Book Review: Shadow Woman by Linda Howard
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Could you imagine your memory being wiped clean and waking up not knowing the person staring at you in the mirror. On top of that, the thoughts that do begin to come cause painful migraines and intense vomiting. Then you remember things like how to shake a tail and I am not talking about a dance or how to shake your butt like Tina Turner but how to spot someone following you and lose them. This happens to Lisette in Shadow Woman by Linda Howard. She awakens from a dull, routine life and springs into action. She is on the run from God knows who and one of the men (Mr. X or Xavier) following her is a man she has been having sexual dreams about. This book takes you on a breathe taking ride. You will not want to sit it down. You will constantly want to keep track of Lisette just like her trackers. You will be itching to find out why the government have her under surveillance and want to kill her. Get ready for an adventure. I have just become a fan of Linda Howard. I was lucky enough to win this hardcover book on Goodreads and it is amazing. Stay tuned for more reviews on Linda Howard books.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is an amazing book. I read it about 10 tens ago but I will never forget the book. it is very profound. A good book for young teenagers to read. It is the coming of age of a young girl who grew up in the ghetto, her father was a big time drug dealer who gets busted. Her mother become a drug addict and she starts her life on the wrong path. I remember crying at the end of this book. I wish I could give it 10 stars!!!!!!!!

Book Review for Edge of Never by: J.A. Redmerski
In the background Joy and John are singing about fear and guilt, my eyes are still wet from few tears I couldn’t stop from falling…What a pleasure it is to experience a different life, travel to distant places, feel the love and pain through the pages of a beautifully written story.
It starts quite simply…Camryn wakes up one day not wanting to live according to people’s expectations. Without a plan she packs her bag, gets on a bus and along the way finds everything she could hope for, and more…
Cam and Andrew took me on a journey I’d love to take in real life. They made me believe in faith, freedom and love from a different perspective. They are the perfect blend of characters, pulled together with a great intensity that started slow and kept building up through out the book. They are the definition of living your life in the moment and to the fullest. They are the missing pieces of each other souls.
There is a lot more I could say or describe but words somehow fail me. I’m still on a high from the mixture of emotions Redmerski put me through. If you never met anyone that taught you to give in to your darkest desires, speak your mind, dream out loud and always be yourself, than the Edge of Never is the next best thing. It’s one of those stunning books that leave a lasting impression. Damn, how am I to go back to reality after reading it…
“The heart always wins out over the mind., the heart, although reckless and suicidal and masochist all on its own, always gets it way. The mind may be what’s best, but I don’t give a shit what my mind is telling me anymore. Right now, I want to live in the moment.”

Dead Reckoning By Charlaine Harris
Dead Reckoning by Charlaine Harris
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Charlaine Harris is one of my favorite authors. I have sent hundreds of dollars buying her mouth watering books. Her words use to be seductive and thrilling and her character Sookie Stackhouse is the best telepathic friend I never had. I’m not even going to mention the Trueblood series that come on HBO; that I am a devout fan of. Bottom line Charlaine Harris is an excellent writer and I look up too her. When it comes to writing, she is definitely one of my role models. With that being said, I will now discuss Dead Reckoning. I had to read it twice because the first time I read it, it was so boring, I skipped pages and chapters and finally I found myself reading the last few pages. Afterward, I felt bad I begin to think maybe I didn’t give the book a good chance maybe I should read it again, so I did. Cover to cover of poor ole Sookie never knowing what to do, who to love, and who to trust. Maybe Ms. Harris rushed though this book. Maybe she didn’t take the time to think of a plot where Sookie evolve from poor ole Sookie the waitress. Regardless, each one of these Sookie Stackhouse books are getting worse and worse and I am a person who LOVE Sookie. I wish I was Sookie and had two handsome vampires fighting for my attention. But I wouldn’t want to always be a waitress forever. Where is Sookie hopes and dreams. Please let her evolve into something more then a country bumpkin. Well I give this book 3 stars and I am still going to buy the rest of the Sookie Stackhouse series because I have started collected them and I would hate to have an incomplete collection. Hopefully the rest is better then this one.

Weeping because of the Connecticut School Shooting
My heart goes out to the families that lost love ones in the Connecticut Shooting. Let’s keep these families in our prayers. These children are now sleeping in Jesus arms.
Jesus Arms by: Ingrid Jennings
Today is the day, I begin a new journey.
I plan to reach the stars.
I plan to touch the sky.
Today is the day, I soar from the past.
I leave all past failures and tears behind.
Looking toward, what’s ahead, no pain, no torment, no demons to carry.
All my burdens left behind, buried so deep, never to appear.
Peaceful days are here to stay, loving moments lasting always, no tears for me, my time has come.
Here I lay down to rest.
Dry your eyes, I’m in peace.
Now I sleep in Jesus arms.

Voodoo Dreams: A Novel of Marie Laveau by Jewell Parker Rhodes
Voodoo Dreams: A Novel of Marie Laveau by Jewell Parker Rhodes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Today I finished reading Voodoo Dreams: A Marie Laveau Novel by Jewell Parker Rhodes. It was her first novel. Her writing is very poetic. She use a lot of description and details, as I read Voodoo Dreams, I traveled to the 1800’s and walked down the streets of New Orleans. I visited one of Marie’s rituals and was able to see the sadness and frustration in her heart. I watched her become possessed by Damballah and drop to the floor slithering like a snake. I listened to the drum man and let the music of his beats sway my body. Then I closed the book to awaken to reality. For a first novel J. Rhodes did an exceptional job plotting Voodoo Dreams. It is a non-fictional account of the life of Marie Laveau (a real voodoo queen from New Orleans). It goes from Marie’s childhood to her death. When I begin reading I expected the character to be a strong woman with great power but instead J. Rhodes’ Marie Laveau, is weak and always trying to gain the acceptance of others but by the end of the book, she gain strength and begin to fight for what she wants.
