Screen Time and Baby Boo – BlogchatterHalfMarathon2024

#BlogchatterHalfMarathon2024

Tara was exposed to a mobile screen as young as 1.5 years. She would stare at the moving objects, wide-eyed, wonderstruck. Initially, for others, it was an amusing thing to watch: a baby engaging with a mobile screen even before she could speak.

I am not sure how and when the screen time dependence started. I went back to work immediately after 8 months of maternity leave. I also changed to a remote job. I thought a remote job would allow me to spend more...

Payal’s Revenge: A short story

Iconic had its own rhythm, like a machine that never stopped humming, but Payal, the Senior Manager – Products, was the sharp click of a cog that didn’t quite fit. She moved through the halls with the authority of someone who had risen quickly, yet the bitterness of someone who thought the climb too slow. Her heels struck the tiles with purpose, each step echoing her disdain. Payal had a peculiar knack for singling out working mothers, her smile a thin veneer over the pleasure she took in watchi...

Heartbeat: Web series on OTT

I wanted to write about something different. Offbeat. I needed to get out of my obsession/paranoia with child abuse. As a survivor, I know how distressing it is. Each incident I read about is a trigger. It takes me days to return to normal. Well, defining normal is content for another post.

Heartbeat has come to an end with 100 episodes. Season 2 is expected in 2025. Well, I can surely wait till then. Anyway, 2025 is a few months away.

Hubby and I would watch medical dramas like ther...

My To-Be-Read List: Blogchatter HalfMarathon

#BlogchatterHalfMarathon 2024

Like all book lovers and book hoarders, I have a huge pile of to-be-read books waiting patiently for me to deal with life first. This list includes books I bought years back, from a lock-the-box sale or from a Book Fair, or from Amazon, or at a Book launch. My most recent purchases include:

The Last Witness by GV Subba RaoBlasphear by Sohail Sleep, Support And Sanity by Rashima Verma

and so many more…

I believe in preserving my books. I do...

Maharaj: Observations

#BlogchatterHalfMarathon 2024

Hubby wanted me to watch Maharaj, streaming on Netflix. The film, based on a true incident, has been adapted for the screen by YRF Entertainment and directed by Sidharth Malhotra (not the actor).

Cast includes Jaideep Ahlawat, Junaid Khan (Amir Khan’s beta ji), Shalini Pandey, Sharvari and many others.

Jaideep plays JJ, the revered spiritual leader or “Maharaj” of the Haveli in Bombay. Junaid is Karsandas who dares to question beliefs and superstitions. S...

Unveiling the Hidden

#BlogchatterHalfMarathon 2024

Why do boys/young men have the urge to record or watch young women/women relieve themselves or take bath?

Don’t we do the same actions as them (maybe slightly differently)? I feel exasperated. What is there to see!?

—————————————————————————–

Gudlavalleru Engineering College in Krishna district was witness to a disturbing incident recently. Read about it here.

Vijay Kumar, a final year BTech student was arrested for recording the bathroom activi...

Book review: The Fabulous Mums of Champion Valley

Publisher: Harper Collins

Amazon buy link: Buy the Book here

Review: 4.5/5

Blurb:

Ambika S. thinks being a teacher at Champion Valley School is tough until she meets Riddhi, Giselle, Pareeta, Kainaz and Jia – the ridiculously demanding, impatient and unreasonable mums of her young students! From the boardroom to the classroom where they want their kids to shine, these women mean business.

Fed up with the mums’ behaviour, and caught in her own charade of trying to fit in, Ambi...

Sips of Nostalgia: The Magic of Aam Panna

Aam panna has always been more than just a refreshing summer drink for me; it’s a sip of nostalgia, a journey back to sun-drenched days and the comforting embrace of my grandmother’s love. Every summer, as the sun blazed fiercely overhead, I would escape to my grandmother’s house, where the sweltering heat was softened by her cool, tangy concoction of raw mangoes, sugar, and spices. The ritual began with us venturing into her lush backyard, the air thick with the raw, green aroma of unripe mango...

Balancing Work and Life

It is intentional. I did not intentionally write balancing personal life and work life. Mainly because, work just keeps happening. And anything else, personal or public has to fit into the time left after work is over. This includes basics of life sustaining activities such as drinking water or visiting the washroom.

Passing urine is also a luxury. Or rather feels like it when you have to explain your 2-minute absence to your Manager. On Teams. When the omnipresent threat of being record...

“Z” for Zen

Let’s dive into the Zen zone!

Picture this: you’re chilling on a cozy cushion, eyes closed, and suddenly… poof! You’re as serene as a leaf floating downstream. How?

So, first off, meditation became my BFF. I’m talking about sitting cross-legged, channeling my inner Buddha, and zoning out to the sound of my own breath. It’s like a mental detox, flushing out all that unnecessary noise cluttering my mind.

Then, I went all Marie Kondo on my life. I decluttered my space, bid adieu to exc...
