Winter Blahs
The past couple of weeks have been way too cold, and sadly, it sounds like we’ve got some even colder ones coming up fast. This “Polar Vortex” stuff is driving me crazy. While I love the idea of being able to curl up with a cup of coffee and a good book (or with the hubby); it has done nothing to inspire me to do much writing. Maybe I need to rethink what I am working on right now and find a way to have it taking place during a blizzard or up in the arctic. I do love a good romantic story that takes places when two souls are suddenly trapped in a snow storm. :-) Alas - my work ethic right now is almost non-existent. Nothing is worse than when you have all these thoughts rolling around your head and absolutely no desire to even write those down.
At least the snow is pretty to look at. This is a view from the entrance to my library today.

It is official
I am extremely pleased to share that my second book Pierce The Psyche is now available for purchase from Amazon.com. As I’ve shared before, this book has been a labor of love for me. Until recently, I never felt it was ready; something always felt off. I am so happy (and relieved) that it finally feels right. I hope that others find it enjoyable. Thank you to everyone who has helped and supported me through this whole process, especially those readers who have so kindly reached out to me. I am truly honored. Thank you and I hope you enjoy this new story.

Will I be hearing something soon?
So yesterday I posted the following on my Facebook page.
Beginning to seriously doubt I’ll be getting my book published by the end of the year. Oh well, at least I have two different writing projects going on right now to help pass the time as I wait for the Copyright office.
Then about an hour after I typed this message, I received an email from a publishing company that said they discovered my Copyright Registration with the Library of Congress and wanted to see if I might be interested in publishing with them. I freely admit that for a moment I was totally geeked out. But then reality took hold and I did a little searching on this company. Suffice to say, I am not interested in publishing with this company. Sounds like they want to make it sound like they are there to help, but in reality I would have to pay huge amounts of money to get my book published - no thanks. However, since this company found my work, this gives me hope that I might be hearing from the Copyright office fairly soon. All I can do is wait and see. Could I possibly make my goal of getting it out before 2014 hits? Just have to wait and see.

My newest toy - the Microsoft Surface. So far I really like it - though it is taking a little bit to get used to all the new ins and outs of Windows 8. Hoping that this will replace the need for a laptop and a tablet.

Pre-pub inside scoop
Still no word from the Copyright office … darn it! Oh well, maybe I can hope to get it published by my birthday or Christmas.
#2. The main character, Andrew (or Drew as he is known to family and friends) possesses Psi abilities; namely telekinesis, visions, and mild telepathy. Ever since I was a child I have been fascinated by characters that possesses these types of abilities. One of my favorite shows as a kid was the British cult The Tomorrow People (which has just been remade for US audiences - which is awesome); and my favorite character on Star Trek is Deanna Troi. It is a subject that I am completely drawn to, so when I first started drafting my short story, I knew that I wanted my character to have those types of abilities. It was fun and challenging as I wanted to make sure that Drew was completely mine and what I wanted from a Psi possessor. He is definitely my favorite character and I hope he becomes others as well.

Pre-pub
With the copyright office still shut down, I’m beginning to think my goal of getting Pierce the Psyche published this month is not going to happen. Oh well - in the mean time I think I’ll go ahead and start doing some pre-publication inside scoop.
Inside Scoop #1: This story was actually written before Half A Life and took 10 years from my initial idea till its first completed drafted. It all began when I had to write a short story for my writing class and I decided to try my hand at science fiction. I really loved the characters and when the time came to do another short story, I thought - hey, wouldn’t it be fun to do a sequel. It was when I actually considered doing a third story that I decided to expand it into a novel. It was a massive labor of love as I put it away many, many times as I kept hitting a wall with it. The longest I didn’t do anything with it was a year. Coming back to it though brought new eyes, new ideas, and many changes. Though something never felt right. It wasn’t until I made a slight change last year that it finally felt finished.
