Mews and Nips

Cheeto_kitten_rescue

We first discovered our favorite story of this week on Catsparella, who found the story on social networkReddit. Cheeto, astarving, flea-bitten kitten, was rescued by an independent film maker in Virginia. The little orange cat got his nameafter Chester Cheetah because of his large head and tiny body, was “just a bag of bones and fur,” before he was fed, bathed, and given a warm, safe place to recuperate. Visit Catsparella for the full story and wonderful photos of Cheeto’s road to rescue.

If you love cats, you’re going to not only love this book, you’ll probably recognize yourself in at least parts of it. Kitty Cornered: How Frannie and Five Other Incorrigible Cats Seized Control of Our House and Made It Their Home is Bob Tarte’s account of the challenges of a household run by cats. In praise of senior cats

senior_tortoiseshell_cat

November is Adopt-a-Senior Pet month. If you’re looking to add a new feline family member, don’t overlook the joys of adopting an older cat. Jane Harrell, executive producer at Petfinder.com, lists 10 reasons senior cats rule, and I agree with all of them. With a senior cat, you know what you’re going to get: the cat’s personality is already formed, so you’ll have a better idea of how she’ll fit into your family. Senior cats are usually already trained in the ways of living with humans. They’...

Conscious Cat Sunday: random acts of kindness

cat_on_window_perch

My religion is very simple. My religion is kindness. -The Dalai Lama

Have you ever been the recipient of a random act of kindness? Maybe someone let you go ahead in the grocery store line because you only had one item. If you’ve been on the receiving end of such an act of kindess, you know how wonderful it feels.

Research suggests that positive emotions hel...
