Review: Petflow’s Spoiled Rotten Cat Box

Petflow Spoiled Rotten box

I’m a big fan of Petflow*. I hate going to the store, especially when it comes to heavy items like kitty litter. Having to lug the bags from the store to the car, and then from the car into my house, is just not something I enjoy. I’d much rather have them delivered to my front door. And even better, Petflow allows you to set up a regular delivery schedule, so you won’t ever run out if you forget to reorder.

When Petflow asked me whether the girls and I would like to review their newest produc...

Cats and can openers

cats and can openers

I don’t eat a lot of things that come out of cans.Allegra and Ruby eat mostly raw food, and the occasional canned food they eat comes out of the little flip top cans. So why is it that when I used a can opener the other night to open a can of lentils, both of them came running, even though they had just finished their dinners?

Is it possible that responding to the sound of a can opener is hard wired into our domestic cats’ brains?

Allegra was rescued from a Maryland shelter when she was two or...

At Furry Dance B&B, cats are pampered guests

in home cat boarding

For many cat guardians, the thought of having to travel causes more stress than joyful anticipation, because itmeans leaving their cats behind. For most cats, a cat sitter may be the best solution. Cats are creatures of habit, and they tend to prefer to stay in the familiar surroundings of their own homes. But what do you do when this is not an option – whether it’s because you can’t find a sitter you trust completely, or perhaps your cat has medical needs your sitter can’t accommodate?

Traditi...

What you should know when your cat needs to go under anesthesia

cat_under_anesthesia

Most cat guardians worry when theircats have togo under anesthesia. I’m certainlyone of them. Even though I’ve assisted with all sorts of anesthetic procedures and surgeries in my years working in veterinary clinics, understanding how it all works, and what constitutes safe anesthetic practice, still doesn’t completely take the worry out of it.

Knowing what to expect when your cat has to undergo anesthesia, and knowing the right questions to ask at your veterinary clinic prior to the procedure...

Mews and Nips

Grumpy Cat

The latest cat to have gone viral on the internet is Tardar Saucethe Grumpy Cat. Catsparella reports that after appearing on The Today Show last weekend, Tard embarked on a whirlwind tour of several New York City area media outlets to spread her trademark lack-of-cheer. Later in the week on Tumblr, Tard revealed the truth in a touching video narrated in a child’s voice: “I’m not grumpy. That’s just how my face is shaped.” Read the full story, and watch the video, on Catsparella.

Review: Travels with George: New York by David Stone and Deborah Julian

Travels with George: New York

I love cats, and I love New York City, so I had no doubt that I would love Travels with George: New York, the second in David Stone and Deborah Julian’s Cat’s Eye Adventure series. I just wasn’t prepared for how much I loved it.

In the first book in the series, Travels with George: Paris, George, a much-loved indoor cat living in a New York City high-rise, stows away in his humans’ luggage as they get ready for a trip to France. Imagine his surprise, not to mention his humans’, when he finds h...

The Cat Crib, a hammock that fits underneath virtually any chair in your home, makes a great hiding and napping space for your cat. It is made from a sturdy fabric with a soft, microfiber type lining. It securely attaches to the chair legswith velcro straps and clamps.

The cat crib was an almost instant hit at our house. I had barely attached the hammock underneath a dining room chair when Ruby immediately checked it out. I think it took her about two minutes to curl up in the hammock. It’s be...
