Stranger in the Room: A NovelStranger in the Room: A Novel by Amanda Kyle Williams

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Stranger in the Room by Amanda Williams is a detective novel that features a southern PI name Keyes Street. Keyes is a struggling and recovering alcoholic. She has a crazy cousin who needs psychiatric treatment and is also being stalked. There is actually multiple mysteries throughout the book. Very suspenseful/intriguing book, a must read for mystery lovers.

Awesome quote by Joel Osteen

“No matter how many times you get knocked down, keep getting back up. God sees your resolve. He sees your determination. And when you do everything you can do, that’s when God will step in and do what you can’t do.”

Carnival of Souls by Melissa Marr

Carnival of SoulsCarnival of Souls by Melissa Marr

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Carnival of Souls by Melissa Marr sweep me though a portal to a new land with shape-shifters called daimons and powerful witches. It is full of mystery and murder with favors and money being exchanged for pleasure and daimons fighting to the death to win their way into a higher class. This is the first book I read by the author, it was won on goodreads but I loved the plot of the story and can’t wait to go to the bookstore to purchase more of her books. Awesome read!

Misused

The wicked ole man slid into my life.

He stole my heart ten times over.

He came undetected,

bearing many gifts,

gifts that stole my heart and locked it in a box.

I was swept off my feet by his charming eyes; his mean look

sent shivers over my body.

I had plans for him.

Plans to make him mine.

Plans to make him smile.

But all the while I was just a rock in his path,

a paper towel to be trashed.

I was just a body with no mind,

a thing,

an animal,

a woman, a woman,

a woman men despise,

a woman

men misused,

a woman

set aside.

For days I cried for him

for weeks I watched his picture

but in the end

I knew

he was missing out

because I am a woman,

a gift from GOD almighty.

What is a poet?

By definition an poet is someone who writes poetry or someone who has the gift of poetic thought according to dictionary.com but is this really all that makes up a poet. Does this mean that anyone who takes out a pen and scribble senseless words on paper a poet. The title poet has been misused. It takes more then just writing words and thoughts. A true poet writes from the heart; words flow out like a stream. Creativity doesn’t have to be thought of; it circles the hand and flows from the pen of a true poet. Are you a true poet? Are your words a river of creative expression?

Great Poets: Maya Angelou and Robert Frost

Many people ask me, who is my favorite poet. Maya Angelou hands down. Why you might ask, because I am charmed by her swag and enchanted with her words. As a child I would read her poetry and it was sensational words to my ears. Who is my second favorite poet, Robert Frost of course. The Road Not Taken is the road I have strolled down, time and time again and now transformed by the renewing of my mind I walk down the road less traveled.
