Oh look, NOM's Ruth Institute is suggesting gays should come with surgeon general's warning

Of all the National Organization for Marriage properties, its the Ruth Institute (a project of NOM's Education fund) and its loose-lipped president, Jennifer Roback Morse, who most routinely threaten the organization's desire to seem something other than animus-driven. Today the patten continues:

Today in religious freedom: MN Catholic church denies confirmation to 17-year-old equality backer

A Minnesota teenager Facebooked about civil equality. His church did not hit the "like" button:

Minnesota teen denied Catholic confirmation after Facebook post supporting gay marriage [Grand Forks Herald]

Such a duality at play. The church showed support for cultural advancement when it used the newfangled technology known as Facebook to learn of this young man's political opinions. But then they cast him out for simply supporting future's inevitability? Such conflicting nonsense.

For insight into Adam & Steve's long fight, 'Slate' reflects on year of 'Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure' (and Andrew's formative essay)

In honor of our strong of historic wins, Slate has reprinted Andrew Sullivan's 1989 New Republic essay on marriage equality, which is widely hailed in activist circles for being a transitional piece in our current marriage discussion. A fascinating read to round out this fascinating week:
