Michelle Obama’s Ex-Chief of Staff Hired Illegal CRIMINAL to Run A School District | The Gateway Pundit

Des Moines Schools Superintendent Dr. Ian Roberts taken into ICE custody after fleeing agents.

In 2023, the Des Moines School Board appointed Ian Andre Roberts as Superintendent of Schools, handing him one of the most lucrative contracts in Iowa public education.

His base salary started at $270,000. That alone should raise eyebrows in a state where teachers regularly earn less than $50,000 a year.

But what makes this case even more alarming is the fact that Roberts was an illegal immigrant with a criminal record when he was hired.

WATCH: Ilhan Omar Married Her Brother TO Get Citizenship

Roberts entered the United States legally but overstayed his visa.

By May 2024, he had received a final deportation order, yet he remained in charge of the entire Des Moines Public School District.

Worse still, when the board voted to hire him, they were already aware that Roberts had faced a weapons charge in 2020.

Despite these red flags, the school board proceeded with the appointment, prioritizing political connections and appearances over community safety and integrity.

The arrangement was not only reckless—it was expensive. According to the Des Moines Register, Roberts’ contract went far beyond a six-figure base salary.

Taxpayers were also on the hook for a payment to a “tax-sheltered annuity” equal to 14% of his annual pay. That comes out to nearly $38,000 per year.

Illegal Alien Ian Roberts somehow became Superintendent of Des Moines schools with a $270,000 SALARY + BENEFITS.

The Board Chair who HIRED him was Michelle Obama’s former CHIEF OF STAFF.

Do you see the Democrat Party TREND?

— Gregory Lyakhov (@GregoryLyakhov) September 27, 2025

Add in a $600 monthly car allowance and reimbursements for “all in-district related travel,” and Roberts’ total compensation package soared well above $300,000 annually.

The school board defended Roberts’ credentials, touting his academic background.

He claimed to hold a Doctorate in Urban Education Leadership from St. John’s University. Yet a quick look at St. John’s own website shows no such degree exists.

At best, the claim is misleading; at worst, it suggests Roberts embellished his resume while being considered for one of the most powerful education jobs in the state.

At the center of this scandal is Jackie Norris, the Board Chair who oversaw Roberts’ appointment.

Norris is no ordinary school official. She is a longtime Democrat who previously served as Chief of Staff to First Lady Michelle Obama.

Her resume includes time as CEO of Goodwill of Central Iowa and leadership roles at Points of Light, a global nonprofit.

Today she runs a consulting business, the Horizon Group.

With those political connections and a national profile, Norris’ influence helped pave the way for Roberts to secure the superintendent job despite glaring concerns.

This is more than just a bad hire. It exposes the extent to which political favoritism and negligence can jeopardize local schools.

At a time when public trust in institutions is already fragile, the Des Moines School Board’s decision to put an illegal immigrant with a weapons charge in charge of taxpayer dollars and children’s education is indefensible.

Harman rules the audio market, but is that a good thing?

Harman International has finally completed the acquisition of Sound United, bringing brands such as Bowers & Wilkins, Denon & Marantz, Polk Audio and others under the Harman name.

It’s an impressive roster of audio brands – likely the strongest line-up in the hi-fi industry. But it also feels a bit… strange.

Not necessarily bad strange but like a lot of industries at the moment, the word “consolidation” is popular, and from one perspective, it could be seen as a good thing, viewed from another and it might shine a light on the struggles of the hi-fi industry in today’s rapidly changing world.

The woes of hi-fi

While the hi-fi industry is one that racks in annual sales that likely run into the billions, it has struggled to court a new audience that cares, and most importantly, values audio like previous generations.

The smartphone has also had a massive effect. People interact with their smartphones more than any other device, and as such, the industry has positioned its products towards smartphones, devices that act as a gateway to using music streamers, music streaming services, headphones or active speakers whether it’s through Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

Traditional hi-fi is seen as too complicated for some, and a smartphone makes it more accessible. You’d hope.

Formation DuoImage Credit (Trusted Reviews)

What’s also affected the industry are companies that have bought hi-fi brands and don’t seem to understand them or have tried to bend them to their will. This is where we get to the issues with Bowers & Wilkins and Sound United.

B&W was bought by EVA Automation in 2016, which went down the route of networked devices in the Formation series. Bowers hasn’t launched any new products in that range for several years. It wasn’t a match made in heaven, the software and hardware didn’t get on too well.

Masimo – a company whose expertise was in medical technology – bought Sound United and gulped up a whole load of hi-fi brands. An odd situation became messier the longer it went on, with Masimo seemingly pushing in one direction while the Sound United brands were looking elsewhere.

When Masimo bought Sound United, it did so for $1bn. Three years later, it sold for $350 million. Mismanagement? Lack of cohesion? Poor leadership? Whatever the case, it did not work.

The Harman buyout makes sense

Harman is a company with massive audio heritage – JBL is one of the biggest audio brands on this planet, and you also have Harman Kardon, AKG, Mark Levinson, Arcam and others. It is hopefully going to turn that money tap on and invest in these brands too.

For Harman, the expectation is these brands won’t compete as if they were rivals. In an interview with What Hi-Fi, Dave Rogers, President of the Lifestyle Division at Harman, said as much in that they won’t be tinkering with what these brands offer but would take learnings and leverage them as a whole.

AKG true wirelessAKG true wirelessImage Credit (Trusted Reviews)

Consolidation can have adverse effects – you’d only need to look at Hollywood to see an industry get smaller and smaller and make less money because of it. There’s always a worry that a company swallowing another could see a reduction in innovation, of brands doing the same thing but slightly differently.

Sound United now has owners who understand the market. Though my knowledge of Harman’s previous acquisitions is limited, I’d assume there have been some buyouts that haven’t worked out. But here’s hoping Harman International doesn’t tinker with the character of the brands. Otherwise, what was the point of buying them in the first place?

How much is too much?

This issue is one I’ve alluded to above, but all these brands working alongside each other is a tricky situation. They can’t all be a success.

Denon & Marantz will cross over with Arcam in the AVR market in some ways. Bowers & Wilkins will mingle with JBL and AKG in the headphones market; as well as JBL and Revel in the premium loudspeaker market, and the likes of Infinity and Mark Levinson in the car audio market. Roon vs HEOS. That all feels a bit tight.

Would Bowers & Wilkins ever launch a portable wireless speaker a la JBL? If that was ever on the cards that seems less likely now. Would the same technology be used across multiple brands, reducing costs and streamlining production processes? Maybe. It hasn’t happened so far – JBL soundbars are different from Samsung, despite going after the same market.

JBL PartyBox 520 brandingJBL PartyBox 520 brandingImage Credit (Trusted Reviews)

Harman International can exploit the success these companies have had in their respective markets – Defnitive Technology in the US, Bowers in Asia, JBL in, well, everywhere. But staying in the same lane can get a bit boring after a while.

If there’s a worry that I have, it’s not that these companies won’t be allowed to do what they already do anymore. It’s that they won’t be able to do the unexpected, something that surprises, something that could draw in a bigger audience.

Because that’s what the hi-fi industry requires.

Democrat Oregon Governor Tina Kotek Claims Portland is “Safe and Calm” While Begging Trump Not to Send Troops to Her Anarchist-Riddled Hellhole: “We Will be Prepared to Respond if We Have to” | The Gateway Pundit

Oregon Governor Tina Kotek flanked by state and local officials in Portland, delivering a defiant press conference rejecting President Trump’s plan to deploy federal troops to the city.

Oregon’s Democrat Governor Tina Kotek openly declared war on President Trump’s plan to restore order in Portland, telling the President of the United States to “stand down” and keep federal troops out of her state, even as Antifa terrorists and far-left agitators have spent years terrorizing the city.

At a press conference in downtown Portland, Kotek dismissed Trump’s announcement of a military deployment as an “abuse of power” and a “misuse of federal troops.”

Kotek insisted Oregon does not need national support, despite Portland’s well-documented history of firebombings, riots, and violent assaults carried out under the Antifa banner.

This comes after President Trump announced on Truth Social that he was deploying U.S. military forces to Portland to protect ICE facilities and safeguard the city from the violent mobs that have turned Oregon’s largest city into a war zone.

Trump’s decisive action, led by the newly appointed Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, now rightfully dubbed the “Secretary of War,” aims to put an end to the radical left’s reign of terror once and for all.

Read more:

Full Force Authorized: President Trump Orders Troops to Portland, OR, and Other Cities, to Protect ICE From Antifa and Other Domestic Terrorists

The unhinged governor portrayed Portland as a thriving, peaceful city.

She even suggested that Trump’s warnings were nothing more than “outdated media coverage” and “misinformation.”

She called Trump’s plan an attempt to “stoke fear” and “create conflict,” claiming Oregon’s only real problems were the “cost of living” and housing affordability.

Just last week, radical anarchists reportedly firebombed the tour bus of rapper Ice Cube, apparently confusing it for an ICE deportation bus.

Tina Kotek:
In my conversations directly with President Trump and Secretary Noem, I have been abundantly clear with them that Portland and the State of Oregon believe in the rule of law, and we can manage our own local public safety needs. There is no insurrection. There is no threat to national security. There is no need for military troops in our major city. Military service members should be dedicated to real emergencies.

The members of the Oregon National Guard—their mission is to stand up and protect Oregonians, and they will do that every day—but they are not needed in the city. They are not needed here.

You can tell because you’re here with me in Portland. You can see that this city is safe and calm. It is a beautiful day to be here. For those of you who are here downtown or watching at home, you know that our city is not the place that people think it is from years ago.

There’s business thriving. People are coming downtown. They are enjoying this community. We have students who are ready to go see The Lion King tonight at the Keller Auditorium. People are going to the Timbers match. People are downtown shopping. Folks who are getting ready to go to work at the restaurants here that make the Rose City a culinary capital are preparing for their shifts.

People are shopping. People are going to the farmer’s markets or the Saturday Market. Portland is doing just fine. I made that very clear to the President this morning. Our city is a far cry from the war-ravaged community that he has posted about on social media. I conveyed that directly to him: we got this, we are good, we are doing fine.

I also said to him: we have to be careful not to respond to outdated media coverage or misinformation that’s out there. We know what’s happening in our own city, and we are doing just fine. That being said, we do face real challenges in Portland, as does the rest of the country. We’re worried about the cost of living. We want our schools to do what is necessary for our students, and we want to make sure that people have good jobs and homes they can afford.

I need help for those kinds of things—and that’s the help I need—not having military troops from the federal government in our state.

President Trump’s inconceivable insistence that we need federal troops in Portland does not address the real concerns in our communities. We do not need or want federal troops in Oregon stoking fear, creating conflict, and frankly, escalating a situation that is under control.

Any federal takeover with military troops in our state is a threat to communities across Oregon. It violates our right to govern ourselves. It interferes with local law enforcement’s ability to fulfill their mission. Frankly, it drains taxpayer resources that could be better spent elsewhere. Again, I communicated that to the President directly.

Oregon is our home. It is not a military target. Any deployment would be an abuse of power and a misuse of federal troops. People across the state and across the political spectrum here in Oregon are uniting together to peacefully oppose policies they do not agree with.

I believe in free speech and the ability to lawfully and peacefully protest. I have a message for Oregonians: let’s not take the bait. Let’s not respond to what the President is trying to do.

We have to raise our voices—absolutely peacefully—for the things that we believe in. But I also want to say that any property damage or violence of any kind will get us nowhere and will not be tolerated.

If you want to stand in opposition to the Trump administration, I would ask that you lean into supporting your community, helping people, making things better here—because that’s who we are as Oregonians.

I just want to wrap up by saying I believe the President does not have the authority to deploy federal troops on state soil. I’m coordinating with Attorney General Dan Rayfield to see if any response is necessary, and we will be prepared to respond if we have to.

Chicago Teachers Union, Rolling Stone Magazine, and Various Liberals Celebrate Memory of COP KILLER Assata Shakur | The Gateway Pundit

Screencap of YouTube video.

As the Gateway Pundit reported last night, the cop killer and escaped domestic terrorist Assata Shakur has died in Cuba.

Today, the same crowd that could not find a positive thing to say about Charlie Kirk after his assassination, celebrated the memory of Shakur, who was imprisoned for bank robbery, murder, and other crimes.

It is beyond stunning.

FOX News reported:

Chicago Teachers Union honors Black militant convicted cop-killer after death in Cuba, drawing backlash

The Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) mourned the death of a convicted murderer on the FBI’s Most Wanted Terrorists list in an X post Friday.

“Rest in Power, Rest in Peace, Assata Shakur,” the CTU’s post read. “Today we honor the life and legacy of a revolutionary fighter, a fierce writer, a revered elder of Black liberation, and a leader of freedom whose spirit continues to live in our struggle.

“Assata refused to be silenced. She taught us that ‘It is our duty to fight for our freedom. It is our duty to win. We must love each other and support each other. We have nothing to lose but our chains.’”

Cuban officials announced Friday that Shakur, who was born JoAnne Deborah Byron and was also known as Joanne Chesimard, died in Havana decades after escaping prison and fleeing to the communist nation.

In 1977, Shakur was convicted of the murder of State Trooper Werner Foerster during a 1973 shootout on the New Jersey Turnpike. Foerster left behind a wife and 3-year-old son. She escaped from prison in 1979 and lived underground before surfacing in Cuba in 1984.

Look at this.

There’s more. Here’s Rolling Stone magazine.

Joe Rogan Stunned by Liberal Pregnant Women Downing Tylenol to Own Trump: ‘This Science Came From Harvard’ (VIDEO) | The Gateway Pundit

Screencap of Twitter/X video.

People have often joked that if Trump said breathing air is good for you, liberals would start dying of suffocation. Now we know there is some real truth behind that.

As the Gateway Pundit has reported, once the Trump administration cautioned pregnant women from taking Tylenol, pregnant liberal women started going on the internet and downing Tylenol, even filming it, in some cases with disastrous results.

On a recent episode of his podcast, Joe Rogan commented on this, noting that this science has been backed up by Harvard.

The Daily Caller reports:

Podcast host Joe Rogan on “The Joe Rogan Experience” Friday called out pregnant women who have been filming themselves consuming Tylenol in objection to President Donald Trump’s administration’s recommendation not to do so.

TikTok users ingested large amounts of Tylenol to mock Trump and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. after announcing the findings of an association between the use of acetaminophen by pregnant women and autism diagnoses in children. Rogan noted on his podcast that the Trump administration cited a Harvard study to support its findings.

“I’ve been fascinated by these videos of pregnant women taking Tylenol to show Trump that they don’t believe in what RFK Jr. is saying, that it’s somehow or another anti-science — when this science came from Harvard,” Rogan said. “That’s where the study came from. He’s not making things up. And these people are like on TikTok — they’re pregnant women taking Tylenol.”

3 Killed, 8 Wounded in Mass Shooting: Gunman Opens Fire From Boat on Southport, North Carolina Dockside Restaurant | The Gateway Pundit

A gunman in a boat pulled up to the American Fish Company restaurant dock in the North Carolina coastal town of Southport’s Southport Yacht Basin Saturday night and opened fire, killing three and wounding eight according to a city official. The shooter escaped via the Intracoastal Waterway, however a person of interest was being interviewed according to a late update.

Photo via the American Gish Company website.

The City of Southport earlier posted an active shooter alert to Facebook at 9:53 p.m. EDT:, “There are reports of an active shooter in the Southport Yacht Basin. There is an unknown number of injuries. Avoid the area and remain in your homes. Please report any suspicious activity immediately to 911.”

Excerpt from the Wilmington Star News:

According to ChyAnn Ketchum, public information officer for the city of Southport, three people were killed and eight others were injured Saturday, Sept. 27.

Around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, a boat pulled up to the American Fish Company restaurant dock, paused and then the shooter fired into the crowd, Ketchum said. The boat fled up the Intracoastal Waterway, she said.

Photos from the scene were posted by the Star News at their website:

The Raleigh news Observer gave background on the location of the shooting (excerpt):

Southport is about 160 miles southeast of Raleigh and 32 miles south of Wilmington. The Southport Yacht Basin is on the Cape Fear River and is home to several riverfront restaurants.

American Fish Co. bills itself as Southport’s “best waterfront pub,” and was scheduled to have live music on its dock Saturday night.
