Have Mercy On My Soul

The rain on my soul beats at my flesh.

The torment in my heart feast on my organs.

Lingering dreams crowding my presence,

I see no tomorrow,

have mercy on my soul.

Show me a better way to move thought the dungeons of festering memories and decaying thoughts.

Where is joy?

Where is peace?

Ease my mind of cloudy thoughts,

lighten my soul for days to come,

remove the dark lichens devouring my joy.

Show me love,

show me joy,

show me hollow points to end this pain.

I see no tomorrow,

have mercy on my soul.

Until we meet again,

Let death embrace me in its bosom.

Lioness

The king of the jungle,

when I roar,

you should bow.

The king of the jungle.

I feel no pain.

My mane is superior.

My head is held high.

I am the king.

I walk with might.

I’m never scared of a fight.

Behold my glory,

it shines in the light.

Guess my name,

its no secret.

Say a lion and you will be wrong.

Lioness to you,

the new appointed King!

Slopjar Book Review by African American Studies Teacher Stevie Glasspool

This particular book of poetry really reaches for the soul and takes a firm grasp of it long after the final pages have been turned. In my career, I have never come across a writing style quite as unique as Mrs. Jennings: it’s insightful, tear jerking, stays with you and touches the soul on so many levels. Excellent read, cannot wait for more to come!

Slopjar By Ingrid Jennings Press Release

Check out my latest press release at: “http://www.sbwire.com/press-releases/...

West Palm Beach, FL — (SBWIRE) — 08/22/2012 — From laughter and love to lust, Lucifer and the Lord – Ingrid Jennings’ new book takes a single letter of the alphabet and propels it to new literary heights.

Slopjar, Jennings’ first major release, contains seven chapters of beautifully inspirational poetry. As some have now guessed, each chapter starts with the letter ‘L’; a facet that makes the book unlike anything ever released before.

While each chapter provides a fresh escape into new subject matter, Slopjar is unique in that each poem comes together to form a larger story.

“Everything is written to be profound, seductive and to allow words to melt in readers’ mouths like butter. I wanted to provide people with an escape into an insane mind and a battered soul,” Jennings explains.

She continues, “Readers will find their heart-strings pulled as they immerse themselves into the pure pleasure of a dazzling page-bound work of art. With this in mind, it is time to open up the Slopjar.”

Since its release, the book has garnered consistent five-star reviews.

“These poems dove straight down to hell, exposing the ravings of a crazed mind, but a mind still able to put words on paper, to show us her mental state and to take us there, too. Every time I read these poems, every time I open this book and read another poem, my heart beats faster and my palms sweat,” says Maragret Fieland, reviewing the book on Amazon.”

Another reader, also reviewing the book for Amazon, was equally as impressed:

Slopjar is an amazing book. While reading Slopjar, I laughed, I cried, and I didn’t stop reading until the end. It was inspirational at some parts and it reminded me of my own life at other parts. Great Book!” they wrote.

Slopjar, published by Lioness Publishing House, is available now from Amazon – as well as the author’s official website.

Jennings’ progress can also be followed on Facebook and Twitter.

Christine Patterson is an amzing poet!!!! Her poems touches your heart and soul on so many levels. They are so REAL! I feel as if I have lived them time and time again. I would love to read a story by this author because when I come to the end of each poem I wish it was more. Real and Unconditional Love is my life story and I too hope my love will stand The Test of Time. Amazing stuff!!! This book has been food to my heart and light to my soul.

Book Review for Petals of Peace by L.M. Young

Tears came to my eyes as I read Petals of Peace. I thought about a love one, I miss so dearly. My heart really connected to the poetry as it graced my mind. Reading each poem is inspirational and encouraging. Not only did I connect to the poetic, I connected to God almighty.

Margaret Fieland’s book Relocated is an amazing science fiction book for young adults. As a reading teacher, I found her book appropriate for middle and high school students. I believe it to be an excellent book to add to a classroom library.
