What is possible?

The other day I shared a story about how, while on stage in Australia, I helped a woman named Stephanie who couldn’t speak because of seizures she had had a few weeks back, and how I was able to help her to speak for the first time since the seizures, by tapping with her.

It was an incident that once again stretched my thinking and had me asking, “What is truly possible?”

I think the very question of, “What is possible?” is one that we should all constantly be asking ourselves. Because the truth is that we all limit ourselves, on both a conscious and more importantly a subconscious level, more than we could ever imagine.

For a long time, nobody thought they could run a 4-minute mile, and then Roger Bannister did. For a long time, nobody thought we’d be able to fly, and then the Wright Brothers did. And if you had asked me before the event in Australia whether Tapping could help somebody who hadn’t spoken in weeks to speak again, I would have said maybe, but would have had my reservations. But today, after working with Stephanie, I of course know it is possible.

The process of “personal transformation” and “personal growth” is largely a process of rewriting what we believe is possible in our own lives, with regards to our finances, our health, our relationships, and so much more.

I want to share a video with you today that I first shared during our 2011 Tapping World Summit, and which I think is one of the most eye-opening videos I’ve ever seen on the subject of “What is possible?” It’s a video that I could watch over and over again. And when we first released it in 2011, it had a HUGE response.

The video is with Dr. Bruce Lipton. The information that he shares about the reality of how our conscious and subconscious minds work is incredibly powerful. You can see it here:

Now take a moment and ask yourself… What is possible in my life? Where do I have false subconscious beliefs that are limiting me, and which I could release?

P.S. – In the video Bruce also talks about the ability of our minds to control our health. If you’re dealing with pain please make sure to watch the video. We have our live pain event coming up in October and I think this video will help you to see what is possible by using Tapping, with any “physical” issue, to release the pain.

If you want to attend our pain event in October, here are details:

I was stunned and so was the audience…

Whenever I speak publicly, and demonstrate EFT Tapping (for newbies it’s a combination of Ancient Chinese Acupressure and Modern Psychology) with a live audience, I usually start by focusing on how to use tapping for pain relief, not only because there’s always (unfortunately) people in pain in the audience, but also because it’s so concrete. You KNOW when you’re in pain and you KNOW when it’s gone!

I also demonstrate with pain relief because what I’ve seen in the last decade as it relates to relieving pain is simply extraordinary. 30 years of chronic back pain… Fibromyalgia… A fracture L1 with titanium rods and screws…. 11 years of chronic migraines… and much more, have all been cleared completely and permanently (to never return), using tapping.

I know that in the 20-30 minutes I usually have to demonstrate the technique, we’re likely to get some great results. And exactly that happened in Sydney in front of 1,500 people. I brought up three courageous women, we tapped together on the physical pain, exploring emotional connections, exploring feelings of self-worth and deservingness, and the results were, as always, extraordinary. For all three women, the pain shifted dramatically. (In fact I heard from one of them the next morning that she hadn’t needed any pain relieving medication that day, for the first time in years…)

So I was happy with the outcome, the audience was excited about the shifts they had witnessed and experienced themselves, and I was getting ready to close up the presentation. I had about ten minutes left before my time was up, so I figured I’d spend that time hearing from people in the audience as to what results they had experienced as they tapped along with the women on stage.

One lady stood up and started speaking, “I’m here with my friend Stephanie (Stephanie then stood up), who is 21 years old and has been suffering from seizures the past several months. One of the side effects of the seizures is that something happens to her vocal chords and she can’t speak. So can you tap with her to help her speak?”

I was, to put it mildly, a little overwhelmed by the request! :) I was thinking to myself, “There are ten minutes left in the presentation and you want to see if tapping can help your friend speak??? Yes, I’ve seen extraordinary things happen with EFT, but this seems a little crazy!”

But something inside told me to give this a shot, so I asked the audience if they were willing to stay into lunch a little longer if we didn’t get it done in 10 minutes and when they agreed, I said, “Let’s go for it!”

Stephanie comes up on stage with her two friends joining her for moral support, and they sit on the couch together. In order to get some idea as to where to go with this, I ask Stephanie a few questions, and she writes down the answer on a piece of paper. When I say she couldn’t speak, I mean, not a single sound. It’s not like she whispered or had a sore throat, when she went to vocalize words, nothing happened.

So we began tapping, with me using my intuition to come up with the phrasing for Stephanie, and with Stephanie, since she couldn’t vocalize, thinking the words in her head. (I often get asked, “Can you do the tapping in your mind, and not vocalize the words?” I think this result definitively answers that question, as you’ll see in a minute!)

After several rounds of tapping, I asked her a question and she, to the delight of the audience and myself, squeaked out a “No”. I couldn’t believe it! She spoke a word! Her friends were stunned, she was stunned, 1,500 were stunned and we were all excited for more!

We continued doing several more tapping rounds and when I checked back in with her again, she SPOKE! And not just a word or two, full sentences as if nothing had ever happened. Now we were all REALLY stunned. :) I asked her what happened, to tell us more about what was going on and she said that last time she had had a seizure and hadn’t been able to speak, it had taken her weeks to regain her voice. Now, in a matter of minutes, it was back. She described how she could feel the muscles in her throat and neck relaxing completely, and thus she was able to speak.

She was delighted with the results, her friends were in shock, and the audience gave her a rousing round of applause! Stephanie came up and gave me a hug later on at the book signing, and shared her enthusiasm to continue using tapping, not just for any potential problems with her voice, but to see if she could use it to stop the seizures and heal whatever was going on there.

My response to her… “Based on what I saw today, anything is possible!” :)

Thank you Stephanie for your courage (and to everyone else who came on stage), thank you Australia for your welcoming embrace and thank you to Tapping for being such a miraculous tool!

If you were in the audience in Sydney or Melbourne – share your experience of what you witnessed! If you weren’t, what has this story made you think about? What seemingly huge obstacle or hurdle can you commit to clear in your life? :)

Note: Also, if you want to join me at a live event, there are a couple of opportunities in the next few months. If you’re in physical pain, or know someone who is, then I highly suggest you check out our event, The Tapping Experience for Pain Relief.

http://www.thetappingsolution.com/pain

(The early bird special ends soon, so sign up today!).

A quick note about this event: I’ve had some people comment on it saying, “I’d like to go but my pain is related to X (where X stands for the medical diagnosis, slipped disc, pinched nerve, some sort of “disease” and so forth). And my answer is always the same: The results I’ve seen with tapping for pain relief extend way beyond what conventional medicine understands as it relates to pain relief. I’ve seen people with titanium rods and screws in their backs, who are told they’d always be in pain because of “X”, become completely pain free.

It’s possible, and we’re going to work together to make that happen in October:

What Mindfulness Meditation and EFT Have in Common

20 years ago, the healing arts of the Eastern world were still pretty new to us here in the West. Yoga, meditation, acupuncture, tai chi – these ancient sciences of the body and mind were met with awe and eagerness by some, and with confusion, dismissal and even ridicule by many others.

Things have really changed, haven’t they?

These days, you don’t need to go too far to take a yoga class, and maybe one of your family members or a neighbor has a regular meditation practice.

That said, despite how popular these disciplines have become, the Western medical establishment has only recently started to endorse the many benefits that these practices can provide. Similarly, we’re only just beginning to see more than a few studies that delve into just why they are so effective.

One such study recently yielded some fantastic results that really got me excited. Performed by the Shamantha Project at the University of California-Davis, the study revealed that focusing on the present through mindfulness meditation may help reduce your body’s level of cortisol, the stress hormone. Essentially, it suggests a physical effect on our body when we meditate, one that impacts our stress levels.

(In case you’re wondering, this is one of the meditation systems I most recommend since it’s very easy regardless of experience level and because it’s very effective ==> Holosync  – It’s free to try, just click here to learn more)

Of course, you may be wondering just why this information is so exciting to me. After all, my field is EFT Tapping, not meditation, right?

True, but what you may not realize is that there are a few key similarities between EFT Tapping and mindfulness meditation. Once you understand what they are, you’ll likely be just as excited as I am!

Mindfulness Meditation and EFT Tapping, Side by Side

Whether you actually practice it or not, you probably have a basic grasp of what meditation involves. Well, that’s unless you think it’s just sitting down and doing nothing. It’s ok if you do, as it’s a common perception, but the practice is a little more nuanced than that.

Mindfulness meditation specifically requires you to use your breathing, posture and mind to remain focused on the present. We don’t realize it, but most of the time we’re either thinking about something in the past or what may happen in the future. With gentle discipline, mindfulness meditation steers you away from this.

Those who meditate consistently tend to be calmer, even in the face of troublesome surprises or nagging or traumatic memories. That’s because they’ve cultivated a stillness within that allows them to acknowledge these thoughts and memories without allowing them to affect their feelings too drastically.

EFT Tapping may seem radically different from mindfulness meditation, but the goal is actually quite similar. This technique requires you to tap on a few of your body’s meridian points – some of the same spots on your body used in acupuncture – as you focus on whatever it is that’s bothering you in the present. In so doing, you gradually work through the layers of feelings and stresses that have become built up in your mind and body. With time, you are able to acknowledge what happened to you in the past or what may happen in the future without becoming too stressed, anxious or even sick about it.

Sound similar?

Although the two practices take very different approaches, they both use the doorway of the present to restore your body and mind to their optimal functioning conditions. One of the most beneficial results of this? Less stress!

Trouble Meditating? Try Tapping!

You may not realize it, but EFT Tapping has its origins in the East as well. Whereas meditation is believed to have originated in ancient India, the principles of Tapping are derived from the practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the same principles which are used in acupuncture and acupressure today.

The similarities don’t stop there. This recent study on meditation’s correlation with reduced cortisol levels in the body – and thus a lower stress response – mirrors similar findings in a study done by researchers at Harvard Medical School. That study found that by stimulating the meridian points addressed in acupuncture, acupressure and EFT Tapping, one can reduce cortisol levels significantly.

The reason why I am excited is this: in the past, and even today, many people have scoffed at the healing attributes of these methods. However, studies such as these shine significant light on just how they produce such incredible healing effects. They lend credence and weight to the claims of millions of people around the world who use these “alternative” methods of healing.

Furthermore, I know many people who have tried to meditate in the past and have struggled with it. It’s a wonderful practice that I fully endorse, but in the event that you don’t take to it, it’s wonderful to know that some of the same effects you could hope to experience through meditation may also be unlocked through EFT Tapping. If you’ve never tried it before, you can learn this revolutionary technique by watching this quick video.

Whatever discipline you choose to take on, it’s important that you find a way to effectively deal with the stresses and pressures of your life. In fact, you might not even have to make a choice: there’s no rule saying that you can’t incorporate both meditation and EFT Tapping into your self-care routine. You might very well become the least stressed-out person you know!

How You Can Use EFT to Stay Centered and Grounded

Maybe you’ve tried meditation before and it just didn’t work for you. If that’s the case, try these two things:

#1 – Try out holosync meditation for free by clicking here.  It’s a very helpful technology for helping anyone to meditate.

#3 – Give the tapping routine below a try. It’s tailored to yield many of the same effects you might hope to find with a meditation practice. With time, you’ll be able to adjust it to suit your specific needs.

Start by tapping on your karate-chop point:

“Even though I find it hard to maintain my center, I deeply love and accept myself.”

“Even though I get so carried away with my most distracting thoughts, I deeply love and accept myself.”

“Even though I’ve tried so many different things to keep myself grounded and nothing seems to work, I deeply love and accept myself.”

Next, tap through the points:

Eyebrow: These thoughts…

Side of Eye: I get so carried away with my thoughts

Under Eye: I have so much on my mind

Under Nose: Why can’t I stop thinking?

Chin Point: My thoughts stress me out so much

Collarbone: They are so distracting

Under Arm: My thoughts are getting in the way

Top of Head: My thoughts are holding me back

Eyebrow: No matter what I do, I can’t stay focused on the present

Side of Eye: I try to maintain my awareness of the current moment, but I can’t

Under Eye: My mind is always drifting

Under Nose: I’m always thinking about the past

Chin Point: I’m always worried about the future

Collar Bone: This is too much for me

Under Arm: I don’t know what to do

Top of Head: I just want to find peace in myself

Repeat this routine until you find yourself calm, centered and with a heightened awareness of yourself. Then, return to your eyebrow:

Eyebrow: I just need to breathe

Side of Eye: The past is the past, the future is the future

Under Eye: I am here now

Under Nose: I don’t have to worry so much

Chin Point: I just need to breathe

Collarbone: I can stay present

Under Arm: I am just fine

Top of Head: All I have to do focus on my breath

Eyebrow: All I have to do is focus on the present

Side of Eye: Excessive thinking doesn’t help me

Under Eye: Worrying about the future doesn’t make it any better

Under Nose: All I have to do is breathe

Chin Point: If I operate from my center, I can handle whatever may come

Under Arm: All I have to do is breathe

Top of Head: All I have to do is breathe

Do you procrastinate?

Do you procrastinate?

If so, do you know why? And do you know what it’s REALLY costing you?

Wayne Gretzky, the greatest hockey player of all time, said, “Procrastination is one of the most common and deadliest of diseases, and its toll on success and happiness is heavy.” Is your success and happiness suffering because of procrastination?

If you ever procrastinate and think that you’d like to change, then I have a wonderful video for you today, with Jessica interviewing EFT Master Carol Look on the subject of procrastination, and how to use tapping to overcome these habits.

In the video Carol will tap with you on the spot so that you can get moving right away! :)

Watch it now – don’t procrastinate! Ha, ha!

Feel like you’ve hit rock bottom? This video will help…

Have you ever had a moment in your life, maybe for just a few minutes, where you felt completely overwhelmed emotionally? So much so that it brought you a level of deep, gut wrenching pain?

Maybe it was finding out that you or a family member was sick, or maybe it was a really tough breakup, or perhaps it was a moment where you were just taken over by the stress of a really tough financial situation…

Sometimes those moments can make you feel like you’ve hit rock bottom, and as painful as they can be, the reality is that those moments can very healing for us and can allow us to move forward in a positive way.

My sister Jessica recently sat down in front of the camera and had a talk with Sonia Ricotti, author of the book “Unsinkable,” where Sonia discussed what to do when you hit these overwhelming moments and feel like you’ve hit rock bottom.

Sonia is known for her insights on how to bounce back stronger than ever from seemingly insurmountable situations, and in this video she discusses exactly that.

Just press play below to watch this video now:

Sonia talks on this subject because she’s been through tough situations herself. She shares one of those difficult moments where she found herself in tears at around 5 minutes.

I hope this video helps you to know that no matter how low you may feel, you can always bounce back. :)

Until next time…

Keep Tapping!

When I forget to Tap…(Going Public!)

Perhaps the statement and question I saw most often last week when I asked you to share your successes and challenges was, “Tapping has worked for me so well! It worked for X and Y and Z…but then I forget to do it! Why? How do I “fix” this?”

I wanted to briefly answer this question, because I think it’ll apply to 99% of us…it certainly applies to me…

Yes, yes, you got me.. The Tapping Guy (as I’m often referred to when people see me speak or in public!), forgets to tap!

I always laugh at myself when I forget to tap, seeing as I spend my days writing about tapping, speaking about tapping, running a business whose sole focus is on sharing this powerful technique with the world, and I forget to apply it??? I mean.. ;)

Now, this doesn’t happen often, but enough that it is comical when it does. So what’s really going on here? And what can we do about it?

Here are some quick thoughts:

A. This is all REALLY new. I’ve been using tapping for over a decade, but in the first 25 years of my life, I didn’t know it existed. Which means there are old patterns, ingrained habits, and simple ways of life that don’t include tapping, and it can take some work to change them. The same is likely for you.

B. This isn’t only new on the individual level, it’s new to our culture, which means we don’t have cultural reinforcements as a reminder (though a recent feature in DETAILS magazine and the upcoming Dr. Oz piece on July 15th are helping to change that!). So when you turn on the TV, you’re not going to see someone tapping on there. You will get plenty of reminders to eat food, drink alcohol, switch car insurance, buy a car and more but not to tap.

C. Oftentimes, we’re resistant to changing, even if that change will be a “positive” one. I devoted an entire chapter in my book to this topic, because it’s so important to understand and clear the resistance to changing.

So what to do- a simple prescription for this challenge:

A. Laugh at yourself. We often take ourselves, our personal development, our need to “fix” our lives, WAY too seriously. If I can laugh at myself when I forget to tap, then you can too. And that laughing at myself is really about COMPASSION. And it involves an understanding that YOU are doing the best you can with the resources YOU have, in that moment…as am I, as is the rest of the world.

B. Get practical. Post little sticky notes around that say, “Tap!” Maybe one next to the TV to combat the other commercials. Wear a bracelet or rubber band that serves as your tapping reminder. Establish simple routines: tapping in the shower, tapping before bed to release the stress and negativity for the day, etc. Set a daily alarm on your phone to remind you to tap, even if it’s just for 5 minutes.

C. Study and understand why you might be resistant to changing. Ask yourself, “What’s the downside of actually healing this/letting it go/improving my life?” If you’re really honest with yourself, the answers will surprise you and open up a whole new world of what’s possible in your life and for your future. (Extensive discussion of this topic can be found in “The Tapping Solution”)

I hope you found this helpful- now I’m going to go and tap on a pulled muscle in my shoulder that I’ve been ignoring for days. It doesn’t bother me much, so I’ve just kind of “dealt” with it, without wanting to take the time to tap on it…but now it’s time to let it go and release this pain.

Hmmm…how many things in our lives are like that? We just “deal” with them…when we could truly “release” them…

Just saying… :)

Until next time!

Keep Tapping,

Nick Ortner

Lissa Rankin Mind Over Medicine

Jessica recently sat down with NY Times best-selling author of “Mind Over Medicine,” Dr. Lissa Rankin, to talk about some revolutionary approaches to healing our bodies. In this short video conversation, you’ll learn:

- Why EFT Tapping works so well on a variety of “physical” issues.

- The vital importance of understanding the difference between our sympathetic and para-sympathetic nervous systems (and how it could be making all the difference in your healing)

- The surprising fact about how your doctor’s beliefs affect YOU!

Join Jessica and Lissa in this candid video conversation:

(and make sure to watch until the end of the video for a few good laughs)

Nick’s comments on the book:

“I’ve read Lissa’s book and HIGHLY recommend it.  It’s well-researched, comprehensive, fun and fast to read and will open your mind to some startling truths about ourselves, our bodies, and our ability to heal.”

The Long Term Effects of Stress – A 10 Year Study Reveals the Dangers

Everybody gets stressed out. That’s to be expected. In our hectic modern world, how could you not? It’s just something we have to deal with.

But that’s just the thing: do you actually deal with the tension and pressure you might be feeling due to work, family issues, or anything problematic? What do you tend to do when you’re stressed out?

If you don’t have an effective method with which to ease your stress, maybe it’s time for you to get one.  :)

The-Third-MetricThe other day I attended a private event at Arianne Huffington’s home in NYC called “The Third Metric Women’s Conference” (Yes, they let some men like me in!), where the topic of stress management was a prevalent topic.

My good friend, Dr. Mark Hyman spoke on one of the panels and was asked by Katie Couric to “Tell us about the impact your head has on your overall health and this whole mind-body connection.”

I loved his response when he said “If you really knew what was happening to you (in your body) when you were stressed, you’d freak out!  It’s not pretty.”  :)

He went on to list a myriad of things that happen in your body with stress and how it negatively impacts your body. (You can see the full clip by clicking here or clicking on the image above – I unfortunately wasn’t able to successfully embed the video on this page)

So on the topic of stress, today I thought I’d share an interesting new study that has revealed that people who don’t deal with their stress effectively are more likely to encounter some form of mental illness 10 years down the road. It’s a startling revelation that we all should take heed of.

The simple fact is that we need to effectively address our stress levels in order to remain in good health.

You may think that’s easier said than done, but I promise you it’s not. The stress you feel from time to time – or maybe all the time – is challenging, but it’s not undefeatable. If you’ve tried other methods before, only to give up after a few weeks or days, then you might want to consider using EFT Tapping more. It’s easy, fast, free, and most importantly, it works like a charm.  :)

Before I get to the study though, if you haven’t yet, please make sure to check out the webinar presentation that Jessica has been doing on the topic of using weight loss and body confidence.  You can check it out by clicking here.  She’s been getting phenomenal feedback on it.

One of the hormones that Dr. Mark Hyman mentioned in the video above was cortisol and how it’s been shown to lead to weight gain. Jessica goes into more detail on the webinar on these different hormones that are released with stress and how they effect the brain and body.  OK, back to this study…

How Stress Wears Your Mind Down

The study, recently published in the journal Psychological Science, was conducted by a team led by Susan Charles, a professor of psychology and social behavior at the University of California-Irvine. Entitled “The Wear and Tear of Daily Stressors on Mental Health,” the study revealed that “our responses to seemingly minor daily events have long term implications for mental health.”

The study looked at 711 men and women between the ages of 25 and 74. These subjects were asked questions about the stressors in their life and their reactions to them over a period of 8 days, both at the beginning of the study, and at its conclusion 10 years later.

What emerged was that those who reacted badly to whatever was making them stressed out at the beginning of the study were on average more likely to be suffering from anxiety problems or mood disorders a decade later. For most members of this subset, reactions of sadness, anger and anxiety – though seemingly regular and inconsequential – snowballed into more troubling mental health issues after a decade (A good reason to deal with your stress now with Tapping and not let it snowball out of control).

Think about your daily routine and the things that leave you feeling stressed out. Sometimes the culprits are big problems like serious health issues or financial troubles, but more often it’s the little things that wreak havoc on your peace of mind – your misbehaving child, repairs around the home that never seem to get done, or even an annoying disagreement with a boss or co-worker.

If we find ourselves getting consistently worked up over things that aren’t “the end of the world,” we tend to overlook the frustration we’re feeling and the impact that it’s having on our mental well being. The problem is that the effects of our reactions to these oh-so-minor issues are cumulative, and over time, our stress level remains consistently elevated. What this study reveals is that even this can be harmful to our mental health.

What does this mean? It means that with the constant stress we all find ourselves dealing with each day, we need to address and alleviate the stress in order to not have long term stress issues.

And what better tool is there than Tapping, which has been scientifically proven to reduce cortisol levels in the body? :)

Some Simple Resources

#1 – In my new book, The Tapping Solution: A Revolutionary System for Stress-Free Living, I detail how our brain works when we’re faced with stress of any kind, be it big or small. Our mind and body are intricately connected, so much so that distressing thoughts prompt a physical reaction, even if it’s unnoticeable.  If you haven’t picked up a copy of the book yet, I’m of course going to recommend that you do by going here.  :)

#2 – Jessica’s free webinar entitled “The Biological Weight Loss Trap” outlines exactly how to pinpoint the stressors from your past and present that can be keeping you from being healthy, losing weight and feeling confident in your body.  I can’t recommend this presentation enough.  It is truly powerful.  Check it out by clicking here.

#3 – If you’re not sure how to tap, take a look at this quick video for a walkthrough of the technique. Once you’ve gone through it once or twice on your own, you’ll get a feel for how to use this method to address the daily bothers and worries that have been plaguing you. Shhhh… Don’t Tell Anyone…

Perhaps because of my “story”…

How I had this crazy idea to make a documentary film about EFT Tapping, with no filmmaking experience, limited funds (my personal credit cards!) and no initial team, and yet somehow managed to get the film out into the world, create the Tapping World Summits, and write a NY Times best-selling book… people ask… “HOW???”

“How did you do it?”

And obviously, there were a lot of elements to this journey that can’t just be covered in one blog post (though I do share more of that journey in my book, but here I’d like to share one that I found and continue to find VITALLY important.

It’s a place where a lot of people struggle, and where, frankly, some amazing ideas find their way into the idea graveyard or garbage can, never seeing the light of day.

It’s a crucial point in time, in the process of creating a grand vision…

It’s…right…in…the…beginning….

…the… birth… of… this… fresh… young… tender… idea…

You know the feeling: Ahh…inspiration…! You’re relaxed, you’re taking a bath or a shower, you’re walking in the woods…and it hits you! “What if I create this?” “What if I start this?” “What if I change this?” “What if I do this?”

And it’s an exciting time! Yes! This is it! This is going to be great…this is going to change the world…this is going to change my life….I’m going to do it!

Now…hit Pause on that scene, because this is a crucial time in the life of an idea.

You have two choices here:

A. Tell others about it, tell the world about it, and take action

B. Stay silent and take action

What choice would you make here? What choice have you made in the past?

What do you think I’m going to recommend? Well, the title of this blog post might have given that answer away, “Shhh…don’t tell anyone…” :)

At this point in the lifecycle of an idea, I highly recommend you stay silent OR at the very most share it with one or two people who you REALLY, REALLY trust to give you positive feedback (though that can be really hard to find, so the preference is to stay silent!)

Why? Because this little (eventually big!) idea is just a little seedling. Like the young tender plants that my wife Brenna and I (mostly her!) have been planting and nurturing inside for the past couple of weeks, getting them strong and ready to be in the ground.

They need just the right amount of water, just the right amount of light, just the right amount of air…

So does your IDEA.

Let’s play out the opposite scenario, where you share your idea with someone, especially when it’s young, not fully formed, tender…

You say, “Hey John! I just had this great idea to do X…” and John says, “Really? Wow, I don’t know about that, sounds like it would be really hard…” Or even something a little bit more positive like… “That’s a really cool idea, but you have to be aware of this…”

Or whatever John says that isn’t 100% positive, nurturing and uplifting. THIS is the place where ideas die. THIS is the place where that initial enthusiasm gets squashed and you start questioning yourself, “Maybe John is right…”

(Important Note: Fortunately, with the power of Tapping, if you are in this place you can actually bring the idea back to life, by letting go of the limiting beliefs, the fears, what you heard, etc. If you’re not familiar with tapping, you can learn about it here: http://www.thetappingsolution.com/what-is-eft-tapping.php)

What’s crazy about this moment in the life cycle of the idea is that someone could be positive, but even give you a “look” that deflates your enthusiasm…and…the idea withers. We are, for better or worse, really influenced by our peers, our parents, our society (and again, you can tap on working to clear that influence!)

Now, let’s be honest here, the strength of your idea WILL be tested at some point. It’s a given. I’m not saying, “Never tell anyone about it!” because that’s obviously impossible. When I had the idea to make the film, I had to get buy-in from other people to support the vision. I had to share the idea. The key is to either:

A. Wait until you’ve thought about it more, started on the project (it’s harder for people to squash something you’ve already started!), and moved further down the line.

B. When the idea does get tested, wherever it is in its life cycle, TAP to clear out any fear, limiting beliefs, etc, as per above.

Right now, we’re getting ready to take our little plants outside into the garden. They’ve been growing, getting stronger every day, and we’ve even brought them outside for a few hours in their pots to help them strengthen, and then brought them back inside.

They’re now ready for the garden, and they will thrive and grow because of the care we’ve taken with them in the beginning.

Treat your ideas with that same tender care, and they will flourish, come to life, and manifest in this world!

“It is not once nor twice but times without number that the same ideas make their appearance in the world.” – Aristotle

(my addition to the quote: “So it’s not about having the idea, it’s about nurturing it to grow and spread in the world!)

Make sure to leave your comments, what direction you think you’ve taken in the past, and what direction you think you’ll take going forward.

Have you had a great idea that perhaps you shared a little too soon, and weren’t happy with the reaction of others? How did that make you feel? Did you tap on it?  What do you think about keeping the idea to yourself until it grows and strengthens?  Comment below!
