A for…Anbu (A2Z)
In Tamil, “Anbu” means affection.
Anbu encapsulates affection, love, and kindness—a concept that goes far beyond fleeting emotions. It signifies a profound and selfless connection, the kind that nurtures and sustains relationships.
Anbu is not confined to romantic love; it permeates family ties, friendships, and even the care we extend to strangers. It is the affection found in a grandmother’s lullaby, the patience of a teacher guiding a struggling student, or the quiet solidarity of a f...

Pongal and Meltdowns

I stare at the little girl while she dances around holding my bowl of food. The same bowl that I had offered her a while back, and she refused. The bowl contained Rasam, a lot of it…I didn’t have the energy to clean up any spillage so I just hoped the little girl would just drink it peacefully.
She did. Thankfully. Better still. She dragged her little table and chair to the balcony and sat there to relish her food. After some time she got bored, abandoned Project Rasam, and immersed herse...

The Book of Love in the City of Joy
I do not believe in love. I understand duty, responsibility, affection, hatred, anger…the myriad emotions. But. Love. Has remained unfathomable for me.
People have often asked, “What? Are you crazy? Don’t you love your kid? Don’t you love your spouse?” I do. I feel strongly attached to both of them and dutiful towards my parents, but I have never felt the rush of heady love, like how they show in the movies. Or like how I penned a short story, “No. 17, The Wrong Connection”, for the #TheBlog...

Working Weekend
#BlogchatterHalfMarathon2024
Have you ever received a call from your project manager on a lazy Sunday? I did. Last night. First call came at 9:30 p.m., the second at 10:15p.m., the last at 11:00 p.m. I ignored all three. She got really wild and sent me a message on Teams. I saw it but didn’t reply. At night, I dreamt of her. And others. Would it have been better if I had just picked the call? And worked through the night? Or maybe answered a simple query and resolved it right then?
