GREEN HORNET, Railbikes, Fate’s Hannibal 8 & 1961 FORD GYRON

DID YOU KNOW?? The 1966 Chrysler Imperial sedan known as “Black Beauty” in the TV show The Green Hornet was actually two different cars built by custom car builder Dean Jeffries. One was used for the majority of the show, and the other was a backup and promotional car. The car was designed to be a rolling arsenal, complete with flipping headlights, rocket launchers, and a gas gun. The customization of the two cars cost the studio $50,000. Dean Jeffries (not George Barris) restored the touring car 30 years later, bringing it back to its original condition.

The original designer of the 1982 GMC Sierra truck (a part of the GM C/K truck family) is not definitively known, as it was a collaborative effort by a team of engineers and designers within General Motors. The Sierra name, which would later become its own model line, was previously used as a trim level, and the first generation of the GMC Sierra was introduced in 1988. The 1982 model was part of the broader “Square Body” generation of GM trucks. The 1980 model year introduced both a tape player option and a CB radio, showcasing the evolving technology of the time. “Confirmed, Good Buddy!”

DID YOU KNOW?? The BMW Isetta, a unique bubble car produced from 1955 to 1962, is known for its distinctive front-opening door, fuel efficiency and ability to seat two passengers. It was developed under license from the Italian company Iso and BMW became the sole manufacturer after 1955. The Isetta was a success, with over 160,000 units produced, making it the best-selling single-cylinder car of all time! Plus, it’s so dang cute!

Only three Flintmobiles were ever built for the films, with one being stationary for close-ups and another built on a golf cart chassis for driving scenes. Also, “Dino-Fuel” in the show was just water, and antifreeze was hot soup for the dinosaurs! And yes, Fireball was involved with Cinema Vehicle Services.

Additionally, the 1956 Fairlane saw the introduction of a more powerful 312-cid Thunderbird V8 and factory air conditioning as options. Sweet…
