Review: Majestic Pet cat tree from Your Cat’s Tree

Ruby on cat tree

Back in December, we were contacted by Your Cat’s Tree with an offer to review one of their cat trees. I picked the 44 inch Bungalow Sherpa Cat Tree shown below. Allegra and Ruby have been nagging me ever since to put it together so they could test it.

My two little product testers were eager to help with assembly when I finally took it out of the box a couple of weeks ago. Those of you who’ve read my reviews for a while know that the words “some assembly required” always instill trepidation,...

Conscious Cat Sunday: take time for yourself

sleeping_cat

Sometimes the most important thing in a whole day is the rest we take

between two deep breaths. – Etty Hillesum

We all have busy lives, and there are days when it feels like we’ll never get everything done. For most people, the first thing to fall by the wayside during busy times is time for yourself. I’ve never met a cat who says”I’m too busy to take a moment to stretch in the sun.” Why can’t we be more cat like when it comes to taking care of ourselves?

The following ten tips can help you carv...

Mews and Nips: a cat who solves a hacker case, a cat who picks stocks, and more

Japan-Cat

Our first story sounds like something out of an action movie: Mashable reports thatJapan’s central law enforcement agency got help from a cat in solving a frustrating hacker case. The cat carried a memory card police say is the latest clue in a bizarre chase for a hacker who’s used his stealthy computer skills to send anonymous bomb threats to schools, airlines and shopping malls. Following hints sent to media outlets on New Year’s Day, the cat carrying the card was found on an island near To...

Review: Love Saves the Day by Gwen Cooper

Loev_Saves_the_Day_Gwen_Cooper

From the moment I turned the final page of Gwen Cooper’sNew York Times bestseller, Homer’s Odyssey,I washoping that Gwen would write another cat themed book. When I met Gwen back in September, and heard her read the first chapter of Love Saves the Day, I knew this book was something very special. A book like this doesn’t come along every day.

Love Saves the Day is a novel written from three points of view. The primary narrator isPrudence, a brown tabby rescued from a deserted construction site...

A fine furry romance

cat romance

Guest post by Phoebe and Hawkeye Banks, as told to T.J. Banks

(Phoebe and Hawkeye have had their own little office romance going for a few years now. And, despite a bumpy beginning, they’ve managed to make it work. One morning, they shared their story with me. –TJB)

Hawkeye: For the longest time, the office here was all mine. Well, I shared it with the Older Human, of course. I went over her manuscripts, tended her plants for her (plants have to be cropped back periodically, you know), and stud...

The joy of cat blogging

cats-computer-keyboard-monitor

Has the internet gone to the cats and dogs? It sure seems that way. An internet cat video festival in Milwaukee drew more than 10,000 spectators. A stunning photo of a man cradling his arthritic dog in his arms went viral and touched so many people that he started a foundation in his dog’s name and raised more than $25,000 to help other dogs in need. And if you need more proof that the internet is a pet-friendly place, look no further than the thousands of pet blogs, covering topics ranging f...
