A sexually active gay sitcom character? Refreshing.

On this week's episode of Happy Endings, the Max character (Adam Pally) spent the entire episode flirting with a physical therapist named Kent who had been assigned to care 822Xfor injured pal Penny (Casey Wilson). There was no reason to assume anything about Kent's sexual orientation—he was just an attractive human who presumably had his own amorous urges. All viewers knew was that both Max and Penny found him attractive and his skills inviting, with Max making an over-the-top play for the muscl...

Maine's leading anti-equality group pulls curtain off its base, their motivations

This Christian Civic League of Maine, the organization leading the charge to stop civil marriage equality in the Pine Tree State, asked its supporters if having an LGBT relative, friend, or neighbor influences theirs views on marriage. An interesting question for them to pursue, perhaps. But I can't for the life of me understand why they think that posting the responses was helpful to their cause. Unless, of course, they are now ready to give up the pretense that their campaign is limited onl...

FRC encourages clergymen to 'correct the politicians'

This language comes from the Family Research Council's latest round of prayer targets:

Christian leaders across the nation, silent in the past, have found their voices. They are speaking out now because secular politicians have frequently and increasingly crossed the line of separation between church and state, usurped eternal moral laws, lightly esteemed tested biblical values, openly profaned sacred institutions, and viciously assaulted the spiritual foundations of our nation, culture and go...

Are we not Americans, Andrea Lafferty?

Even conservative polling shows a fairly even split. More fair-minded polling routinely puts marriage equality in the majority. But don't let that get in the way of Andrea Lafferty's (Traditional Values Coalition) narrative

Janet Mefferd Show, 10/24/12 [JM]

This just drives home how little regard people like Andrea Lafferty have for us and our views. Just looking at California, Andrea's home state and talking point: 6.4 million voting Californians voted against Prop 8, even four years ago when...

MN for Marriage's Comm. Guy plays his (Donald) Trump card

Last night, in the wake of his church outreach guy being caught likening gay activists to Hitler (again), Minnesota For Marriage's far-right (he's a former Bachmann staffer) Comm. Guy Andy Parrish began tweeting out some supposedly explosive video he has of our side's staff:

Bring it. I've actually hung with a few members of the MN United staff. Good people! I sincerely look forward to seeing their "wild" ways on video.

Derek McCoy claims I 'misquoted'; so here's the 5 min clip (with bonus incest and prostitution comparisons)

Today on WYPR radio, Maryland Marriage Alliance head Derek McCoy Claimed that the "worthy of death" clip that I first brought you yesterday morning (along with others) was actually a "misquote":

WYPR

So okay, Derek—here's a much longer clip. In fact, I'm actually glad you reminded me to post it, buddy, since this new one includes the pastor talking about how marriage equality will lead to legalized prostitution and incest. Enjoy the added context:

Maryland Marriage Alliance says video was 'out of context'; because that's what they always claim

The scoop that I brought you yesterday morning is starting to get mainstream media attention, and Maryland Marriage Alliance is spinning like *MAD*:

Deana Bass, a spokeswoman for the Maryland Marriage Alliance, said Anderson’s comments were being taken out of context and that they were in no way a suggestion that gays and lesbians should be harmed.

“What he was saying was that men and women of faith should stand up for what they believe in and vote against Question 6,” Bass said.

Any attempt to...

Bill Gates makes smart investment in history's right side

A cool half a mill:

OLYMPIA, Wash. — Bill and Melinda Gates have donated $500,000 to the campaign to uphold Washington state's gay marriage law.

Unlike the other side, which is hellbent on placing unreasonable gates around an already passed bill.
