2025 has had some fantastic foldables – but the best is still to come
To me, 2025 represents the year that foldables have finally gone mainstream.
They’re still absurdly expensive, yes, but prices are starting to creep down, and more importantly, the hardware finally feels mature.
No longer are you spending almost double the cost of a regular phone to get something that’s all-round more fragile and delicate, while simultaneously being much thicker and heavier than the phones you’re used to.
But, dear reader, what could very well be the best foldable yet is still to come – and it could be here sooner rather than later.
The maturing foldable phone marketThere’s no shortage of fantastic foldables available in 2025, with manufacturers across the board stepping up their game in one way or another.

In the world of clamshell-style foldables, the likes of the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 represent solid alternatives to regular bar phones.
Image Credit (Trusted Reviews)The Razr 60 Ultra impresses with its huge 4-inch cover screen that allows you to do basically anything you’d do on the larger internal display, from running third-party apps to replying to messages, while the Z Flip 7’s modern design feels solid, durable and all-round more premium.
There are real improvements to battery life too, with both Samsung and Motorola’s foldables no longer struggling to last all day without scrambling for a charger.

Image Credit (Trusted Reviews)But arguably, it’s the larger book-style foldables that have stolen the show this year – and for good reason.
Oppo came flying out of the gates with its impressive Find N5 early this year, offering the slimmest build from any foldable yet at just 4.2mm folded and 8.9mm unfolded – though with very limited availability, most of us never got to experience it for ourselves.
Months later, Samsung responded with its alternative, the significantly upgraded Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. Unlike recent iterations of Sammy’s top-end foldable, the Fold 7 represents a huge upgrade that, like the Find N5, focuses mainly on a slimline build. At a similar 4.2mm unfolded and 8.9mm folded, and weighing 215g, it certainly achieved that aim, being lighter than phones like the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Image Credit (Trusted Reviews)More importantly, it didn’t come at the expense of the overall experience; the phone still provided all-day battery life, a solid camera experience, genuinely helpful software tweaks and some fantastic screen upgrades, with a seriously reduced crease.
Hot on its heels, Honor replied with its Magic V5, which at the time of writing, is the thinnest foldable around at 4.1mm and 8.8mm – though that’s just if you go for the Ivory White finish.
Semantics aside, Honor’s foldable really pushes the boundaries of foldable tech with a massive 5820mAh battery – the biggest in a foldable yet – along with top-end performance, fast charging and a capable trio of rear lenses.

Image Credit (Trusted Reviews)It’s not just about being thin and light though; Google’s upcoming Pixel 10 Pro Fold might not be as light and thin as Samsung and Honor’s alternative, but it’s the first to offer full IP68 dust and water resistance, just like a regular flagship bar phone.
Considering debris like dust has traditionally been the foldable killer, getting into intricate components like the hinge and foldable screen, the Pixel’s dustproof nature represents a significant step in foldable development.

These are all significant steps forward for foldables that, just a few years ago, were massively thick and heavy and pretty delicate. But, for me, it’s the form factor that needs to be updated – and that’s why I’m so excited about Samsung’s long-awaited tri-fold.
The Samsung tri-fold could change the foldable gameTeased at Galaxy Unpacked way back in January as part of its roadmap of devices, the tri-fold is exactly what it sounds like – a foldable with three segments.
It’s not an entirely new concept; Huawei’s competing Mate XT has been around for a while now, and after getting the opportunity to play with it at MWC 2025 earlier this year, I can confirm that it perfects the foldable formula.
You get a smartphone-esque cover screen, a book-style larger internal screen, and an additional screen panel that expands and turns the phone into a tablet – a tablet with a semi-regular widescreen aspect ratio, just like other tablets.

Image Credit (Trusted Reviews)It makes a lot of sense; you use the cover screen for quick tasks, the ‘regular’ foldable screen for slightly more intensive tasks like writing emails or browsing the web, while the new ‘tablet’ layout allows for a proper big-screen experience for gaming and watching Netflix – all in a single device.
Now, the problem with Huawei’s foldable is exactly that; it’s from Huawei. The company undoubtedly makes some of the best mobile hardware around, but with US sanctions still in place, it can’t utilise Google Play Services and, as such, Google services and apps like Google Play and Google Maps.
That makes the top-end tablet a non-starter for pretty much anybody outside of China – and explains why the tablet hasn’t seen quite as wide a release as some might’ve hoped.

Image Credit (Trusted Reviews)This is where Samsung could excel with its tri-fold alternative; it has access to Google Play and the ability to ship the foldable worldwide, making it way more widely available than Huawei’s alternative.
It’s rumoured to feature a titanium and aluminium frame, allegedly for better durability, along with a top-end Snapdragon chipset and a whopping 16GB of RAM to boot. The consensus is that it’ll sport the same Snapdragon 8 Elite as the Galaxy S25 collection, but with Qualcomm revealing the next-gen Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 recently, we could see the new chipset.
It’d make sense for the top-end foldable flagship to offer the very best performance, after all.
Rumours point towards a reveal in the coming weeksThe most recent rumours point towards a potential announcement on either 31 October or 1 November at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit.
That aligns well with claims from Samsung itself, with the company confirming earlier this year that it’d see the light of day by the end of 2025. That said, it was also rumoured to be revealed on 29 September and, as we now know, that didn’t happen – so probably best to take this rumour with a pinch of salt.
There are also whispers that it could be exclusive to South Korea and China, which would make sense; it’s a very expensive and experimental product, after all.
However, CNN, citing a “person familiar with the company’s plans,” claims that Samsung is “considering” launching the phone in the US – and if it launches there, there’s a good chance it could also reach other markets, such as the UK and EU.
I’ve certainly got my fingers crossed, because the launch of Samsung’s tri-fold could be the most significant launch since the reveal of the first Z Fold back in 2019.
24-year-old Venezuelan who posed as a 16-year-old student at an Ohio school for 15 months faces up to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to fraud and forgery
In the quiet suburb of Perrysburg, Ohio, a shocking case of identity fraud has come to light. Anthony Emmanuel Labrador-Sierra, a 24-year-old Venezuelan national, allegedly infiltrated Perrysburg High School by posing as a 16-year-old unaccompanied minor. The deception lasted for more than 15 months.
HOLY SHLIT. Anthony Emmanuel Labrador Sierra, a 24yo Venezuelan national, was arrested in Ohio after he reportedly posed as a 16yo in order to enroll in school back in January of 2024.
Anthony was in the US under a Temporary Protected Status during Biden’s presidency.

— Libs of TikTok (@libsoftiktok) May 20, 2025
The scheme began in November 2023, when Labrador-Sierra contacted school officials claiming he was a homeless immigrant trafficked from Venezuela. He presented a forged Venezuelan birth certificate listing his birthdate as December 2, 2007, making him appear 16 years old.
Because federal law requires public schools to enroll unhoused students, Perrysburg Schools followed protocol and admitted him on January 11, 2024, under the name “Anthony Labrador.” He qualified as an unaccompanied minor without legal guardians.
A local couple, identified in police reports as the Mefferds, believed his story and welcomed him into their home. In early 2024, Wood County Juvenile Court granted them temporary guardianship, which later became permanent.

— Illegal Alien Crimes (@ImmigrantCrimes) May 21, 2025
With their support, Labrador-Sierra obtained official documents, including a Social Security number and an Ohio driver’s license. He even applied for Temporary Protected Status (TPS), a federal program that shields certain immigrants from deportation and allows work authorization. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services approved his application based on the fraudulent birthdate.
On February 29, 2024, he submitted another TPS-related application through the University of Toledo College of Law, again using the false 2007 birthdate.
In reality, Labrador-Sierra had entered the U.S. legally in September 2019 on a B-2 tourist visa through Miami International Airport. He was 18 at the time. His visa expired in 2020, making him an overstay. U.S. Border Patrol later confirmed his true birthdate: March 27, 2001.
Despite his age, Labrador-Sierra blended into school life seamlessly. He joined the junior varsity soccer team, competing against students as young as 14. Teammates noticed his size, with one player telling local media: “He just looked more built. He looked more like a man».
He also swam for the JV team. The district reported his participation to the Ohio High School Athletic Association. Questions arose about eligibility rules for immigrants.
The fraud extended beyond the school. In July 2022, Labrador-Sierra purchased a Taurus G3C 9mm semiautomatic pistol at Bass Pro Shops in Rossford, Ohio. On the ATF Form 4473, he falsely claimed U.S. citizenship and used a fraudulent Ohio driver’s license. An ATF trace confirmed the purchase. Authorities later found the firearm hidden under his mattress, along with three loaded 9mm magazines, cash, a prepaid cell phone, and a fake Michigan driver’s license.
The scheme unraveled on May 14, 2025, when a woman identified as E.C. contacted the Mefferds. She claimed Labrador-Sierra was the father of her 2-year-old child and provided proof: photos of his legitimate Ohio driver’s license and Social Security card, both listing the 2001 birthdate.
E.C. also shared Facebook images—one showing her with Labrador-Sierra, another of him with the child. Additional posts from a family member’s account surfaced, including a March 27 post captioned “Happy birthday son” showing him in a Perrysburg soccer uniform.
When confronted by administrators on May 15, 2025, Labrador-Sierra denied the allegations, insisting the 2007 birth certificate was genuine. The school barred him from campus pending investigation.
Perrysburg Police, working with U.S. Border Patrol, quickly confirmed his true identity: a 24-year-old visa overstay illegally present in the U.S. On May 19, 2025, officers arrested him during a traffic stop on Interstate 75.
Bodycam footage captured the arrest. He was charged with felony forgery in Wood County Municipal Court and held on $50,000 bond.
ICE lodged a detainer on May 21, 2025. Local charges were dropped on May 29 as federal authorities took over. By June 25, 2025, a federal grand jury in the Northern District of Ohio indicted Labrador-Sierra on four counts:
• Possession of a firearm by an alien unlawfully in the U.S. (up to 15 years)
• Making a false statement during firearm purchase (up to 10 years)
• Two counts of making or using false writings/documents (up to 5 years each)
Prosecutors said he falsified TPS and employment authorization applications in 2024 and 2025, describing his actions as a “complex tapestry of lies.”
Initially, Labrador-Sierra pleaded not guilty. But on September 22, 2025, in Toledo federal court, he changed his plea to guilty on all four counts. Sentencing is scheduled for January 23, 2026, and he faces up to 30 years in prison.
This case underscores the vulnerabilities of TPS, a program enacted in 1990 to aid nationals from war-torn or disaster-stricken countries. Venezuela was designated in 2021 due to its ongoing crisis, and as of 2025, more than 500,000 Venezuelans hold TPS. Critics argue the system enables fraud and abuse due to insufficient vetting.
As this case nears its conclusion, it raises broader questions about security, immigration enforcement, and public safety. A grown man armed with lies, documents, and even a firearm infiltrated a high school and exploited laws meant to protect the vulnerable.
Conservatives have long warned: weak enforcement invites abuse. Until the U.S. prioritizes strict vetting, prevents overstays, and strengthens protections for citizens, cases like this will continue—eroding trust, one forged birth certificate at a time.

JUST IN: Hegseth Abruptly Fires Top Navy Aide | The Gateway Pundit
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth abruptly fired top Navy aid Jon Harrison on Friday.
Harrison’s firing as the Chief of Staff to the Secretary of the Navy comes after Hung Cao was confirmed as the Navy Undersecretary this week.

Excerpt from Politico:
Defense Secretary Pete Hesgeth on Friday fired Navy chief of staff Jon Harrison, an unusually powerful top aide who had orchestrated a reshuffle of the service’s bureaucracy.
The sudden ouster, according to two defense officials and a former defense official, follows the confirmation this week of Navy Undersecretary Hung Cao.
The Pentagon, in a statement, confirmed Harrison’s departure. “He will no longer serve as Chief of Staff to the Secretary of the Navy,” it said. “We are grateful for his service to the Department.”
The Navy secretary’s chief of staff has traditionally been a behind-the-scenes job, the senior aide who keeps everything moving smoothly. But Harrison, a Trump administration appointee who joined the service in January, had a rare level of power.
Harrison and Navy Secretary John Phelan had introduced sweeping changes to the Navy’s policy and budgeting offices and sought to limit the influence of the undersecretary job.
Friday’s firing was part of the latest shakeup at the Pentagon.
Over the summer, Hegseth fired the general in charge of the agency that released the dubious ‘top secret’ intelligence assessment about the US’s strikes on Iranian nuclear sites.
Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Kruse was fired as head of the Defense Intelligence Agency.
Earlier this year, Hegseth formally terminated the service of every member sitting on the Department of Defense’s advisory committees.

Barack and Michelle Obama Wish Each Other a Happy 33rd Anniversary and No One is Buying It | The Gateway Pundit
The Obamas posted the obligatory ‘Happy Anniversary’ love messages to each other on Friday.
Rumors that the Obamas were headed for a divorce began in December after Michelle Obama skipped Jimmy Carter’s funeral and announced she wouldn’t be attending Trump’s inauguration.
The two have tried to shut down divorce rumors by posting love notes on social media, but most aren’t buying it since they are rarely spotted together in public and Michelle Obama routinely trashes her husband on her podcast.
Michelle Obama recently took a nasty public swipe at her husband, Barack Obama.
The former First Lady said during her podcast over the summer that she’s glad she doesn’t have a son because he would’ve been just like her husband.
“Because he would’ve been a Barack Obama,” Michelle said.
After her public barbs, Michelle Obama posted a photo of her snuggling up next to Barack with another love note for their 33rd anniversary.
“We’ve been on quite the journey over the last 33 years—and yet, I love you even more today than the day we said “I do,”” Michelle Obama said. “Happy anniversary, @BarackObama! I’m so lucky to go through life with you.

Leftists in Portland, Oregon Planning ‘Emergency’ Naked Bike Ride to Protest Trump and ICE (VIDEO) | The Gateway Pundit
Leftists in Portland, Oregon have decided that the best way to protest Trump and ICE is to organize a naked bike ride. Is this a serious place? Do people from Portland expect the rest of the country to respond with anything but laughter?
Portland is known for naked bike rides and the event usually takes place in summer, but remember – this is an emergency naked bike ride.
What exactly is this supposed to achieve?
Oregon Live reports:
Suiting up for Portland’s ‘emergency’ Naked Bike Ride? Here’s what to expect
Nearly six thousand nude or mostly nude people have been known to show up for the traditional Portland World Naked Bike Ride.
The annual summertime ride has been a long time protest movement with the mission of calling attention to oil dependency, cyclist vulnerability and the beauty of body freedom.
On Wednesday, Naked Hearts PDX and a splinter group from World Naked Bike Ride sent out a joint rallying cry for an “emergency” impromptu ride with a new mission: Protesting the Trump Administration’s decision to send 200 federalized National Guard troops to Portland.
With this timely mission in mind, it’s quite possible an all-new crowd will choose to participate in the peaceful protest.
We gathered 10 pieces of basic advice from former nude biking participants to help ease the worries of any newcomers.
Yes, nudity is the hook that grabs the international attention, but it is not required.
Some folks choose to go full commando. Others go topless or cover themselves with strategically placed body paint. There’s no shame in wearing underwear or swimsuits. The goal is to feel comfortable and confident in whatever level of dress (or undress) feels right for you.
Here’s a short video report:

Fire Rebuilding Official in Malibu, California Resigns in Frustration Over Slow Pace of Reconstruction and Lack of Permits (VIDEO) | The Gateway Pundit
The pace of rebuilding in Malibu, California is going very slowly. Ridiculously slowly. The fires were ten months ago, but in Malibu, only TWO rebuilding permits have been issued.
One local official, a volunteer ‘Fire Rebuild Ambassador’ named Abe Roy resigned this week out of frustration.
Meanwhile, California Governor Gavin Newsom is wasting his time trying to ‘own’ Trump on Twitter, while Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass spends all of her time complaining about Trump and ICE on liberal cable news networks.
Is there any wonder why nothing is getting done?
The Westside Current reports:
Malibu Rebuild Ambassador Resigns, Urges Mayor to Step Down Over Slow Post-Fire Recovery
Malibu’s volunteer fire rebuild ambassador resigned this week and called on Mayor Marianne Riggins to step down, citing what he described as an untenable pace of reconstruction following January’s wildfires.
Abe Roy, appointed in late May as the city’s “Fire Rebuild Ambassador,” told the City Council at a Monday meeting that he was leaving the post and later urged Riggins to “gracefully step down,” saying the city is “prioritizing politics over permits.” “Two permits issued in nearly 10 months is an abomination by any standard,” Roy said.
Roy’s resignation caps months of mounting frustration among homeowners who lost properties in the Palisades and Franklin fires and say they are facing costly studies, duplicative reviews and shifting standards before they can rebuild.
City figures cited in news reports show roughly 720 structures were destroyed; 69 projects have initial planning approval, and only two have received building permits, allowing construction to start.
In an interview with Westside Current, Roy said Malibu’s process has been “intentionally made difficult” over decades to slow development — an approach he said is ill-suited to disaster recovery.
See the video of Roy resigning below:
Breitbart News adds this update:
According to the state government’s rebuilding dashboard, the City of Los Angeles has issued 680 rebuilding permits (out of 1,691 applications), and Los Angeles County has issued 491 (out of 2,084 applications).
Malibu was also devastated by the Woolsey Fire in 2018 and by the Franklin Fire in December 2024, just weeks before the Palisades Fire.
Fewer than half of the homes destroyed in the Woolsey Fire have been rebuilt. As with the Palisades Fire, administrative fees and delays are part of the process. So, too, are fights with insurance companies about payouts for coverage.
Gavin Newsom, Karen Bass, and the entire Los Angeles city council should resign. Their response to the fires has been an utter disgrace.
