Author of the Day Arleigh Westunlied
Welcome this awesome Author of The Day :
Arleigh Westunlied
Arleigh is an engineer turned author. His main genre is steampunk fantasy and he is currently working on a series of novels in that genre. He put his writing of these novels on hold to complete a commissioned biography, Point of the Rear Guard, and this became his first published work.
Arleigh just recently began putting his stories to “paper”, however the ideas for his series have been in his head for many years. He once dreamed of writing a fanfic based on Tolkien’s Universe, picking up where Return of the King left of, but this never came to fruition. Instead, he is now creating his own universe.
In his spare time, which he doesn’t have much of, Arleigh enjoys spending time with his family, photography, nature walks, golf, finding sea glass on the beach, and other outdoor activities.

Serenity Valle:Author of the day
Today I'm showing off the wonder Serenity Valle as Author of the Day ..Hope everyone has a great weekend and come again Tuesday to see Serenity's Hubby as AOD !
Serenity began writing short stories when she was 7 years old. She illustrated these stories as well, even though now she admits she can’t draw. Her parents would buy her extra school notebooks to write her stories in. Her favourite place to write was under the carport during a rainstorm. She would sit at the picnic table and write for hours during summer storms. While still in high school, Serenity had nearly finished writing a full length novel. Unfortunately, the notebook fell out of her backpack during her Junior year (she believes on the bus) and was never found. Devastated, she turned from writing and threw herself into drama. For many years she participated in school musicals and community theater. She even had a very small (uncredited) part in the 2001 Tim Burton film “Planet of the Apes”. She did get to meet Burton though and said he was “eccentric but very nice”. She also did some modeling in the past few years and continues to pursue that venue as well.
During this time she began writing again for an online RPG game based on the show “La Femme Nikita” (one of her favourite shows of all time). Slowly, she began to have ideas for her own stories again but always found that the middle of the story was missing. She wrote the beginning and left it until her block was defeated. Just recently, Serenity started writing again full force and has recently completed writing her first book, an anthology of short stories (see Books for more information). This will be her first published work.
Serenity & Then Some: Serenity is the wife of a former Navy nuclear engineer and author. She is mum to 3 boys, currently aged 20, 16 and 18 months. Serenity graduated from Cerro Coso Community College in 2002 with two Associates Degrees in Social Sciences and Humanities, then went on to graduate in 2005 from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a Bachelors in Psychology and a minor in Latin American/Latino Studies. She is a proud Banana Slug and a proud sister of Sigma Pi Alpha Sorority. In the little free time she has between family and writing, she enjoys gardening, reading, crafting things, henna art, and watching such shows as “Burn Notice”, “Covert Affairs”, “Warehouse 13″, “Law & Order SVU”, “Touch”, “Kitchen Nightmares” and others.

I am happily married to my husband of five years, have three wonderful children and a beautiful feline companion that keeps me company during late night writing binges.My love of reading has been life long but it was in early 2012 when I was inspired to finally put pen to paper and write my first story. Spotlight: Melanie Stinnett
Meet Melanie !
I have enjoyed reading and writing since I was very young. Some of my fondest memories from childhood are of spending time with my mom or grandma reading a good book. Over the years, it never crossed my mind that writing my own novel would be an attainable goal. After reading several independently published novels by Jamie McGuire, Colleen Hoover and others, I decided I needed to give that dream a chance. So, here I am.
My first novel, Crossing Paths, will be released on August 29, 2013!
When I’m not reading and writing, I enjoy spending time with my three favorite guys: my husband and my two little boys. We live in Southwest Missouri and love doing things outdoors. Life can get pretty hectic with two kids under 3 years old but I wouldn’t change anything!
I also work as a Speech Language Pathologist. I provide therapy to adults who are dealing with speech, language, cognition or voice deficits. My day job is rewarding in many different ways and I love having the opportunity to help others in a time of need.

Caroline “June, have you seen my grey pencil skirt?” I yell out while searching through my closet. “June?” Damn it, she isn’t here. I forgot she’s on a plane headed for the wonderful New York City. She should be back late tomorrow afternoon and I might just kill her if she comes back with the exact pieces of clothing I can’t find. My best friend, June, and I lived together the last three years of college and are now renting an apartment while we dive into the real world. Most mornings in college were spent with me making fun of her drab attire while she laughed at my brightly colored dresses and high heels. I guess the saying opposites attract can be true for friends as well. The only major similarities we have are that we speak English and our dating history is a little spotty. We met at a party, although I am not sure June knew what it meant to party at that point. We were college freshman taking it all in. That particular night I was sliding along the railing of a stairway trying to pass by a couple with their tongues so far down each other’s throats I was worried they would stop breathing. As I came to the bottom of the stairs I tripped on the last step, launching my drink into the back of a guy’s shirt, who then spilled his drink on someone else. This domino effect continued for about 4 or 5 people until June got a plastic cup full of beer directly in the face. I apologized profusely as she was wiping liquid from her eyes. When she looked up at me she was smiling, laughing even. “That’s okay. I was looking for a reason to get out of here anyway.” June said through her laughter. “I think I’ll just go get something for dinner. It’s still pretty early.” “Can I join you?” The party was so lame and I had already embarrassed myself enough for one night. And so our friendship began. We left the party, got a change of clothes at June’s dorm room and headed to Denny’s. Breakfast for dinner - I don’t think there is a better meal. June and I were both far from home and beginning to miss home a bit. That night June spit her drink all over me while laughing at a stupid joke I told. We called it even and from that night forward we were inseparable. We saw each other through general education courses, many more parties and some crappy relationships. After freshman year, we rented a two bedroom duplex and lived there until graduation. At the holidays we would go our separate ways to visit family but when we arrived back at school it was like no time had passed by. As graduation neared, we started to look at job options. We both got calls about our job offers in Houston, Texas on the same day and accepted without pause. We had already talked about how perfect it would be to get a place and start our careers together.I would have loved to go with her to New York City today. That city can be a lot of fun, even if you have less than 24 hours. The shopping and spas are amazing! I had already been planning out where I might get a full massage and the stores I needed to hit first. Too bad my job requires that I actually show up.

Nathan turned into an alley, wrapped his arms around my waist, and gently pushed me backwards against the brick wall. He slid his hand up and pushed my hair aside out of my face, and gently grabbed my head, tilted it back, and locked his luscious lips to mine. He stood there kissing me as our tongues met, twirling inside our mouths. He was heavenly. Holy shit. God, he knew how to kiss. I loved the feel of his warm hand on my cheek and his other hand firmly grabbing my waist. My heart beat faster and faster as the kiss intensified, mesmerizing me. I took my hands and pushed him back softly and took a deep breath.
We both stood there for a few seconds and just stared at each other completely speechless. There it was again, that radiating feeling that just shook my body.

Nathan turned into an alley, wrapped his arms around my waist, and gently pushed me backwards against the brick wall. He slid his hand up and pushed my hair aside out of my face, and gently grabbed my head, tilted it back, and locked his luscious lips to mine. He stood there kissing me as our tongues met, twirling inside our mouths. He was heavenly. Holy shit. God, he knew how to kiss. I loved the feel of his warm hand on my cheek and his other hand firmly grabbing my waist. My heart beat faster and faster as the kiss intensified, mesmerizing me. I took my hands and pushed him back softly and took a deep breath.
We both stood there for a few seconds and just stared at each other completely speechless. There it was again, that radiating feeling that just shook my body.

Tamala started writing as a dare and a favor to her children, at the time their ages were 15 and 6 years old. Always a storyteller, she would make everything around her come to life and became the center of attention in her family as the characters would seem so real.
Requesting a story plot from her oldest daughter, Tamala began to write based on characters developed by her teenager and the story spiraled from there. 7 full novels later, Tamala had a series by the name of SuperNatural that was based in her hometown and featured witches, werewolves & vampires.

Ten years have passed since that hot July night, when Seth McCullough walked away from Krista Chancellor, his high school sweetheart; determined to keep his dark, tumultuous past from tainting her beautiful light. He thought he had buried his demons forever when he cut ties and joined the military, but when he begins to suffer debilitating headaches, displacement of time, and horrifying nightmares, he starts to fear for his sanity. He had bitten his tongue to keep from chastising her.Now he saw her skin looking angrier by the minute and grimaced, knowing she was going to be miserable by nighttime.Krista looked down her nose at her left shoulder and gave a shrug, “Oh, well. I have some aloe stuff my mom bought me. I think I might have it here in my bag.” She reached into the bag she had plopped down next to her, and eventually pulled out a small bottle of aloe.“Can you rub this onto my shoulders for me?” Without waiting for an answer, Krista swung her right leg over the side of the tree so she straddled it with her back to Seth, giving him access to both shoulders.Seth, used to her bossiness, squirted some of the gel into his palm and began to delicately rub it into her skin.“Oooh, ouch. You’re right. It’s already starting to hurt.” Krista winced.Seth felt the cool gel warm up under his fingers against on her hot skin. Krista glanced back over her shoulder and for a quick second, locked with Seth’s intense gray gaze.Seth stopped rubbing the aloe into her skin as something between them vibrated, humming so loud it seemed to fill the silence of the woods surrounding them. Krista leaned back into Seth’s chest, reached her left arm behind his head and pulled him to her, operating on instinct rather than organized thoughts.Within seconds, Seth had his arms filled with beautiful, soft, Krista. Her fingers tangled in his hair at the nape of his neck and their lips met in a long awaited union. He was no longer capable of calling to memory why he believed he should be avoiding such an encounter with her. All he could do was feel.It felt natural, when she leaned back against him, to wrap his arms around her and pull her closer. When she pulled his face toward his, it seemed as if he had made the journey a thousand times. There was nothing awkward or out of place, as he had wondered about. The moment his mouth met hers, she invited him in with a gentle parting of her lips, flicking her tongue over his. A hunger within him was unleashed and he ran his own fingers up into her hair at the base of her skull, cupping her head, tipping it back gently to take the kiss further, deeper.The world stopped, tilted, and reversed rotation. There would be no going back. This was an irreversible revelation.
