I will, in time, write an actual review of Toy Soldier. I’m still in keyboard smash mode about the fatigues, the beautiful symmetry of the broken toy soldier, and Sherlock getting his very own soldier - that came broken, but he was able to fix.
Keyboard smash mode is already a really good review! :D But yay for catching the thing about Mycroft breaking Sherlock’s toy and him not being able to fix it, and the parallel of him meeting a broken real life soldier and being able to fix him immediately. :)))) Brilliant, you! Only one other person has caught (or at least remarked upon) that! so far! <33333

It hasn’t even been anon (I don’t allow those!)! Just direct screamy emails and whatnot. She never said that - Raven’s wording was something like that that was the general tone of her tweet. The Daily Mail (absolute trash rag English tabloid) speculated that perhaps Martin was Ben’s best man for the wedding and A tweeted that it was “bowel-shatteringly, mind-numblingly wrong… oh how we laughed and laughed!” I just question how the strength and violence of that language is necessary for someone she’s all chummy with, you know? It just seems odd coming from the same person who posted the whole series that this comes from:
It just reads to me as though she does like the thought of them being friends unless she’s right there in the middle of it, too. She’s said explicitly that she disagrees that Johnlock is anything other than Freebatch, which isn’t true. As someone who creates fanwork and staunchly, fiercely believes in the right of people to do so, I just have problems with some of her stances, and definitely with some of this behaviour.
I’m with her on animal abuse and animal rights. I’ll say that. I don’t think she’s the worst human alive or anything along those lines. If she had never been on the show, I suspect I would have nothing but affection for her.

*clings* This made me cry, in the right ways. Thank you!!!! I had an unpopular opinion and had the nerve to express it. I don’t like it when people are twats to or about Benedict and I said so about one person in particular. An apparently beloved person. Who plays Ms Morstan. You know. I should have known better, though plenty of people expressed their agreement. Still.

Messages shrieking at me, nasty posts written about me, etc - yeah. It’s been great. I’m sort of desperately hoping that people are reading my new fic and thinking about that instead. I’m going to crawl into a hole and stay there, I think.

True, but as I’ve already said, the rest of his colleagues aren’t on twitter 24/7, either. Most of them are wise enough to avoid social media. Also see my point (in my reblog of Raven’s comments) about announcing that you’re going to see a play, then meticulously not saying anything about the performance afterward. It just looks strange, particularly coupled with the serious nastiness of tweets like the “bowel-shatteringly wrong” one, you know?
It’s only my personal theory about the rift. We’ll probably never know.
