Reviewers love Purrs of Wisdom

Purrs_of_Wisdom_Ingrid_King

I’m so thrilled with some of the early reviews that are coming in for Purrs of Wisdom, I just have to share some of my favorite excerpts with you!

From Anna David, author of Animal Attraction:

“A perfect (restrained myself from writing purrfect) little gem of a book that explains life lessons the author learned through her cats, Purrs of Wisdom offers a slew of tips from a clear cat (and life) lover. Recommend it for cat people and non cat people alike!”

From Liz Eastwood at Natural Cat Care Blo...

Coping with the pain of pet loss

copiing_with_the_pain_of_pet_loss

Even if our cats live into their late teens and sometimes early twenties, it’s just not long enough. The price we pay for sharing our lives with these wonderful companions is that all of us whoconsiders our catsfamily members or best friends will sooner or later experience the pain of loss, and it can be as devastating as the loss of any loved one. Joelle Nielsen, a veterinary social worker at the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, says she often compares the loss of a pet t...

Conscious Cat Sunday: the culture of fear

Conscious Cat Sunday: the culture of fear

Let go of fear, embrace change, and move toward joy. – Buckley

Fear is a normal response toathreatening stimulus or situation. Without the fear response, neither cats nor humans would survive. Fear prepares us for fight or flight. While our domesticated cats don’t often deal with fear of survival in their environment, some of these fears may be hardwired. The good news is that, with proper support from their guardians, cats can get over their fears.Allegra used to be terrified of bad weather,...

Gracey The Tiniest Tiger

I love stories about cats who change their humans’ lives. Gracey’s mom, Joanne McGonagle, is the author of The Tiniest Tiger and her blog, The Tiniest Tiger’s Conservation Club, often features Gracey, so I knew a little bit about Gracey, but I had never heard the story of how she came into Joanne’s life. Gracey influenced Joanne’s life in a big way. “She was the inspiration behind my book and the catalyst for my career change from specialty food marketing to studying big cats and completing m...

Review and giveaway: True Grey by Clea Simon

True_Grey

I’m a huge fan of Clea Simon, and was eagerly awaiting this fifthbook in the Dulcie Schwartz mystery series, featuring the Harvard graduate student, along with her kitten Esme and the spirit of her departed cat, Mr. Grey. I knew enough from reading the previous four books to set some nice chunks of reading time aside when I received my review copy of True Grey, because once you pick up one of Simon’s mysteries, you’re not going to want to put it down.

In this book, we find Dulcie finally makin...

Review: Music My Pet: soothing classical music for cats

relaxing music for pets

When Tom Nazziola, the creator of Music My Pet, contacted me about reviewing some of the music he created specifically for animals to provide comfort and soothe anxiety, I was intrigued.

Nazziola’smusic, rangingfromfilm music to choral and orchestral pieces, has been performedaround the world, as well as broadcast nationally and internationally on radio and television. But what really grabbed my attention was that Tom served as one of theprincipal performers for Disney’s award-winning Baby Ein...

Help bring some holiday joy to shelter cats

bring Christmas joy to shelter cats

Shelter cats can only dream of the kind of holidays most of our cats will experience: a warm place to sleep and snuggle, plenty of food, and, for most of us, more toys than ourcats will ever know what to do with.

Dorian Wagner, the founder of YourDailyCute.com, believes that shelter animals deserve a little holiday love, too, and in order to make that happen, she founded Santa Paws Drive three years ago.Santa Paws Drive is an online Christmas toy drive dedicated to pets. The inspiration for th...

Cats and Christmas trees

cats and christmas trees

Putting up my Christmas tree is a tradition I look forward to every year. For the past couple of years, I’veapproached this annual event with some trepidation: after almost two decades of sharing my life with older cats, I now havethree-year-old Allegra and barely adult, two-year-old Ruby.Surprisingly, neither of them has shown all that much interest in the tree.

I’m aware of all the hazards.Christmas trees can be deadly to cats (they could ingest pine needles, and the water cut trees are place...
