SilentAuror, this is meant to be a private message to you. As someone who follows your work and appreciate your insightful input into the fandom, I agree with your last post. It has been a very badly managed process and it created such a sour taste for the

(part 2) I’ve never seen Laura overstating her role, commenting on the way she is portrayed in the johnlock fandom. Professional stance requires that and you need that distance as an actor as well. I am quite disappointed and hope their self-silencing and auto-control doesn’t affect they relate to their roles. It is sabotaging an amazing production and an amazing acting chemistry! Also, maybe there is something else between those two but because of the interference, we can’t even see.

_

I agree - though Lara did like to sort of suggest that she and Ben were possibly more involved than he ever suggested they were. But yeah, she’s otherwise maintained a solid distance from the fandom, been generally lovely with fans, and otherwise zipped her lips about fanwork, etc. I agree about the chemistry, too. They should have gone the professional route and auditioned the role. The nepotism is a bit much in this show and in this particular case, it backfired, at least in my opinion. She did a fine job of acting the role, but just the interpersonal chemistry offscreen is problematic, as is her utter lack of professionalism.

Come to Montreal to see Hamlet broadcast on October 15! I have spare room. :)

GASP!! IT’S PLAYING IN MTL???????????? OMG OMG OMG! I am so there!!!!! I have friends who would be mortally offended if I don’t stay with them, but do you want to go together????? Is it reserved seating or rush? If it’s reserved, can you get me a ticket with you (and I can pay you back by email transfer or in person or whatever?) Are the tickets on sale already?

*runs around in circles flailing* I thought I would NEVER have a chance to see it! I’m crying!

I’ve just suddenly realized how much I need to see gay ballet. Pas-de-deuxs with two men or two women. Or trans ballet. More ballet in general, but less heteronormative. Ballet is good.

It was amazing! Definitely the artsiest city I’ve ever been to and I’ve been to 19 countries. I loved the poutine and the bagels. It definitely felt vaguely European especially with everyone speaking French haha. Hopefully someday I will go to QC too

:) And here’s the amazing thing: Montréal is like the halfway house between anglo North America and the rest of Québec. When I first moved to Mtl in 2007, I thought it was basically just like Europe. Then in 2011, the first time I visited Québec City, I realised that Montréal is only halfway there - in QC City, you get the real deal. Québec City is basically a very good compromise between Europe and North America. Montréal is more of a big, cosmopolitan, admittedly very artsy city with a strong flavour of Québec. Also, Mtl is functionally bilingual, which is the only part of the province of QC which is - the rest of it, with very occasional exceptions in the Eastern Townships, 100% French. Even QC City is now up to 98% native French-speaking. It’s pretty cool! Here, they think that Mtl is completely anglophone (English-speaking), and when I gently point out that it’s honestly about half and half, they think I’m crazy - they’re just not used to hearing English on the streets at all, beacuse you don’t here, unless it’s tourists in the Old City. Definitely come here sometime - it’s incredibly beautiful!

NOWHERE DOES IT SAY IN THIS HOT MESS THAT JOHN MARRIED A WOMAN NAMED MARY

And yet some people are still so convinced that Sherlock adores Mary and was happy about this marriage in any way at all.

Honestly, if Martin had leaned over any further, he would have faceplanted in Ben’s lap. Just saying.

A Ring of Endless Light is my absolute favorite. I am slowly but surely indoctrinating my coworkers by reccing A Wrinkle in Time and getting them hooked that way.

Yay, go you! :D
