“G” for Grudges

In any relationship, it’s natural to encounter moments of tension or frustration that can linger longer than they should. Whether it’s a misunderstanding, unmet expectations, or simply feeling disconnected, these emotions can create a sense of unease between partners. However, dwelling on these feelings or allowing them to fester can be detrimental to the overall health of the relationship.
Over time, I’ve come to realize the importance of addressing these moments openly and honestly. Co...

Friends or Wardens

What is it about parents becoming or wanting to be “friends” with their children?
My parents were cool but were never friends with me. My Mom was the stricter one, Dad not so much. Of course, I wouldn’t know since he was at work most of the time. Mom also tried very hard to keep things balanced between discipline and affection and pampering.
Though I do remember talking pretty much everything under the sun with my Mom, but never with Dad. Till date, I have no idea what his opinions a...

Everything I do…

Everything I do echoes with your name,
In every sunrise, in the sunset’s flame.
Whispers of you in the wind’s soft sigh,
In the depths of dreams, you’re the reason why.

Every step I take, your essence clings,
In the songs I sing, your spirit springs.
In every thought, every hope, every fear,
Everything I do, you are always near.

D for Dramebaaz

Yeah, that’s what I am. Drama queen. I love when people squirm to distance themselves from my melodrama. Hah! Of course, strangers do not get tortured like this. This is the good fortune of people in my immediate circle – Hubby, Mummy, Friends, and now my daughter.
Realizing that Tara, my two-year-old, seems to have inherited my flair for the dramatic is both amusing and strangely satisfying.
Reflecting on this, I can’t help but find it amusing that drama appears to be a trait passed d...

Challenges of a Working Mom

In dawn’s soft glow, a mother wakes,
Her heart with purpose, yet also ache.
For she bears the weight of dual roles,
In the labyrinth of life, she boldly strolls.
With weary eyes and steady hands,
She navigates the shifting sand,
Balancing dreams and duty’s call,
In a world where expectations sprawl.
From sunrise to the fading light,
She dances in the hectic flight,
Juggling tasks with grace and poise,
Her spirit a beacon, amidst life’s noise.

In meeting rooms or in the kitchen’s fiery gl...

Back – Which bears the brunt of it all

Backbone, a critical part of the human anatomy, is often subjected to tremendous wear and tear. The backbone or the spine supports the human body, tirelessly working in the background. Am I taking an anatomy class? Nah…far from it.
This post is about my love-hate relation with my backbone and the surrounding real estate.
Many years back, when I was in my 20s, I had an accident, I got thrown away on the main road. I lay in the hospital for a few weeks, then shifted to my house and rec...

A for Amma

Amma. Mommy. Mom. Amma-yee. I am known and called by many names. For the past 2 years, I have ceased to exist as Nithya, as the Lead of my team, in any other relation except between me and Tara. My daughter, who made me Mommy in December 2021.
My toddler daughter, Tara, turned two recently. Her name is derived from the divine Mother Tara. The powerful Universal Mother. Denoting Strength, Knowledge, and Righteousness.
Nowadays, Tara calls me Amma-yee. I don’t know from where she has...

Book review
Madhuri Shinde ji’s book of poems in Hindi is a collector’s piece. It has 60 odd gems. Each poem invokes in you some nostalgia, some resentment, some deep hidden feeling. Some poems make you stop and think. Then you re-read it. Then, you get to understand another meaning altogether. I read poetry rarely but I picked this up on an impulse. All the poems stir something in you…not j...
