against her knee, dislodged a plume of dirt, before slamming it back on her head. “A lady shouldn’t have to ask.”
When she glanced up, she let out a gasp of surprise to see William standing two feet from her. How the Hell did he get over to her so fast? But then she forgot about all that when she realized exactly how close he was. It was a hot, dry, dusty day but she could feel his body heat against her bare arms, causing a shiver to run down her spine. The scent of leather and the outdoors made her weak in the knees. She loved the smell of a cowboy.
This isn’t staying strong.
Suddenly she forgot why she was angry at him in the first place.
Damn cowboys. They didn’t always leave her as a raving fool, but there was something about William Sharples. He was dangerous and she would have to keep her distance from him.
“Do you need some help?” he asked, breaking the silence. There was a hint of humor in his voice, as if he knew she were ogling him in her mind.
“Are you offering?” She responded, trying to sound like she didn’t care and that he didn’t affect her at all.
“Nope.”
“Nope? That’s all you have to say.”
“Yep.” He grinned, his eyes twinkling.
“And why is that?”
“Because I’m not a gentleman.” He chuckled, tipping his hat and turning back to the stables.
William and Molly have no idea what they’re in for, but sparks are sure going to fly.
