“Q” – A Queue

A Short Story
Greg, a young executive with a penchant for efficiency, found himself stuck in a serpentine line at a bustling street fair. His eyes scanned the tempting food stalls, and his stomach growled impatiently. As the line inched forward at an agonizing pace, Greg’s frustration reached a boiling point.
Spotting a shortcut through a narrow alley, Greg made a split-second decision. Without hesitation, he slipped away from the line and hurried through the alley, emerging on the ot...
“P” for Privacy

There was a time when I used to write my deepest thoughts in a little diary. I would then hide it in my wardrobe, between layers of clothes. I was hiding it from the prying eyes of my Mom and anybody else who got curious.
Once I discovered that my Mom had been reading my diary on the sly and returning it to its hiding place without letting me know…Hah! so much for privacy. Eh?
Nowadays, with the advent of AI, how do you think privacy should be treated?
First off, AI is everywhere...
“O” for OTT Boom

I was born in a time when there were very few TV sets. Color TV sets more rarer.
When we bought our first TV, a color TV, it was to watch Indira Gandhi’s funeral procession. The whole neighborhood came to watch. Our living room was full of people, women mostly, some men, and excited children. I sat in a corner, on my mom’s lap, watching in awe as the TV spun its magic.
But now, let me tell you, things are wildly different. We’ve entered the era of Over-the-Top (OTT) streaming service...

“N” for No Time for… Anything

In our super fast lives, we have no time for anything.
Mornings are rushed. Somehow you quickly get through brushing, bathing, hurrying up with morning household chores like cooking breakfast, lunch, cleaning up, laundry, etc. You somehow drag yourself to the next stage…get dressed for the work day. Work day nowadays means sitting extended hours in front of the laptop, mesmerizingly staring at the flickering screen with unflinching devotion.
Remote work has changed the way work hours...

“M” for Motivation

When I published my latest novel, The Kamin’s Daughter, many people came up to me and asked, how do you keep yourself motivated to write novels? How do you find time?
Well, motivation is a state of mind. Just like happiness. And to some, being motivated equals being happy. With dipping motivation levels, happiness takes a plunge too.
In my experience, motivation is key to achieving goals and staying on track. I’ve found that setting clear and achievable targets helps maintain focus. ...

“L” for Love

Apart from participating in this blog challenge, I am also participating in the Anthology run by Blogchatter. For that I am writing a short story on love.
Love is an alien concept for me. I just can’t wrap my head around it. Especially the one described in romance novels and rom-coms. I understand the ones between Mother-Child or siblings or blood relatives but can never understand the complexities of a relationship between men and women or the same genders. It beats me. Somewhere, I fee...
“K” for Kindness

Expressing kindness to strangers is a profound way to connect with our shared humanity and make a positive impact on those around us. Throughout our daily lives, there are countless opportunities to extend a helping hand or share a moment of warmth with someone we encounter.
Simple acts of kindness—whether it’s offering a friendly smile, lending a listening ear, or assisting someone in need—have the power to brighten someone’s day and uplift spirits. These gestures create a sense of goodw...

“J” for Joy

In twilight’s tender embrace, a mother’s heart alights,
In the cradle of her arms, joy blooms in starlit nights.
Soft whispers weave dreams, where love’s song gently sways,
A lullaby of wonder, where tomorrow forever plays.
In motherhood’s embrace, a symphony unfurls,
Each smile, a radiant blossom in life’s grand whirls.
Tiny fingers grasp her soul, in wonder and in glee,
A dance of pure devotion, in bonds that forever be.
Oh, the joy of being woven in life’s sweetest art,
A mother’s spirit s...
